Finding Administrator User Name

I know the Administrator Password but can't remember the User Name. Is there a way to determine what the user name is for the Administrator?
Thanks

If you have at least one account that has admin privileges, which will be one of those *short names* I pointed to, then open System Preferences, Accounts, click on the lock, supply one of those shortnames, add the password and with the Accounts now unlocked open the other account that you guess may be the Admin's account and view the Username.
If there are several shortnames, work through each one methodically and logically. The number of possible combination are few.
The other possibility is that there is no account that has admin privileges, but you say there is and I believe you.
Postscript: if you are trying to invoke admin privileges, supplying the shortname and its correct password will suffice. There is no need to supply the full Username. Either will work.
This makes me think you may not have the correct Admin password.

If you have only one account, then your admin password is your user password. If you use another account that is not an admin account, then log into your admin account from which you can change the password on your user account.

I have recently acquired an Imac to replace my elderly G4 and wish to transfer the G4 content to the Imac using Migration assistant.  The authentication box has opened on the G4 asking for my administrator user name and password but in a senior moment I find I cannot remember where they are.  Can anyone help me?

    Hello, peterandmo.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps that will walk you through changing an admin account password using another admin account.
Resetting a user's password using an administrator account
Important: Passwords for administrator accounts should not be blank.
Log in with an administrator account. Tip: If you don't know the password of any administrator accounts, see "Resetting the original administrator account password" below.
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences.
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock button if it appears locked; enter the administrator password.
Select the name of the user whose password you want to change.
Click the Reset Password button or the Change Password button.
Enter a new password in both the New Password and Verify fields, and add a Password Hint if desired.
Click the Reset Password button or the Change Password button.

  • Changing Administrator User Name

I am trying to move my itunes files from my old emac to my newer MacBook. I was advised that the admin user names need to match for the relocated itunes files to work properly. I lost my emac disks when we moved a few years ago. What can I do to change the administrative user name on my old emac so it matches my new MacBook?

the mcabook is seeing the emac itunes as an older version and corrupted. It is asking me to re-install itunes on the macbook. Did I do something wrong? I tried to drag the itunes icon from the applications folder of the emac to the macbook applications folder.

  • Changing administrative user name - Model WRT31ON

We can't seem to find how to change the administrative username from blank to a actual name.
Is this able to be done on this model?

No. Linksys only uses the password. And it wouldn't be more secure if there was a user name...

  • Cant find my user name/password and I'm told it's been sent to my e-mail...after 3 days no e-mail.

I'm pretty furious. For days I've been attempting to contact anyone @ Mozilla/firefox. Reason: Last week I downloaded Firefox to replace IExplorer. Everything seems to work fine...EXCEPT...e-mail. E-mail via att.yahoo.com. It runs hideously slow. (It didn't do that w/ Internet Explorer.) I need to know how to fix it.
When I've attempted to access support through Firefox "Get started..." "Get help"....etc. I've been requested to furnish "user name" and "password." Since I misplaced both, I requested Firefox to send it to me. The response I got was "...an e-mail (containing that information) "was sent to the e-mail location" I furnished.
NOPE!! After several days and multiple access each day.....no e-mail from Mozilla/Firefox.
At this point I'm about to share my experience w/ CNET and PC Mag. I must remind you that I'm about half computer stupid...but I learn easily.

  • Cannot find OSB user name

A former colleague set up OSB on a server several months ago. Now I am trying to sign in the "file system backup and restore" area, and need the user name and password that was created. This must be a different user name than OSB Admin -- and of course it's not in our documentation for this server.
Is there a query or config file that might hold the user name? If not, what recourse do I have? Destroying OSB and rebuilding? It was a pain to get working in the first place. (OSB Express / Win2003 / internal DAT72 )
    Thanks ...

Exception: Cannot find bean under name ...
Probable Cause: This is usually seen in association with a problematic Struts HTML SELECT custom tag. The Struts html:select tag behaves differently depending whether one or both of the name and property attributes is specified for its encompassed <html:options> tags. If the name attribute is specified, whether or not if the property attribute is specified, then a bean matching the specified name will be expected in some scope (such as page, request, session, or application). If the matching bean is not found in any available scope, the error above will be seen.
There are two ways to address this. The first approach is to put a bean in one of the scopes so that the html:options might be associated with it. The second approach is to not specify the name attribute and instead use only the property attribute.
Change your Frombean scope from "Request" to "Session", then it works.
    Thanks,
    Thagelapally

  • How an I find my user name

I am trying to help my moter add another email account.  She is not sure what her user name is.  Can someone help me locate it?
    Thanks

Can she remember her password? If yes the call for carrier support to know the user name specified for that particular device. Carrier might ask some question to verify that actual user is asking for the info. If she can't remember the password them use forget password link to know the password assigned to your device.
Follow the below steps to integrate mail ID -
Go to Email Settings icon on your device
Login using the user name and password (if already set by you)
Under Services click on Email Account
Click on Add An Email Account to integrate any POP or IMAP enable email (i.e... gamil, hotmail, ISP mail etc)
To create BlackBerry.net ID click on Create A BlackBerry Email Address
Type your preferred User Name and enter your Password for that ID

  • Changing administrator user name or short name in accounts, OS upgrade

I just inherited an older MacBook Pro. (15-inch, 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo, OSX 10.4.11).
I was able to change most account info, however former user's short name still appears as the short name in adm account and in the home page sidebar. How can I change this? (I understand there is a third party utility -- Change Short Name -- that claims to easily do this, but I'm reluctant to use any third party app if there is a Apple-endorsed way to accomplish the task.)
Do I need to set up a new administrator account on the computer in order to delete his info?
Also, eventually, I need to delete a lot of programs and files from computer. Bloated. My first thought is to simply do a clean reinstall since there's really nothing on the computer that I need. (However the original install discs were lost in a move, and I'll need to contact Apple for replacement.) I've read post advising against this approach because of the number of updates needed and due to uncited problems. Has anyone experienced any problems with this approach on this model -- before I purchase old install discs.
Is better option to purchase Snow Leopard. I have it installed on Mac Pro at work. I like it and have not experienced any problems. Anyone experience problems with SL on this model of MBP.
Thanks in advance for the help.

[Adding a new user account to your computer|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh168.html] You just need to make sure that the new account is set to be an administrator account. Then you log into the new account and remove the old account from there. There shouldn't be any implications to doing this but it is always a good idea to make sure you have a fully bootable (cloned) backup before doing modifications.
As mentioned before, ideally you should just wipe wipe the drive and start afresh. This ensures any corrupt files, or hidden files, are removed. However, you will need the installer disc to do this. Since you no longer have the Tiger one it might be worth just going for Snow Leopard. However, one advantage to getting replacement original discs from Apple is they contain special software for diagnosing problems on your specific model computer that isn't in a retail set of discs.
    Cloning And Backup Tools
A bootable clone is an exact copy of your drive which is capable of booting your computer. Making a copy of your computer which is capable of actually starting the computer requires special copying procedures. Some people just back up data files but if you have problems you have to reinstall all your operating system and all your applications. With a bootable clone you just start up from the backup drive and clone back everything.
To copy files from one hard drive to another hard drive you can use:

  • Finding the user name and password for a game app?

I have a new Kindle Fire. I want to set up the same version of Words with Friends that I play on my S III on my Fire so that I can play with my buddies on either without having a different version on my Fire from my phone.. Do I need to find the username and password I set up in my phone and input it into my Fire and if so how do I do that? Thanks for your help.

    sadiepu1 wrote:
When I set up Words with Friends on my Fire it asked for my username and password which from a previous reply to my inquiry above stated that the S 3 doesn't store due to privacy issues. I have tried all my usual combinations of usernames and passwords and my Fire won't let me access the game as it keeps telling me that one or the other is not correct. I have deleted the app from my Fire and re-downloaded it but have the same error comes up. I have accessed the Words with Friends support both on my phone and their website but there is no live chat. I might have to take both to a Verizon store. Also, my Fire won't let me access the game without a correct username and password. To say that I am frustrated would be an understatement as well I have tried everything I can think of with no luck! Thanks for any help you can give!
Did you use facebook to log in?
Verizon will not be able to help you retrieve any of the information you need.  You will have to contact Zynga.
