Finding Service Name

Okay, I'm a bonehead. I installed 9i release 2 on a Windows 2000 test box several months ago. I got busy and didn't write down any of the basic information for the instance, and now I need to find the Net Service Name. Is there in installation log that keeps track of things like that when you do an install?
Thanks!

Hi!
Open a command prompt and type
lsnrctl status
This should show you the service names that the Oracle instances on your machine has registered with the listener.
Note: Above is not tested on a 9i install :)

Fredrik

TNS-01101: Could not find service name LISTENER_SCAN1
Please give your suggestions and help on this issue.
    Thanks,

    HI,
Try to configure the tnsnames.ora in this format and let me know
if you are using load balancing , try
    TBESTDB =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node1_vip)(PORT = 1531))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node2_vip)(PORT = 1531))
    (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = TBESTDB)
And you can add below if you would like to  connect to specific instance
    RAC1 =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac1-vip)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = rac.oracle.com)
          (INSTANCE_NAME = rac1)
    RAC2=
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac2-vip)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = rac.oracle.com)
          (INSTANCE_NAME = rac2)
Note: Replace the SID, Servicename, hostname, port etc according to your environment, And also make sure that the tnsnames.ora should be in a proper format(eg : even the opening and closing bracket should be in correct order. If u add additional space also it will throw error..)

Found one article saying you can get this if previous version not fully removed, and to do a repair of the previous version, but as I said I uninstalled it and followed all steps for cleanup, so nothing to repair.

Here is the ERRORLOG file from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log.  At the bottom I am seeing the error you said before was a SAN issue.  I had hoped that issue was only with
SQL 2012, but it appears it is even with 2008?
If that is still the issue, I'm trying to understand if by the articles, if the SAN conflict is an OS issue or an SQL issue?   In other words, is it because the OS is Server 2012?   Or would this still occur if I install SQL
2008 on Server 2008 R2?    I don't know that they will be willing to upgrade the SAN, and I don't really want to fool with a .VHD (virtual disk) as a workaround speaks of.
If you're asking if I did this from your article:  select startup account for Database Engine services as NT Authority\SYSTEM
, I don't recall what I did this last time.  I was doing that the last few days, but I think I didn't switch it to that once, just to see if I would have success.  I don't know if that was this last time or not when I switched it.
Is there anywhere I can check that after the fact?

  • Unable to find a WSDL that has a definition for service name

    Hello,
I have a wsdl shared in mds and a composite with a bpel process that consumes that wsdl, but when that happens I get the following error:
oracle.fabric.common.FabricInvocationException: Unable to find the WSDL service defined for service name {http://directvla.com/schema/businessdomain/ServiceConfigurationRules/v1-0}ServiceConfigurationRules_pt. Please make sure that the port attribute for the binding defined in the composite file is correct by checking the namespace and service name in the #wsdl.endpoint element. In addition, check that the WSDL associated with the binding namespace is imported and currently reachable (check the import nodes at the top of the composite file). Finally, validate any HTTP proxy settings for the server.
I checked the composite, the wsdl and the endpoint and everything is ok. At the momment to avoid the error, the wsdl is local, but this is not a real solution, what I really need is to make it work with the mds.
    Can somebody help me?

  • Intermittent errors - Invoke() could not find the Service name

Users are getting intermittent error : Invoke() could not find the Service name, when opening the Xcelsius dashboards in PRODUCTION. The dashboard has several QAAW queries .These errors are poping up intermittently.
The dashboards are hosted utside the BO environment.
    BOXIR3.1
    Crystal Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise

As I continue to look into it, the only thing that I see differently when I am prompted for login is that I can specify the system to log into. I am now wondering if somehow this information is being lost and that is what is causing these issues. Given that the specified name cannot be found and that it does in fact recognize the correct name, I'm not entirely sure what the problem is.
    Further information:
If I disable the use of hard-coded logins and I am prompted, I can display results for the onLoad run. Yet the query is also set to refresh on 30 second intervals. On every subsequent interval I am getting this error.
I think this has something to do with sessions. How do I check which sessions exist on my box? CmcApp somewhere?
Edited by: Brian Comeau on Jun 4, 2009 12:24 AM
Checking in CmcApp I found some sessions. Here is what happens:
    Login to CmcApp Sessions tab
    -Administrator: 1 session at 5:45pm
    Launch browser to Xcelsius .swf
    Prompted for login information: Administrator/password
    -Administrator: 2 sessions at 6:30pm
I had previously set the timeout for sessions in QaaWS to 120 seconds
    After 2 minutes
    -Administrator: 1 session at 5:45pm
Yet throughout this time, I am still given this "invoke() could not find the service name" error. The name provided "qaawsIncidents" is the same name that I can see if I launch QaaWS.
    Ideas?

  • How does one find out the database name , service name in a database

    hi,
how do u find out the database name , service name , SID in a database.
    Please reply.
    Thanks ,
    Regards,
    RC

This particular information is available in the view V_$PARAMETER owned by SYS. But you can also login with Server Manager as user INTERNAL and run:
    SHOW PARAMETERS
The entries pertaining to the naming of the database are:
    1. db_name
    2. db_domain
    3. db_name
    4. instance_name
    5. service_names
GLOBAL_NAME is a static (not changing) Data Dictionary view which has just 1 attribute (column) called GLOBAL_NAME.
    When you run:
    select GLOBAL_NAME from GLOBAL_NAME;
You are returned the full global name of the database, i.e. the db_name and the db_domain joined together by dot (.) For e.g. if your db_name = mgmt and db_domain = tech.co.in, then your global_name will be MGMT.TECH.CO.IN.
    Ciao.

  • How to find the service  name (alias)

    Hi all,
When I try to 'import' dump, I am getting "TNS:could not resolve service name" error. So, i hope service name given is incorrect. Can I find the correct service name (alias) by querrying any table or searching any file?
    Oracle Version : 9.2.0.8.0
    Regards,
    ...

You get this error because Oracle can't find it in your tnsnames.ora which is at $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin, or /etc, or /var/opt/oracle, or in %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin in Windoze.
When there is a syntactical error in your tnsnames.ora you will also get this message.
You could have gathered this from looking up the error in the online documentation, couldn't you?

  • Given IP and port number, Is there a way to find the service name?

    Hi,
In the Java language, if I am given the IP and the Port number, is there way to lookup the corresponding service name?
    thanks, grace

There are a number of standard services by port number. You can get that from /etc/services on any nx system and put it into a map or array. That list doesn't change all that often.
In general though, as Dave says, no.
Assuming the service is not one of the standard ones and the same port may provide different services on different IP addresses, there would need to be some standard protocol for naming services that you could access at those IPs--either a "list of ports/services" service that's at a known port, or a request/response that would be standard across all IPs and ports. As far as I know, neither of those exist.

    Hi,
I've got the same error during my development of a page maintenance service.
Please check if the cm.jar is correctly deployed in your splservice.ear and check also all other deployment directories.
You can find them in the Output window of eclipse after execution of the "Deploy CM" script.
When the cm.jar is deployed well, check if you annotations are correct.
My annotations are looking like this:
    * Perform Batch Add.
    * @PageMaintenance (secured = false, service = CMIMDIMP,
    *      body = @DataElement (contents = { @DataField (name = CM_SIMULATION)
    *                  , @DataField (name = XML_REQUEST)}),
    *      actions = { "change"
    *            , "read"},
    *      modules = { "foundation"})
*/To connect a Page Maintenance Service, you must first create a service programm and the "service name" of the service program must match to
the name of the service annotation that you have specified on your Page Maintenance Service, in my case "CMIMDIMP".
There is no validation during the saving of the service programm, the validation happens when you save the Business Service.
BTW. you can use jd-gui.exe to decompile the cm.jar file but you will not see the annotations !
For viewing the ear file I'm using 7-zip.

  • WebtopNaming - can not find server name for server ID

We have a LB, and web servers in front of OpenSSO app servers in our environment.
OpenSSO debug log CoreSystem fills up with lot of errors like these:
ERROR: WebtopNaming.getServerFromID() can not find server name for server ID : 07
    com.iplanet.services.naming.ServerEntryNotFoundException: Cannot find server.
Sometimes, it even complains about a server id (07 in the following trace) which doesn't even exist in the Site Id Table.
There are no changes in the configuration. DNS is properly configured and all the servers and their connectivity are available. CoreSystem throws these errors even after a restart of opensso app servers.
Any ideas about the root cause?

Here is my site configuration in OpenSSO:
There are 4 servers in the two opensso hosts (2 secure, 2 non secure)
    Servers:
    http://host4.company.com:8080/openSSO
    http://host5.company.com:8080/openSSO
    https://host4.company.com:8443/openSSO
    https://host5.company.com:8443/openSSO
Only one site with secure URLs is configured
    Sites:
    site1
    Primary URL: https://opensso-qa.company.com:443/openSSO
    Assigned Servers:
    https://host4.company.com:8443/openSSO
    https://host5.company.com:8443/openSSO
From the CoreSystem log, Server ID definitions are:
    https://host4.company.com:8443/openSSO=01
    https://host5.company.com:8443/openSSO=02
    https://opensso-qa.company.com:443/openSSO=03
    http://host4.company.com:8080/openSSO=04
    http://host5.company.com:8080/openSSO=05
Sometimes it throws an exception with existing server IDs. But sometimes it also complains about non existing server IDs.

  • How to find table name for the fields from Standard Extractor in CRM system

How to find table name of fields from the standard extractor in CRM system ?
e.g. We use LBWE TCode in R/3 system to find table name for the field from Extractor VCSCL(e.g.).
Likewise is there any way to find table name for the fields from Standard extractor like 0CRM_LEAD_I.

    Hi ,
Please find the link below for understanding BW CRM analysis.
    http://help.sap.com/bp_biv135/html/bw.htm
activate the CRM DSs by scenario:
    1) Activate the application component hierarchy (tcode RSA9). Changes made to the application component hierarchy in the CRM system can be transferred to the BW using the "Edit Application Component Hierarchy" (SBIW - Postprocessing of DataSources).
SAP Note 434886 must be implemented in CRM 3.0 before the application component hierarchy is activated.
    2) Activate the Business Content DataSources (tcode RSA5).
Select/enter the application component and choose Execute (F8).
To compare the shipped and active versions, choose the 'Select Delta' pushbutton. If there is no active version of the DataSource, it is selected automatically.
To activate the shipped version, choose the 'Transfer DataSources' pushbutton.
    3) Management of the versions of the BW-Adapter metadata (tcode BWA5). All DataSources are displayed that are managed by the BW Adapter.
As in transaction RSA5 (Service API Metadata Activation), the 'Select Delta' function can be used to select the inactive DataSources or compare shipped and active versions.
You can also go directly to the screen for maintaining DataSources that are managed by the BW Adapter.
The 'Compare Version' function makes a detailed comparison of the shipped and active versions.
All BW-Adapter metadata is considered when versions are compared:
    Header information (Table SMOXHEAD)
    Mapping information (Table SMOXRELP)
    Global selection conditions (Table SMOXGSEL)
    Attribute key fields (Table SMOXAFLD)
    Hope this helps.

  • App store:ConnectionManager::invoke::Failed to find service connection url.

I can log into Apple with user name and password but can't log into App Store. Used it earlier to update Aperture.
Now i get this:ConnectionManager::invoke::Failed to find service connection url.

    Check GateKeeper ...
Open Sysem Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Select:  Mac App Store and identified developers
If that area is greyed out, click the padlock icon to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password.
    OS X: About Gatekeeper
If that didn't help, disable anti virus software if installed. Then try logging in.
And try deleting the cache associated with the App Store.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try logging in.
