Finder unable to sort file name in Column mode

Hi Guys,
About 2 weeks ago suddenly Finder are unable to sort files in alphabetical order in Column mode.
About the same time when my external HDD died (don't know whether this has any effect).
Sorting by name works fine in icon only mode, but whenever I switch to Column mode its completely disorganized.
And when I tried in coverflow mode its alphabetical but in inverted mode (Z to A).
I tried verifying disk permission and repairing it to no effect.
Any clues on how to fix this?

"unable to create *file name*" error

I imported videos from ipod touch to iphoto. Then i try to export the videos on either desktop or external hard-drive and it gives me the "unable to create *file name*" error in both cases. To export videos i go FIle-Export, choose kind "original". Tried to do it with several different albums, and it doesn't work on any of them. Didn't have an issue for exporting pictures though.

In OS X Lion, Finder will not "Arrange By Name" in "Column view".

If I select "Arrange By > Name" in "Column View" in any window, nothing happens. This is a massive inconvenience. I attached an image of a finder window of my applications below, in which the Column view with arrange by Name is configured, but the applications haven't been resorted by name.
It will arrange by name in Icon and List views, but not in Column view. Does anyone know how to solve this? Is it a glitch inherent to OS X Lion that Apple didn't catch?

There seem to be a few glitches in the Arrange/sort model.
You can actually Arrange by and Sort By separately. You can get to the Sort options by holding down the Option key while selecting the Arrangement button.
However, there aren't any sort options when you Arrange by Name. And it doesn't change the sort by option when you switch to Arrange by Name.
Try setting the Arrange by to None. Then, hold down the option key and press the Arrange button. What is it sorted by?

Using Finder search not displaying file names

I'm running 10.6.4 and searching from the finder on an Xserve for a file name 00035.png but it's not showing in the results.
Any ideas?

To clarify your question, when you perform the file search through finder, at the bottom of the window is there a place where it says "x items" and is the number shown there greater than zero?
I am having trouble understanding if your search is returning results but they aren't being displayed, or if you're searching for a file you know is on your drive, but it's not being identified.

How to insert the file name to column

When user upload the file, in order to avoid the double file name conflict, so I need to change the file name to something else, but I still need save the former file name to some column to download the file with correct file name, I know how to rename and upload file, but I don't know how to catch the file name and save it to some column when using addt insert transaction?

As I said earlier, you have to maintain the list of filename's "itemdescr" in different temp file and load it an and when required table instead of checking for round robin functionality. If you are looking forward that oracle sqlldr can able to access the filename as one of the parameter then - it might not possible AFAIK.
else perform the direct insert on the table from sqlclient.

Unable to change file name in Metadata pane - Lightroom 2

I can't seem to activate the file name area in the Metadata pane in the Library module. It is solid gray and I cannot make the area active. With the correct folder active, the files seem to be normal in all visible ways, but the ability to change the name is not available. This is true in Grid or Loupe views. It is true with only one Active image. Any thoughts?

Are the images on-line? Though that shouldn't make a difference. You should still get a non-grayed out filename and get a warning dialog, instead if you try to set a name change.

Using Actions to SaveForWeb: Unable to keep file name

ENVIRONMENT:
start with an AI document, saved as an eps.
I have Actions to format the graphic. (one layer)
GOAL:
Am trying to automate a Save For Web, resize and KEEP THE FILE NAME, with only the file TYPE changing.
PROBLEM:
I wrote an Action specifying a particular folder to save the jpg to. If i run the Action it will default to the name it was originally saved with. For example, one.eps will save as one.jpg. two.eps will save as one.jpg.
If i delete or rename the folder, the file name will default to the FOLDER NAME. For example one.eps will save as "ExportFolder.jpg"
MY QUESTION:
Does anyone know how to make it keep the file name of the individual file? or any other tips on using Actions to export.

I understand what you are saying but for some reason I'm not able to get my code working based on the below, can you see what I might be doing wrong? My script isn't erroring but I'm second-guessing if I'm actually connecting. I had to

Showing file names in Slideshow mode

Anyone know how to show the image filename in slideshow mode?
I often use Slideshow to help me pic out the strongest images in a set, but it would be really good to be able to see the file name so I could more easily remember them! Seems you can have the stars on ther, but little else, which is a shame

Activate Text Overlays in Overlays panel (right side). Click on ABC button on toolbar below image, choose Filename. Position and size as required

When I try to save a document in Pages 9.5, a popup states "unable to open (file name)" How can this be fixed?

This is a very spiratic problem but it seems to occur when I am trying to save something very important. When I type the document, go to file, and click save, a popup comes up. I select the folder and name the file. That popup then disappears. Another popup appears stating that the file cannot be oppened. This is on Pages 9.5. It is the new Pages you can download from the App Store. I have already reinstalled it and am still haing the same problem. It has happened in Keynot once and a few times in Numbers. Is there any thing that can be done? Is anyone having this problem as well? I will upload a picture of the popup next time it happens. Thanks!

File name sort

Bridge sorts file names in what might be called "logical sorting." However I have many folders with numerical names (based on case numbers) and finding any particular one is like searching through a haystack. Is there any way to get Bridge to sort files I so I can easily find what I am looking for?

Just taking a guess here, but if wrong sure someone will correct my mistake.
You sent the folder view which I believe is sorted according to windows standards like numbers first then alphebetical. If this is important to you, experiment with exactly how the folders are arranged so you can find them easier. Don't believe it is a random order. There is a hierechial order with spaces, symbols, letters, and numbers that set the weight as to what is ranked first.
In folders you can sort files by a number of different metadata fields, or sorting manually.

Unable to download file from FileDownload UI Element - Java Web Dynpro

Hello Experts,
I am facing a strange issue.Scenario is:
I created an java web Dynpro application (Please note that it is just a standalone WD app, not integrated in portal) with just one FileUpload UI Element ,one FileDownload UI element and one button (for triggering an action).
I browse a file (e.g. text,pdf,doc etc.) and click on button. It uploads the file and when I click on download, there are two cases:
1) Simply click on download does not downloads the file and shows error: "Unable to download <file name> from <server name>. Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." Though it is opening the file,showing the content.
2) I opened that portal URL in a new tab in same session and logged in with a portal user. Now if I click on download link of same WD app opened in different tab of same session, it downloads the file without any error.
I am using portal 7.0
Can somebody point what's going wrong with case 1?

Hi Sid,
I did not gave any authentication of WD app as it is anonymous app. There is no parameter set in application properties.
As I run the app, it is showing the initial screen with UI elemtns and till upload works fine,.It has to be an anonymous app, so cannot ask for credential from user.

File name of Document stored through OAAD

Hi Experts,
We are using tcode - OAAD to store any document against employee.
Following are the inputs provided to the system while storing the
document.
1. Business Object - The value used in our case is "PREL"
2. Document type - The value used in our case is "HRIRESUME"
3. Personnel Number
4. Infotype number
5. Date of origin
6. File path - path from the presentation server
We can display the document using tcode PA20.
Every time the system generates a different file name.
We are not able to find out the actual file name which was specified
while entering the file path.

Below is the my requirement.
I have a folder, in that folder I have bunch of text files. The file name is below format
ACA_122_pay_20140430_001
Initially the file name start with ACA code,groupid,group name and date time stamp. This is the standard structure of file name.
I want to check each and every file in the folder with this structure. The structure should be standard for all the files. If the structure same for all files I need to get codes form file name. For example
If you see the below file name, I need to get ACA and put into variable,I need to get 122 and put into variable. For group name and date time needs to put in variable.
If the file format is not valid state then I need to log exception.
Let me know if I am not clear.
Kindly provide the C# code for achieving the above requirement.

Need to reference file name within the XML Output

Not sure if this is possible, as I'm new to the livecycle/XML world. But I need to be able to reference a file within the XML output from the PDF.
The Scenario is that a pdf form of a business card will be issued to 50 franchisees for them to type in their names and mobiles, click submit and the XML file to be sent to myself, and be imported in to InDesign populating their data ready for printing. Up to here I have it working perfectly.
However as each franchisee have a combination of up to 5 logos to place in the bottom corner to save having to have various templates with different combinations of logos and having to ensure the correct templates are used. I intend to reference each companies combination as an EPS and make the reference within the xml out and have it import directly in with the other data. I can type the code directly within the xml but I would like to have the form reference it directly in the xml output. Is this possible or am expecting to much of livecycle? Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Problems with replace file name with starting and ending Bates number

When applying Bates numbers to a set of Acrobat pdf files I am unable to replace file names with the starting and ending Bates number. This is important
for me in a legal application.
The Bates numbers are applied to each page of each of file without any problem as required.
The Bates log file indicates that the files have been renamed as I wanted.
I am running Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 with the update to 9.1.9 and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (the last or current service pack)
In all other respects Adobe Acrobat 9 is running to my satisfaction.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
