it doesn't offer a choice. maybe it installs both, but the only one that's showing in the Programs list is the 32-bit.
I've worked out how to fix the problems I had - here's what I had to do:
manually find the .exe in the 64-bit Programs directory and create a shortcut to that
hack the registry so that CC is recognised as a valid "open with" program (by manually editing 'CS6' to 'CC' according to some instructions I found on another site)
delete CS6
then install my plug-ins, manually.
The whole process is way messier than it needs to be, and none of this is documented on the Adobe site.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

I am working with beat markers and it was going along fine until suddenly everything went awry. I dropped in a bunch of photos and the last photo assigned itself a time of over 3 minutes. Beat markers are at less than 1 second. I have removed the beat markers for the photos I want to remove, in order to try again. When I try to delete the 3 minute picture the entire project loses its beat markers AND on top of all of that, I can only see the top 1/4 of the pics in the bottom line of the project. I've tried several work arounds and can't fix this. Anyone have suggestions?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost

My thumbnails have all disappeared. If I view events there is the same one for all 270 events and if I open an event I have clack thumbnails. I can only see the photo if I open it individually.

I don't particularly like iPhoto I use it essentially to take photos off my camera and store all the originals. I use Photoshop. Does any music show in the Purchased tab on the iTunes store app on your phone ? Music can't be re-downloaded in all countries, and even where it can be it will only appear whilst it remains in the store. Do you have your purchases on your computer and/or on a backup of your puchases so that you can sync them to your phone ?

Yes I tried that. I finally turned off all home sharing settings, shut down my desktop and found them in my account settings in the store on the cloud. So at that point I just had it download everything. But I suspect that with the ipad somehow being on, the store was saying I had already received them? If not, you should always do so*:

You never know when a hard drive or a directory might go bad. Having a bootable clone is a must.
That link also shows you some tools you can use to recover data.
If you aren't backed up, try buying those tools first, before attempting to repair the directory.

I selected "all". I always tried selecting pages "1-3".
The only choice that works is current page. Very strange.
