Finding songs NOT downloaded? Missing info

Have a brand new 80 gb video iPod. After downloading ALL my music from iTunes, I notice that the iPod has about a dozen FEWER songs in the library than my iTunes collection. Is there some way to locate or identify which tunes/files were NOT downloaded to the iPod?
Also, I have found that some iPod searches don't yield the same result as when I search on iTunes. That is, if I search iTunes for songs by Dave Loggins (under artist) field, it finds all six songs. However, when I used iPod's search feature, it only finds one of those songs. iPod finds them if I search by track name, but not by artist name. Anyone else run into th is?

1) If you are a .mac member, you can download "Backup" free of charge. It WILL create periodic backups of e.g. itunes, and when you need to recreate your itunes library, it WILL correctly reproduce with all tags etc. Used it myself three times during migration from G5 to Mac Pro.
This should avert further little disasters like that.
2) With reference to your "albumless" songs, I can only suggest using the mouse, clicking on "albums" in itunes, which will list all songs in album order, and hopefully, all "albumless" songs will be in that group. Then, via "Get info" (select the song, then press "cmd+i" key combination), you should in "info" tabe be able to rename the songs and albums. Probably piece work, but if you do 2 first, then do a backup as per 1. I am sure there is other backup tools out there, but this worked for me. I know how painstaking it is to organsie itunes if it's a mess.
3) Itunes also burns the songs onto cd with an "authorized" computer. but I found, reinstalling from cd did not work as well as backup.
4) Automator (part of your apps) may also work.
Good luck

  • Some songs not downloading to my new iPhone 4 S

After I sync I'm getting a message - 20 songs not download to your iPhone.  See iTunes for more information.
There is no information in iTunes.  During a sync, I've also seen a message saying you must accept a new store terms of service.  However, when I go to the phoen on my mobile or computer, I'm not prompted to do this.  In fact, I can even find a place to voluntarily accept new T&Cs.  Thoughts?
This is happening on a new iphone 4s.  All of these songs synced fine with my Iphoen 4.
BTW, several of these songs are recent purchases
    - no DRM protection
    - purchased with the account that I'm syncing under
    Thanks, Michael.

    Hello Vmelo
Note: To purchase songs from the Wi-Fi Music Store, you must also have been signed in to that account in iTunes the last time synced iPod touch or iPhone.
    More info at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1491?viewlocale=en_US
You may need to re-sync to re-upload the iTunes Store account info to the iPhone.

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Song not downloading properly?

I just downloaded a song from my MacBook Pro and I have the setting which allows my iPhone to automatically download any songs purchased from another apple device under my account. So my iPhone started downloading the song on its own, but the song froze and did not download all the way. Now the song apears in my iPhone music library with a download circle beside it, but it is not moving. I tried downloading the song by manually syncing my iPhone to my MacBook Pro, and I was able to recieve the song that way, but the version that was downloading through iCloud is still stuck in my iPhone music library. It does not play the song and I can't find a way to delete it off of my phone. Someone help me please!

Tap the Music icon in the Dock.
Select Songs from the menu at the bottom of the display.
Swipe across the song title. You should see a red Delete button.

  • Purchased songs not downloaded

I recently purchased an album on iTunes, but one of the tracks did not download.  None of the tracks on the album show up under "purchased."  How do I get the missing track?

More info on my first post:
The album show up under "Latest Purchases" when I log into my iTunes store account.  It lists all the tracks on the album. But the first track did not download at all.  It's not that it stops playing or goes silent.  It is simply not on my computer, and does not show up as available in iCloud.
I have cliced the "Report a Problem" link on the   Purchase History page, but that link is on the bottom of the screen, under "Previous Purchaes," not under "Latest Purchases," and nothing appears to happen when I click the button.
Has anyone else had, and resolved, this problem?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Delete songs not downloaded from store

deleting songs never downloaded from store (just listened to)?

Is there a question here I missed?
If they were not downloaded, how did you listen to them?
Previewing them in the iTunes store does not add them to your library.

  • Why is my 'purchased' song not downloading?

i keep getting a notice that i have 'one item available for download' and when i press the button, nothing happens...

It shows that it is downloading but it doesn't show up on my music library,  it shows under "not on tihsiiPad" list.  Then I choose the song to download, it goes through the download process without an error message but still doesn't show up on my music library.

  • HT201272 Songs not downloading properly.

I have several songs that i have purchased that have not downloaded properly. I only use one computer, so it is obviously authrorized. When I follow instructuions and go to my purchased songs to download them again, the button to the right I am not able to click on it.

You need to delete the songs from your library before you are able to redownload.
If you are still unable to redownload your purchases, then search your computer in case they are still present in the iTunes folder.

  • Songs not downloaded?

I purchased 2 albums. 1 was downloaded, the other only downloaded the  "booklet" that was an extra item. Both show up as purchased. How do I get the songs that were not downloaded?

Some people have reported that having iTunes Match on shows down the whole Add new music to my library wheter it is from the itunes store or CD. Turn this off, you can turn it on again afterwards. If your music does still not appear redownload it from the iTunes store by clicking on the Purchased link under Quick links on the right of the iTunes store home page and then you should be able to re-download at no extra cost.

  • Song not downloading in iTunes Store?

    Hi,
I downloaded an album but one song just won't download! Every time I try to download it I get an error message saying "unable to download song". I've tried to delete the song from downloads but it won't delete, I've restarted my phone, tried signing out and back in again, I've tried downloading from the album within music. Nothing seems to work!
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Josh

If you are in a country where repeat downloads are permitted try deleting it and downloading it again.  If you cannot download it again contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history or,
iTunes Customer Service Contact - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html > Get iTunes support via Express Lane > iTunes > iTunes Store

  • Songs not downloading properly in iTunes 11

Since upgrading to iTunes 11, all songs purchased from the iTunes Store download as "download.m4a" files inside a folder named after the song (the folder name ends in .tmp) in a folder called downloads in my iTunes folder in the Music folder. If I search my Purchased list affected songs do not appear. The workaround has been to import the genertically named file and then manualy rename it.

You are not alone, I'm getting the same issue. I find that when I purchase music, it downloads but does not appear in my library. The files have been downloaded to home > iTunes > iTunes Music > Downloads. But not then imported into the library.
The workaround I found was to go to itunes store, then go to "purchased" to see the items I'd purchased and download them again. The second time, the download would work. All rather annoying.
The problem has arisen since upgrading to iTunes 11.

  • Redeemed gift card songs not downloaded

I redeemed a gift card for 10 free songs from my local public radio station ( for dontating to the station).
At the beginning of the d/l I entered the wrong password for my account, and so, the songs ,I thought , were not dowqnloaded. Now I can't reenter the code on my free gift card. I get the message that this card has already been redeemed-though I have not received any of the songs.
On my recent purchases page all ten songs are listed but with the note of "report the problem"
umm simply, how do I report the problem? This is the only place I could find to even ask a q. Can you help?

Look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for purchases" command and run that. You may find the tracks there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store using the form at the bottom of the Download FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.
    Good luck.
