Finder window scroll bar behaviour

Hi folks,
In a finder window in icon view normally I can scroll down to the end, go up to the enclosing folder and then back into the starting window and the scroll bar will be at the bottom, where I left it, which is perfect. Just recently it will always postion itself at the top of the window now, which is annoying to say the least. Any thoughts on why the finder behaviour changes apparently at random. I don't think there is a full moon tonight...
Cheers,
Matt

Any other ideas?
Yes just one more. Playing around with this in Finder, if the window is open wide enough there is no jump back. Least that's how it works for me, and I do keep that 'spring thing' deselected as a matter of course.

Not sure why that was unchecked but good to know!
Apple's new default (since at least a couple of OS releases back) is to have it off so OS X matches the behavior of an iPhone or iPad.
I almost never need a scroll bar, and when I do, I just move over to the edge of the window when scrolling and a larger scroll bar appears.
Yes, for the most part, users don't really need the scroll bar. That's what the scroll wheel on almost all mice is for. Saves the trip over to bar to physically grab and move it. But, I do like it on all the time regardless. That way (especially with a long article) I can just take a quick glance over to the bar to see about where I am on the page (a third of the way down? halfway?). Otherwise, I have to move the page just to make it appear to give me the same information.

  • Scroll bar behaviour

    Hi all!
We've had some complaints from endusers that the SAP scroll bars do not respond until released.  Then the content is scrolled.  They use scroll bars a lot in TMW (Time Manager Workplace)
They want it to behave like a Windows scroll bar so the contents are scrolled when they move the scroll bar.  Not just after releasing the mouse button.
Is it possible to change the behaviour of the scroll bar???
    Usefull replies will be rewarded.
    Kr,
    Jonathan

    Hi,
In my knowledge, there is no way to scroll contents with scroll bar in SAP

  • Lost Finder Horizontal Scroll Bar

I can't seem to find my finder horizontal scroll bar. Even when I set scroll bars as show "all the time".
    Please see the screen shot.
There is no horizontal scroll bar. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I just made each item listed the min width and this let me resize the window to ditch the horziontal scroll bar. This helped but did not solve the issue on how to lock it to the left or turn it OFF.
    Thanks

  • Not to display window scroll bar on the layout

    Hi all,
when i am seeing the o/p layout in that i dont want to display window scroll bar kindly tell me how to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Naveen

    hi,
sctroll bar in window can't be controlled if your layout is broader so you will need to make your layout such that it fits in the o/p window.

  • MDI Window Scrolls Bars Displayed

    We are having a problem with scroll bars displaying that we don't need or want. This happened when we converted from forms 5.0 to 6i. We have the window scroll bar properties set to "no", when-new-window-activated trigger has: SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);
SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('SITES_REF_WINDOW',WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);. We've also tried this in the when-new-form-instance - with no luck. We've also played around with canvas and window sizing. How do we get rid of these extra scroll bars??

If you are in Client Server you can run in Single Document Interface mode - USESDI=YES on the command line

  • Does anyone else find the scroll bars too narrow.

Does anyone else find the scroll bars too narrow?  I have to select them several times.  Otherwise, I love OS X Lion

We NEED Snow-Leopard Width Scroll Bars ( and Arrows too )
Correction YOU need. I am glad to see them gone. Forgotten all about them, so please don't speak for everyone.
So Lion is still Broken… and Mountain Lion does not seem the fix the issue either…
Lion is not broken, you are simply having a lot of trouble adjusting to it and trying to forget your old habits. Lion is fine. And Mountain Lion not applying the 'fix' you believe is required does not bode well for your future usage and thus reverting to Snow Leopard may be your only hope of regaining these outdated features.

  • I am about to throw my new Mac Book Pro 15inch out the window!! Does anyone else have a problem scrolling e-mails!?? I cannot find the scroll bar that disapears with out continually pulling at the bottom right corner to reveal it and then it disappears!!?

Does any one else have a problem scrolling e-mails ??( I use Yahoo with Firefox) I continually have to tug the corner to reveal scroll bar that dissapears!?
Also using arrows to scroll website doesn't always work either? Is this because I've bought a 15inch instead of my old trusty 20inch which didn't have this problem?

Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., "15-inch mid 2012") and which version of OS X are you running? If Mavericks you can go under System Preferences>General and tick the "Show Scroll Bars: Always."

  • Annoying Finder Horizontal Scroll Bar

I have an annoying Finder issue with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8 and maybe someone knows how to fix.  When I have a folder displayed, like the Applicaitons folder, with View opton set to "as List" the Finder displays a long horizontal scroll bar at the bottom that is active. How can I lock or anchor the horziontal scroll bar to the left side. It really gets to be annoying as you mouse scroll up and down the list.  I have the same issue in with Excel and Numbers. If it cannot be locked to the left, can it be disabled or deleted?

I just made each item listed the min width and this let me resize the window to ditch the horziontal scroll bar. This helped but did not solve the issue on how to lock it to the left or turn it OFF.
    Thanks

  • Grey wheel perpetually spins in Finder window status bar.

Why does the grey wheel (Different from the beachball), in the lower right hand corner in the status bars, in some of my Finder windows, continually spin? Some for hours and never stopping.
The Finder window functions normally although sometimes slower than before installing Mavericks.  Have already reinstalled the OS.
It doesn't happen in every Finder window.
I hope it isn't slowing my computer down or causing hardware to overwork.
I'm wondering if things are working properly.
    Can anyone help with this?

This grey wheel in the lower right corner keeps spinning. Never stops. Some windows have it. Others don't.

  • Browser window scroll bars

Can anyone help with ensuring Scroll bars are functional on
    browser window?

    Rob,
Thanks for staying with this. Unfortunatly, I am not getting
scroll bars on Mac or PC, IE, Firefox and Safari. I called Tech
Support and they told me the same thing. They suggested a fix of
placing an empty paragraph after the embedd tag, which I did and
vertical scroll bars appeared. It does not scroll the whole movie
    however.
I use the default html generated by Flash with the new Active
    content .js file.
If you go to these sites, you can tell me if you see scroll
    bars.

  • Scroll Bar on Window

Hi. I have a form where the canvas/window is long. As such the Window has a scroll bar that the user can slide to move the canvas up and down within the window.
Are there any programmatic controls for this? 1) After the user commits their changes I'd like the window to scroll back up to the very top. 2) I'd like the user to be able to use the Page Up/Down keys to move this scroll bar - is this possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. This is the code in my Key-Commit trigger:
-- SAVE AND CLEAR THE FORM
    go_item('rcpt_mpi.mailpiece');
    clear_form(do_commit);
DO_TRIGGERS.ENTQRY;               What do you mean when you say the item at the top of the form should not be visible? Do you mean that the 'visible' property of the item should be set to 'false'?
Right now the item at the top of my form is the first field the user interacts with ('rcpt_mpi.mailpiece'). When the Window scroll bar is at the bottom then 'rcpt_mpi.mailpiece' is not visible simply because it has simply scrolled off the screen. When I save (F10) the data is saved, but the scroll position doesn't change. And when I scroll up manually I find the cursor is sitting in the 'rcpt_mpi.mailpiece' item. So the problem seems to be that the focus isn't changing to 'rcpt_mpi.mailpiece' even after the go_item.
    Any thoughts?

  • Why does long list of files and subfolders scroll to top of finder window when a folder midway or down the list is opened?

I am not sure how long ago this first occured, but when I upgraded to OS 10.8, I was hoping this would correct itself.  Now I am not sure if it is a bug or just the way Finder works.  When I have a Finder window with many files and folders, and I open a folder > midway through the list while previous files and/or folders have already scroll off the top of the window, the window scrolls up to the beginning of the list and I need to scoll back down to wee what is in the folder.
I thought the finder window stayed steady and the folder openned revealing its contents without the finder window scrolling.  The only work around I have found for this is to always double-click a folder open, so it is the new Finder window.
    Problem or not?
    Thanks,
    Ray

About the only thing I can say is to keep going to Verizon, or calling customer service to get them to look at the issues. I talked to 1 rep that told me to dial either 4# symbols, or 4* symbols (Can't remember which it was) after I got the VM message but did not have the phone ring, so it would mark my account record and they could search and troubleshoot the issue.
As far as your upgrade, I think you have done the right thing so far, and that is signing up on this forum, that way you can look at the different phone forums and see what issues that people are having. Talking to people that have the phone is a great way to find out what the issues are. Verizon Sales reps will only sell you the latest and greatest, or if there is something that they are being told to push to get out of stock.
Going with an iPhone is ok, just make sure it is correct for you, because like you said earlier, once it is done, it is done and you are stuck with it for 2 years. I had a friend who made a knee-jerk reaction to a bad phone, and did the same thing. They regretted it after 6 months. I am not saying the iPhone will be bad for you, just make sure you do your homework.
