Finding copy of RoboHelp 6

I need to present a RoboHelp project in a school computer lab
that only has RoboHelp 6. I want a copy of RH 6 so I can work on
the project at home, but I can only find downloads for later
versions. I heard that once I edit a file in RoboHelp 8, earlier
versions will not be able to open it. An application that would
convert RoboHelp 8 files so they could be read in RoboHelp 6 would
also be helpful.
If you know where I could download RoboHelp 6 or a conversion
application, please help!

Welcome to the forum.
I don't want to think about your username!
You are correct that you cannot open RH8 projects in earlier
versions, the same is true of RH7. To be more accurate, there are
ways of opening the project in the strictest sense of the word
"open" but you would not be able to save any some things would not
work. Also there are no converters so don't waste time looking.
Your main chance is to Google RoboHelp 6. You will likely
find some vendors who still have copies. Negotiate the price
though. Their market for selling them to technical authors would be
very limited. Someone like you is probably their only hope.

  • Plugging in iPod dismounts USB drive-Finder copy

I have 3 USB and 8 FireWire drives in addition to 3 internal drive connected to my Mac Pro. I am running OS X 10.5.2 and when I plug in my iPod classic (160 GB), one of my USB drives dismounts. This happened when I was copying a large amount of data from that drive to another drive. I got the dismount dialog, and the Finder copy progress bar dialog is still left on the screen.
Also, I have never been able to cancel a Finder copy under Leopard successfully. I always have to end up force quitting the Finder.

That's a lot of drives... probably too many.
Is that drive that dismounts on a hub with the iPod? Is it bus-powered (takes power from the hub)? If so, my guess is that the iPod initially takes more power than the hub has left, and that causes loss of connection to the USB drive.
I would keep most of those external drives disconnect and plug them in only when needed. Doing so will make your Mac run faster. And that Finder copy progress bar issue may go away as well.

  • Cannot find 'copy motion as actionscript' in Flash CC

    Hi,
I am trying to copy a tween animation to Actionscript 3.0 code using the instructions from this tutorial: Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Using ActionScript 3 | Adobe Developer Connection
When I select the frames on the time line and right click the menu item "Copy Motion as ActionScript 3" is not there.
I have a "Copy motion as XML" menu item in the Command menu, but can't find "Copy Motion as ActionScript 3" anywhere. Has it been deprecated? Or am I doing something wrong?
Here is the XML code for my test file that get's generated:
    <Motion duration="24" xmlns="fl.motion.*" xmlns:geom="flash.geom.*" xmlns:filters="flash.filters.*">

    Kind Regards from Erlend

i don't know why it was removed, but in general the adobe engineers had to decide which features from the 32bit flash pro (cs) should be added to the 64bit flash pro (cc).  and there were time-constraints so the more features carried-over, the long it would take to release cc.
i don't know if it's better to use xml because i've never seen the need to use either feature, ever.  in fact, i don't use the flash timeline tweening and i don't use the flash tween class.  like many flash professionals, i use a 3rd party library from greensock, tweenlite (usually and lately tweenmax).
and finally yes, cc subscribers can use flash pro cs6:  open your cc desktop app>click apps>filters&versions>previous versions>flash pro install>cs6.

  • 10.4.6 finder (copy / drag and drop) bug

    Any one encounter this?
Brief summary: When copying files from an iMac to external firewire drive the finder (copy) grinds to a halt and eats up all the free disk space on the iMac hard drive
Detailed summary: iMac 20" G5 2.1GHz 1GB Ram 10.4.6 and an external LaCie 500GB firewire drive.
In an effort to move to Aperture I have begun cleaning up my iMac's hard drive which entails moving several gigabytes of jpegs, gif's, raw files, and Quark Xpress files, etc., to external hard drives.
All of these files are sorted into folders and sub-folders based on clients name. This is just a basic 'copy' from iMac to external hard drive. The iMac has about 50 GB of free hard drive space and the external hard drive has about 400 Gb free. Copying (drag and drop) any folder that has more than say a total of 7500 files inside causes the copying to start then grind to a halt. The odd part is that the free disk space on the source machine (iMac) gradually disappears during this process.
Size of the move doesn't seem to matter as it is only when the file count exceeds approx. 7500 that things go wrong. One move entailed 9000 or so files and was only 250 MB but managed to eat up all 50 GB of free space in minutes. The first clue that something is wrong is seeing the warning message pop up stating you start-up disk is full.
The only way to get the hard drive space back is to reboot the machine then all of the free disk space reappears. I have tried to relaunch the finder but that does not reclaim the missing free disk space. Also of note the memory usage never creeps up, as if this was some kind of memory leak. It stays pretty much constant through the whole process which is about 240MB.
Not sure if this matters but spotlight is currently told to ignore image files which is the bulk of what is (trying) to be moved. Also this behavior didn't occur under 10.4.5 or prior point releases.
    Any ideas or thoughts?
    Thanks,
    -brian
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   LaCie external 500GB firewire drive

What is the format used on the external HD?
You did format it for Mac use (HFS+), right?
Yes, the external drive was reformatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) before being brought into use. I have several LaCie drives in different sizes from 250 Gb and up for back ups and never had an issue until now...
Seems to be finder related as if i open the top level folder and grab smaller groups of folders it works fine, just takes forever. So at least that is the work around. I was kind of hoping to just grab a bunch of folders start the copy and go do other things and come back and it would be done...
    Thanks for the reply,

  • Can I get a copy of RoboHelp version 9?

Hard drive crash and need a copy of RoboHelp version 9. Can I get a copy?

I'm guessing that if you didn't keep the CD, you also did not register. The link Willam has given you is legit as you will need the serial number, as you will if you go to Adobe Customer Support. With Willam's link though, it will be quicker and you don't have to provide proof of purchase.

  • Finder copy doesn't copy all files

I have a dedicated disk for my Aperture masters, and to back this up while also defragging (according to a method described by Kevin J Doyle and Matthew Bergsma on the Aperture forum) I'm simply doing a Finder copy of the masters. I may have made a mistake when I relocated my masters a few months ago, because I put all 40,000 files in a single directory, at the "root" level of the drive.
I've searched around to see if there is a limit to the number of items in a single directory, and saw guesses but nothing definitive.
The problem is that when I try to copy the files, the Finder shows all 40,000 selected, but only copies 10,000 or so. I can't figure out why. If needed I can relocate the masters again into project folders, but I'm very curious why I'm seeing the partial copy.
    Rob

I've got the same problem when copying multiple large files from the desktop to a network drive on Windows Home Server (using drag/drop). The files are about 1gb each, and if I copy more than one at a time, at least one will dissapear on the target machine. This is VERY repeatable.
When I watch it closely, I can see temporary files for all files appear, and the number of items, and the total size reported in the copy status on the Mac are correct. In fact, it takes about the correct amount of time for the total size copied. However, when the copy is complete, some of the files on the target drive vanish. There is no error dialog, files just go poof. Dragging the missing files again works, as long as no more than one is copied at a time.
A test with a few small files works fine. This only fails with large files. The total copied is less than 2gb, so this doesn't seem to be a FAT32 problem. There is ample space on the destination drive (over 1Tb free). The Mac is on a wireless 802.11N lan.

  • What are the differences between a trial version and a licensed copy of RoboHelp?

What are the differences between a trial version and a licensed copy of RoboHelp? How is original Robohelp software useful compared to the evaluation version (freely downloaded software)
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
The only difference should be that the trial is limited to 30 days use. All functionality works and nothing is watermarked Trial or suchlike.
The trial of the standalone version allows you to link to FrameMaker documents. It should not and that feature will be disabled if you proceed with the full version. Other than the time limitation, that is the only difference.

  • Problem Stopping Finder Copy to USB Flash Drive

I was attempting to copy my Pictures folder (about 4.5 GB) to a USB flash drive. It seemed to copy OK until it got about a third of the way through and then stalled. I selected the stop copy on the dialog box but nothing happened and the copy dialog box just became grayed out. I could not eject the flash drive either. When I used the Command-Option-Escape key combination, I was given the option to relaunch the Finder, which I selected but then was just left without the ability to use the Finder at all. I resorted to pressing the power button to shutdown and then restarted and was able to eject the flash drive.
Is the Finder capable of copying a file of this size? What causes Finder to freeze up on a copy operation? How else could I have stopped the Finder copying process once it hung? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Steve M.

Before trying the Safe Boot, I tried a different experiment. I just tried using the Finder to Duplicate the Pictures folder. It duplicated fine without problems. Then I repaired permissions on my internal disk and did a repair disk on my flash drive (no repairs needed). Then I tried to copy my Pictures folder to my flash drive again and the process hung right about at 600 MB of data transferred.
I know I'm using USB 1 and that's a slow connection. My previous flash drive was only a 1 GB so I typically never transferred very large files before. I think Finder is working as it should and that I am bumping up against some problem with USB 1 transfers or with the flash drive itself (it is formatted Mac OS extended). I'm using a powered USB hub to plug the drive into and I know the hub is working fine. I guess I could try connecting directly to a USB port on the iMac to see if that helps.

  • Controlling 2nd Display - Find 'Copy' Screen - 2 Questions

I have two questions here, the first should be fairly basic. I just connected a second display using the Mini-DV out to a HDMI cable. The second screen shows my desktop but does not show anything else, are there separate controls to allow certain things on the 2nd display?
My second question relates to the first, my 2nd display shows my desktop but also shows a small box on the left side that says 'Copy' on the top and has 5 separate items listed. The first is for Firefox and says 'An item named "Firefox" already exists in this location... Another says 'Copying 3 items to Clint's Camera' and has a status below that is running in place but has not changed for at least an hour. How can I access this 'Copy' Screen from my iMac so I can stop this items? I tried to restart but said something else was running in the Finder so it would not let me, any ideas? Thanks!

you have to imagine the two screens like they were just one screen.
have a look at system preferences -> displays -> arrangment. there you see the two screens. if your second screens is on the right, for example, you have to move your mouse outside the right side of your first screen to get to the second. that way you can move stuff between screens and also get to the copy dialog from the second screen.

  • Lion finder copying not moving files

I just tried to move a bunch of file from the desktop to a folder on the desktop and it copied them - normally it would move them ... how is this please (I was not touching the control key) - thanks for any help Roger

    THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I have been trawling the internet for at least 15 minutes now trying to find the answer to moving instead of copying on Lion. Each other answer has been long and complicated or it didn't even work in the first place.
Obviously, typing in my password every time that I want to move my files is tedious but at least it works.
I really hope that Apple fixes this flaw.
    ALSO-
I found that if you go to:
    System Preferences > Sharing
    And then tick File Sharing
Add the folder you wish to move files around in, to 'Shared Folders' And then make sure your user has 'Read & Write' access, then you won't have to type your password or use the Copy command.
BUT, if you wish to have these files private, make sure that 'Everyone' is set to 'No Access'

  • Using the "Find" function in RoboHelp 9.0.1.262

I'm using RoboHelp 9.0.1.262. Is it possible to use the "Find" function to find text in an entire project? I have only been able to use it to find text in individual topics within the project. This would be very inconvenient to have to go to each topic to do the search.

I'm not sure I would quite agree with saying the RH Find and Replace is lame or that FAR is just another text editor.
The RoboHelp Multi File Find and Replace has a serious limitation but it is one that is common. Most text editors do not search across multiple lines as I said.
FAR is not something I would regard as a text editor, more a compilation of authoring tools. Just today it save me a whole lot of work by being able to extract an HHC file from a CHM so that I could then get it into a RoboHelp project I had inherited with a wrecked TOC.

  • Finding/copying/saving a stream's url from iTunes

How can I find and copy or save a stream's url? For example, I'm listening to a radio sation now (in iTunes). I want to find the stream's url and copy it into an email. Why? So that when I send the email, the recipient can just click the link from within the email and listen to what I am listening to. Clicking "info" after highlighting the radio station in iTunes, I see the "where" information at the bottom of the info pane (summary tab). This is the stream url correct? Why can't I highlight it and copy/paste it. I don't want to have to re-type that entire string. Also, is there a folder in which all the .pls files reside? Maybe I could just find that and copy/paste that into an email. I know when you first open a stream, a .pls file is put on my Mac somewhere. I just want to email a link to a stream for easy access for the recipient. Thank you for your help. michael

Select the radio station you are listening to and drag it to the desktop.
This will create a .webloc file.
    Doubleclick on the .weblock file.
This will open an 'empty' page in Safari and download the .pls file.
After the .pls file has dowloaded, it will open the stream in the Library and start playing.
    This works for most stations.
You could mail the .pls file and ask if it works on the computer of the recipient. I can't tell you that from my own experience.
The .pls files are not stored separately on your Mac, but probably stored inside the 'iTunes Library' file (which is not human readable).
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is the  finder copying before burning?

I was just preparing my first dvd backup using the finder to burn the dvd and I was surprised that as I dragged items to the dvd disc to prepare for burning, it seemed to be actually copying these items to some location before I could burn the dvd. I could hear my hard disk copying the files and the process took about 8 minutes to copy over the 3.88 GB of files.
Shouldn't the files simply be burned to the dvd from their current hard disk locations onto the dvd?
For example, when I burn a cd from iTunes it doesn't need to copy the files to some other location first.
So my question is why is the finder doing all of this copying before it burns the disc?
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Panther creates a hidden disk image file, copies all the files to it, burns, verifies, then deletes the hidden disk image file. This is a reliable way to do it. There is no danger of the burn files changing during the burn, or verify, and since it is just burning one big file, there is less disk head movement, so less chance of not keeping up with the optical drive. With larger and faster, optical drives, though, it added an unacceptable amount of time to the burning process, and required a lot of free space on the system disk. Tiger uses burn folders that just contain aliases of the files to burn, and burns the data directly from the original files. It is a lot faster but you do have to be careful not to burn file that may change, such as log or preference files. Newer optical drives have underrun protection, so burning scattered files does not cause a problem. The drive will just slow down if the computer can't feed the data fat enough.

  • Finder Copy Progress Bar File Path Reminder/Record?

Can someone please remind me if there is a way to see the actual file paths for what I am moving and where I am moving it to?
I have two copies going on which are going to take an hour or more and I need to remind myself how far into the process of sorting I am.
Basically the /folders/ are named rather generically and I am trying to make sure I can access as much as possible with respect to this.
ALSO, after the copy has completed - is there a record with file paths of what I have just done, in case I don't catch it before the Progress Bar completes...?
    Thanks.
