Finding path to my photos

I was attempting to download my photos, had some difficulties and now cannot access my photos through IPhoto. When I try to open IPhoto, the screen shows loading photos with a spinning wheel, but nothing happens. When I go to the IPhoto menu, almost everything is greyed out. I can see most of my folders through Finder, and can even open pics. I can't importpics - the "path" is not found. Any ideas??? HELP!!!!

OK, so I tried rebuilding the database. I didn't get a dialogue but got the option to create new library. I said yes. I now have a library but none of the photos are there. I then deleted the com.apple.iphoto.plist file and restarted iPhoto. It went to the new library that I had created which, again, did not have the photos. My thought is that if I had not created that library, deleting the com.apple.iphoto.plist file and restarting iPhoto might have worked but now how do I get rid of that library and try restarting. I really appreciate your help - as you can probably tell, I am relatively new to apple and have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

YES!!!
I finally managed to recover my iPhoto library!
But it was not easy. I had to hack into the database file to put up things right.
After a significant amount of trial-and-error, here is the procedure I came to, which finally worked for me (use at your own risk):
0. Make sure you make enough backups so as to revert to the previous state if something goes wrong!
1. Make a copy of your iPhoto Library [Show Package Contents]/Database/apdb/Library.apdb to your desktop.
This file contains most of the data involved for managing your iPhoto data.
2. Open this file using a SQLite database manager.
I used Navicat 9.1, which has nice import-export features. For direct editing, Base 2.0 is may be easier.
3. Open the table RKMaster.
This table contains all records for the individual pics of your library.
4. Correct the path of each of your pic files in the imagePath column to their current filepath.
This contains the path of your pic files at the time they were imported, and is not updated by iPhoto even though you have moved your pic files somewhere else.
If you have several thousands of paths to correct, a good idea is to export this column to a text file (also including the modelId column for referencing), and to correct paths using the substring Search&Replace function of your favorite text editor. Be sure to re-import the corrected data properly using the modelId column as references.
5. If needed, correct in the same manner the content of the fileVolumeUuid column to the value of the drive currently containing your picfiles.
If needed, obtain this value considering a pic which was recently imported from that drive.
6. If your drive name was modified, also correct its name in the name column of the RKVolume table.
Identify the proper record by considering its uuid previously obtained.
7. If you're happy with your work, quit the database managing program and put Library.apdb back in its original location inside your iPhoto Library.
Keep the older somewhere in case something goes wrong.
8. Run iPhoto to see if your work is successful!
At this point, you might consider rebuilding the Photo Library (hold alt-cmd while launching iPhoto) and choose Repair the iPhoto Library Database (Be sure to leave the Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup unchecked!). This might correct some possible unconsistencies resulting from your edits. Also, a good thing might be to rebuild all thumbnails. If iPhoto does not bug you for locating files during that process, you have possibly done your work right! If not, back to step 1.
As said, this worked for me, with no visible inconsistencies or side effects to be noticed in the behavior of iPhoto (at least for now). But possibly some knowledgable people might comment and improve that process, and some database script guru might also help automating this. Please comment.
Lessons learned (How I understand the things as far as I know):
A. Library.apdb stores the initial drive and path of the pic files at the time they were imported. This is not modified as the files are moved around.
B. Some other data (BLOBs?) is used to track the files at their actual location. Therefore, it seems OK to move the pic files after they were imported.
C. Unfortunately, this other data is broken if the file is recreated (even with same content and location), for example with a file-based backup and restore (Time Machine).
D. In that case, iPhoto is unable to recover the file if its current drive and path does not match the one when the file was imported, stored in the database. Also there is no mechanism in iPhoto to correct this data.
E. Therefore, it is very important to import pic files in iPhoto only when these are already in their final location! If not, your iPhoto Library won't survive a TimeMachine backup and restore! (Possibly, a block-based drive backup could work... I don't know).
F. ...And Apple should really, really fix this issue! (By correcting the stored filepath and drive to the current file location at least when the database is repaired, and by offering at least some basic file reconnection options).

I have searched the web and cannot find an answer to my question. I need the http path to my photo in order to upload it. How do i create or find the path to that specific photo?

After a bit more work (and judicious use of Firebugs
'console.dir(myDataSet)') I think I'm going to have to tell the
client that the XML will have to be changed first. I can't get the
url values using a path like 'photos/photo' - it just isn't deep
enough. But when I use 'photos/photo/urls' and attempt to access
the {url} variable it always seems to hold the content (in my
example, 'example3.jpg') of the last listed <url> tag. And
while I can use the spry:condition and spry:when to make sure I'm
only grabbing the urls of thumbnails if the provider should ever
change the XML output so that the large image url is output last
I'll never get that data using a spry dataset.
With a bit of luck we may be able to get the provider to
change their XML output. But is there a name for keeping the url
tags unique? Is there a reference or authority piece I can point to
online that debunks this approach so I have backup when I say
"You're XML is bad"?

Finding path to referenced library

I added about 10,000 images to iPhoto using a referenced library. Then the hard drive containing the referenced library crashed. I installed a new hard drive, restored the photos from a backup, but now I am sure that the path to the new drive is different than the path to the old drive. I'm thinking that by renaming the new drive and placing the photos in exactly the same path that existed on the old drive, everything can be restored to normal. Problem is, I don't know exactly what the old paths looked like. Is there a way in iPhoto to see the paths to the photos that now can't be found?

That dialogue is the first stage if the reconnect aliases dialogue, and no, I know of no way to force iPhoto to open the later version of the dialogue.
Here's one to try:
In a referenced Library iPhoto creates an alias in the iPhoto Library to the actual file. Right click on the Library icon in the Pictures Folder and go 'Show Package Contents'. A Finder window opens with the innards of the Library exposed. Go to the Originals folder, and open an Event folder there. Double click on one of the aliases to a pic there and see if the Finder dialogue will allow you to reconnect the alias. If it does, open iPhoto and see if that has fixed the issue - (worth a shot...)
Or, is there a way to go into iPhoto somewhere and change the name/IP address of the server?
None that I know of. That's stored in the library6.iphoto file. A few brave souls over the years have attempted to manipulate that for various reasons and I can't recall anyone having any success.

1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.

How to find a selection of photos taken at different dates but imported together. I want them in the same album but they're no longer in the "last import" album.

You cannot use iCloud Storage to suppliment your iPad. They are mainly used to backup iPad.
Free up space on iPad
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad.

How do I find my hidden/missing photos?

On my iPhone4 my Camera Roll is showing 925 photos, which I have recently backed up to my computer. However iTunes shows I have 2103 photos using 4.47 gb. On my phone under settings>general>usage>photos & camera it shows that I have used 4.6 gb. And on my phone under settings>general>about>photos it shows 2,065.
This is my 2nd iPhone, which replaced the 1st iPhone4 when it had a problem and stopped working. I am missing a whole lot of pictures, and so the over 2000 number makes sense. I just don't know how to find the hidden/missing photos.
Can anyone help me with this?

I think your numbers add up --- as follows:
iTunes says you have 2.103 photos. I claim they consist of:
925 photos on your Camera Roll
178 photos in your Photo Library
1,000 photos in your Photo Stream
2,103 total photos

Open the file with Preview, type Command + i to bring up the Info pane and it's color mode and profile will be listed as shown here:
To change the color mode to CMYK you'll need a 3rd party image editor like Photoshotp or GraphicConverter to do it. Why do you need CMYK?

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now empty the Safari cache.
Back to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari then try Facebook.
If that doesn't help, it may be a Safari extension preventing you from uploading content to Facebook.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

What strikes me first is the fact that the file its looking for is in the "C:\Upload\Test Upload\My Documents\" directory, but the error keeps saying "C:\powershellscripts\" which is where my script resides and not the files I want to
upload into SharePoint. When I step through the code, all the variables are holding the correct values. The $localFolderPath shows the name of files that I am attempting to upload, so it recognizes them. But once I step through this particular line of code,
the error occurs...

Is this an error caused because I am remoting into the Azure environment? Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
Update: quick thing I noticed is that these two lines of code are returning null values. Again, is this handled differently in Azure or remotely? I ask cause this is the way I know how to do this, locally.

"...square brackets are wildcard characters in Windows PowerShell..."
When you use cd without a parameter it uses the -Path parameter. In this case you'll have to escape the square brackets so they are not considered wildcards. Each of the commands in the first example does the exact same thing.
cd 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd -Path 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd (or Set-Location) also has a literal path parameter (-LiteralPath) that does not require using an escape character (`) before each of the brackets. Hope this helps.

How to find original iPhoto Album photos in Library (by Album content)

I have run out of Macbook space (OSX 10.7.5) and want to put all my photos on an external hard drive and share them between MacBook and iMac (no cloud please). I want to do this by "Album" name because that's how they are organized. I don't get the "events" thing in iPhoto, nor am I interested in the "Faces" stuff. Just simple file access is all I want.
QUESTION 1: How can I find the original photos after exporting by album? I want to delete these permanently from the Library -- from my MAC.
QUESTION 2: Is there a smarter way to get these photos onto my external drive than using "export?" And, is there a way to re-size a batch of files as opposed to one by one? I made all my camera photos the largest size possible, one reason I've run out of disk space. But to individually re-size would be impossible.
Note: I'm in a mess with photos. Have 20K on MacBook and about 25K on my iMac. There are 8 different iPhoto Libraries on my iMac, created by me in an effort to organize but I didn't know what I was doing and they are a total mess. My goal is to get them all into this hard drive from both computers then start all over again. But they need to be by album. I'm not an "Event" person -- doesn't make sense to me, so I've put all my photos in albums. When I start over I may not use iPhoto. Thinking of going back to Windows actually.

Photos has no built-in tools to screen the library for duplicates. It relies on the warning on import, that should prevent you from importing duplicates.
Once duplicate shave been imported, delete them manually, or use third-party tools.
