Finding printer's IP address on Appletalk Network

I'm trying to install RIP software for my Fuji Pictrography printer which is on a wired ethernet appletalk network with a switch. in order for the RIP sofware to work I need to find the printer's IP address. How do I find this information?

  • Trouble adding printer to HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app - can't find printer's email address

I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart c6380 to my iPhone. I already downloaded the app and my printer is connected to my wireless network, as is my iPhone, but I can't add my printer to the app.
When I go to "Manage ePrinters" and try to add a printer with the + button I see 3 choices:
Add ePrinter from list: "No ePrinters available"
Add Manually: I can't find the printer's email address even using the instructions found at the ePrint center.
Add from WiFi Network: My printer isn't shown in this list so it does not support auto discovery.
So I'm guessing that if I could just find my printer's email address that would connect it to my iPhone for wireless printing, but I can't for the life of me find it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello amybett,
I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that your printer is not Airprint/ePrint capable. However, the good news is that with the HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app it does not need to be Airprint/Eprint capable, as long as it is connected to the same network as your phone.
Here are the steps you will want to take to print something:
    1. Setup the app by completing the email registration and entering the code (which I believe you have).
    2. Select the item you wish to print using the menu in the app (Photo Albums, Saved Files, Web Browser, etc.).
    3. Once you select the item you should see the item and a large "Print" button under it.
    4. If the printer you want to print to is not listed above the "Print" button, select the icon on the right (wrench/computer) and select the printer you wish to use (along with other settings).
    5. Tap on the "Back" button in the top left corner, then tap "Done" (blue button in the top right corner), and then tap the "Print" button to print your item.
Let me know if you are still having trouble after following the guide above.

    1) Turn OFF the wireless radio

    3) Turn OFF the printer and unplug the power cable from the back. Wait for 5 min
    4) Reconnect the power cable and turn ON the printer
    5) Run the wireless setup wizard from the printer menu.
    6) check if you are able to print and scan

  • Can't find printer on network

Since installing 10.6 on my wifes MacBook Pro I can no longer see the printers over the network. MBP is connected via airport to an Airport Extreme which is connected to my G5 via ethernet cables. 2 ethernet printers (Konica Minolta 9100 & 7300) connected to the Extreme. This all worked just fine on 10.5. I know I won't get new drivers from KM but I'm prepared to use a generic set-up if I can just get the MBP to see the printers in the System Preferences? Can anyone help please?

    Hi,
Snow Leopard drops support for AppleTalk which is why your printers aren't being found. I actually just figured out how to get my PagePro 9100 working. I followed instructions in an old Konica Minolta support PDF document that you can download here:
    http://download6.konicaminolta.eu/konmin/servlet/KonMinMaster;jsessionid=76A8CD3 E53E2C5BB435B76A3F0BD3B1F.node03?path=../search.jsp&mode=show&document=23268
Before you start though you'll also need to know your printers IP address, the PagePro 9100 can be set to have a fixed IP address but this wasn't needed when printing using AppleTalk so yours may not be set up with one. You'll need to get that changed using the printer's controls on the top. There's another thread about this which is now closed which may have some helpful tips too:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10183203
    *Quick instructions!*
You need to set the printer up using the IP printing method, you'll see a blue circular globe icon in the Add Printer dialog so click that option.
Use the Line Printer Daemon option under the 'Protocol' drop down.
Enter the fixed IP address of your printer into the 'Address' field.
Enter a queue name in the 'Queue' field (I used PagePro 9100).
The 'Name' field will probably have taken the IP address automatically but this can be changed to PagePro 9100 too.
Select the 'Select Printer Software' in the 'Print Using' dropdown at the bottom. You should be able to find the Konica Minolta PagePro 9100 PPD file in the list. Choose that from the list.
Set the appropriate trays / bins etc for your printer etc and then that should be you set up hopefully!
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers,
    Rick

  • How can I print from a Windows PC to an AppleTalk networked printer?

I have a Windows Dell laptop (NT w/SP 2) that normally prints on a Windows network at my office.
At home, I have an AppleTalk network that includes a cable modem, router, various Macs connected by either Ethernet or wireless, and an HP 2100TN printer connected to that router via Ethernet. My AirPort Extreme also connects to that hub, so the network is a combination of Ethernet wired and wireless devices. When I connect the Windows laptop to this network (either wirelessly or by Ethernet), it cannot find the printer (although I am able to get to the Internet). I've tried to install Bonjour (Bonjour64Setup.exe) on the Windows machine, but it refuses (comes back with a message saying that "Bonjour is not a valid Win32 application").
I am trying to find out how to get the Windows laptop to find and use the HP networked printer.

Thanks for the various suggestions (the successful one was the HP Wizard).
I couldn't find the IP address of the printer (the test page-- when printed directly from the printer-- does not show the IP address, nor does System Profiler), and the method used for the Airport Extreme USB printer was not necessary (although that may come in handy, some day).
I downloaded the HP Network Printer Wizard which made the whole process fairly easy and worked. The HP Wizard found the printer and got the printer up on the Windows printer list. It really didn't need for me to give it the IP address (it found it on its own).
    Thanks.

  • How to hide or rename the HP Printer's Mac address from Lion Finder Sidebar

I have an HP d100a all in one printer, and since upgrading to OSX 10.7 (Lion), my printer's mac address shows up in the Finder Sidebar under Shared devices. I understand this is for the printers SD card slot to be shared over my network, however the name is not user friendly.
Is there a way to rename what is displayed in the Finder window, from the devices mac address to a friendlier name?
If not, is there a way to disable the sharing of the SD card slot so it is hidden from the sidebar completely?
I have found several posts from people not knowing what this entry is, but I have not managed to find any posts that explain how to rename or hide the entry.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also registered to this forum to inform that the problem with showing the MAC-address in the sidebar of the finder is still not solved.
The strange thing is that the Embedded Web Server says:
"This specifies the Bonjour domain name assigned to the device, in the form <host name>.local. If a user-specified host name has not been assigned, the default host name HPxxxxxx is used, where xxxxxx are the last 6 digits of the LAN hardware (MAC) address. This option cannot be modified."
But I did assign a user-specified host name and that name does show-up everywere (also within Bonjour), except in the sidebar of the finder (hp###xx##x####). Lots of people have the same issue, when searching on the interet, but not one has found the solution.
Please help with solving this issues?

  • Changed network name and now e-print e-mail address doesn't work

I have a 6500A Plus Deskjet.  I have an hpconnected account and changed my e-print e-mail address to something I would remember.  Then I changed the name of my network.  I have to get a new claim code ..... I enter it and when I try to choose my e-print addrss, it says that it is already been taken.  I was on the hp site within a half an hour of changing my network name.

    Hi rfmal1,
Thank you for joining the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you needed to set up the ePrint feature of your Officejet 6500A after changing the name of your network.
Your previous ePrint email address will not be available, once an ePrint email address has been used it is no longer available to be claimed again. I am sorry if this has caused any inconvenience.

  • MBP with OS X 10.8 not finding printer on wired network

I'm having a problem with a one year old MBP, in a small office environment full of PCs, no longer being able to find a specific printer on the ethernet network.  The PCs are having no problems.  This is a small office with 6 PCs and one Mac.  All are networked via ethernet to print to a Xerox ColorQube 9303 and a Xerox WorkCenter 7545 printer.
The MBP had been using both printers for several months and was using OS X 10.7 during that time.  About a month ago the MBP lost connection to the Xerox WC 7545 printer.  I'm not sure but it may have occurred along the same time as the MBP being upgraded to OS X 10.8.
    This is what I've tried so far with no success, in this order;
Deleted and tried to re-install the printer in System Preferences but Xerox 7545 was not found.
Reset printing system,  and re-installed the Xerox ColorQube 9303.   The Xerox WC 7545 was not found.
Turned off printer, disconnected from network and AC power, waited a couple of minutes, reconnected to network and plugged back in and powered up.  Still not recognized in System Preferences.
Downloaded driver package from Xerox website, ran install package.  Installer instantly found Xerox ColorQube but did not find Xerox WC 7545.  Continued with installation and got "Installation Successfull" notice.  Tried installing printer in System Preferences and could not find printer.  Note that the Xerox website lists this driver as combatible with 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8.
Disconnected WC 7545 printer from network wall jack and connected directly to MBP and still could not be found in System Preferences.
Printed out status sheet from printer and used the IP address in Safari URL and was connected to printer.
Went to System Preferences and added printer manually using the IP address and successfully connected to the printer.
I'm able to print now, however, I'm using Apple's generic postscript printer.  This is not the way it should work.  I want to install the Xerox WC 7545 driver in System Preferences like it's supposed to and use the printer setup like it's supposed to work...like the PCs, dag-nab-it.
Why is the MBP not able to find this printer on the network on it's own, especially since it used to work this way?  Can anyone tell me what I'm over looking, or at least give me suggestions on trying something else?
    Thank you

There is no scanning support for this model.
MF ScanGear does not support the MF42xx series. And CanoScan Toolbox is just for the inkjet-based models and stand-alone scanners.
Also, there is no ICA driver for this model so you cannot use Image Capture.
And resetting the printing system will not resolve your issue.

  • Deskjet 3512 connected to wireless network but utility says 'Unable to find printer'

    1. Product Name and Number
         • HP Deskjet 3512
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
         • Windows 7 64-bit
     3. Error message (if any)
         Unable to find printer.
        Facts:
    - Printer is connected to network. Panel LED is unblinking blue and the status indicates the correct SSID for my network. Also the router config page indicates that the printer is connected with a correct IP (192.168.1.XX).
    - Wireless Network Test Results diagnostics of the printer states that all PASSED, except that the Internet says 'Not connected'.
    - Tried to ping the IP that the printer panel says, but cmd says: Destination Host Unreachable. Tried arp -a after that but it does not show the IP & MAC address of the printer.
    - Turned off: Windows firewall, router firewall (Telus Actiontec V1000H) and disabled MAC Address Control and uninstalled Avast AV and reboot.
    - Cannot access printer Embedded Web Server.
    - Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it didnt find the printer. And when it did find it, it was by using the USB cable. After selecting the fixes, it came to 'Unable to Find Printer again'.
     4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
         • No changes. Bought the printer and I'm having this issue.
    PLEASE HELP!

To start out sounds like this is a driver issue. I want to start with being sure that the removal of the software and reinstallation happened in the best possible fashion. I want you to follow my steps so I can be sure that we are both starting on the same page.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
find and install the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE if it is available :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5241114
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • I got all the way to the settings to find my printer's email address and it says it's not connected

officejet 6500A - Windows Vista I think - setting up my EPrint and tried to find my printer's email address and it says "the printer was unable to cnnect to the server"

    Hello cstace22,
I would try power cycling the printer to start with resolving your connection issue. While the printer is still on, unplug the power cord from the printer, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically.
If you are still experiencing issues after this has been done then you may want to try restoring your network defaults and then reconnecting to your wireless network.
    Hope this helps.

  • Finding My Printer's IP Address

Since I am trying to print to a printer that is on a network, I need its IP address to add it to my Mac. How can I find the IP address of my printer?
    Thanks,
    Mason

    Hi.
Is it a Network Printer, a printer attached to other computer on your network, or a printer connected to a print server?
    Assuming it's a network printer, you've got at least two ways to find it's ip address, one is by opening your router's configuration page, and looking at the DHCP clients list. Another way is using Terminal, at the prompt ping your ip address, but replacing the last set of numbrs by 255;
i.e: if your ip address is 168.192.2.3, you type: ping 168.192.2.255 and it will list all the connected clients to the network (end the command with ctrl-c).
If it's attached to another computer, it just shares the computer ip address.

    Hello jollygene,
You can find the printer's email address two different ways.  The first way is to log into ePrintCenter.com and look on the printer's page for the email address.  The second way is to touch the ePrint button on the front panel and it will display all of the printers web services information.

    Hi,
From the printer Front panel, navigate to Setup. Locate and enter Web Services. Aprove any of the steps to enable the service... allow the device several minutes to complete the registration, a page will print automatically with the printer code and the directions to select the email address from hpeprint.com.
