Finding iPAD in iTunes

Trying to transfer files from a DVD to a documents app on my iPAD. Instructions say to find the iPAD in the list in iTunes, click on "Apps" in the iPAD menu bar, then file sharing. I don't see an iPAD icon in iTunes - what am I missing? Thanks

It refers to iTunes on your computer, not the iTunes store app on your iPad.
With the current version of iTunes on your computer you should (if the iPad is connected to your computer and recognised by it) get a device icon towards the top left of the iTunes screen e.g. (this screenshot is from a Mac, but it should be similar if you are using a PC)
If that shows then click on that device icon and then click on Apps under the Settings heading on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen. Then scroll down the right-hand side of the screen and you should get the file sharing section - select the app that want on that section, and to its you should be able to select and copy the file to it

Open iTunes Store app and look under purchased. Also you will see music in your music app. Ps make sure that you are signed in using your Apple ID.

I have been creating a photo book using a lots of photographs on iPhoto, and then I took another photos by using new iPAD which I want to integrate with the original album/book on iMac. I was able to import them from iPAD's iPhoto to iMac's iPhoto. However I cannot import or transfer or sync anything from iMac's iPhoto to that of my iPAD.
So my iPhoto page on iPAD contains only 3 or 4 newly created albums, and no other info. That means no syncing....
I am supposed to be able to work on this project on either of these iPAD and iMac, correct?
I am puzzled. I appreciate for your advice and help.

It doesn't appear under the iPad device on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes, you need to select the iPad device on the sidebar and then select the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes e.g.

Is your "home computer" the same as your laptop or are these two different machines?

Thanks a lot! After I sent the above post, I tried that. It worked a little. Some of the ones that I Purchased would not come up. I followed instructions from Apple about going to Purchased and downloading them again, but ran into another problem. They are greyed on my Mac and they will not download again. It says to click on the iCloud beside them, but there is not one visible. iCloud is set up, at least I thought it was. I am sure there is a simple explanation, but I am missing it!

That was obviously not the problem (I've seen that other users had this kind of problem).
Radio button was in place and I could see all my radio stations - but none of them was playing.
Today I was trying again - and miracle: all streams work!
Since I didn't change my settings or version I guess that the problem was elsewhere (or within iTunes).
Unfortunately this will not help other people having the same problem - I don't know why it's solved now.

Photos are not downloaded from iTunes.
Import them from the iDevice to your computer as you would with any other digital camera and leave iTunes out of the equation.

That's probably not a good idea to try to share apps since you will have to switch ID's each time you update apps and sync apps from iTunes.
And technically - according to Apple's terms - you cannot share apps using different ID's. You can actually lock yourself out of an ID for 90 days if you switch ID's and if you associate the iPad with another ID.

Are you looking in the Videos app? iMovie on the iPad? The Photos App? I don't use iMovie but those are the three places where you should look.

You cannot access files in the backup on your computer.
Do you mean that you synced with iTunes and transferred your purchased videos and app documents? If that is what you mean, what videos are you talking about? If they are videos that you took with the iPad, they do not sync to iTunes. What files?

Not working. And it didn't used to be a problem. iTunes can find the songs with Search Library, but doesn't show in any index (by song, artist or album). Finding with Search Library offers to play or add to Up Next, but neither actually does anything. Using File-Add to Library does nothing as well. The only way I can get the new files to play is to find in Finder and Open with iTunes.
I suspect Apple is trying to drive me to buy from iTunes store. Not gonna happen. If they don't fix this, I'll find another player.
