Finding old username unlinked to Facebook

I made a new Spotify account this morning, and linked it to my Facebook account. I had forgotten though that I already had an old account linked to the same Facebook. I want to delete the old account, but can't remember the old username, and obviously can't log in through Facebook. I can find the old account when logged onto Spotify, but it's just numbers, doesn't give a username. How do i find the old username to delete the account?

I don't think you can change your username (only create a new one as a new account). How would you have done this? Even if you could change it, I imagine you would've gotten an e-mail confirmation from Apple that you can try to retrieve. Worse case, contact AppleCare.

I changed my username and Password in Itunes on my computer. Now when I use my Iphone, Ipad, it asks for the password for the old username. when I type the password for that old user name, it says it's invalid. I figured I needed to delete the old Icloud account from my Iphone and Ipad, but they ask for the old password for the Old username. I type it in and it says invalid. As of now, I can't use Icloud or Itunes on either the Ipad or Iphone.... Help!

If the old ID ("username") is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Turn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Leave the window open.
Navigate in the Finder to your backup disk, and then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume. If you back up over a network, you'll first have to mount the disk image file containing your backups by double-clicking it. Descend into the folder until you see the snapshots, which are represented by folders with a name that begins with the date of the snapshot. Find the one you want to restore from. There's a link named "Latest" representing the most recent snapshot. Use that one, if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to remember the date of the snapshot you choose.
Inside the snapshot folder is a folder hierarchy like the one on the source disk. Find one of the items you can't restore and select it. Open the Info dialog for the selected item. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you may see an entry in the access list that shows "Fetching…" in the Name column. If so, click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate. Then delete the "Fetching…" item from the icon list. Click the gear icon below the list and select Apply to enclosed items from the popup menu.
Now you should be able either to copy the item in the Finder or to restore it in the time-travel view. If you use the time-travel view, be sure to select the snapshot you just modified. If successful, repeat the operation with the other items you were unable to restore. You can select multiple items in the Finder and open a single Info dialog for all of them by pressing the key combination option-command-I.
When you're done, turn TM back ON and close its preference pane.

Sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, App Store, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage on each device that uses your current Apple ID for these services.

Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in. Forgot your password?
Select Edit next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address.
Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID, then select Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. • How do I remove an old username from the app store when using the update function

How do I remove an old username from the app store when using the update function.
I purchased my Mac used.  The former owners username prepopulates when I try to perform the updated function on the app store.  It does not allow me to use a different user name.    I have created my own username and password.  I have even been able to purchase items from the app store, it's just when I use the update function it does populate with my username.  Any help is appreciated.

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

  • After changing my username on my laptop I can no longer log in (with new or old username). How can I fix this?

My laptop won't accept my username (or the old username) since I changed it (I wanted to shorten it). I originally thought it was the password so went through the process of reinstalling the system with the original disk (with apple support help over the phone), but that wasn't the problem. How do I get the computer to recognize my username? Thanks!

Yeah, you can't do that so easily...
Return to default desktop, apparent "loss" of home directory, (it can happen spontaneously too)...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107854
But you have worse problems now, might see if this works, but first...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Do not continue if it fails to repair the disk.

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

  • Old Username won't go away and now I cannot update my Apps! What can I do?

When I synced my iPad 2 to my iTunes, it asked me to update the iPad to the new OS, which I did. Then it asked me to pick a username that had an email address. I already had a username from way back when I got my first iPod, but it was not an email address and the updated system would not accept it. I gave the email address that was associated with my account and the system continued on.
Once everything was updated, I went on my iPad and tried to update my apps. The window that popped up however had the "old" username, the one without an email address. I tried the password associated with that username, but it said that the password was wrong. I tried a few times until it got me to the forgot password screen. There, I used the send email authentication option, but I don't get an email to the address associated with that account. For the other option, the security question, it asks for my birth date and once I enter it, it says that the information does not match their records.
I have tried to sign out and re-sign with the new ID, I have visited the Apple store twice, spoke to somebody on the phone, nobody can solve this issue. At the store last night the "genius" re-setted it to factory settings and asked me to try to download a free app. When it asked for the password, the "new" ID, the one with the email address, popped up. I thought I was finally OK. But nope. When I synced the iPad with my iTunes stores to get all my apps previously purchached under the "old" username, the same problem persists.
PLEASE, Anyone has an idea on how to solve this?

I've been having the same problem for days and just solved it. Tried going to Apple ID and had all the same problems you did in the second paragraph. I signed out with my current username on the ipad under settings--->store and signed back in with my oldest apple id and password. Now the apps don't ask for a password to upgrade. I too had a username that wasn't an email address and had to change to one that was at some point. That's what caused the problems. Hope this can work for you.

  • I have a new PC (my old one crashed). I can't remember my old username/pword. I tried to set up a new acct. and my I Pod is erased! How can I get the songs back?

My old PC crashed, I bought a new one.  When in I tunes on my new PC, I could not remember my old username and password.  I created new ones.  Then I was instructed to connect my I Pod to my PC via USB,  Then I was asked if it was OK for I Tunes to erase all my data on my I Pod, Yes or Cancell.  I pressed Cancell.   All my 2,700 songs were promptly erased!
How can I retrieve them?  I can't remember my original username and password.

Unfortunately, if the iPod data has been erased by iTunes, there is no way you can retrieved them.

  • HT4314 How do I get my old username in gamecenter back now that it seems to have been eaten?

For christmas I got an upgrade from 3g to 5 on my phone.  I also got put on the cloud, though that doesn't seem to be working just like a LOT of things don't seem to be working, (like my password mysteriously not working and spending an hour at the store resetting it) but that's neither here nor there.  I never really liked the game center so I dealt with it directly as little as possible, but when trying to get back to my app games (specifically Plan X) the game center DEMANDED I pick a new nickname.  My old one, which is also my apple ID was not good enough now, but with a new user ID came a completely new ID on my games and a loss of all my stats.
Then I tried restoring from backup, and joy of joys I had a new, terrible, hard-to-remember username (because ten million billion good ones have all be taken already, including my old username that was somehow unacceptable and was now "in use," figure that out) with my old save games.
basically, what the **** is going on?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some content:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I am trying to set up an eprint account for a Laserjet P1606dn

I know the password, but it prompts me for a username.
I don't even remember defining a username, and have tried everything I can think of, without success.
How do I find the username?
When I discover how to log on to the computer through the IP address, I will need help in setting up a new email address.
The instructions are absent to tell me where to do this.  (There is no field that looks like an email address, or is labeled such)

What do you mean by router key? Is it a wireless network that you are trying to let others access? What type of router is it? If you google your router name and model number, you will find the default I.P. address and password needed to log in to it.

You can go to Settings>Store and log out of one account and log into another.  However, apps are tied to the account that originally purchased them.  You have to use that account to update them.  Also, if you have apps from more than one account that need updating, you have to update them individually using the correct account until the ones left are from only one account.  Then you can update all.
