Finding images after OS upgrade??

Ok, I know there are a few ways to do this, but I'm looking for the Adobe "endorsed" method. I just installed Windows 7 on a new partition in my HD. I've installed LR2.3 and all seems to be running well. Now, how do I best get the images off my external drive to show? Catalog? I know this is probably a dumb question, but I cant seem to get a straight answer elsewhere. All the images on my external drive are in a folder labeled Ext LightRoom Master. They are subcatagorized within, all through LR...
Thanks for any help!
Vince

First, I wouldn't look for an Adobe endorced method, as I don't think there is one. Or, all the features implemented in Lightroom are Adobe endorsed.
Why don't you just plug in our external drive, open the catalog from the old partition an dbe there? I assume the old partition is visible from Win 7...

  • Canon Wi-Fi Printer Unable to find SSID after OS upgraded

I am using Canon MG4100 series printer. After I upgraded my iMac OS X 10.9 and also upgraded the firmware of my Time Capsule, my printer is no longer able to find the SSID. While all other devices have no issue except the Canon printer. Anyone can help?

Make sure the wireless names.. and TC name is smb compatible.
    Short.. 2-20 characters
    No spaces
    Pure alphanumeric.
The standard apple names are invalid in most OS.
Even apple manipulate the network names..
Turn off security and fix the wireless to 11, 6, 1 in that order.. just as a test. If all of them fail,
Then I recommend you buy a cheap TP-Link, edimax etc wireless router and use it as a WAP.. plugged into the TC.

  • Oversaturated images after lightroom upgrade

I recently upraded to LR 5.  I upgraded an old LR4 catalog.  In develop mode, when I press 'y' (to compare before and after images), I notice that after image is oversaturated compare to the single image view.  This is happening to all images in the newly upgraded catalog.  This is a raw file shot with a canon 40d, originally imported into LR3.  Does anyone know what is wrong?

I notice that the image still uses the old Process Version 2010 from Lr3 (although I don't know why there would be a difference between the two views).
Update the image to the current Process Version 2012 and see if that clears it. Just click the little lightning symbol below the histogram.

  • Pixelated finder images after saving in Photoshop

If I have images on a memory card, they look fine in the finder.
They also have a white frame around them.
If I then manipulate in Photoshop, when I save, the images become pixelated and the white border disappears. They are saved again as native JPEG's
Is there anyway of returning the pictures to their proper resolution?

I suggest trying CocothumbX to remove all previously created thumbnails, then see if Finder re-creates them OK.
Raw files for nearly all cameras are supported by 10.6.2 (raw camera updates come via Software update...don't seem to be downloadable).
If Finder doesn't rebuild them OK you could try CocothumbsX in create thumbnail mode, but it may not support your CR2 files, depending which Canon they are from. Not all CR2 are the same, and CocothumbsX doesn't look like it has been updated for a year or three.
If you problems are only with the raw files I should search or start a new thread focussing on the raw aspect.

  • Cannot find imovie after os upgraded to snow leopard

My friend upgraded my desktop to snow leopard yesterday and I do not have imovie on my computer. Anyone know how to get it?

if it was Leopard disk that came with a new Mac, it may have iMovie on there.
You can insert the disk. DO NOT INSTALL. Rather than install, like for a utilities drop-down menu, and look for something like additional applications.

Please note transcript of chat session with Apple support, below:
    Chat Transcript
    Friday, June 20, 2014 05:20 AM
    Duration: 33 minutes 26 seconds
    Cynthia:
Thanks for contacting AppleCare chat support. My name is Cynthia, and I'm a Senior Advisor. How can I help you?
    Cynthia:
Hello Peter, how are you today?
    Peter:
I was told to contact Apple about a problem that Adobe says is being caused by "bugs" in my GPU hardware which is causing horizontal and vertical banding when editing masks in the latest version of Photoshop 2014.
    Cynthia:
    Thank you for your patience!
    Peter:
    Okay...
    Cynthia:
I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the Adobe. Do you mind if I ask a few more questions for clarification?
    Peter:
    No, go ahead..
    Cynthia:
Are you chatting from the computer with the issue?
    Peter:
    Yes
    Cynthia:
Are you only getting that message when working with Photoshop or with other applications as well?
    Peter:
The problem is also showing up in the latest version of Adobe's Lightroom in images that are saved from Photoshop. The distortion is different there. It never happened with the previous versions of either LR, or PS.
    Cynthia:
What OS X do you have and have you recently upgraded? Did it work in previous versions of OS X?
    Peter:
10.9.3, and yes it worked in the last version(s).
    Cynthia:
Are you using upgraded versions of Lightroom and Photoshop? You stated is did not happen in previous versions.
    Peter:
Yes, upgraded versions and it never happened with the previous versions.
    Cynthia:
Thank you. That helps to narrow it down! It sounds like a compatibility issue. Have you spoke with Adobe about this?
    Peter:
Yes, and their lead Photoshop engineer emphatically stated it is a problem with the GPU hardware on the 2013 Mac Pro. Others have written in with the same problem, again, only on the latest Mac Pro.
    Cynthia:
I would like to see what I can find on this and once again, I am sorry to hear about this issue! Just a few more minutes, please.
    Peter:
    Sure..
    Cynthia:
Again, thank you for your patience. I have found information on the issue you described from the Adobe support site blogs. They have listed a fix for the issue till a permanent one is found. This is an issue that Adobe will need to fix in their application. For support of their products, we are required by the producers to refer you to them for support. Here is the link: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2014/01/photoshop-cc-14-2-update-jdi-features-mac-proos- x-10-9-compatibility-and-notable-bug-fixes.html
    Cynthia:
Are you able to access that link, Peter?
    Cynthia:
My daughter also uses those applications and I thank you for bringing that to my attention!
    Peter:
I have the link/article and will read it... It is referring to the last version, not the current one. I have a feeling Cris Cox from Adobe is right, that it in the end might be an Apple problem but I'll see what Adobe has to see about the article.
    Cynthia:
I do understand. Please let us know what you do find out. For the moment, I have not found any other fix or work around.
    Cynthia:
If you do need to get back with AppleCare, your case number for this issue is ************.
    Peter:
Okay, thanks Cynthia! BTW, will I get a copy of this chat to include with my communication with Adobe?
    Cynthia:
I will be happy to send that out, it will go out as soon as the chat ends. I thank you again for bringing that to my attention!

  • I can't find iPhoto after upgrading to Snow Leopard...

Usually, there is an icon when I open photobooth but its not there. Then I tried looking in finder to see if I even had it and I don't. Snow Leopard should come with iPhoto right??

I have the same issue. iPhoto just disappeared after I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I have the install CDs for Leopard, but it doesn't look like I can install iPhoto separately. Under the "Optional Installs" directory there's an option to "Install Bundled Software Only" at 2.7 GB. Won't this overwrite the Snow Leopard versions and cause trouble? I suppose I could do a clean install of Leopard, and then install Snow Leopard, but I'm afraid after waiting on this I might just lose iPhoto again. I'll probably try it anyway. The second CD seems to only have X.

  • After upgrade on OS and Safari 7.1 I can no longer do 2 finger scrolling.  Anyone else find this bug in upgrade?

After upgrade to 10.95 OS and Safari 7.1 I can no longer do 2 finger scrolling.  Anyone else find this bug in upgrade?  If so, ideas on how to fix it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Finding: Incorrect SQL throws a random error (after 2005 upgrade)

Hi I thought that I would share an experience that we found after upgrading a system to 2005:
Due to the upgrade of SBO, one of our addons didn't work properly after upgrading it to 2005.  Basically the code would break in random places (while stepping through it in the Development Environment).
After some time we identified the error was being thrown because a sql query we were using was incorrect due to the changing of the DB structure in the upgrade.  The weird thing was that it didn't throw an error at rs.DoQuery(query) but actually would step into the recordset and then the addon would suddenly stop working - hence the reason it took a while to identify it was the sql causing the problem.
Anyway updating the sql fixed the problem, but if anyone else is finding strange behavior whilst trying to identify why an addon might stop working after an upgrade, you should check any sql being used is still correct....
    Daniel

The first versions of SBO2005A SDK (PL00 to PL04) was the say the least VERY buggy... PL05,06 and now 07 seem to get things under control... Any rampup version of 2005 should at least get up PL05 ASAP... I didnt have many problem with the SQL, but "Server produced an error was a very common error".. my problem was primarily in matrixes (add/remove of lines), itemevent (pval internal COM error) and the dangerouse UserTable error due to currupted object in it....

  • Problem syncing image files after OS5 upgrade.

Lost all my image files with upgrade. Do not use Touch for Music, movies, podcasts - just images and a few apps. Tried restore to factory settings so now also lost my apps! I am trying to sync using Itunes>Photos>All folders but after about 15 mins just have the folders in the Touch but no images content. Sometimes the sync just stops and message says session ended - other times it just does nothing else. If I try to sync a specific folder then that seems to work but all images are duplicated into a Photo Library which I do not want.
Looked to downgrade but seems I cannot do that.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Brian

Alas, it didn't work. Instead of trying a shortcut, I followed the steps as closely as possible. The end result was that iTunes did not recognize any songs.
I think the problem is that the Mac immediately registers the pc .xml file as an "OmniOutliner" file instead of an HTML file. I ported the file three different ways: pc-to-mac, attached to e-mail, and burned to a CD. OS X immediately identified each as an OmniOutliner file. My guess is that the iPod treats the .xml file slightly differently, allowing the pc .xml file to cross properly with the iPod as an intermediary. (Although the article you pointed me to did not specifically say this would work cross-platform.) Unfortunately, I have a iPod Mini, which can't carry 28 gigs of music.
At this point, it seems to me, I can either buy a new iPod to try to port the .xml file, or load both xml files up in an HTML editor and manually update the OS X version, or forget it. I leaning toward the latter.
Thanks for pointers. It's always challenging to try something new.

    Justin,
In addition to what mo said, some have found that the page with the direct download link,
