Finder sort default

After switching to mavericks, the default sorting behaviour of finder appears to be different. Specifically, I'm talking about the behaviour difference between a finder window (A) and the finder window that pops up when I click on Save As when a pdf is displayed in a browser (B).
In finder, I have set the default sort to "Modified Date" for all folders in the hierachy EXCEPT ONE particular folder set to sort by alphabetical. I have verified that in A, all folders show up as sorted by Modified Date including the children of that one exception folder and that one exception folder always sorts by alphabetical. This is the behaviour I want.
Before I switched in mavericks, B also sorts this way. However since switching to mavericks, all folders including that one exception folder always shows up sorted by Modified Date.
Is there a way to make the B kind of finder window also follow my finder default sort options in mavericks? Thanks,

I figured this out with a little hunting around the menus in Finder:
1. Open Finder
2. Click on the Action Button
3. Choose "Show View Options"
4. Click the drop down menu "Arrange By"" and choose "Kind"
5. Click "Use as Defaults" to save the changes
Now everytime the Finder window opens it should default to the view you prefer

Hi Chimbu,
First of all create the new Essbase Server for the corresponding admin server.
And named the Essbase server as LocalHost.
Note one admin server can have multiple Essbase server

Why can't i set my sort default

I am trying to keep my sort default to "file extension" but it keeps changing that option and won't let me make that change permanent. Can someone please advise how to keep my library sort feature to the default I want? It used to keep this for me until I upgraded to CC. I am working on a Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

As designed the default sort order for all folders/collections is "Capture Time" and cannot be changed for new folders.
And "Added order" is the default when selecting the current/previous import collection.
After import you can change the sort order of single folder... it is only applied to that particular folder or collection only (and remains as such for that folder until you change it again)
i.e. you could have a Parent folder showing all photos sorted by capture time and sub folders sorted independently by filename or file type.
If this is not the behavior you currently seeing then it may have been a bug/error that Adobe has corrected in the current version you are using now.

Finder sort issue

I seem to be having a sorting issue.
This order seems odd to me, but like to get your opinions about it.
(This folder is sorted alphabetically by file name.)

In my logic the file 'af 20071130 - groen-geel.doc' should be before the two files beginning with 'af 200802' and not after. Or is this just me?

OS X Finder sorts strings of digits according to their value, not digit by digit. 200802 is less than 20071130. Here is a note on the issue:

Why this message "Could not find layout Default Echo GB"

Why am I getting the message "Could not find layout Default Echo GB" i.e. no Reverb effects?

The new GB 10.0.3 now lets you edit the Master Tracks Effects (Reverb and Echo), the legacy ones from GB11. However, when you click the Edit button at the bottom of the Plugin area on a Track, the Smart Controls window switches to to the Master Track and selects the (new) Effects tab. And this is where it gets stuck. It seems that it can't find the Plugin Settings. Maybe a file path issue.
Anybody had luck to accessing those settings?

Unable to find the default new form for list mylist1 - deploying the list instance via module feature

hi,
am facing a problem deploying a list instance via a feature,
I created the list in the UI with content and views.
Exported the site template as WSP.
Imported into Visual Studio the list instance, pages module and property bags.
Copied into my new solution.
Deploy list instance as a site-collection level scoped feature.
activated the below features :
mylist_ModulesFeature
mylist_ListInstancesFeature
mylist_PropertyBagFeature
List deploys fine with content and views. However, I receive the following error when trying to add a new item: “Unable to find the default new form for list”. The same applies for editing items.
can anyone pls help why i am getting this error ?

Finder Sorts Poorly

This is the way the Finder sorts my files by name:
0001T5
0002CD
0010GS
00021J
0047B6
00047F
This is the way it should sort:

Is there any hack, in a command line in Terminal, perhaps, to get Finder to sort correctly?

"Keep Arranged by..." keeps the names "arranged by" the way Apple hackers prefer to arrange them, not the way humans (ASCII) prefer. You don't have to be a programmer to know there are a few different ways to interpret "alphabetical order". Apple disregarded user interface on this one.
Once again, I believe there is a way in Terminal to set a human-interpretable sort for file names.

Where can I find a default rc.lua for awesome 3.4?

I have upgraded to 3.4 but my config file ain't working .. so (like I don't have any important configs) I'd like to find a default config file for this new version.
I already downloaded awesome-3.4.tar.bz2 from awesome official site but there's no rc.lua in it.

BUG: Finder sorts lists incorrectly???? Unbelievable.

I mostly use the 3 column and list views, and I noticed that Finder sorts incorrectly in BOTH VIEWS regardless of sorting by name up or down (blue highlighted column)! Sorry, but what kind of crap is that? I really would like to post a screenshot, but that is not possible here.

One can copy and paste the whole list from Finder to Text wnd the strange sorting is preserved ... so here is the list: 0 ... 9 are folders.

Finder sorting by kind is grouping most files as "other"

In the last week or two, I've noticed that when sorting a finder window by kind, most files are being grouped under the "other" category.
I realize that many file types don't get their own group heading but now it's throwing everything under there including PDFs and video files (pictures, however, still properly group).
Has there been a change to the way finder sorts by kind and is there a way to force file types into their own groupings when sorting that way?

looks like I had several file types unchecked in spotlight preferences (didn't realize that would affect the nature of the sorting in finder).
re-selected them, rebooted and it works normally again.

I go to Applications to see if
GarageBand has changed and dthere is no change, still 1.42GB of file size ‹
no evidence of the 10+ GB that the installer told me I was downloading, no
evidence in my download folder that I downloded anything, and most
important, when I click on ³Effects² I¹m back to the same error message.
I¹ve been at this now for about 3 hours.
Downloading the extra content will take a very long time.
When the download has finished, the prompt for the password will appear and the installer will continue to run in the background.
Let t run. As long as GarageBand is still installing, it will give a warning, when you try to quit.
When you can quit GarageBand without a warning, restart your Mac.
The size of the GarageBand application will not change, but you should be seeing more loops. They are installed in the System Library, and the folder "Library" on your Macintosh HD should by now be 10GB larger.
