Finding my free songs

When I set up my Ipod 6+ months ago, I received and cashed in 100 free songs...where do I find them on my account? Did they expire if they weren't used?

You need to sync your iPod with your own computer. You Do have your songs on your own PC don't you or at least backups?
If not, you have a problem.
Your only hope is undelete software. Here is an example which is not free:

No doubt you could find others with Google and Windows undelete software could also be used but would need more knowledge.

You may have done, the iTunes Store usually does have a free song on offer, but it will be an unknown artist that someone is trying to promote, not top selling songs from major artists. Is that what you were after? If so, look on the iTunes Store front page. There are also free songs available under a scheme called Creative Commons Licence, which is usually specialist material. Once again, not top selling stuff.
Usually, those who download such free music are downloading things they already know about - in other words, they know about that particular piece of music and then they find it's available under a *CC Licence.* If you simply wish to find free music, you'll probably be disappointed with what you do find.
Anything else is probably being downloaded illegally - and we cannot talk about it on this forum, it's against the rules.

  • Can the free songs of the week be found on the wifi store?

I am having trouble finding the free songs through the wifi store. Are they not directly available on the touch?

It's not featured or anything like in iTunes, but you can find the free song by searching for it.

  • Did they take out the free section, you know where they might offer a free episode/song/video/etc in one spot (or at least did they for Canada)? I can find the english song of the week, but that is it...

Did they take out the free section, you know where they might offer a free episode/song/video/etc in one spot (or at least did they for Canada)? I can find the english song of the week (I used to enjoy browsing both the english and french), but that is it...

Nevermind. For some reason it loaded wrong/poorly/? It was back after I closed itunes down and re-opened it.
    Thanks though

  • How do I find the screen with my personal iPod (my name's iPod) so I can download from my purchased or free songs/pods from my computer? My iPod has opened to that for 3 years and this week I can't find it: not on purchased page or on Apple store page.

  • Free Songs - Return on Investment for Apple and artists

This is an open plea to iTunes, Apple, and the artists who post free tunes on iTunes.  The trend for the last several months has been to offer only one song each week as a free download.  This is an incredible shame!!  When there were three or four songs each week, I was very likely to discover new music, buy new albums, and attend shows for these bands.  It's just a matter of numbers—if there are more songs to preview, I’m more likely to find one that inspires me to support the musicians.  I'd like to think it works that way for everyone else too.
Case in point--back when there were multiple free songs each week, I frequently found a free song that I enjoyed so much that I purchased the album:
    Andy Grammer
    Chiddy Bang
    Drop City Yacht Club
    Florence + the Machine
    The Lone Bellow
    Parachute
    Olafur Arnalds
    Ryan Star
    Selah Sue
    William Fitzsimmons
    The Young Romans
    Young the Giant
During that time, I also attended nine different concerts featuring the artists above.  Since the number of songs was dropped to one, I rarely find music that inspires me.  So what’dya say?  Can we up the free tunes a bit?  Please??

Concerts are almost always a loss for the artist and the label, unless you are one of the top acts.

  • Smart Playlist JUST for 'Free Songs of the Week?'

I would like to create a Smart playlist comprising exclusively the 'Free Songs of the Week' from the iTunes Store. So when I get the weekly 'Free Song,' it goes right into that list. But I need some sort of 'unique identifier' that allows this to happen, and I can't seem to find one. I go under all the 'View Options' and nothing seems to 'tag' these songs as unique, so I can't set up a Smart Playlist that includes just those songs.
Is there a way to do this?

The iTunes Store doesn't tag the free tracks any differently from any other track that I can see, so I can think of no automatic way to put just the free tracks into a playlist. You could, though, put "free" or something similar in the Comments section when you download one of the free items, and then have a Smart Playlist that looked for "free" in the Comments. That's the only way I can think of to accomplish what you want. That wouldn't be any easier than just dragging the free tracks to a normal playlist, but would allow you to have future Smart Playlists that process the free tracks.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1657 I just watched two FREE movies, both about Audi at Le Monse. Is there a way to find other FREE movies at the iTunes store?

    Zion,
This worked! ...about 50%, but I suppose that's better than nothing.  I went into iTunes on my old username and downloaded the 300+ songs to my library but then for some reason when I went to transfer them to my iPhone it would only transfer like 120 or so of them.  I'm not really sure why but I'll continue to work on it.  Thanks so much for the help.
FYI - if anyone else reads this bc they have the same problem.  If you choose to go this route and download previous purchases from your old account you cannot auto download any content on your new(er) apple ID for 90 days after the purchase download.  Just something to keep in mind, but for me, it was totally worth it.  I have no qualms about manually transferring the songs to my iPhone for the next 3 months if it meant getting the rights to transfer all my old songs to my iPhone.
    Thanks again!

  • I deleted the Free song of the week, but it keeps coming back!

I downloaded a free song, decided I didn't want it and deleted. But with iCloud, it keeps coming back. It messes with my smart playlists to have this song keep popping up. Any way to fix without turning off auto downloads? Thanks

You must have an iCloud account, and on the iPhone gone to Settings > iCloud and turned ON Find My Phone.  Then login to the iCloud account, click Find My Phone and IF the iPhone is turned on and connected to the internet it will show up.
If any one of those steps is missing it will not show up.
If you get a message that you have not registered it with iCloud, then you did not turn on Find My Phone on the iPhone.
There is no other way of trackng the device.

  • My 1G Touch has suddenly stopped downloading (by wifi)  -some- podcasts and even -some- free songs from iTunes.

My 1G Touch has suddenly stopped downloading (by wifi)  -some- podcasts and even -some- free songs from iTunes. The download page comes up but where there used to be a 'free' button there is nothing. I've done a full restore and problem persists.
No answer on first visit to Genius Bar. Did the suggested full wipe with no sucess so I'm heading back with my laptop in hand to challenge them to find a solution.
        Can you solve this puzzler?

  • Free song changes to have price

    Hello,
I would like to know 2 things related to iTunes store. First is about the price changes. For example, I downloaded a free song a few days ago into my iPhone. Then the free song had changed the price to $1.99. However, I want to download it again to iTunes on my Mac. If I click "Buy Now", will it prompts that I can download free or charge me with the price? I can download all my purchased songs again for free. So, what about this condition?
Another thing is that I don't see any of the free songs I downloaded awe in iCloud. Is it mean iCloud stores only purchased songs?
How about free TV episodes and free Apps? When they change from free to price, do I need to pay for download it again?
Sorry if there were any posts out there. I searched for the answers but I cannot find.

    So, what about this condition?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Apple - Sign up to be notified when iOS 5 and iCloud are available.
How about free TV episodes and free Apps? When they change from free to price, do I need to pay for download it again?
Not unless the developer has gone from "free" to "paid"..  if you redownload a free app that's now paid, you would be notified.

  • What happened to free song of the week

What happened to free song of the week? I no longer see it on the right side. I used to listen to it then select it to download and now no longer see it. Anyone knows were to find the free single of the week.
    Thank you all

Didn't look real hard in the list of topics, ayy?
Where did the iTunes free single of the week go?

  • Credit is mixture of free songs and euros

    Dear,
In my credit list I dispose of 11 free songs and some money.
Now when I select to buy a certain album of 12 songs, only 9,99 euro needs to be paid (instead of 12x 0,99 euro).
When I would only have money as a credit, there would be no problem to have this advantage. But those 11 free songs are in my way (maybe because their expiration date is before the money expiration date?). I'm also afraid that the extra song on the album ('album only') won't be downloaded for free... as this is the 12th song
Why doesn't iTunes choose in my advantage, and takes away e.g. 9 songs in this case and make me download the whole album??

  • My Top Rated songs, when I synch my iP4S - comes up with an error message saying it can't find all the songs. When I check, library has songs listed but with a "!" bubble next to them. When I click on them they play. What am I doing wrong?

When synching, itcomes up with an error message saying it can't find all the songs. When I check, library has songs listed but with a "!" bubble next to them. When I click on them they play. What am I doing wrong? This happens every time so I click them and it sorts them (boring with 200 odd). How can I prevent this?

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.
