Finder screen corrupted
I had an application hang during shutdown, and performed a force quit on it. On rebooting, 'finder' is corrupted, the scroll bar is in the wrong place, controls are missing, the files are not displayed (unless one clicks in the file selection window, then they appear, though one can still not navigate by clicking on them). I tried booting to single user mode, ran fsck to clean (returns 'OK') and delted the /User/.../Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.applie.sidebarlists.plist files as described in earlier postings.
Are those two files the only configuration files for 'finder'? Is there a way to reload the executable without having to reinstall the system? Any other ideas appreciated.
Bill
Ok, I tried Pacifist ... I wasn't sure what to replace, so I started a shell and found Finder.app within CoreServices ... I couldn't find any specific "Finder.pkg", so I installed CoreServices from disk ... unfortunately I still have the problem. I don't know for certain if I replaced the proper component. I suppose I can reinstall the system, though I"m probably going to lose information as I don't know how to back up and restore user info, apps added etc. on this system. Rather not have to do that, but it's hard to use the system if Finder won't work properly. I'll wait a couple days to see if anyone else has ideas on how to diagnose this, else it's bye-bye disk.

Is there an ap for finding/deleting corrupt files on OS X 10.7?
I seem to have a corrupt file(s) which cause my MacBook Pro to freeze inexplicably (and randomly) upon start-up. I've been told that this is a symptom of having a corrupt file.
Is there an an for finding/deleting corrupt files on OS X 10.7?
I'm pretty much bound to my computer and simply don't have the time to go through it manually.
Thank you. This is an old post and I am not the person who posted the original query, but I ran your terminal diagnostic and am hoping you are still attending to this forum. I have a mid 2011 macbook Air 11", 256 GB SSD, 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Mac OS X v. 10.7.5 Lion. I have had various problems in my user homefolder for a while. I have gone through quite a few other troubleshooting and fixing steps, the most extensive following a posting here "Step by Step to fix your mac" by ds store in the Apple forums. These steps helped a lot. I did remove some 3rd party software as part of this process.
My computer is running well in general now, but one thing that has been a recurring problem is problems with move/cut-paste. I researched this online and ACL's being present where they're not supposed to be seems to be an issue. I have used terminal commands to remove ACL's, used Onyx to repair user permissions, rebooted with command-r to reset password screen and reset user permissions. They all help, but then a some point later on the problem recurs. When I run repair disk permissions with either disk utility or onyx I always get this message:
Repairing permissions for “maggieairHD”
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
ACL found but not expected on “Users”
Repaired “Users”
Permissions repair complete
This ALWAYS comes up, even if I run it immediately after running it and haven't done anything else on the computer in between.
I created another user and did not have the same problems I was having at the time with some programs, although I haven't used it that much to be able to really compare. The home folder permissions repair in Onyx comes out the same in that user, though.
Here are my results from your diagnostic terminal commands:

I have removed NoSleep, Caffeine, itunesHelper and Dropbox from login items before and didn't notice any difference, so I put them back. Some of these I know I don't want, like rim/blackberry, adobe AIR. Skype has never worked consistently on this computer. I don't use most of these Services, and I know I had trouble with some that were not compatible with Lion before. I am not using Parallels much now, have been thinking about taking it off as it uses a chunk of my SSD. But I don't feel confident about getting rid of .frameworks etc safely.
I am glad to remove anything I don't use if I know how to do it safely. I am willing to remove anything I do use if it's necessary, but obviously would prefer to find a way to keep things that I find helpful.
I appreciate any suggestions! -
Corrupt Screens. The main problem is corrupt screens (visually jumbled, with elements of previous screens). The corrupt screens appear in both Preview in a Web Browser and in a published project. I've observed the problem when I capture website interactions (using either Safari or Firefox). It might be isolated to web browsers and not other applications, but I'm not sure. The project slides themselves look fine. The problem occurs during the transition to an HTML/SWF-based preview or published file.
Unfortunately the problem appears to be intermittent and unpredictable: one Preview (in Web Browser) might show one corrupt screen; a subsequent Preview (in Web Browser) might show four corrupt screens (after making no changes to the Captivate file). It appears to be related to various timeline factors (mouse position, mouse duration). I was able to temporarily eliminate the problem in one project file by making sure all mouse elements had a 2/10th second gap before the end of the slide and were no longer than 2 seconds long. But in a later test, controlling for these variables did not work.
There are two other related bugs that occur in Preview or publish:
Mouse. If I move the mouse object from its original position on the timeline, say, from the end of the slide to a position just before, and then move it back to the end of the slide, the result is faulty mouse behavior. It moves very slowly over the first part of its arc, then either skips suddenly to the destination or doesn't complete the arc at all when the slide advances to the next slide.
Audio. Sometimes the audio for a single slide will not play. This is intermittent and unpredictable, like the screen corruption bug. The problem sometimes goes away after moving the mouse on the timeline slightly, but this isn't reliable.
In any case, moving the mouse away from the end of the slide is not a desirable workaround, even when it does work. The delay between the "click" and the slide transition looks sloppy, and is contrary to the expected mouse behavior (to quickly trigger a slide transition).
I have been working with two people at Adobe tech support, but we have not found a solution or isolated the problem. I've also documented several keystroke bugs on this forum. So, after nearly 3 weeks of aggravation, I have concluded that Captivate 6 for Mac has serious bugs and is not reliable. I am forced to go back to Captivate 5.5.I have experienced the exact same issues. I've republished files over and over again with unpredictable results. Missing audio, ghost backgrounds, visual artifacts. That doesn't even begin to address the other major annoyances like the stage jumping around when you do things like adjust element properties, audio editor opening up half off the screen so that it has to be manually dragged back EACH TIME.
I'm totally frustrated and disgusted with the quality of this product. I don't care one bit about all the new features it has, I just want the featues that are there to work right and work reliably. Today alone, I lost over 4 hours of productivity to resolving buggy software issues... I'm not exaggerating, 4 HOURS !. This is absolutely unacceptable. The software does NOT work well at all. Adobe should be horrified with how bad this software performs. I can't say enough negative things about this without using expletives that are well deserved.
After purchssing adobe software for 25 years, I am running out of patience. They are too big and too focused on new features instead of just making the ones they have work well. I used to love Adobe more than any other software company. That is definitely no longer the case. I have no intention of up doing any more upgrades after this. If these APPALLING blatant issues are not resolved before they release version 7, I will not upgrade and may well consider enlisting others in a class action suit. Fire all the developers who have a hand in this. Fire all the managers who signed off on it's readiness. Go back to the drawing board and make this right.
I fully intend on posting this in every forum I can find. This software has cost me too much time and money. -
Boot failure - white screen corrupted with yellow repeated bit-pattern.
Hi
I have had a quick look at the postings esp those with pictures and can't find a similar prob to mine. My white 24" iMac hasn't been able to boot for months now, except a couple of times but it then subsequently started playing up. As well as a boot failure the white boot screen has yellow bit-patterns on it, usually horizontal or speckled. I have been able to run the diagnostics program from the OSX disc but it didn't find any problems. The computer displays and animates the spinning wheel while booting, but overlaid on the corrupted white screen, and then 99% of time gets no further.
I have made 5 screenshots with my 3G iPhone, the first two are of one boot attempt, the third is another boot attempt (note slightly different bit pattern - this one is the most common I get) and last two are of a successful boot attempt into AHT (Apple Hardware Test). If anyone recognizes this type of screen problem please do reply.
Standard boot attempt (1) - two photos showing spinning wheel:
https://files.me.com/funkypuck/e0nt8c
https://files.me.com/funkypuck/nts1nu
Standard boot attempt (2) - one photo showing typical screen corruption:

Boot into Apple Hardware Test - two photos of same area (just because 3G camera not so hot):

Many thanksHi, I am having a similar problem from what you described, but I can't even get the disk up and running for a clean install with Snow Leopard. I'm curious if you have found a solution. I fairly certain that it is not an issue with the hard drive.

How to find screen no. of a pop-up window?
Hi friends,
Any one can let me know, How to find the screen no. of pop-up window?
Thank,
PunjaalaTo find screen no of a pop-up screen, in debuggin mode give break point at call screen statement.
Usually pop-ups would be called by call screen starting in (x,y) cordinates. so it'll stop at that point.
you can find out the pop-up details there.

SAQHi,
DBVerify reports both physical and logical intrablock corruptions by default. A good place to start would be going through the below MOS note for understanding them well.
Physical and Logical Block Corruptions. All you wanted to know about it. (Doc ID 840978.1)
Basically you will not be able to read data from the corrupt blocks in physical corruption while might be able to read data in logical corruption.
Also, DBVerify reports DBV-200/201 errors for logical corruption.

IMac G5 - Pixelated Finder screen
Hi guys,
Wondered if anyone can shed any light on this. I keep getting a pixelated finder screen - not all over but as if the screen hasn't rendered properly. It happens infrequently when I boot up in the morning & it also occured when the computer was running the black swirly screensaver - I clicked the mouse & it left a kind of line of black pixels. If I do a re-start it seems to be okay. The compuer itself seems to be running okay - I'm using quark, illustrator, photoshop, entourage etc.
This morning I had a bit of a scary moment: Booted up & again there were traces of white/grey pixels. When I booted up entourage, it opened as a black image. It allowed me to quit. I went to the finder menu & restart & the restart box came up as as a black box. I clicked in the area where I knew the okay button was & the computer restarted fine.
Anyone any idea what is going on? Do I need a new graphics card? The computer is only 15 month old. Surely it can't be on it's way out already? We've had some really hot weather - do you think it's the heat?
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm working for myself here at home & it's a lonely thing when your main business tool starts going a bit wappy!
Thanks in advance, MelMine too! Within the last week the screen started flickering and has now settled into an almost monochrome blue. My photoshop defaults are white and blue; even the flurry screen saver is on a field of blue. What gives? The RGB now seems mostly B.
My iMac g5 17'' display has turn bluish, but when i
connect an external display it seems fine. Does
anyone know what's wrong?

Calling Oracle Standard Form from OAF page - Need to hide the find screen.
Hi all,
i have a requirement where i need to call a oracle standard form(D2K form) from OAF page and need to pass parameter. Now i can able to call a form from page on button click using the following syntax,
"form:AR:US_AR_SUPER_USER:STANDARD:AR_ARXCWMAI_AGE"
My query here is, When i call this form its open with find Form and after values are entered it goes the main form.
I need to hide this find screen which is avaiable in standard and need to call directly the main form with out find form.
Please help me out to reach this.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
RenuYou need to pass the parameter to the actual form to display the results something like "form:AR:US_AR_SUPER_USER:STANDARD:AR_ARXCWMAI_AGE&P_PARAM=123", assuming P_PARAM is the actual parameter defined in the form. Open the form and check which parameters are available and pass the values accordingly.
Thanks

When adding an attachment, the files I see in the finder-screen are not up to date
I want to attach a file to a new message. When I attach it via the button in het message-screen a finder screen will open. The files in here are not up to date. For example, a just added file is not visible. When I brouwse to the same folder by using the Finder itself at this time I will see the up-to-date files and can add them to the message by using drag and drop. So, I have found a solution but I still think this is a bug.
See both screenshots, one is the folder "3 metingen" in the Thunderbird finder screen. the second is the same shown in Finder. More and accuate files are visible in Finder.
Thanks for your time.
Rogier. Both are OSX windows. Thunderbird just asks the operating system to open a windows of that type, so why the operating system would offer up such weirdness I have no idea. Under windows F5 forces and update, I wonder if it does on OSX?

Please Help - Screen corruption while in Aperture - graphics card problem?
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed frequent screen corruption within the confines of the image that I am currently editing. The corruption only occurs when in Aperture. The corruption occurs as multiple thin (one pixel?) horizontal lines of random color and random length that occur in random locations within the image. If I force a re-calculation of the image (such as change white balance) the random lines will disappear, only to reappear somewhere else. The actual image (after export) is never corrupted, only the display. Recently Aperture has started to "hang" in random ways, sometimes freezing the whole machine, sometimes crashing, sometimes beach-balling.
This sounds like a hardware problem to me, but the standard Apple hardware test runs without errors, as does an extended memtest. Setup: Mac Pro, 5GB, SW fully updated to 10.4.11 and Aperture 1.5.6. I tried re-seating the graphics board to no avail.
Are there any programs that I can use to test the Radeon X1900 card?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.Thanks David,
I did some more research and it appears that quite a few of us (unlucky) users with an early version of the Radeon X1900 graphics card are now seeing failures that appear to be due to poor heat dissipation by the graphics card. There's a huge thread on the subject here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1195969
The problem with random display glitches doesn't show up for most people until they upgrade to Leopard, which puts a larger strain on the graphics card than Tiger. I am still running Tiger, but the glitches show up for me when using Aperture, which of course uses the graphics card more aggressively than most other programs. I assume that Aperture increases the heat which causes the glitches.
I tried cleaning the dust out of the Radeon's heat sink, and I added a tool (smcFanControl) that lets me manually override the default fan speed. By keeping the card's temperature lower, the glitches have gone away. If I let the temperature rise, they come back. Looks like I'll be needed a new graphics card. -
i am unable to find SCREEN PAINT option while i created an new company and new DATA Base. Can any one resolve my issue.
Hi,
What version of B 1 you are using?
go to admin>>addons>>add on administration.....check here that screen painter addon is installed or not ?
if you do not find here screen painter then go to your SAP B 1 dump >>packeges>>screen painter>>run the .exe file

Switched from KDE to openbox today and getting weird screen corruption (not sure that's the correct term but never mind) in loads of applications, on things like the terminal if I scroll up then back down it dissapears but in things like deluge there's no way to get rid of it at all
Sometimes it's just black and white (like in the screenshot) and other times there's lines of different colours.
Not using testing repo, graphics card is ATI HD3200 and using the xf86-video-ati driver from extra.
Any ideas what's causing it or how to get rid of it?
ThanksSame problem as here I guess. First off, try another GTK theme and see if that helps.

Issue with Method to find Screen Exit
Hi all,
I am planning to add 2 custom fields to item details tab in ME51N .
I tried to find screen exits using development class of ME51N i.e ME
I went to smod and tried to find enhancements using ME development class and from the list of enhancements i tried to find a screen exit but i could found one.
I found an enhancement
MEREQ001 Customers' Own Data in Purchase Requisition
Which had a screen exit as well and this is what i was exactly looking for.
But my question is that
MEREQ001 is under development class MEREQ
So that means the way i was trying to find the screen exits is wrong or is there a better way to find screen exits
Let me know
ThanksHi,
