Finder window keeps opening up and popping up in front of all windows

Every minute or so a finder window opens and pops up in front of all open window - including the window I am working in (no matter which application). It does not even open to my regular finder - it opens to a sub folder that is on the sidebar as a shortcut. Might have started after security update that was not necessarily completed because after 6 hours I tried to cancel, then force quit, it wouldn't work, so I forced the computer to restart.

You don't. That is how it works. It is a verification process. Would you like anyone that picked up your phone to be able to make purchases? I don't think so.

Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

  • ITunes Tutorials Window Keeps Opening Upon Start Up

There is no option on that window to never show up again. I went through all of the iTunes settings, preferences and other options but I could not find any sort of check box or anything to have the tutorials not show up upon iTunes start up.
How do I keep this window from popping up?

That seems to have fixed it!
The first time I quit and restarted iTunes, the tutorial window did come up again without a Show at startup box near the bottom. I thought your suggestion hadn't worked so I quit iTunes again. Then, upon a second restart, the tutorial window didn't show up at all. So I guess it is fixed then. No window at all was ultimately what I wanted.

  • Itunes window keeps opening up

Yesterday when I connected my ipod touch to the computer, an update to itunes downloaded, successfully I believe.  However, now the itunes window/program keeps opening up on my computer by itself.  I will close it and then 10 or so minutes later it opens up again.  Very annoying.  Does anyone know what this is happening and how to stop it?
    Thanks.

  • Safari keeps opening tabs, and ads appearing on websites in different locations

I love using Safari, however 2 days ago, Safari started acting strange. First off, I am seeing ads on websites, which they shouldn't appear, for example on youtube, I start a video and a ad appears above the users name and subscribe button, and on another website, an ad banner or what ever appears on the center of the screen. Next every time when I click a link, or search anything, I get tabs opening to other web pages (Like Mac Cleaner, and websites with a phone number) non stop (even though I have Ad blocker on and pop up blocker on). Any idea what is happening?

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • Since updating to 25.0.1, spam windows keep opening up

Typically, the 2nd window opens if I click on an open page; the 2nd window contains spam (unsolicited ads). I do not know how to stop this. Today, PC Cleaner(?) opened a new tab; other unknown and unrequested tabs "volunteer" themselves. This is an ongoing problem since the last update. Help!!! I have used FireFox for years without any problems, and recommend it to everyone with a computer. Please advise me on how to stop all this unwanted garbage!!!

hello SDMcRoy, this sounds like some sort of adware/malware is active on your system. please try these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • When I press tab, an annoying icon bar pops up in front of my window showing all my open windows, how can I stop this?

Whenever I use the tab key on my keyboard to try to move between fields on the screen, instead of moving the curser I get an icon bar that pops up in front of the the window, showing all my open windows. I don't want this to happen anymore, please tell me how to stop it.

Sounds that Windows thinks that the Alt key is (still) pressed.
Does it help if you press all status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times?

  • Folder windows keep opening

I have a folder on my desktop that stays selected even when I click on the desktop or another folder, and every now and then the folder window opens over and over, until I have 30 or 40 open windows on the desktop. Sometimes when this is happening MSword will open too.
I have no idea what's going on or how to stop it. Any help is much appreciated!
    thanks, sef

Not sure what you've done, but have you tried a restart?

  • Late 2013 15" rMBP Can not DL Windows drivers. Get this pop-up "This Mac only supports Windows 7. Do you want to continue?"

Whenver I try to DL the Windows drivers from Bootcamp Assistant, I get a pop up that says "This Mac only supports Windows 7. Do you want to continue?".  I click continue, but the download always fails stating "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." and the utility shuts down.  This has happened for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 iso's.
I've chatted with support online and they basically led me through the steps of resetting the SMC and PRAM, but this has not worked.
The odd thing is, Bootcamp assistant was able to download the drivers successfully the first couple of times, only to fail during the installation of Windows, with the infamous "Can not load boot configuration" error.  Ever since those first couple of times, I am unable to succesfully download the drivers.
    Frustrating...any ideas?

The first time I installed windows 7, I had no issues what so ever. Then I decided to installed windows 8.1. So I went ahead removed the windows 7 partition via BootCamp. When I tired to install windows 8.1, I ran into the exact same issue. I went ahead and tired to reinstall windows 7 and the issue persisted.
Would be nice to find a solution for this problem.

  • HT4796 When I run migration assistant on my PC, I get a message saying windows mail is running and won't let me proceed.  Windows Mail is not running. I checked Task Manager's applications, services and processes and found no references to Window's Mail.

Got a new iMac 27" for Christmas (well a little after) and tried using Migration Assistant to transfer some files.  I can't get past a window on the PC that pops up indicating Quit Other Programs  Before you can transfer your information, the following programs must be shutdown:  Windows Mail  Close these programs and run Migration Assistant again.  If these programs do not appear to be running, restart your computer and try again.
I've rebooted.  I've searched Task Manager - Applications, Processes and Services and there are no references to WMail.  I don't or haven't knowingly used Windows Mail and Outlook isn't even installed on my PC.  Does anybody know how to get around this without using external drives, USB flashdrives, etc.

Lots of fun.... The superdrive in my Macbook seems to have gone off kilter since my install. Now the CD-R won't work regardless of which operating system I use. Normal CD's and DVD's are fine, but any CD-R is taken as a blank disk.
Using an external CD drive solved this problem.
