Finding previous files in LR

Hi. my computer crashed and had to be reset to the factory settings and Ive reinstalled LR... how do I retrieve all my files and presets from the Cloud from my previous version?  I frequently backed up my LR within LR!

As a point of clarification, your photos are never "in" Lightroom. If you use Lightroom to download from your camera, the process simply puts the images in a folder of your choosing on your hard drive and then remembers where they are located. Any adjustments that you make get stored in the catalog and that information is in a separate file. Lightroom does not magically or mysteriously encapsulate your images into some private place. It simply points to them wherever they have been placed on your computer system.
The same is true if you "add" images that are already on your hard drive. Lightroom does nothing to those images. The import process simply points Lightroom to that folder, enabling it to store changes in the catalog. The images remain in the folder. That is why backing up the catalog is so important. The backing up your images is your responsibility. You need to design a system that works for you and then back up on a regular basis. Lightroom DOES NOT back up your images.
The only role the cloud plays in this whole process is that it is your source for downloading the program which is installed  locally on your computer. And it is where updates to the program will be downloaded from enabling you to keep the program on your computer up to date. If you want cloud backup services they are available from a number of providers. But Adobe is not one of them as far as I'm aware.

  • Firefox can't find the file at (a location is specified) when either "Navigate previous" (and next) buttons are pressed in an HTML5 skin (but OK in IE/Chrome).

I create HTML5 help projects from a package called MadCap Flare. It uses what they call an HTML5 'skin' that sets the style/layout of the page and also includes 'Navigate previous' and 'Navigate next' buttons. When viewing the help and pressing these navigate buttons in IE8 or Chrome 32 there is no problem, but in Firefox 27 I get the following: (typical error for pressing a button on any page)
    "File not found"
    "Firefox can't find the file at /C:/SVN/FlareEnglishOnLineHelp/Output/HTML5_Help_Modeller_Reference/4attrib/idh_jointinterface_element_meshes.htm?TocPath=Modeller Reference Manual|Chapter 5 : Model Attributes|Meshing|_____2."

    - Because the files and buttons work in other browsers I'm wondering just what is going on here with Firefox>>>>

I should correct that last entry and state that the | charactacters are generated automatically in the Toc-Path for each 'book' name in the online help, and are not something manually created, whereas the : characters have come from the TOC book topic names (which were manually entered names and are what we would ideally require). But, because 'previous' and 'next' topics within nested TOC books without colon (:) characters CAN be browsed successfully when just | characters are present in the Toc-Path, the limitation would appear to be solely due to the : characters.

  • Can't find previous itunes file after moving info to an external drive to move library to new computer!!!  HELP

I have moved my itunes files numerous times to new computers as I get one.  This last time I had everything running off an external drive, to conserve hard drive space on computer and hopefully from computer failure.  I need to move library over to new computer and get away from old computer that has Windows XP to the computer with windows 7.  After installing itunes on new computer and plugging in external to new computer, it finds all music and movies, etc., however, I can't seem to find the file that has the playlist info, play count, and to see where the backups of my iphone(s) are.  I have been working at this for days to no avail.  It may be right in front of my face but can't see where to find it.  HELP!!!!

    Hi mechellr!

  • Everytime when I quit FCP X, I could not find the file that was created previously. I'm aware files (events/projects) are saved automatically. But strangely when I reopen FCP, the event/projects are not listed.

I need help here. Saved events/projects are not visible or listed when I reopen FCP X. Tried to open from the event folder don't seem to work.
    I'm using MacOS X 10.6.8 and just bought FCP X 10.1.
    Help.

No. I'm not using two hard drives. Files saved on MacBook Pro HDD. Only time I use the second HD is for backup but while working on FCP X.
    This is unclear.
Do you have another HD with FCP X projects and / or events?
If you do (whether it's a backup or not) it will cause the exact problem you described. Make sure any other drives with FCP X events or projects are turned off before you launch FCP X.
If you don't have a second drive with events or projects, I suggest you try trashing your preferences.
Faults like this can sometimes be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and quite safe).
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.
If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to go over your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.

  • App-v 4.6: cannot find the file specified

    Hi,
    Please see my previous
    post.
In short: an application needs Internet Explorer activex, then a plugin for Excel. My App-v package is working (Internet Explorer opening), but the Excel plugin does not work. It says "cannot find the file specified".
I copied the excel shortcut from start menu to q:\packagename.
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt
In .osd file of Excel plugin, there is the following:
        <CODEBASE HREF="RTSP://%SFT_SOFTGRIDSERVER%:554/WindowsX64/Application/1.0/excelplugin.sft" GUID="9FA88591-089E-4E57-89D5-C23239E83238" PARAMETERS="" FILENAME="%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE"
    SYSGUARDFILE="applic.001\osguard.cp" SIZE="305879730"/>
            <WORKINGDIR>%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft Office\Office12</WORKINGDIR>
The CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%, is that correct? If not, can I change it and how? Should I then reimport the package?
I might have found a solution but please advise:
    http://blog.gridmetric.com/2011/09/26/possible-caveats-in-mixing-32-bit-and-64-bit-app-v-packages-and-environments/
Office is x86, so I probably should change the %CSIDL_Programfiles% to %programfiles(x86)%?

Changing CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES to  %programfiles(x86)% is worth a try.
A common reason for that 'cannot find the file..' error message also often can be resolved by removing the Workingdir entry (<WORKINGDIR></WORKINGDIR>  or just <WORKINGDIR/>.
The way to apply the change depends on your deployment scenario. With an App-V Management Server (and for a test packae) you could modify (a copy of) the original .OSD file in the content share. Make sure you save with 'save as' and then 'Unicode'. Then
re-initiate a Server Refresh from the client, that should download the new OSD.
You also could - if it is permitted - create a copy of the client-local copy of the OSD file (you can figure that out with the Client Management Console). Double-Clicking that modified copy could do the trick.
If you use another deployment method (SCCM, MSI) you would need to moify the OSD file using the App-V Sequencer.
Whatever method you use during troubleshooting: For the 'final' pacage you should open the original package on the Sequencer ('Edit'), make the changes there and re-save + re-deploy the package. This makes sure that all information is consitent across the
    various App-V files

I am having trouble getting a wav file to play back at the click of a button. I keep getting an exception error saying the system cannot find the file, however the Win1.wav file is in the default directory. Perhaps there is a problem with my code. Can you please have a look at my code below?

                 Clip clip = (Clip) AudioSystem

                 e.printStackTrace();
}Exception error - java.io.FileNotFoundException: \Win1.wav (The system cannot find the file specified)

Please disregard my previous post. I figured out that the problem was that I had the Win1.wav file in the src folder instead of the root project folder.

I looked at lenovo driver downloads site and tried following driver files for Windows 7 and both of them failed to install with the following error.  I tried installing other WLAN drivers also but they won't even install as required hardward is not there.

    Download this driver bcm4313
Start setup and extract the files. After that go to star menu/control panel/system/device manager. There you probably find out that network adapter driver is missing.Choose it and click with right mb for drop menu to show up.Select properties then Driver/Update Drivers...Select to load driver from computer hard drive and choose the path where extract files is.Default path is main partion C: and search for directory named Driver.
And yes...you get "Can not find setup file" error but dont worry.Files needed to instal driver are extract fine.

  • What is the name of the Bookmarks file? I just bought a new computer and can't find the file to transfer from the old computer. I'm going from Windows XP to Windows 7

I was running Firefox 4.1 on a 32 Bit Windows XP Computer. I just bought a 64 Bit Windows 7 computer and reinstalled Firefox. I backed up all of my XP programs and data to an external drive but I can't find a file for my previous Firefox Bookmarks. What is the filename and possible folder where I can find my old bookmarks and how do I import them into my new version?

Bookmarks and history are stored together in your profile folder in a database file named places.sqlite. These articles should help with restoring as much or as little of your other profile as you like:

  • My ipad quit backing up and it cannot find the file.  I tried putting on another computer after a hard reset but it says it cannot back up there either.

My ipad quit backing up because it cannot find the file.  I have tried a restore and hard reset and adding itunes to another computer and putting it on there but it still will cannot add the ipad to the new computer and back up.  I have an iPad (not iPad 2) and 5.01 OS.  It appears that my iPad is not fully fuctional since I updated to the new OS which is when my ipad stopped backing up.  I lost data too and some apps don't work anymore.

Have you previously synced photos to the iPad, as that occasionally causes the 'missing file' error. If so then try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try backing up - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314.
In terms of apps not working, if it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • "The system cannot find the file specified." on BackgroundDownloader.getCurrentDownloadsAsync

    The method
    Windows.Networking.BackgroundTransfer.BackgroundDownloader.getCurrentDownloadsAsync()
will consistently error out for me.
    To repro this:
Start a bunch of (preferably large) download operations using the BackgroundDownloader.
Wait for a couple to start.
    Kill the app with Alt+F4.
Try to load the previously added downloads using the above method.
For me the method consistently fails and calls the error callback on the promise with the message "The system cannot find the file specified."
Seeing this happen in prod too and it is causing all kinds of havoc. The BackgroundDownloader does not continue to function at all, until the /AC/BackgroundTransferApi folder is removed from the app directory or the app is reinstalled.
Can anyone confirm this? Is there a solution?
    Cheers,
    Felix

    Hi CensoredUser,
Thank you reporting this issue, I can reproduce it as you provided, but I think this is not the common status in
app life cycle. Can you tell me why you need do ALT+F4 action?
For a quick work around, reinstall app is an option to ignore this issue.

  • Muse 8.0 crashes when I try to open a previous file

I just upgraded to Adobe Muse 8.0 and I cannot load a previous project. When I click the load button it shows the finder then immediately crashes. This is so frustrating. I can open the previous version of Muse just fine. I have uninstalled and installed several times and no luck. Anyone else having the same issue?

In addition, this is part of the error I'm receiving:
    Application Specific Information:
Performing @selector(dispatchMenuSelection:) from sender DVAMacMenuItem 0x6080000fba80
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[__NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 9 beyond bounds [0 .. 6]'
    abort() called
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
I should add... I was finally able to open up a project in 8.0 by opening up a project via Finder. All was going well until I tried to find a file for my fill and then it crashed the program once again. Anytime it opens finder it crashes.

  • EA2: "Unable to Find Source File" when debugging

    Hi,
I was remote debugging and hit a breakpoint in a trigger which I hadn't open.
The "Unable to Find Source File" dialog popped up, saying "Unable to find source file for package $Oracle.Trigger.SCHEMA, filename TRIGGER.pls", with SCHEMA being the current schema and TRIGGER the trigger (which never got saved to file BTW).

at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:121)Pre-1.5, there were some occasions where the dialog would show, but now it seems it shows whenever the source isn't opened (tried also with a package).
Also pre-1.5, indicating the correct connection to search the source in would put sqldev on the right path again and the source would open correctly, but this doesn't work anymore. Maybe that's because you had to use the second drop-down, and in 1.5 there's only 1, which might be the useless (first) one from pre-1.5.
Besides, judging from the "$Oracle.Trigger.SCHEMA", I'd say sqldev already knows the right schema anyway, and the dialog shouldn't even pop up.
BTW, after opening the source myself, the debugger stepped right in...
Hope you've got enough to go on,
    K.

  • Unable to find source file

I had a error message "Unable to Find Source File" when I used JDeveloper debugger.
The debugger has finished stepping, but it cannot find the source file.
Unable to find source file for package oracle.e1.bssv....
Project xxxxxx.jpr has already been searched
    * Look for the file in Project
    * Let me find the file myself with the open file dialog
    * Don't ask me about this file again
The above 3 options are available
I checked and found previous posting for use 'Step Over' to bypass this problem. I tried and it did not work either.
Please let me know if anybody has similar problem and know the solution. Thanks
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0

You see this dialog because you stepped into a statement which requires source code which is not part of your project (or you don't have). If you have the sources you can browse for them, if you don't have them answer the dialog with the third option.
You should try 'step out' instead of step over. Once you see this message it's to late to step over the statement (pointing to source you don't have available). You may need to set out a couple of times to get back to code you have sources from.

  • IWeb can't find previous pages after transfer/reinstall

I recently got a "new" (read: my husband's previous) MacBook Pro and lost some of my files/folders due to a problem during the transfer.  I had to reinstall iWeb and now it won't find the pages I had created and published previously with it.  The pages are in their own folder (SuzWebPages) as I had to manually restore them instead of letting the computer copy everything over.  When I open iWeb, it can't find the pages.  I have looked through other help topics on this and tried moving the SuzWebPages folder to the iWeb folder in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and renaming it to a .sites2 file, but iWeb still doesn't see the folder/site/pages and opens with the choose a new page screen.  When I right-click and choose Open With on the actual pages, iWeb is grayed out.
I went from Yosemite 10.10.1 to the same version.  I had to reinstall many programs which did not transfer or were corrupted, such as MS Word, Safari, and Mail, but all were able to find my previous files although none retained my information.
Any suggestions?  I can provide any further information needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Suz

The file/package you need to have for use with iWeb is called Domain.sites2.  The folder containing your published webpages is of no use with iWeb.
If you still have your old Mac go to your Home/Library/Applications Support folder and look for the iWeb folder. It will have the domain file you need.  Copy the iWeb folder to the same location on your new Mac and launch iWeb.
Otherwise you'll have to rebuild your webpage from scratch.  If you have to do that I suggest you switch over to a new web development application as iWeb has been discontinued for about 2 years.
One app that many have migrated to because it is so like iWeb in its user interface and how it works (but with many more features) is EverWeb.  There's a 30 day demo version that you can try to see if you like it.  To recreate your website with it you can copy text and photos from your existing site and paste into the EverWeb version.
For other potential iWeb replacement apps search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement".

  • Finding Duplicated Files

What is the easiest way to find duplicated files throughout the hard drive? I have just managed to eliminate 6 GB of files that had arisen because previously I had files and clones on 3 separate Hard Drives and had lost track at times. I am now consolidating to one HD and cleaning out the excess fat by laboriously going through several folders by hand. It takes a lot of time.
Is there a way of getting Spotlight to identify unnecessary duplicates systemwide? Or is there another method?

I have seen reports of success using dupeGuru:
