Finding songs in iTunes after you change name of file

Hi:
Ok, sometimes my songs are not titled as I would like them to be. For example, a song might be titled "Dido--thanks.mp3" and it lives in the Various artists folder simply because iTunes automatically put it there when I imported it.
I want to rename it "Thanks" and move it to the "Dido-->AlbumY "folder.
I do this by right clicking and selecting Show in Finder, then physically renaming the file and moving it. I do it this way because I want the actual file to have the correct name, not just the iTunes tag. So that if I want to find it in the finder or use it with another player it is easy to find.
However, when I do this, the newly renamed and moved file is not automatically added to iTunes or automatically updated. How can I get this to happen?
Also, anyone know of a great software to change iTunes tags once I get them right in the actual file. I can't figure out how to use GimmeSomeTunes and iEatBrainz can never find my songs...

I bougth the iPad 2 and had the backup with different name for my iPad 1 and now when I started this new one, my previous notes and email configuration was not saved... Do you know how can I pick up my old notes in the iTunes ? I tried several times but did not find it and had thousands notes stored there...

Hi Carlos,
The notes and email settings are stored in the iPhone backup. To recover the Notes from the previous iPad, just restore the new iPad from the backup of the old iPad.

When I purchase ITunes music, and it is a song from a Greatest Hits album, the Year of the song shows the year the CD was released and not the year the song was released (i.e. a song may be from 1986, but the Greatest Hits album was released in 1999, so my songs in ITunes show 1999). So, I go into each of those songs and change it to the year that I want to be displayed. As long as I don't exit out of ITunes, it will show the year that I changed it to (i.e. the 1986 year in this case). But if I exit out of ITunes and then return to ITunes, the year reverts back to 1999. The same happens if I change the genre of a song from, say 'Pop' to 'Alternative', it will revert back the next time I log in.
Oddly enough, as soon as I right-click on that song to change it back, the year/genre that I had entered returns.
How can I make it so my changes are permanently displayed as I want them? This is pretty annoying when I try to find a song on my Ipod under a certain genre, but it doesn't appear in that genre because the incorrect information gets synched to the Ipod.

Make sure that these two options in Edit > Preferences > Store are turned off:

Your metadata entries should then be persistent - with these options checked iTunes will be comparing what you have with the information held in the iTunes Store, and will overwrite with the latter for Store purchases (and if you have iTunes Match). If you have any iOS devices you should also turn off Show All Music under Settings > Music.

Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If it's a Mac, try Senuti or Music Rescue.

Go into itunes preferences for burning and set it for audio CD.
THen burn an audio CD and use it like any other audio CD.

Can't change names of files in Finder after Leopard upgrade

OK, I'm sure this is an easy fix, but I haven't found this precise situation looking around. Hopefully someone can point me to exactly the right utility.
I had Tiger, then upgraded to Leopard, then had some of the problems reported elsewhere on this board (iCal that wouldn't index; etc.). I decided to do an Archive and Install of Leopard, and that basically went fine. Now I have an iCal that will index (although it still fails to automatically delete items older than a certain age, but I can work around that)... and the daunting task of reinstalling everything.
I can handle that, but... this has me stumped. From my Previous System folder I rescued a bunch of Keynote documents which I need to work on, and of course many other files. I frequently get Permissions problems, and I thought I knew what to do: add my new Admin account as a user, select it as the new Owner in the popup, then apply to all enclosed items in the folder. This does indeed work OK in many cases...
But now I have a simple Keynote document which I COPIED (didn't even move!) out of its location deep inside the Previous Systems folder, and now it won't let me rename it in the Finder. It says I own it! Why not?
I have run Disk Utility and Repaired Permissions. It found about 30 things to repair, none of which seem to involve my Keynote; and indeed the Keynote is still un-rename-able.
Help!
One final point, probably unimportant, but I should mention it. I did NOT intend to do this, but my fingers slipped and my new admin account has the same name as the previous owner of everything. Is this likely to cause massive confusion? If so, what do I do... make a new, carefully named admin account and change everything over to it?

Well, it wasn't an easy fix. I guess that's why no one responded.
I had to backup, zap my hard drive, and install a fresh copy of Leopard. No archive and install for me this time!!
Even then I had permissions issues after restoring files from a backup. (I didn't want to use Migration Assistant, because I presumed it would transfer some corrupt index files.) I searched around these forums and finally found an Apple page that gave 2 Terminal commands to fix a Finder bombing problem. That wasn't my problem, but it was permissions-related, and it fixed almost all the problems.
Now I know that the solution for those pesky remaining ones is to create a new folder in my home directory, copy the offending files into it, Get Info on the enclosing folder, unlock it using my Admin password, tell it to copy the folder's permissions to the contents, then check to see if the offending permissions have vanished. If so, trash the originals (that password will be needed again!) and transfer the clean ones back to their original locations.
Sigh. Apple, why did you change all those Permissions things in Leopard without providing a fix for this kind of stuff??

How do you update apps that where purchased using different iTunes accounts? I get a cannot connect to iTunes message and it won't accept the password even after you change it.

Both my iPad and iPhone have the same problem. I have purchased apps with three different accounts. I understand I will need to use the original acct to do the update but every time it asks for the password I put it in and get a message that I cannot connect to iTunes store. I have even had the password reset and it still will not connect on the upgrade. But I can sign in with that account and purchase new apps i am loading a free one now just to make sure. So what is that about? Please do not tell me I have to also use the original password! We have reset them so many times that there is no way to remember the original one used at time of purchase a year and 1/2 ago. Please help. I have also upgraded to the iCloud thinking this would solve the problem but it still exists.

I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts?
