Finding out the variable name of a Button?

When I use e.getSource in the ActionPerformed event I get a String like this:
javax.swing.JButton[4/4,84,60,21x20,layout=javax.swing.OverlayLayout,alignmentX=0.0,alignmentY=0.5,border=javax.swing.plaf.BorderUIResource$CompoundBorderUIResource@6f36,flags=48,maximumSize=,minimumSize=,preferredSize=,defaultIcon=,disabledIcon=,disabledSelectedIcon=,margin=javax.swing.plaf.InsetsUIResource[top=2,left=14,bottom=2,right=14],paintBorder=true,paintFocus=true,pressedIcon=,rolloverEnabled=false,rolloverIcon=,rolloverSelectedIcon=,selectedIcon=,text=,defaultCapable=true]I want to "extract" the button name which is "4/4" in this example. How can I do this without going through the String (using a method instead)?

this is just an idea:
String name ="";
if(e.getSource() instanceof JButton){
    JButton b =(JButton)e.getSource();
    name = b.getName()
