Finding IOS Versions of Active Sync Devices

Hi
We have our iPhones synchronized with Active Sync (Exchange). If I make a query Exchange will give a list with the devices. For example: Apple-iPhone3C1/801.400
We have a lot of different iPhone's 3g, 4g in our environment and I'd like to have a list, which shows the appropriate IOS Version. In the case of Apple-iPhone3C1/801.400, it would be IOS: 4.0.2
So, the question is: Where can I get such a list? Or does anybody know all of the codes/ios vesions?
Thanks a lot for advice and futher information.

Hi Kavindua,
To retrieve the list of devices in your organization that have active Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync partnerships, Please check the cmdlet "Get-ActiveSyncDevice".
Refer to:
Export a list of all ActiveSync accounts and devices to .CSV ,export a list of all enabled users with mailbox sizes

    Hi,
If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. At this point gazelle.com is giving $70.00 for any ipad 1 in 'good' condition. And cashforyourmac will give you $25.00 over what gazelle.com or sellyourmac.com offers you. Shipping is free.
Then, with that money, go the the Apple online certified refurbished store. As an example, a new 64gb Air costs $699.00. A refurbed 4th gen 64gb costs $529.00 and a 3rd gen 64gb costs $499.00. Personally, I'd skip the 3rd gen. So if you buy a 4th gen 64gb at $529.00 minus what you can get from a sale to above, you can get an ipad 4 64gb for just over $430.00, a savings of savings of about $270.00. (A new 32gb Air is $599.00, a 4th gen 32gb is $449.00, and a 3rd gen 32gb is not on the site right now.) Google it and check if you can get better offers anywhere else. But getting one from the Apple refurb store gives you an essentially new ipad and using the above sites, you're not locked in with a particular site which will give you a gift card and restrict you to their store/site.
Each Apple refurbished ipad (any version) comes with a new front and back cover, a brand new battery, same return policy, and a full one year warranty with 90 days of phone support. Each comes in a white box like a new ipad with the wall charger and usb cable. The only difference is that it says in small print on the bottom of the box that it is Apple certified refurbished. Also, if you buy refurbs, be sure to check the store many times a day. They can come and go quickly, so when you see what you want, buy it right away. Shipping is free and pretty fast. (We bought two a year and a half ago and they have been great!)
    Hope this helps.

  • Remote way to find what version of windows a device is running

I am looking for a way to find what version of Windows a workstation is running remotely.  These workstations are on the same network, but not a part of the domain.  This means I have no credentials to access them.  Is there a way to to do
    this?

It doesn't matter.  Without credentials you cannot access the OS and the machines will not expose their identity if they are not enabled to do so.  I suspect the manufacturers have done their job abnd have locked down the machines.  This is
probably why they are not listed in DNS.  Any connections are hard wired into the servicing systems.
This is normal for medical machines.  We do not want people who are not qualified to have any access at all.  If someone asked you to do this then they are probably having a little joke on you.  HIPAA and other regulations require that al
devices that might have any patient identifying data be locked down.
The servicing systems will have to information you want although many devices are "upload only" which means they can connect to and upload data and images to another system but they cannot be connected to or remotely managed.
As I posted above.  You will have to contact the owners of the machines to find out if they are managed.
There are RPC probing tools that can read back OS data but it is likely that these machines are firewalled against that.  Try to telnet to port 445 to see if it responds. If it does one of the third party tools can probe it for more information.
This has pretty good discovery software.  If GFI can't do it it can't be done.

According to the description, I know that only one user has this issue.
Please try to re-configure ActiveSync for the specific user.
Also try to re-set ActiveSyncOrganizationSettings via following command:
Set-ActiveSyncOrganizationSettings –DefaultAccessLevel Quarantine -AdminMailRecipients [email protected] –UserMailInsert “Your mobile device is temporarily blocked from synchronizing with the server while permissions
    are verified.”

  • HT4623 Where do I find iOS version in iPad 1?

I am using iPad 1 and would like to upgrade to iOS 5.1
However, there is no software upgrade under setting nor I can find out the version of my iPad.
I am away from my PC which the iTunes was located.  I do not access to any PC now.
    Pls help.
    PFung

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5 or Later
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Exchange active sync not requesting advanced setup details

hi - we have exchange 2010 with active sync 14.1  we have many types mobile devices connected using active sync including iphone and android.  when we previously added any account onto a phone we always had to add the advanced setup manually during
the setup i.e. mail server and domain.  now these details are added automatically after adding email and password.  This seems less secure and i need to find how to stop this.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
This is normal behavior in exchange because of autodiscover feature and it is making up the things easier during new account configuration on mobile devices.
After giving up the user name and password ,autodiscover is the feature which will bring up the remaining settings that you mentioned .
We will discuss in terms of security view .
1.User's password would be confidential .
However in worst cases someone might know about anyone's password and email address then on such case there would be chance to configure that particular account in any of the mobile devices.
We can control the above scenario too.
In exchange Active sync organisation settings we have an option to set the DefaultAccessLevel to quarantine for the devices. So that administrator can decide to allow or block the active sync device which is trying to connect to exchange.
    Reference Link : http://exchangeserverpro.com/preventing-new-activesync-device-types-from-connecting-to-exchange-server-2010/
Note : If your existing exchange organisation is having active sync devices configured in use then before changing the "Defaultaccesslevel" to quarantine we need to make sure existing active sync device ID'S are added to the corresponding mailboxes

I use an Iphone 4 which had to be replaced recently. However when i did a backup it was on the new IOS version 7, but now that my phone was replaced and i am back on the old IOS version 6 i how do i restore my backup??
When i try to restore my Back up using Itunes this is the message i get - "Unable to restore backup as the software is old - Please setup as a new device and then try to restore your backup" - Please advise. If i do so are there any chances of loosing my data. At this point in time i would be happy if i could just retreive my contacts list. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version.  The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

  • ??~~~~WLSE Supported APs Firmware Vs IOS Version~~~~??

    Hi, Dear all
I'm confused in the WLSE version and the managed AP IOS version.
The supported device message could be found at the link below:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps3915/products_device_support_tables_list.html
My question is that whether the WLSE V2.12 only support the AP with IOS 12.3(2)JA the specified IOS release in that page?
If this is true, is that mean, we could only book an old version for the customer? Because to avoid new IOS uncertain influence to their real time product line, the user would rather not to upgrade to the new version of IOS.
And is the Firmware it mentioned is the AP’s Boot Loader ? For example:
When we use "show version", we can see 2 version info, one is BootLoader, another is the IOS. Which is the Firmware PLS?

  • Increase mailbox active sync connections

One of the users on our SBS 2011 network is getting this sent to their inbox:
You have 10 phone partnerships out of the maximum allowed 10 partnerships. After you reach the maximum, you can't create additional partnerships until you delete existing ones from your
account. To do so, sign in to Outlook Web App, click Options > Phone > Mobile Phones, and delete any unused partnerships.
They have lots of devices connected to the mailbox so I went to run this command to increase it:
    Get-ThrottlingPolicy | Set-ThrottlingPolicy –EASMaxDevices
    20
    However I get this error:
Would anyone know what to do so I can increase the maximum number of connections?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
How many partnership should be there ?
Exchange will keep any of the old device partnerships that a user has activated in the past. The admin has to delete them. If you get rid one of the old ones you should be good.
    Run
    Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistics
How many partnership do you see there?
    Now run
    Get-ActiveSyncDevice
How many Partnership do you see here?
You will have to remove all unwanted partnerships first.

  • Exchange active sync not loading emails?

Hi I am currently using a Samsung Note 2 and i've added my Company email account successfully using Microsoft Active Sync options in Email settings.

  • Active Sync Email FLow

    Hi,
How email flow in active sync ?
    1) When User compose message from outlook ...How it reaches to Active Sync device or vise versa ?

    Hi,
When we compose message from Outlook and send it. This message will be pick up from outbox from outlook and submitted to transport server. From here it will be routed to the ultimate destination (internal or external)
    Mail Flow
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996349.aspx
When the message has been routed to the ultimate destination. ActiveSync will synchronize the information between Exchange Server and Outlook client. When we use Active Sync device, it will down these information from Exchange Server and vice versa.

  • "This message has not been downloaded from the server" - Multiple devices all using Exchange Active Sync

We are having this issue across multiple IOS devices ranging from IOS version 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2. Many (not all) emails sent to the devices are unreadable and simply state: "This message has not been downloaded from the server". Microsoft believes this to be some sort of bug with the IOS devices in the way they are handling the SSL encryption.
    Facts:
    - Devices are connected to an Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 6 via Active Sync (No POP3, IMAP or SMTP)
    - issue occurs on multiple IOS devices within the organization ranging from IOS 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2
    - Issue occurs on both external cellular data and internal wireless networks
    - Not all emails sent to the devices result in the error, but issue does tend to occur more frequently from certain senders/domains
    - Using the same user account on an android phone does not result in an issue (even when receiving the exactly same email that has been sent to the IOS devices)
    - Closing mail app / rebooting device does not resolve the issue
    - Doesn't appear to matter what the mesage format is (can be html, plaintext, etc)
    - Spent nearly 7 hours with Microsoft going through the Exchange server configuration and looking for possible causes. None have been found and all testing indicates things are setup correctly.
    - This is not a case of Issue 2.3 listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324 (verified by Microsoft Support)
    - If we disable SSL on the IOS device and connect via plain HTTP the messages are displayed correctly!
    - If we use a different SSL certificate, the issue still occurs - so not a problem with the original cert.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what would cause this? Does the ISO devices have any sort of log that would indicate why it's reporting this error? The current error is pretty unhelpful.

GFI Have a solution for this problem. It is to do with iOS implementation of reading the message headers when SPF compliance modifications are made by GFI.

  • Hotmail via Active Sync on iOS 5.1

    Hi
I've just set up a hand-me-down 3GS for my wife. I have set up a work email account for her successfully through Microsoft Exchange and then tried to set up Hotmail through the predefined setting - which I believe means through Exchange or Active Sync - and initially it was fine. All the folders synced and the iPhone downloaded the messages.
However, since then, it won't download any new messages - it just sits and says it's checking but nothing happens. So I ended up deleting the account and re-installing it but now I just get an message saying "Cannot Get Mail - The Connection to the server failed".
No amount of deleting the account and re-installing it works. No problems accessing Hotmail via the web. And I managed to send a simple text email from the Mail App on this phone to my own iPhone successfully.
But I don't understand why it won't work now.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've trawled the internet but can't find an answer.
    Thanks for any help.

I have been getting the same problem for a couple of days now on my 4S (iOS 5.1).  Hotmail was working fine, now all of a sudden I get the "Cannot Get Mail - The Connection to the server failed" message.
Have tried to reset and restore the phone, delete items from my inbox, changed the sync days to no limit and anything else I have found suggested on the net.  Still no luck.
If I delete my hotmail account from the iphone and add a different account (still hotmail) that works fine.  If I then delete that and try to put mine back on there the problem comes straight back!!!
I am sure like you all, it is really starting to annoy me now!!  Anyone got any ideas??  Apple HELP!!!!
