Finding images with keyword tags in PE 12 Organizer

I am experiencing difficulties while finding images with keyword tags.
I am using the Organizer of Photoshop Element 12 (French version) and I think I follow the procedure described in “ADOBE ELEMENTS ORGANIZER Help and tutorials” (page 168 in the English version or alternatively 150 in the French one), i.e. :
In the Keyword Tags panel, I click the ">" symbol of the keyword of which I want to know the relevant images
Whatever the search option (Select either Hide Best Match Results Show/Hide Close Match Results, or Show/Hide Results That Do Not Match), I am not able to select and show only the Best Match Results.
Please note also that the Tip
To automatically display close matches after a search, choose Edit > Preferences > General, or Adobe Elements Organizer 11 > Preferences > General, and select Show Closely Matching Sets For Searches, and then click OK.
does not seem to work with Adobe Elements Organizer 12

Thks
You are right, my problem is to select only the close matches.
Based on your comment, I am afraid it’s one of the recurring problem in PE whatever the version (PE11 or PE12)

  • Find images with parent keyword tag only?

    I don't know how to describe this problem succinctly, so I don't know how to search for it in the knowledgebase or forums. Can anybody help?
    I want a keyword hierarchy with "US" as parent keyword of 50 states name keywords. I have many images with state keywords, but I also have some images that are tagged only with "US" but no state tag, as they are not specific to a state.
    How do I *easily* find only the images tagged "US" but with no state tags? Clicking on "US" in the keyword panel shows me all images tagged with "US" and all with state tags, but I just want the ones tagged "US".
    I can use "Find" to find "US" images NOT CONTAINING "AL AK AR AS AZ..." by enumerating all 50 states, but that's a terribly awkward way filter out images tagged with state names. I can't see a button or filter that shows only the images with a parent tag but without child tags
    Any ideas?
    Thanks ahead of time,
    Dave

    John, this seemed like a great idea.  I tried it, and it seemed to work.  There was an immediate problem because when there are lots of keywords it means a lot of scrolling and it can be hard to locate rail among rain rate rails etc. because the font is so small.  A second problem was that you are forced to mouse scroll - cant page down or up or use home or end. That can be a lot of scrolling. a third problem is that it seems you have to reselect flat view each time.
    a more serious problem is that it seems to have stopped working.  I'm not quite sure what i did but i have a keyword verb with 5 items and about 1125 child keywords (such as to sing to run etc.) for 1125 photos   i click on the verb arrow in the keywords so i bring up 1125 pictures of verbs.  now i go to metadata switch to flat view.  i can now see "verb" as a keyword in the metadata panel, but when i click on it, nothing happens - I still have 1125 selected photos.  Furthermore i cannot click on any other keyword in the metadata panel - that is nothing happens when i click.  if I return it to hierarchical view it is fine.  then Lightroom 4 64-bit stopped working.  when i restarted the program it was still in flat view and i was now able to click on the metadata panel and see appropriate collections.  then it stopped working again after i clicked on the keyword panel (but did not actually select anything).  in total i have about 3000 keywords and about 100000 photos on local and network drives.  it looks to me like flat view has some serious problems, but perhaps its something i am doing....
    i also have to say that even if it worked perfectly, i still might prefer other solutions because scrolling up and down for 3000 keywords can be tedious - its difficult to prevent overshooting and undershooting the mark.  if the keyword and metadata panels could be undocked that would probably be a big help.

  • Finding images with no keywords

    Is it possible to search the images stored through Lightroom 1.1 and find images without any keywords?

    When it is working. Some have found that particular function to be broken. Seems to be working with Build 352900 (Internationalization Build). Wasn't with 350273.

  • Bizarre behavior with Keyword Tags and their check marks

    I'm using LR v1.1. I ran into a bizarre situation today, but don't know how I got into it or how it finally was resolved.
    I wanted to view all my photos in the Library view. Under the section "Keyword Tags" there were already check marks in in front of some keywords. I couldn't find a way to uncheck the check mark in front of them (which evidently only shows up on Intel Macs as mine). It seemed (and I could be wrong) that if I clicked on a check mark to try to remove it, a check mark suddenly appeared in front of a *different* keyword(!)
    I also couldn't find a way to have no keyword selected at all.
    Finally the checkmarks and the selection of the keyword tags disappeared, but I don't know the cause or the cure of this.
    I'm on a MacPro with OS 10.4.10 with 6 GB RAM and just 1,300+ photos in my LR Library so far.

    The check marks indicate the selected photos have those keywords. They are not selectable, the keywords are.

  • [AS] Batch find images with attributes

    Hi!
    I've done some applescripting with Indesign but scripting photoshop is new to me.
    Problem:
    Thousands of grayscale images in a folder. Some of them are not adjusted for print so i need to find images that has light values below 5% an dark values above 95% and move those images to another folder for later processing.
    Also some of the images are too wide or too high so those should be moved to another folder for later use.
    Can this be done with applescripting Photoshop or is there some other ways (application?)to do it?
    Any ideas?
    thanks
    jukka

    What kind of file types do you have? AppleScript has access to SIPS via 'Image Events' a GUI-less app this can check some attributes of files without you opening them (no .eps though). For your below 5% above 95% the only method I can think of at the moment would be to open in Photoshop and read the first and last 12-ish items of the histogram. Something like this would tell you if you have pixels in those ranges. Assuming an open grayscale image.
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2"
    activate
    set docRef to the current document
    tell docRef
    set docWidth to width
    set docHeight to height
    set docHistogram to histogram of channel "Gray"
    set above95 to 0
    repeat with i from 1 to 12
    set above95 to above95 + (item i of docHistogram)
    end repeat
    set below5 to 0
    repeat with i from 244 to 256
    set below5 to below5 + (item i of docHistogram)
    end repeat
    if (above95 > 0) and (below5 > 0) then
    display dialog "NOT OK Image"
    else
    display dialog "OK Image"
    end if
    end tell
    end tell

  • How would you find images without a tag?

    II just installed Elements 8. have several folders of images. none of them have tags. I would like to add tags as I add folders. Seems like it would help to find the images that do not have any tags and then associate the correct tage wiith the images.
    Is there a woy to add the author and copyright to images in the Organizer. Other than the Advanced option when loading from Camera.
    THanks

    You can add these details in the Editor by going to File->File Info menu.

  • Selecting/finding pictures with (a tag for) person A only, but nobody else?

    I can find the A pictures by selecting the A tag. But that will result in all A pictures, including the ones with persons B, C, et cetera. I want the pictures in which A is the sole person. I also would like to find pictures in which A and B are the sole people. Anybody?
    Rik

    Sorry. I forgot to mention: Elements Organizer 13.
    By the way. My problem would be solved, I think, if reversion of my selection-by-tag would be possible.

  • Finder - Images With Orientation Data

    Hi,
    I'd like to discuss the way Finder handles images/photos with Orientation data embedded in them. I have a portrait photo here. When I open it with Preview it appears the correct way up, with its longest dimension running vertically. The same is true for Cover Flow and Quick Look. All of these methods show the photo the correct way up. However, when I view the file in Icon View or in List View in the Finder, the photo appears on its side, with its longest dimension running horizontally.
    My question is, why is this happening? If Preview, Cover Flow, Quick Look and even Safari understand Orientation data, why doesn't the Icon and List View modes of the Finder? Is this intentional or something that Apple forgot to implement?

    You need to have an application like  EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X  to check the files once you've exported them with the various checkboxes checked:

  • Display image with display tag

    Hi,
    I am using display tag but I don't know how to display the image in the display tag....let me explain how I fetched data and what I want to display..
    1. I kept all the images in the folder "userfiles" on the server and saved the url in the table(database).
    2. I fetched all the rows from table using the select statement and saved it into bean class and then to the list as....
    while(rs.next()) {
    String a="../userfiles/"+rs.getString(4)+"";
    System.out.println(a);
    list.add(new newsFetchBean(rs.getInt(1),rs.getString(2),rs.getString(3),a));
    everything is working fine and I am able to show data in the display tag on my jsp page using ...
    <display-el:table id="table1" pagesize="20" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1px" name="newsList" requestURI="" class="displayTag" sort="list" export="true">
    <display-el:caption style="font: bold 1em Arial, Sans-Serif;padding: 15px 0 0 0;color:#009933;">Inquiries Received From Latest To Old</display-el:caption>
    <display-el:column title="Heading" property="vnews_heading" sortable="true" headerClass="sortable"></display-el:column>
    <display-el:column title="News Content" property="vnews_content" sortable="true" style="width:200px;" headerClass="sortable"></display-el:column>
    Problem: I need to show images form "userfiles" folder for whom URL is being fetched from the database as...
    String a="../userfiles/"+rs.getString(4)+"";
    System.out.println(a);
    list.add(new newsFetchBean(rs.getInt(1),rs.getString(2),rs.getString(3),a));
    in the upper statements....
    Please tell me how to show images....
    I tried .....
    <display-el:column title="Image" sortable="true" style="width:250px;" headerClass="sortable" ><img src="<c:out value="#{table1.vnews_imageURL}"/>"></display-el:column>
    but no success and I searched a lot for it....may be I am wrong in my search but please help......

    Open the page in your browser.
    View the generated HTML source.
    Take a look at the <img> element.
    Does its 'src' attribute point to a valid URL? Can you request that URL independently?

  • Finding images w/o keywords

    I just run into a situation where I realized I have images without keywords in the library... it seems there is now way of finding images without keywords, or is there? I have 15000 images in the lib

    I couldn't quite follow the instructions on the referred thread, but I figured out another way:
    1) select all photos and add them to quick collection
    2) on the left panel, under "Library", check that QC really contains all images
    3) While all photos still selected, on the right panel, under "Keywording"-> Keyword tags, select all applied tags, and copy them to the clipboard
    4) open notepad (or equivalent), and paste the keywords there.
    5) search&replace all asterisks (*) with empty strings
    6) copy the result to the clipboard, and paste the keywords into the search field under "Find" (LR's left panel). Other search options should be "Keywords" and "Containing"
    7) When the search is done, remove the found photos from the quick collection (hit "B")
    8) The images left in the QC are the ones without any keywords applied

  • Tagging Contact Sheets With Keywords

    I have 81 contact sheets, each containing 250 small images. Is there a way to use Bridge to tag the individual thumbnail images with keywords for later reference?
    And, for that matter, can someone suggest a way to break up the thumbnails into individual images?

    Why would you want to make a contact sheet of individual thumbnails and then try to figure out a way to break up the contact sheet into individual thumbnails?
    Each contact sheet is made from a video file. Each sheet contains stills from a video file, one pic for every five seconds.
    I am just trying to come up with a way to log all the visuals in a group of 81 video files. I'd like to be able to search for, say, all of the pictures of a building, or the sky, or a teakettle, or someone hugging, or the guy named Dom, and so on.

  • Problems with keywords assignment (hierarchy is included)

    Hi group,
    this probably happens after I was letting Lightroom to a catalog optimization, but I am not quiet sure about this.
    So what happens: As you know, you can create a keyword tag hierarchy and sometimes LR does this automatically.
    If I now do some keyword assignments in the library mode (right panel), then these keywords get replaced by a hierarchy-to-keyword string.
    E.g. if I enter a keyword 'female' and LR has a hierarchy for this (e.g. female and male are sup-levels of person), then the keyword tag entry area contains the following: person > female. If e.g. I assign both male and female e to an image, then I get as result: person > female, person > male.
    This blows up the list and does not make it very readable.
    Does anybody knows how to stop LR doing this? If haven't found any flag value in the options.
    Thanks in advance
    John

    John, I think this is just part of the poor design of the key-wording feature.  There are many oddities.  I got my initial keyword list from D65.  I found that when I use the "Enter Keywords" view of the keywords assigned to a particular image, many of them show the hierarchy they are part of, as if I had selected the "Keyword & Containing Keywords" option, but some do not.  Adobe told D65 that this is related to how you create the hierarchical entries.  If you create a keyword and use the "Create keyword tag inside XXXXX" option, in use it will act differently than if you drag-and-drop a keyword into an hierarchical relationship.  This is completely at odds with proper programming practice!  I have also found today (in LR4, by the way) that if I sync from an image with keywords to an image without keywords immediately to its left, I get duplications of keywords in the rightmost image, as if the rightmost image had updated the left one, and it had reflected the sync back to the originating image. This does not happen if I sync from the leftmost image to the rightmost one.  So I went into the keyword list and unchecked that keyword for the image that had the duplication.  Now I have the keyword just once, but there's no check beside it in the keyword list showing that it is being used.  I'm also getting duplicates of nested keywords popping up at the top level of the hierarchy.  I've just realized that this has been happening for some time. The whole keyword feature is a mess.  Adobe needs to:
    1. fix the keyword feature so that it works in a simple, consistent and predictable manner
    2. provide users with a documentation update to explain how it now works
    3. provide a cleanup utility of some sort (if necessary) to let us get our keywords rationalized
    Perhaps step 0. should be "stop ignoring and/or denying the keyword problem".
    I've just gotten into such a mess with my latest batch of imported photos that I'm going to have to delete all assigned keywords, including those added on import, and start again.  I am not amused.

  • Problem dragging keyword tags in LR 3

    Hi, I am helping a user who has many keywords in Lightroom (hundreds). He usually tags images with keywords by dragging a keyword tag from the Keyword Tags panel onto an image in the grid. But the last 32 tags are not working. When he clicks on one of the problem keywords in the Keyword Tags panel, it is not selected. Instead, a vertical line appears at the mouse pointer and he can't select or drag that keyword. (see image) The many keywords above the problem ones work as expected. The problem keywords used to work, they just started not working in the last couple days. Any suggestions? Thank you!
    Message was edited by: Pris Sears (formatting)

    Thanks for the info! I wonder what the maximum for keywords is? I am not sure that's the problem here since they did work until this week, but I will suggest the hierarchical option to the user.
    Is it possible that they keyword list got corrupted somehow? Is there a way to repair it?
    thanks again

  • Compare 'Folder tags' to imported Keyword Tags

    I have asked questions about thumbnails in PSE11 that aren't being correctly displayed ,but I have yet to get any answers.
    I though perhaps I should breakdown the problem into easier component to see if I can get to understand just what is going on & be able to fix the problem myself.
    For instance if I open the 'My Folders' I see a list of file names that correspond to those 'imported keyword tags.'  If I take a folder called China I see the thumbnails & when I hover the mouse I see that it has tags China,Beijing area & my wife's name.  If I were then to go to the imported Keyword Tags & I can see a tag 'Dubai'.  Just to see what happens I drag the picture to the Dubai tag.  This is accepted.  Because if I go back to the original tag I now see tags China,Beijing area,& my wife's name as well as Dubai.
    If I go the see the folder 'Dubai' in my folders the picture doesn't appear.  Why not? This is just a crazy experiment but I can't make out what happened.  Any Ideas?

    Hi,
    Photoshop Elements does not enforce a direct relationship between Folders and Tags - they are different ways to view your images.
    If you start by showing all media and then select a folder, you will get the all the images in that folder shown.
    If you start by showing all media and then select a tag, you will see all the images with that tag.
    If you start by showing all media, then select a folder and then select a tag, you get all the images in that folder that have the selected tag.
    A tag can be applied to any image irrespective of which folder it is in.
    For instance, if you have two folders called Holiday 2012 & Holiday 2013 with photos of your holidays for each of the years and in each year you have a photo of the same monument, you could tag those photos with the monument name. Later you could view all the holiday photos for a particular year or you could show the photos of the monument for the two years.
    It is possible to create tags from the folder name but the relationship is not maintained.
    The fact that you talk about "Imported keyword tags" suggests that you entered the tags outside of Photoshop elements before you imported them. If you had a previous version of Photoshop elements, the normal approach is to convert the old catalog. That way the tags would show up in the original structure rather than be "imported".
    I hope that the above helps - forgive me if I stated what you already knew.
    Brian
