Finder - search multiple criteria doesn't work ("+" missing)

I used to be able to search on multiple items in finder by clicking Cmd+F, start typing, then hitting the "+" key to start adding criteria. I can't seem to figure out how to do this on Mavericks (currently 10.9.5), and I can't find an article to tell me the answer. For example, I want to find files with names matching "maverick" modified in the last 14 days, with size > 2MB...

So, I created a test report using "select * from floor_suite_billing" and did a search. This new report came up in the results but the other one didn't.
Then I tried searching for other keywords from the query but that report still does not show up..
does anyone have a reliable way of searching Apex?

Find files in folder doesn't work

To make my photo galleries, I use CS5, because this is the last version that can use modified galleries that I was able to since CS3. My modified pages have links to other pages on my web site, while the ones that now come with Photoshop are dead end with no links.
So, another feature lost in later Bridges is the ability to show ALL the contents of a folder and its subfolders. To get around this, I choose to show folders whose metadata or filename DO NOT contain zzz, since none do. This has worked fine and I have made hundreds of galleries from my phylogenetic folder trees of species.
     Until I came to this gallery of Tachinidae. I have been updating all my Arthropod species galleries After I did the usual procedure, and created the gallery (and deleted the previous gallery both on my PC and the web), I noticed that the first image was a Belvosia, and there were non of the Archytas or other species that should have come before, alphabetically. I tried again and found that it was ignoring a lot of files in some subfolders that should have come up. I tried other finds, like all files ending in .tif, or all that had the keyword Tachinidae, and always the same result.
     Then I tried the same search in CS6 and it finds all, but of course I can't make my galleries here, I went back to CS5 and made a new folder TACHINIDAE 1 and moved all the files there and tried again, with no success. I tried a backup file with the same result. Rebooting didn't help.
     Today I tried again and as it did the search, I could see it indexing the Archytax subfolder and others that were not included, but now after over 30 minutes, all I have is a spinning circle and no items. I had gone back to other folders that I had made galleries of just before and they pull up all the images, as before, but this has stopped my progress in this project dead in my tracks.
     I can't make any sense of this at all.

Well now it's not working at all. I moved the folder to a higher level of my directory tree, with the same result. then I just tried a subfolder and it quickly found that there were no images, either that didn't have zzz or that ended in .tif.
Than I tried another family folder and it quickly found no images according to the criteria. So now the search function just doesn't work.

Works well on IE, though I'd like to stick with FF.

I want to search a registry (local Registry Server) for organizations by name using the Registry
Browser. But I get the message No organizations found. When doing a search by classification the
object is found and has the name i was searching for.
Then I've try the search with this one:

Can anybody tell me what's wrong?

I experienced the same problem when trying to run the examples in the Web Services Developer Pack 1.0_01. I found out that there seems to be a bug in the UDDI registry when using a different locale then en_US.
When I use sv_SE as locale I dont get any hits when querying the registry by name, querying by classification works. Also ; if I get a hit the name and description fields are empty (this causes a NullPointerException in the JWSDP portal example)
If I switch to en_US locale both querying by name and retrieving description works fine.

Smart Folder with "Comment" as search criteria doesn't work

I am using Lion (OS 10.7.5), and am unable to define a Smart Folder in which the search criteria is a particular Comment in "Get Info". Nothing appears in the folder. In System Preferences, Spotlight lists under "Search Results" 15 different categories, but "Comments" is not one of them.
Any advice on why this doesn not work?

Can't 'find' using multiple criteria anymore

Did something change in Finder such that we can't set multiple criteria for searches any more? Or is my Finder corrupt in some way?
In a finder "Find" window, I have the search bar showing "This Mac" the current folder and the options "Contents" and "File Name" -- then there's "Save" and the little '+' icon. It used to be I could add additional search criteria by clicking the '+' (such as file visibility, extension, etc.) -- but now, clicking the '+' just opens an empty space below the existing search bar.
Is there a 'Simple Finder' setting somewhere that got switched without my knowledge causing this? Or is my Finder borked?

Well, I'd try moving the finder prefs file, but last night when I went to restart my MBP to deal with something else, on restart all video was gone. I even tried booting into the Apple Hardware Test on the Leopard install DVD, and while it seemed to boot up okay, there was nothing on the screen at all.
Took it into an Apple Store this morning, and they ran a test, and found the graphics card/chip not even registering - so it looks like I'm into a new logic board. Thanks goodness I got AppleCare this time!!
So, when I get my baby back, I'll see if the Finder issue is still there, and if so, then I'll try moving the finder prefs file out.

Find Command in iCal doesn't work

I have tried to use the Find Command in iCal. It doesn't work either from the Edit pull down command nor the keyboard command. Please try this in your setup and tell me whether it works?
I have an Intel Mac Mini running 10.4.9.

Hi Bob,
It works for me.
Find will only search in selected calendars. Do you have the relevant calendars checked in the calendar list? (you can select all calendars by Command-Clicking one checkbox)

Search Region Source doesn't work for some searches

I am updating a table, and I wanted to search our Apex app to see what reports are using the table. I typed in the table name and no results came back.
I knew of one report that definitely uses that table, so I went to it, copied the table name from the query source, and tried the search again - Still no results.
I tried a different table name, and got a whole bunch of hits.
The table name that doesn't work is floor_suite_billing
I even tried partials of that name, but I do not get the report that uses that table.
Is there something I am missing?

Search 1D array doesn't works.

Hi.
I have a bunch of data. Let say 48000 elements. And from it, I try to search, one element using 'Search 1D array' .
However it doesn't work as wanted.
I put an indicator on output of the 'Search 1D array' , but the value always "-1".
Anybody could help me. Please refer to my VI as reference. The 'Search 1D array' is used under case structure of "Synchronize Pressure and Alpha".

Metadata searching - multiple criteria?

Just wondering if it's possible to set multiple criteria in a metadata search? For example, imagine I have some photos where the captions include the words "Bob Jones" and some where they contain "Bob Davies". Is there any way to search for 'caption includes BOB' AND 'caption does not include JONES'.
I appreciate that in the example above I could just search for 'Bob Davies' but this is a simplified example!

Well the only other ones mentioned in the help are "+" at the start of a word for "starts with" and "+" at the end of a word for "ends with". There are other things I'd like to do; for example, I have photos with the following metadata in the title field:
Photo 1: Bob Jones
Photo 2: Bob Davies
Photo 3: Bob Jenkins
Photo 4: Bob Williams
Photo 5: Bob Smith
How can I search for Bob AND (Jones OR Davies)? Is that even possible? I know I could do it with a Smart Collection, but I find it much easier to do stuff like that with a quick text search. I often also don't need to save the results, just to see what pops up - creating a Smart Collection seems like overkill.

Search in ical doesn't work

I am using 10.7.4 and my iCal search doesn't work. When I type in a search term, the results pane is blank.

Have you tried to...quit iCal, open System Preferences>Spotlight>Privacy, and add your Macintosh HD to the list?
Wait a couple of minutes, and then remove your Macintosh HD from the Privacy list. You should notice (after a short delay) that Spotlight is reindexing your HD. After Spotlight completes the index, open iCal and see if your search works.

Find my iphone/ipad doesn't work

I open this discussion because find my iphone/ipad doesn't locate it when it conected on wifi and with the location and find my iphone/ipad activated.
I have tried everything that you can imagine and what you can't thing for solve this problem... Deactivating and activating the switches for location and FMi, deleting the icloud account, using another icloud account, and even restoring the device and reinstalling it from zero... I don't have any other idea and I hope someone can help me on it.

It could be the router (if you are using wifi). First try rebooting it and testing.
It could be that your ISP hasn't associated a location with the router (this is needed for location to be determined). In this case there's nothing you can do. To test for this case, try FMi at a public wifi location (most of them have the routers properly identified). If it works at one such spot, then you'll know it's your router. If not, then I can't offer any more suggestions, as the list you give above pretty much covers the usual troubleshooting routines.
An iPhone shouldn't have such problems, since it has GPS onboard. Likewise a 3G iPad has GPS (the wifi only versions do not).

Location bar search/keyword feature doesn't work the same as 3.x

In 3.x I could type anything in the location bar and it would "resolve" it. I could type "google maps" and it would go to maps.google.com, "yahoo mail" and it would go to mail.yahoo.com. And if it couldn't figure it out then it would do a google search.
Now, in 4, if I type the same things I get "This URL is not valid and can't be loaded." I tried to disable the fixup feature to see if that was interfering but that didn't help. I liked it the old way when I just typed what I was thinking and it would take me where I wanted to go. I've verified this many times as I still have 3 at home and 4 at work.
I also hate that the refresh button moved.

I have this same issue- I have tried changing it the way you say to, but every time I close the browser it resets and I have to change it every time I search- I should be able to type in "target" and be taken to target.com- it says that this works, but all it does is search for target and it won't even do that unless I change the settings every time I open the browser- I never had any problems with 3.5 or 6 and I am going to uninstall 4.0 and go back- it doesn't work like an updated browser should- it is worse!

Buttons with multiple actions doesn't work in v32.1

We had buttons in our previously published folios that bring one multi-state object to first state and second MSO to other state which depends on which button is pressed. It works in app v32.0 and lower, but it doesn't work longer after trying to update our app to v32.1.
If there is no more possible to have buttons with more than one action, I think we should be warned in What's New in Relaese v32.1 notes. Because it's not happen we consider it as a bug. Can someone please tell us whether this is a permanent change to button functionality in DPS folios or if it is happen by mistake?

I was wondering if you were able to see my post today about problems with MSO's and whether you were able to get any solutions for the previous posts on this thread?
I have been in contact with the Adobe support team with regards to the problems I am having with the App I've created and sent the App and some sample indesign files for them to look over. They have been really unhelpful and just given me this as the response:
I have also researched about this issue and would like to inform you that there are several changes which have been incorporated in iOS 8.
So apps which are created and working with iOS 7 might not work with iOS 8. This is an expected behavior.
You would have to create the app again with compatibility settings with iOS 8 and then release an update for the same.
So altogether there has to be another to be app created for iOS 8.
As we are already 2 weeks over deadline, due to problems with iOS 8, and out of budget to cover the extra work we have had to do so far problem solving these issues, I really hoped for something better than this response.
Are Adobe really not looking into a fix for this? Is the only solution to limit the interactivity and functionality of DPS apps so they work within the new restrictions of iOS 8?
Any help would be really gratefully received.
