Finding Keywords on a Harddrive without haveing been before to the folder
Hello Helpful People,
I am Kaj and would like to add Keywords to a bunch of images in the size of 2-4 Mb.
The total amount of the images would be 200 Gb.
This images are in several different folders, which are all in one bigger archive folder. The archive folder is not located on my PC
,it is located on a server.
I would like to find the keyworded-images via Bridge by searching with the search-box or the further search-box panel ( strg F )
The problem is that when I have not been before in each folder, Bridge is not able to locate the keyworded-images.
I spoke to the Bridge-Helpdesk Germany. but they could not help me with this issue, instead they forwarded me to this forum.
MY REQUEST IS:
to find a solution to locate keyworded-images by searching them without having been before in this particular folder.
If there is any one out there who has an idea or knows a plug-in for Bridge or even another program which is able to do so,
or even where I can find further help.
That would be very helpful.

For the search function to work the folder has to be indexed. By visiting the folder is one way, the other is to click "include non-indexed files".. This last option can ge very slow if there are a lot of images in the folder.
If you are running Vista you can use the advanced search and bring up the keywords (tags to MS).. It is fast if MS has indexed the folder. Again, if not indexed it can be slow.

Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

I cannot force quit and I cannot restart. I tried the online help which directed me to uninstall, but I couldn't find library /application support. How can I fix this without having to turn off the computer?.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?
You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!) -

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

On the previous software version I used to be able to view all my calendar events as a list by clicking on the magnifying glass. Now you have to type into the search dialog box for a list to populate. This is very frustrating and annoying because I much prefer the list format to populate everything unless I specify what I am looking for into the search box. Is there a way to view all the events as a list without having to type anything into the search box?And you are aware of the possible options for listing the months and having an optional export value for each month.
For listing the months, you can use a number, a 3 character string, or the full name.
For the export value, the full name, the 3 character value, the 1-2 number, or the 0-11 JavaScript value.
I would look at deciding how you want to populate the drop down box and build a one page form with just this field. You can then insert that page into a PDF and copy the field as needed and then delete the inserted page. Or you could create an FDF file to create the drop down box. -

Yes there is,
When you recieve a mail with an attachement (inline or as a picture) right click (or control click) the attachement and choose "show as symbol" or "show fullsize" (or completely or something like that, I don't work in English version). Mail will take this as a general preference.

How do I restart my macbook for updates without having it reset because the log in window, suddenly, now appears? I've never had this issue until a few days ago when there were updates available. Somewhere the settings were changed. I may have inadvertently changed a log in preference but can't trace it back.
That usually doesn't happen (unless you do not use automatic login) unless you boot into Safe Mode. When prompted do you enter your admin password? What happens when you do that?

You need to hook up your iPhone, select it under Devices, and then go to the Photos tab on the Device Profile, and uncheck Sync Photos, then sync. That should delete all photos that were downloaded from your computer.
When you say you have 2 separate albums of the same sets of pictures, what 2 albums are you referring to? Can you provide us with names of those "duplicate" albums?

You can have iTunes reference the content where ever it is on your HDD without copying the content to the iTunes library, thus using twice the space.
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.

Additionally if you want the content to then ALSO be located in your iTunes Library folder so everything is all kept together nice and tidy, use this:
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
Depending on how you imported items into iTunes, some items in your library might be stored in different locations (in another folder or on another hard disk, for example).
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
To create folders (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and so on) inside your iTunes folder, and place all your imported media files in the appropriate folders, select “Reorganize files in the folder ‘iTunes Media.’”

There is a certain website I use that I refresh frequently. Every time I do I get a pop up message labeled ‘Confirm’ with a question mark in it that says;
“To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier."
It only seems to be a problem with this one particular site. Are there any settings in the options (or anywhere else) that I can use to set up an auto confirm and resend without having to manually click the ‘resend’ button in the pop up window?Hi cor-el, Thanks for responding;
I am accustomed to seeing this type of pop up on occasion and understand why they are necessary to prevent duplicating orders, payments, etc. I am not using a back button, I wanted to use an auto-refresh app to search for reservation openings on a certain web site and can not because this pop up requires me to manually push a button every time the page refreshes. I am resending the same information every time (a date range) via the POST form, so, was hoping there was a way to either disable, override, or set up and auto response so I can use the auto-refresh app. Your description of how to avoid the pop up didn't entirely make sense to me, but If I have to do a bunch of manual steps in between each refresh attempt it doesn't matter because I'm no better off.
