Finding photos to attach to email or docs

When i want to attach a photo to an e-mail or document, the browse only lets me see the nonsensical file name downloaded from the camera and by year, month, and sequence, not the album name, not the name i gave it. Is there a better way? As i understand some of the answers in this forum, you can't/don't-dare mess with the library. I want to (1) rename photos when i download/import them and have that apply to the file name and (2) be able to "batch rename". This feature is becoming a deal-breaker. If i can't do this easily in iPhoto, what other program can i download/buy that will do this? I really like iPhoto's organization, albums, etc. i don't edit much beyond "rotate", crop, red-eye, correct exposure, and would like to be able to remove an object maybe.
Using an iBook G4, OS 10.5.8, iPhoto 5.0.4. Would like to have a new Mac book and software, but can't afford now. This beater works fine, even if the labels are wearing off the keyboard letters....
Thanks, KasilofLeif

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.

  • Cannot find photos to attach from Mail

I am using a MacBook Pro (a friend's), and we've run into a problem I've never seen before. When we try to attach a photo to an email using Mail, and we navigate to the iPhoto folder, there are only a handful of folders within each year's folder, and those don't seem to have the actual photos in them, only data files. I am baffled by this, as I can attach any photo to my email in Mail by simply navigating to the right dated folder within my iPhoto folder. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? We've opened up his iPhoto, and the pictures are all dated and in the proper order.
    thanks in advance....

Hello, I am having the same problem. I have a Agfa 1680 camera that will only work on 9.2.2 OS. All my photos have to be uploaded to Agfa image file. Then I import to Iphoto in 10.4 OS. With Iphoto 2.0 I was able to import just one photo. With Iphoto 6 when I try to Import, can import only complete Album, images just show gray shadow and do the same when wanting to attach to email. The Agfa images were JPG, but some people couldn't see them when I sent them. I would import to Iphoto and attach to email, then they could see pictures. In iphoto2 it was easy to find image, but with Iphoto 6 they seem to disappear. I installed 10.4.6, 120GB harddrive and Ilife'O6 just before Christmas. Both harddrives are bootable in 9.2.2 and 10.4. I was in 10.4 on 120gb drive last night trying to attach picture to email. I cleaned all the images out of that file and started over. When I restarted & opened Iphoto on 60GB drive it completely rebuilt Iphoto Library on 120GB hard drive back to the same as one on the 60GB drive. I have IPhoto6 application installed on both harddrives. Apple made it harder to find and attach images to email from Iphoto. I also backup all my files to an external Acomdata USB 2.0 60GB harddrive.

  • How I share iPhone 5 IOS 7 photos as "attachment" in email?

I used to take photos with my iPhone 4 and 5 prior to IOS 7 and be able to share these photos in bulk as attachments in an email. The photos used to be recognized by MS outlook as jpeg attachments. In this process, there was an automatically generated attachment file in connection with each photo that allowed MS outlook to "save all attachments" at once in jpeg format. Now, with IOS 7 and higher, photos shared from iPhone (or ipad) using IOS 7 or higher are sent automatically as some sort of integrated part of the body of the email and cannot be recognized as attachments by Outlook, therefore cannot be saved by MS outlook unless several extra steps are taken to convert them individually from bitmap into Jpeg. I have been using my iPad with my old IOS version (Pre IOS 7) to take these photos and to share them with my MS outlook and to be appropriately saved as jpeg. For my professional use I need to take photos and relay them back into my outlook email to store in a database. I regret I converted by iPhone into IOS 7 and higher. Please help.

I'm sure that there is a reaon that I jsut don't get but why not either just import via Autoplay or let iCloud download them to the computer it's self. Either way I sadly do not have a direct answer to your request currently.

  • I write a letter in word then I try to save it I can't find document add attachment in email just find document again where is it being saved to my college has changed to this browser I can't get homework to professor having to copy paste email

    not sure

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • When photos are attached to emails, they don't completely open.

This only started being a problem a short while ago. Never had this problem before. The photos only show the top inch or so, not the complete picture. The same is true when I try to open a website that is included in an article.

Does it help if you right-click such an incomplete image and middle-click View Image to open that image in a new tab?

I am using a MacBook Pro.  I simply cannot find a way to attach images adjusted in Lightroom as attachments and/or without massive degradation in quality.  I follow the LR attach email process as specified by LR, the photos appear in the email seemingly embedded and the recipients of the email cannot save the attachment.

You are welcome.  Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available.  Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:).  They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though.  My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you.  All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos.  The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product.  I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back.  I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think.  I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP).  I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine.  I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there.  They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time.  Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming  Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.
Please feel free to contact me with further questions if you wish.
    Take care, Gordy

  • Since upgrading to Lion, my PC recipients are not receiving photos I attach to the email sent from iphoto. Why?

Since I upgraded to Lion, my photos are not attached to emails. Example: I select photos in iphoto, click Share and send the email.
Recipients tell me that there is 'nothing attached, no photo attached."  Can you help?

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

  • How can I attach a photo to an existing email ? (iPhone 4s and I don't know what iPhoto is)

Someone please help ! I'm a new owner of an iPhone 4s and I need to attach a photo to an existing email, but can't figure out how to do it. I have no idea what iPhoto is and need every step spelled out, in great detail, as I'm still very new at all the wonders of this great phone.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandy

There is (to my knowledge) no way to do this with an existing email.  You can create a new email message with a photo attachment from your 'Photos' app though.  Open your photos app, select which photo you want to email, and then click the arrow in the botom left hand corner, and choose 'Mail.

i have scrolled left, right, up and down on iphone4, iphone5 and ipad and the attachment simply does not exist.  It has to be something with the apple mail client setup because for any mail client, if they go to the webemail thru safari, the attachment is there and it can be viewed without issue.
I know there are plenty of people out there with this issue with the mail clients set up that you access thru the email icon on the iphone and ipad but i cannot find anyone with a resolution.  I cannot find any settings in the mail client setup that has anything to do with attachments or for what attachments can or cannot be read or seen.
Hopefully someone out there has figured something out because this is an odd one.

Windows Phone 8.1 is so full of surprises and opens the Windows Phone faithful up to a new world of apps.
    Video editors and
file managers are just some of the new app categories possible thanks to Windows Phone 8.1. We’ve seen an official video editing app from Microsoft already, but today we finally get Files – the official file manager for Windows Phone.

I AM TRYING TO EMAIL PHOTOS as attachment, without the photo in full view - my recipient is requesting it as an ATTACHMENT - jpeg or otherwise - he is having trouble dragging it off - and opening it into photoshop - he's not a MAC guy (pity him) - but he can't seem to get my photos into photoshop - I've even tried sending them through my kodakgallery website as an album.
And I've used the print menu to make them pdf - but then he says they only open in Acrobat Reader ...

  • How do I scan a photo to a file and then send the file as an attachment via email.

How do I scan a photo to a file and then send the file as an attachment  via email.

All of this depends largely on what printer /software you have, which Email client you use and to some extent which OS you are running.
Most HP printers have HP Solution Center which is used to set up scanning, choosing where to save, etc. Once a file/photo is scanned and saved to the folder, open the folder.Select the file and at the top of the window should be the option to 'Email'.
