Finding my videos in 3.5.1

I use Aperture to store stills and videos from a number of cameras.  In the old version, the Library list in the left-hand column showed Project, Recent etc. and at the bottom was a section for Library Albums, including one for Videos. This displayed all videos in the Library.  I cannot find how to do this in 3.5.1.
This is a problem as the latest iMovie does not seem to show whether an item in the Aperture library is a movie or still either.  Help!
Later:  On further examination, importing a bunch of videos and stills to my MacBook Pro with Aperture 3.4 from an iPhone 4S brings in all items.  The same import on the iMac running Mavericks and 3.5.1 only brings in the stills.
What is going on here? Has Apple taken away video support in 3.5.1?

No,
Aperture is still supporting videos.
Don't you see the "Album" section at all?
Aperture can hide complete sections - hover with the mouse to the right of any heading (Album, Projects,..) and there will be a Show/Hide toggle control.
If the "Videos" album is missing, recreate it:
File > New > Smart Album.
In the "Smart Settings" HUD add a rule "File Type is" and set it to "Video"
Set the source range of the rule to "Library"
-- Léonie
Added: The "Albums" section will be created only, if your Aperture library contains at least one album with "Source Library".

I have an older Power Mac G5 Quad, and my video card just went out. I am trying to find a video card that will work for my Power Mac. I have duel screens but I can't seem to find the appropriate video card. The serial number on my computer is: RM620603R6W. Apple won't help me because the computer is older than suggested. Please give me the exact video card that will work best for my computer.

Hi Mike, make sure the card has Mac ROM, or is a PC card with Mac ROMs flashed to it...
G5 PCIe options are listed here:

  • Where can I find a video that tells me how to set time on photos to 1 second each?

where can I find a video that tells me how to set time on photos to 1 second each? Where can I find a video that tells me how to add black space to the sides of all photos so that they display completely instead of only showing the center (which shows peoples' crotches but cuts off their heads- great huh?)? Would like to import whole folders of photos, set each to 1 second, have each display completely without distorting to fill. and "play" the timeline as I build it so that I can see if its working before putting in 2000 pics?

  • How can I find a video in iPhoto?

I am trying to find a video I took on my iPhone last year, and was subsequently imported into iPhoto.  I have all these possibilities to see "Events", "Albums", "Dates," "Faces," etc., but see no way to see only movies.  I tried looking back through the last year of imports, but did not see it there.  There must be some way to view only videos, mustn't there?
    I'm running iPhoto '09 v. 8.1.2 on a PowerMac (OSX v. 10.9.3).
I must say, I miss the pre-OSX days, when Macintoshes and their filing systems made sense!

    File -> New Smart Album
    Photo -> is -> Movie
    Or search for mov...
You'll continue to have problems with apps like iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes if you confuse them with the filing system. They're all databases, more powerful than the filing system, but with a learning curve. And, of course, none of them are compulsory. You can just stuff files in folders if you want.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Can't find the Video Chat application on my PlayBook

    Hey all,
I live in Saudi Arabia, I'm only stating where I live cause I have a feeling that this might be the reason of my problem. Anyway I can't find the video chat application icon on my playbook although I've updated its software to the latest OS 1.0.7 ---- I hope some1 help me with that cause I need this application desperately.
    Thanks

it may not be available to customers in saudi Arabia, if so do security wipe setting up with a proxy server in the US or Canada. This way you will have the video chat software.

  • IMovie '11 no longer finds my videos from (referenced) iPhoto '11

I'm not sure why, but now iMovie '11 no longer finds the videos that i have in iPhoto '11. It just says "No video clips match the current selection. Choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu, below." Is anyone else having this problem? Mine is a referenced library by the way

iMovie '11 no longer finds the videos that i have in iPhoto '11. It just says "No video clips match the current selection. Choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu, below."
I vaguely recall other users having this problem. I think the recommended solution is to set the iPhoto preference for "Importing" to "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". This option is the first item in the Advanced tab in iPhoto Preferences (from the menu item iPhoto>Preferences). My understanding is that if iPhoto is referencing photos and videos from outside of the library - that is, from other folders or locations on your internal or external drives - iMovie may not recognise them in some circumstances.
Sorry I can't be more definite about this without doing some research. Try copying one of the videos to the Library, then open iMovie to see if it is recognised. You mention that you have a "referenced library" - that triggered my memory of this issue.

  • Where can I find NeoMagic video driver for Thinkpad 600 ?

    Hello,
Can anyone managed to find the video driver for Thinkpad 600 which is NeoMagic NM2160 ?
    Thanks,

Actually the best place is the web site for the printer. You'll also need the model, but there are still some OS9 drivers out there.
You must supply the printer make and model for people here to help further.
