Finding my security key

I have got a WRT54G router connected for the past year. I'm trying to add another laptop to my network and can only connect with limited connectivity. It keeps asking me for security code. I thought I used all zeros for the 13 digits but its not accepting it. And I can't log in to 192.168.1.1./
Can anyone help me with this problem??

Might be the security key which you are using, that might be invalid thats the reason you are unable to go online from your Wireless Computer. To Find out your Security key, Follow the setps bellow.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -

For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security..... In this tab you will fine out your security key, note down your security and then try to connect to your Wireless Network again on your Computer.

  • Where can i find security key

im trying to connect my pc to my network with airport extreme and is asking for a security key and icant find it

Security key is your normal wireless network password.
There is a very long 64 digit code which is generated when you enter your password, but this is rarely needed...and rarely helps.  You probably do not have room to enter this in the password area as well.
If you want to try this...I doubt that it will help...post back to tell us what operating system you  are using on the computer that is is used to configure your AirPort Extreme router.

  • HT1620 Where do you find security key for iOS on iPad. 4digit key for update..

Need to find security key. 4didgit   To update iPad to7.1.1. I have no idea were it is , first time ever asked for a pass to update

The iOS upgrade is seeking whatever code you use to unlock your iPhone or iPad device; your device passcode or PIN or password you're using to secure your device.
This to avoid somebody random poking buttons and unexpectedly upgrading your temporarily-unlocked device.
If you've forgotten the PIN or password that you had originally configured to unlock your phone, there is a reset sequence.

My Smart TV is asking for my Airport extreme security key, where do I find this?

You can find this via the AirPort Utility, as follows:
    Run the AirPort Utility.
Select your AirPort Extreme, and then, select Edit.
From the utility's menu bar, select Base Station, then Show Passwords...
The security key will be the second item, labled: WPA Pre-Shared Key for "<your network name>"

  • How do you find wifi network security key?

How do you find the wifi network Security Key?  Not password --- KEY?

The "key" is probably totally useless to you, since it is 64 characters long and very few things will accept an item of this length.
If you have an Apple AirPort router, we can tell you how to find the "key" for the network that it is creating, if you can tell us what operating system your Mac is using.
Most manufacturers use the term "key" to mean the normal wireless network password, which is also known as passkey.

  • How to find my network security key

I recently installed Windows 7 on my MBP (OS Mavericks). I am trying to make a connection from Windows to my home network (Airport Extreme). When I do so, I'm asked for the "network security key." How do I find that? I've searched everywhere I know how, to no avail. My network works fine w/ my MBP running Mavericks. Can someone help me?

The "key" is another word for your normal wireless network "password", sometimes called a "pass phrase".
The password generates a 64 character code of random letters and numbers. I doubt that this would be of any use to you, but if you want to see it.....
Open AirPort Utility on your Mavericks Mac
Click the AirPort icon, the click Edit
Click the Base Station icon at the top of the screen
    Click Show Passwords
More likely, you have a Windows Firewall issue, or Microsoft Security Essentials...if installed....is blocking the connection.  The anti-virus program can do the same thing.

  • How to find my security (network) key?

How to find my security(network) key for Airport Extreme?

Manufacturers use the word "key" to mean the wireless network "password" or "passphrase" for your network.
The actual "key" is 64 characters long. I doubt that this is what you are looking for, but if you want to see it......
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Base Station menu at the top of the screen
    Click Show Passwords

  • I am trying to find the network security key for my airport extreme router

I am trying to find the network security key for my airport extreme so I can hook up my pc lap top.

I am afraid that the "key" will be of no use to you (it is 64 characters long).....but I hope I am wrong.
Since you indicate that you are using an iPad, I assume that you are also using AirPort Utility on the iPad.
On the iPad home screen, tap AirPort Utility
    Tap on the AirPort Extreme
    Tap on Edit
    Tap on Advanced
    Tap on Show Passwords
Tap on Main Network and "key" will be revealed

Connecting my Sony BD player to my MacBook Pro wireless network.  It sees the network but it then asks for a WPA security key.  Where do I find this key?

    Hi Michael,
It sounds like your router's authentication is set to WPA and thus where the key is established. Does your MacBook Pro connect to a wireless router? If so, that's where you'd need to get the key from via a web-based control panel for the router or if it's an AEBS via AirPort Utility.

  • Finding the Network Security Key

I bought an HP laptop in August and I have a wireless router at my home. The problem is, when I stay at my father's house every other weekend, I need to access his wireless router in order to gain access to the internet to complete my school work. My older brother, who set up the router, refuses to tell me what the network security key is or where to find it. I need to know, so that I can access the internet to get work done. I haven't been able to find it by myself.

Unfortunately there will be no way to connect wirelessly to this network without having the access key.
But, you should be able to simply use a network cable to plug directly into the router.  Provided no other access restrictions are in place, no wireless key is needed to access the network.

  • Find security key

I need my airport security key in order to connect a directv wireless router.  Any help?

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Do NOT look at the window in the center of your screen
DO look at the way up to the very top of your computer screen to locate the AirPort Utility menu bar
Click on the Base Station menu
Click Equivalent Network Password and your "key" will be revealed to you
For what it is worth, DirecTV wireless devices have a very tough time connecting to any wireless network with an exclamation mark, apostrophe, etc in the name of the network. You will likely need to remove any marks like that from the name of your wireless network if they are in there to allow the DirecTV device to connect.

  • My Options- Sync does not offer a manage account so I cannot find a "recovery key" to sync with my Galaxy note III android.

I run firefox browser on Windows 7. I am trying to synch with my android Galaxy note 3. When I am asked for a recovery key I am directed to pull down the "sync" option an use the choices. But all I pull down is a menu to set up synch. How do I find my recovery? I have tried rebooting with no effect. Thank you

thanks for the answer but not only can I not obtain my security Key. That is half of the problem. Also when I go thru the motions of entering a 12 digit key on both my computer and android I get a "progress" bar on the android and the screen says "waiting for device" and eventually firefox on the android crashes.
This is not well set up by mozilla.

  • Cannot find the WPA key

I'm trying to connect my laptop to the internet. In the "WPA - Personal Needed for Connection" screen, it keeps asking for a passphrase, which is supposed to be the WPA key. I can't find my WPA key; I was hoping it was the Encryption Key, but it's not.
In order to find my WPA key, I tried to type in 192.168.1.1, and then type in admin as the the password, but it won't let me in. The password window just keeps popping up, and when I continue to type in my password correctly, it simply leads me to a purple screen and says "access denied"
    Help, please. :<

    Hi beavis01.....
It seems like you changed your router password...So, in order to access your router page, there is actually one way....You need to hard reset the router....
And you need to configure your router back all over again....
No worries....I will guide you all through the process....
Reason this thing happened  - someone push the Cisco System button at the front panel of your router...So the router wil automatically configure your wireless and set the security to WPA Personal...
Before that - how bout you try to put in 10digits of your phone number in the passphrase box...
    Give it a try k.....
    Thank you...!!!

  • Time capsule "Security Key"

According to Netflix, I need a "Security Key" for Time capsule so it can connect to my internet  ready TV.  What is that and how can I find it?  I could communicate with the TV until I had to do a hard reset on the router to make the network work.  My network is working fine otherwise.   Thanks for any help.

You should not change the password on a wireless network unless you also change the name of the wireless network. Various devices store the network name and password information and if you change the password, the device still sees the same network name and thinks that it should use the old password.
Try changing both the name of the wireless network and the password on the Time Capsule.
Access the settings for the wireless network as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Change the settings for both the Wireless Network Name and Password
    Write those down
Click Update to save your new settings
Then look for the name of the new wireless network and enter the new password to connect on all wireless devices
