Finding a Thread by number corresponding to posts in the thread

I apologize for my lack of forum expertise and hope this is a valid question that maybe others have had.
I posted a thread recently and along with the answers in the forum I also got an 2 emails with a corresponding numbers for the posts in the thread. Same Thread but 2 different numbers one corresponding to Nealeh and the other corresponding to Bill Hunt. When I followed the numbered links they took me directly to the Thread and their respective posts. So I discovered that by simply typing a number in the search box it would take me directly to the post of each person and their answer.
For example: 2629977. Thanks for your suggestion Bill and I will check on Muvipix again. I already registered a while back and looked at some of Steves' tutorials on PE7. Fast and furious and he made it look easy.
You guys provide direct links to posts in other threads (through your highlighted Blue links) that might be related to the one currently on screen. Works great. I usually scroll up to the top and read the whole other post to see if related to problems I might have. The question I have is how do I find these numbers related to Threads and/or posts in a certain Thread. I could then take a number and write it on my notepad with the subject matter and when I go back into the form looking for a particular item I just type a number in the searchbox.
If this is already covered somewhere I aplogize again. I typed various things in the search box and didn't see it. Please direct me if I missed it. Thanks for your help.

Each thread has a reply number. This thread will have the number '1' as I am the first responder. If you hover your mouse over a reply number you will see a link in the status bar like "http://forums.adobe.com/message/2634291#2634291". The digits at the end of that link (2634291) is the number you are after. Steve will like this example .
Cheers,
Neale

  • Please allow posting in the suggestions to Ps Win FAQ thread.

I wanted to post in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375803?start=100&tstart=0 in order address an easier version of the suggestion from the following post: 2. As right-clicking the tool icon of the option bar in CS5 gets the reset tool/reset all tool contextual menu, easier than going through two drop down menus to find that hidden yet useful option. But the suggestions threads is locked, nobody can post in there, and the FAQ forum is in dire need of facelift. I could work on it in my spare time, like Mathias used to do it, and as I did in the Camera Raw FAQ.

I agree that perhaps a sticky, or similar, would be useful. I cannot recall seeing anything in the Profiles that defines a MOD/Host. In many cases, these folk are "Community Experts," but there are several exceptions.
I generally put " 2 & 2" together, when I see that ____ has branched a thread, moved it to a sub-forum, has locked it, etc., but that is not always the case. In one particular product forum, we are blessed with several Adobe employees, who also do some "housekeeping" from time to time, so they have a MOD console, but are not active MOD's. Some tell me that in the product forum, where they spend time, there seem to be no MOD's around, or at least visible. I know that some resent any sort of touchy-feely, or the concept of a community, but having the MOD's say hello, would not be a bad idea. We have had a few retire, and they usually stopped by to say goodbye. I am sure that there were subscribers who asked, "who was that? Were they actually a MOD here?"
In my case, the ability to PM a MOD can be very useful. Often posters will fall into the wrong forum, or especially sub-forum. As I cannot move their post to the appropriate location, I just drop a MOD a quick PM, with my suggestion for where the poster would get the most "eyes" and also quicker help. These are usually new posters, who do not read the little messages at the top of, say a FAQ sub-forum, or post with an urgent problem to the Tips & Tricks sub-forum, which is basically a repository for articles on how to do things regarding video-editing, and not really a Q & A forum. Also, I am one of the only people, who go there, as I link to the various articles. Most folk never even see that sub-forum's main page, and only the linked article. A question could well languish for months, before someone stumbled upon it - there, all a MOD needs to do is move the post out to the main forum to get views.
I like your idea, but would anticipate a bit of push-back from some. You get MY vote...
Glad that Adobe Admin got things sorted out for you.

  • Where to find moved threads?

    Hello,
look at the posting Select statement inside a select statement is not working as thought it would.
Initially posted in the (wrong) forum space Forms
I told the OP that it is the wrong forum and later reminded him. He then hold me that he already moved it to the correct space PL/SQL
Interesting, because I cannot see the thread in the SQL space Content Tab (my default). It is only visible in Overview.
Yet in the Forms space I can see it in Content but not in Overview.
The breadcrumb on top of the thread page says that it is in SQL and PLSQL - Discussions.
Just as every sane user would expect, isn't it?
    Regards
    Marcus

Aren't discussions moved because they were posted in the wrong forum space to begin with? What is the point of moving an item if it still shows up in the wrong forum? A note that the discussion was moved because it was posted in the wrong forum does not eliminate the problem or make a difference. How does moving a discussion from one forum space to another affect the communication counter? Personally I prefer not to be bothered about discussions that belong to a different forum space.
I don't know how much effort it takes for a moderator to create the notifications about moving a post, whether it must be done manually or whether the software takes care of it, I hope the later, but it is certainly the fault of the discussion owner and not the moderator or any other user.  I think it is fair enough to expect from the discussion owner to search for the moved item themselves, either in their own account activity or elsewhere, instead of keeping the moderator busy or bother anyone else with information.
My experience so far is that when I respond to a discussion while it is being moved, the content is still attached or updated properly, unlike the previous forum software, which resulted in an error. If a discussion was moved and I don't see it in the forum anymore, no big deal, because I can still find it in my own activity view if necessary. If a discussion was moved and I did not bother to respond, well, thanks and who cares.

  • Small request regarding quoting posts in the screenshots thread

I have a small request for all of you who regularly reply to posts in the screenshots thread - when you quote someone, could you please ensure that the link that shows up in the quoted post is to the full image, and not the thumbnail? It defaults to the thumbnail, and that's very annoying, as you then have to hunt through the previous posts until you find the one that's being referenced, which is sometimes pages back.
    Thanks!

May I ask what's wrong with Imageshack? (an honest question!)
The links to the images are longer, and there isn't an officially sanctioned command line upload tool.
However, what gets to me the most is when people use the "forum code" provided by ImageShack. When you click on the thumbnail, instead of taking you directly to the image, you go to an intermediate page, from which you have to click again to get to the image itself. Here is a perfect example.
Edit: arinlares fixed his post (thanks!), so here are some other examples:

This from deviantART: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 14#p785414 (deviantART is a little more understable, since he's linking to his personal page, but since he's got a link to it in his sig, that seems a little redundant).
As you can see, the same sort of issue.

  • E51 - How do I find my own phone number in phone? ...

    Hi,
It is endlessly frustrating to me but most cell phone manufacturers do not make the ability to find your own phone number in their cell phones an easy task, if at all possible.
I bought a Nokia E51 for use on a trip and have a prepaid SIM in the phone but I cannot find my own phone number. This would not be a huge problem but I cannot call out to get the number off of another phone because roaming is not turned on!! I cannot tell my carrier to turn it on because I don't know my phone number!!! GEEESH!! Please help!!!

  • How to find specs by serial number

    Hello,
A few weeks ago Apple Specs web pages where changed. 9 out of 10 of my attemp to find specs by serial number lead to nothing or wrong model specs.
What is the proper method to find accurates specs by serial number.
    Example?
I have in front of me an iBook G4, 1 Ghz. serial UV***YPH0
The specs web page lead me to a iBook G4 (Mid 2005) 1,33 & 1,42 Ghz. instead of iBook G4 (Mid 2005).
I can't get anything for my MacBook W8***LZ62, just the list of 5 MacBooks released from 2006.
I think that it is important when parts like memory or hard disk are needed.
    Any clue?

So, for now no garantee of good result from Chipmunk or Apple.
John Hubert 1, you said that Apple is aware of that problem? Can I read something about that from Apple?
Thanks anyway for the chipmunk site.
a brody, I was not aware that Chipmunk doesn't always return accurate numbers.
    Thanks for the warning
Model number is also a good hint... when we can find one.
These portables did not have any.
The problem of not being able to get them by serial or model number is when it is time to order memory, hard disk, etc. Stores now have policy that said "you order it, you pay it".
Making wrong order on parts sometime quite costly is not my cup of tea.
I will just have to triple check by model, serial, chipmunk, Kingston and so on to make the right guess
Having a reliable Tech Specs site is certainly not out of range for the braves techs of Apple working as **** to be the best guy for the best products.
Hey! That's sweet don't you think Give us the cake guys.
Have a good day you all.

How can I find my current OS number? (10.5, 10.6)

This is the iPhone forum, not the Mac forum.  You should post questions about your Mac in the Mac forum.
However, to answer your question this time, click on the black Apple logo in the top left corner of your Mac screen, then click on 'About this Mac'.  You'll see your OS version there.

  • HT1391 I have lost my iphone ,can i find it with serial number ??

My iphone devise has been stolen ,i wish to locate it with my serial number ,how could i find it ?

No, you can't trace it via the serial number. If you set up the Find My iPhone service prior to your iPhone going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors: the iPhone is turned on, connected to either the 3G or a WiFi network, or has not had the Find My iPhone service disabled or the iPhone been completely restored. Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. If you did not set up Find My iPhone, check with your cell carrier. Some carriers offer their own tracking service, though you usually have to sign up when you still have the phone and have to pay for the service.
If your carrier does not offer such a service and you did not set up Find My iPhone, then there is no way to track the unit. Notify the police and your cell carrier, and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).
By the way, you posted in the iTunes Store forum, not usually the best place to ask a question about an iPhone.
    Regards.

  • How to find my own mobile number on N96

How do i find my own phone number on the N96? I have an old sim card and do not know the phone number for it. I cant ring another phone as it has no credit. Thanks

I don´t know for sure if there is a way to do it yourself if your own number isn´t within the contacts, but what you can do for sure is go or call the operator and tell them the SIM card number. With that they´ll be able to tell you the phone number.
If you do manage to sort this out by yourself let us know.

  • How do I find my skype ID number?

How do I find my Skype ID number so that I can give it to a caller?  I have gone to My Account and it's not there (only my name and email).  When I click on the Skpye Number tab I am asked to purchase a number.  I thought some calls were free and I don't want to purchase a subscription.  Just need this to give to someone who wants to call me.

Hey, Jackrusl, and welcome to the Community,
With the confusion about Microsoft accounts, Skype accounts, and then mixing in Skype Numbers, I chose to reply to the original poster's question the way I did so as to cover as many possibilities as made sense.  New users to any system can be easily confused by vocabulary and usage.
You ask an entirely different question!  When did you purchase your Skype Number?  You would only have lost it if you did not reactivate the Skype Number subscription within the 90 days your number is held on account for you.  On Day #91, the number would be returned to the pool of available numbers for someone else to use.
Alternately, if that is not what you are asking, check your account details and click on the Skype Number block under the Manage Features heading on your account page dashboard.  You will next see your Skype Number subscription(s) listed.
Did I guess correctly?!  If not, please post back with additional details.
    Regards,
    Elaine
