Finding home computer in Finder

At Jobs' keynote of Leopard, I saw how you are able to log onto your home computer and get your documents, files etc. How is this done?
I have setup both my laptop and my iMac so I (admin and user) can see all files, but I can't find my iMac in finder.
Can anyone tell me how to make it work?
Thanks! Any help is much appreciated.

You can also drag and drop from the iPhoto Window to the Mail message window. You can then resize the additional pics in the Mail message window at lower right. iPhoto doesn't even have to be running if you use a media browser. You can create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS

I bought songs on my laptop which synced to my iphone and iPad.  But I can't find them on itunes library on my home computer.  However, when I click download for the same song it says it has already been purchased.  How do I find it on home computer?

Is your "home computer" the same as your laptop or are these two different machines?

  • HT1420 Where the heck is the link to authorize my home computer???????  I can't find it from the ITunes Store

I followed the information under the HELP section, but still cant find where I can authorize my home computer to access my ITunes account.  Am getting frustrated.

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • Find music on home computer / transfer songs from iPhone to home computer

I have 3000 songs on my iPhone. I recently purchased a new hard drive for my home computer.  Now my home computer iTunes account appears to have only 735 songs (I haven't purchased than many songs on my iPhone, most songs were downloaded from my old school CDs).  I want to sync my iPhone with home computer (new hard drive) but don't want to lose 2000+  songs.  Thought I could simply locate all music files and move them into iTunes library, but can't seem to locate complete music files (my computer should have close to 3000 song but am only fnding library with 738 songs).
    Thanks for your assistance.

If you can't find them on your computer and need to transfer them from your phone, you'll have to use 3rd party software such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac) to do so.

  • Trouble finding email on smartphone, home computer switches to smartphone when I sign in for email

Was asked by Verizon to update security profile, now cannot access home computer email, it goes straight to smartphone information

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking.  How are you trying to access email on your home computer? (Outlook, browser, proprietary software?)  What do you mean by "going straight to smartphone information"?  You can't access email on your home computer anymore?Forgive me for seeming dense, but I am confused.

  • I can get my email from the iCloud website, but my password won't work on my home computer to receive and send email

When I open my email on my home computer, I can't receive or send email that is @mac based. I get a message that my passwork is invalid.  When I go to the iCloud website, my password works just fine.  Any clues?

Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

  • When sharing screen from work with my home computer, is there any way to turn off the display at home?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but when I'm viewing my desktop on the home computer from work (as in I've connected by finding my computer in the finder and hit the "Share Screen" button - is there any way to turn off the display at home? It seems a bit of a waste of power to have the screen on when I'm not actually there - I just need to be able to see all my programs etc on the remote screen in order to use them. My home computer is a 2011 iMac running latest Mountain Lion, work is a 2010 MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

I've set up another user on my home Mac and left that one logged in. Now when I connect from work it asks me if I want to share the screen or log on virtually as my user. I think choosing the second option doesn't power up the screen.

  • Windows error 126 on home computer

when I click onto itunes on my windows home computer and error message pops up
    MSVCR80.dll   windows error 126
tells me to re install itunes
however after 10 attemps yesterday that wouldn't work either.
    How do I fix this?

You may have to follow the slightly more detailed steps in whichever of these two applies to you.
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Rebooting into safe mode may be needed to delete any folder the instructions say you should remove. You may also find this Microsoft Fixit helps to remove stubborn components. It has taken some people several attempts to completely clean iTunes and supporting software before they have been able to successfully reinstall it.

  • Laptop died.  need to make my Mac the "home" computer for my iPad & iPhone

My iPhone & iPad were initially set up on a Windows laptop, which has since died. How do I go about making an iMac be the "home" computer for these devices, so that they will be backed up when I sync?

Excellent question. I am trying to find out the same answer for my iTouch. If I get a helpful answer, I will try to let you know if you haven't already found out since March!
And if you DID get an answer that worked, could you let me know?
    Thank you!

  • I need to connect my mac air with my mac mini home computer?

I cannot find out what is needed to connect my mac air with my home computer, a mac mint

If you have a WiFi network at home, the MBA should easily connect to the Mac mini or vice-versa for anything from file sharing, oprical disc sharing, or even screen sharing. Start in System Preferences > Sharing and turn on the desired services. In that same panel you can choose whether that access is for all users or for specific user accounts on the particular system.
Then go to the other computer and open Finder then look under "shared" and select the computer you want to share. If you have activated screen sharing as well as file sharing you will actually have logon to both shares using the user account and password for the user you specified on the other machine.

  • Playing iPod on home computer system

I need some advice regarding playing iTunes-purchased songs over my home computer system. I've seen various products that permit one to load music files onto a hard drive component linked to the stereo and even link to TV screens to control song selection, etc. None that I can find will play any songs purchased from iTunes. My house is set up in a way that does not easily permit plugging my iPod directly into the stereo and Air Tunes requires me to be at my computer to control song selection, etc. I just want remote access to song files (my house is fully wired) but don't want to give up all the iTunes music I've purchased. What am I missing? Is there a solution? Thanks in advance.
