Finding missing Iweb files?

When I previously opened up my IWeb application,it took me directly to the files I had created for my website.
However, now it starts off asking me to choose a template, and my former website file and pages don't show up in the browzer.
Anyone know where they could have gone?
Thanks,
Jim

iWeb stores all data in a file called domain.sites. This file can be found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
Find this file and double click on it and iWeb will open it.
Remember though that it is your User Library and not your System Library - your will not find iWeb there.

  • Where can I find the iWeb files?

I just bought a new iMac and gave my wife my "old" G5. A week after the migration of files from the G5 to the iMac 09, we did some work on an iWeb document on the G5 that I want to transfer to the new machine.
Where can I find the iWeb documents/files in the G5? Must be in a library somewhere.
    -Bob

It is the domain.sites file that you are after and this is found at your Home User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
Don't make the mistake of going to the System Library or you won't find it - it is in your Home User Library.
Just copy the domain.sites file to the same location on your other Mac and double click it and iWeb will open it.

  • Where do I find my iweb files on my computer?

    Help!
My 17" PB suffered a hard drive failure and I had to have it replaced. A local (independent) shop recovered some of my files and copied them to dvd's but I don't know where to look for my iweb files on the dvd's. I have visited the sites that I had posted and they are still up and running. I own and rent commercial buildings and from time to time they get tagged with graffiti. I use iweb to post the pictures and then advise the local police when I've updated the site.
Before the drive failed I had backed up some data using the Apple Backup (has the little orange umbrella as an icon) and I'm not sure if I managed to save the iweb files or not. I hesitate looking at my iDisk for fear that I'll delete what is there. Also, please let me know if I should send my hard drive to someone like Drive Savers to recover the data.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    form = from
Place the blank iWeb page and the webpage in the browserwindow next to each other.
Do not select everything but select parts of the text and drag the text to iWeb.
iWeb creates a textbox with the formatted text.
Resize and position the textbox on the canvas.
    Compare these pages :

Not very impressive, but I hope you see what I mean.

  • Find the iweb file

I use a G5 with Leopard and the hard drive has crashed. I have backed up most documents but not the iweb file as far as I know. Where is it located and how might I extract it from my imac g5 hard drive. I do want to avoid having to start all over with my web page.
(by the way I have tried Diskwarrior to not avail)..
    Thanks,
    GH

The file that iWeb uses is named Domain.sites2 and is located in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If you did not backup that particular file you will have to rebuild your website from scratch. If that's the case then see Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site which has tips on using some of the existing image, audio and/or video files in the published site in the reconstruction of the site.

  • Where do I find my iWeb files?

    Hi all
It has been a while since I have done anything with my webpages on iWeb. I think it was sometime last summer before I upgraded to my new MacBook Pro. I just recently moved my domain to a new server and need to upload my pages there. In the past I thought my files were stored in documents, but I can't seem to find them there when I go in to Fetch to upload them to the new server. Please reply if you can be of help.

See this page for the location of the Domain.sites2 and some notes about iWeb and Lion...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Why-iWeb.html
If you are using an FTP app to upload the files, publish your site using the second method shown on this page...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
Before uploading, add the title tag and meta description for each page using iWeb SEO Tool...

  • Finding my iweb files

upgraded to leopard but need to update my iweb. I have a complete backup on external hd. Went looking to library, application support, iweb...but nothing there. Can someone give me more info on finding the files so I can move them from the ex hd to my computer.
    thanks in advance

    HD/Users/Library/Application Support/iWeb holds the Domain.sites (or sites2) package file.
Moving it to the same location (create folders if needed) should be all you need.
If you don't have that package you didn't back up the correct files from your previous drive.

  • Missing iweb files after mobileme closed-recoverable?

While trying to transfer my iweb-created website to Godaddy suddenly I cannot find the site at all or any pages -- just one pages that says "blank".  Any suggestions?  Did I accidently delete my entire webpage files?  Are they recoverable?  Thnaks.

The published pagers that were on MMe are not needed.  Everything iWeb needs is in its Domain.sites2 file that's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If you're running Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mt. Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
Once you get your domain file and get it opened you will need to publish the site to an FTP hosting service. If you're running iWeb 2 you must publish to a folder on your hard drive and upload the site folder and it's external index.html file to the server.  If you're running iWeb 3 you can publish directly from iWeb to the server.

  • Cant find current iweb file

I published a website about 5 months ago using iweb. I recently opened iweb because I need to update the site, and found a version of my site that was not anywhere near current. I then tried opening the domain by going Library / App support / iweb / domain but i still got an old version. Am I completely out of luck?

    What system are you running?
Download and use  Find Any File  to search for ".sites" on your hard drive.  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders.  If you have a second .sites file on your hard drive FAF will find it.

I imported some .mov files from my iPhone.  I saw them in Organizer, now they don't show.  The files are there.  When I try to import them again, Organizer says they exist in the catalog and won't import again.  I created a new catalog and imported them again.  They showed up, then they were gone.

  • Moving Iweb files from old hard drive to new laptop

Hi, just replaced my old Powerbook with a new MacBook Pro and I have been sent my old hard drive and fit it in to an enclosure to let me have access to my old pics, music etc but I am struggling to find the iweb files for my websites
I know they were there before it went in for a screen repair and everything else looks ok so just wondered if I am looking in the wrong place
    Any help much appreciated
    Tony

The primary file you need to move is named Domain.sites (iWeb 2) or Domain.sites2 (iWeb 3). it's locted in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.  Copy that to the same folder on your new MBP.
    However:
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Once you make the libraries visible you can easily find the file you need and move it into the new library. If you have problems  opening the domain file for the first time try the following:
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Can't delete itunes to update because of missing msi file

Had virus issues with my computer.  Now finally got the add or remove list to re-populate and tried to update iTunes.  Kept saying error, can't find missing msi file. Read to manually delete all apple/itunes files including quicktime, etc.  Itunes won't delete because computer needs to find this missing msi file.  Have rebooted numerous times.  Should be  a quick fix, I would think.  Please advise!! Missing my itunes  Thanks

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Missing dll files

a week ago I started getting 3 messages when I restart saying" can't find missing dll files:
    neturt.dll
    wsinse.dll
    robrv.dll
How do I get them back or remedy this error message? Thanks, Rich

    1) Click START
    2) Select RUN (On Vista, there is a text box that you type in at the bottom of the programs list on the left. So, you don't need to click RUN)
    3) Type "msconfig" in the text box and click OK. The "System Configuration Utility" window will open.
    4) Click on the STARUP tab.
    5) Click on the DISABLE ALL button then click OK.
    6) Click on RESTART to restart your computer to put the change in effect.
    7) After your computer has restarted, this dialog box will appear... Check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" check box, then click the OK button.
    8) Now, you will not receive the error. then the problem is that one of the other programs on your computer. Which one it is will now need to be weeded out.
    9) Start MSCONFIG again as we did in "Starting MSCONFIG" above. Go to the Startup tab again and select the check box next to the first program item listed. Click OK, and then click RESTART to restart your computer. Check if you receive the error.
    10) Repeat the step 9 above again with the next check box in the list until you see the startup DLL errors again. Which ever one is checked that makes it generate the error messages, is the culprit. This will need to be disabled, uninstalled, or reconfigured to work properly with the original thing you were trying.
