Finder - Shared: How do I find the path that is mounted?

Hi,
I have recently upgrade to Lion (and I am not happy, but that is another story...)
I have a file server that support the AFS protocol and others.  It also allows a chunk of space to be allocated for Time Machine.  The iMac's Time Machine backups are done to this.
My iMac's Finder shows three shared under "Shared" for this device:
FileServer (CIFS)
FileServer (AFP)
FileServer
When I select either of the first two, they show me all shares known to the file server - which is two mirrored disks plus some named shares which are directories on those disks. This is what I expect - I have done a Go To "address of FileServer" and I have mounted its top-level shareable directory.
The third one fails to mount.  I just get "Connection Failed'.  I am trying to work out what it is trying to share, but I cannot find any visible information about what it is tryng to mount.  Get Info reveals absolutely nothing - in fact Get Info seems to tell us nothing about shares whatsoever.  For all shares, it reports one thing under "General" - which is "Kind - Mac" which is correct in some cases - the Macbook and the Mini, but wrong for the CIFS mount for FileServer.
What I would really like to do is delete this thing, but I cannot do that either - There is no Delete option in the context menu, and the Delete key does nothing.
So I have three questions:
How can I find out what it thinks it is trying to mount?
How can I delete it?
What OS do I use when Apple finally completes the process of dumbing down the OS to the point where my 86-year-old mother can't stand to use it because it is too patronizing?  (And no, not Linux.  I have been keeping an eye on it for 10 years and it will be ready for prime time long after I'm dead, at the current rate of progress.)
Thank you for your help

Thank you, I have just found that the sound effects for the Alarm is located in the
Library
Audio
Apple Loops
Apple
iLife Sound Effects
Foley
I can not have her install the sounds onto her iPad. She is in love with the Bell Tower, my wife also is in love with the sound. We find it a very soothing sound to be waken up to.
thank you.

My iMac holds my main iTunes account and it shows 4 devices are authorized to play iTunes.  I can only name 3.  How do I find out a list of all the devices that are authorized from this computer?

I don't believe this is possible, but you can deauthorize all your computers and start over if you are concerned.

  • I captured from mini-dv camcorder to FCP7 using control from my computer and firewire. I cannot find the file or clips I transferred anywhere except for in Finder. How do I get the clips from Finder to FCP7. Also I did not see audio on the computer meters

I captured from mini-dv camcorder to FCP7 using control from my computer. I only find the capture clip in Finder. How do I get the clip in Finder to FCP7.
Also my audio in the capture was not showing up on my audio meters on my computer-is this normal. Thanks

you will not see the audio meters from within fcp move while capturing.
If you only see the captured clip in the finder, not within fcp, there's something wrong.  You might try deleting your fcp preferences

    Hi,
Tap the iPod icon in the Dock. Then tap the Airplay icon just to the right of the volume slider.
Make sure the iPad speakers are selected, not your wireless.

  • HT4859 how do you see the items that are backed up to iCloud -  I have 4.5 GB that I have used but I cant find where to see those items...help

how do you see the items that are backed up to iCloud -  I have 4.5 GB that I have used but I cant find where to see those items...help

That is everything in your iCloud account.  Videos and camera roll photos are only included in your backup, the size and content of which you can see on your phone in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage>tap the name of your device under Backup.  This will show you the size of "Camera Roll", where these are contained.  (You can't see any detail beyond that.)  Photo stream photos can only been seen in your photo stream album on your phone, and they don't count against your storage so they aren't part of the 4.5 GB.  Everything esle is either in the backup, the items listed in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, or on icloud.com, where you can see your contacts, calendars, etc.

  • How do you see the path in Yosemite?

How do you see the path in Yosemite? What is the command to reveal the path to any given file? Is it somewhere in Finder?

    This is even better:
    Open the Terminal application
Enter the line below exactly as it appears (Copy/Paste may/not work: highlight the line of text > switch to the Terminal app > cmd-v):
defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool TRUE
*Note: there are single spaces after 'defaults', after 'write', after 'com.apple.finder', after '_FXShowPosixPathInTitle', and after '-bool'
    Then hit enter
That's it! Go ahead and Quit Terminal (cmd-Q).
    Now:
Close any Finder windows you have open.
Open a new Finder window, and it should look like this:
You can then get rid of the path bar at the bottom:
Finder Menu > View > Hide Path bar -- or just use the keyboard-shortcut: cmd-opt-P

  • HT4796 How can I take the files that were migrated from my PC to my Mac and add all those files to my current user instead of having 2 users?

How can I take the files that were migrated from my PC to my Mac and add all those files to my current user instead of having 2 users? Having to log out just to sign in on a different user to access the files is absurd.
Do I make all the files sharable to all the NOW users on the mac then just delete the files? Or can i erase my account that I made when starting up my new mac and then just use the one with the transferred files?
I just dont want to have to og in and out of 2 different accounts .. Help please.
    -Nina

Sorry. /Users is a folder path. It would be similar to C:\Users (if that exists on Windows).
So, in the Finder, select Computer from the Go menu.
You'll see Macintosh HD, double-click that to open it.
In there you'll see several folders. One is Users. That is where all the user Home folders exist. Select the other account's home folder and go to step 3.
If you have any more confusion, please stop and ask. We'll get there.
If you feel more comfortable, you can just log into that other account and move the files into /Users/Shared.
Then, log into the account you wish to use and copy the files from the Shared folder and paste them into your Home folder, wherever they belong, Documents, Music, Pictures, etc.  That just takes a little more work. Transferring them into Shared, and then copying into your home sets the permissions on the files so that you won't have a problem accessing them later. The steps I provided just prevent you from having to do the double move, since you are not going to use the old account once you are done.
Quick unix shorthand. If someone gives you a file path that begins with a /, that means the root of the hard drive, ie Macintosh HD (if you haven't renamed it). The path separator in unix is /, not \.
A path that starts with ~/ means your Home folder, the one inside /Users named with your account name.

I probably do not fully understand your question. Based on what I think I understand I offer these suggestions:
    - if you click on your profile, or using the account link on a forum page select profile, then at the bottom of the information of your profile is a list of the responses that you have made. But it displays a limited number of responses.
    - if you use the search feature of the community you might find it by searching on your name, or better to search for some term that was used in the response.

    Hi,
How do you connect the printer to the XP machine ? If USB, you need to make that machine as a Print server. Please try this:
