I am starting a Data Acquistition project using a PCI-6052e card with SCXI-1000 to a SCXI-1520 then out to 2 Chatillon load cells. I need to test parts off an assembly dial triggered by a PLC input via a SCXI-1180. Ultimatley, I need to store this data in our SQL Server and establish SPC trends and charts for viewing. Any advice on the best tools to use would be greatly appreciated - since I have extensive VB/SQL Server programming experience I am thinking that Measurement Studio and CW for VB would be a good fit.
You can do all of the Data Acquisition with the DAQ ActiveX controls in Visual Basic that come with the NI-DAQ driver software. You don't need Measurement Studio unless you need user interface T&M elements (graphs, knobs, LEDs, etc.), analysis libraries (signal processing, mathematics, etc.), or networking tools like DataSocket. There are many examples of programming DAQ with the ActiveX controls that will install with NI-DAQ if you install Visual Basic support.

WORKAROUND FOUND ! Download and install "Awesome Camera" app and take a picture with that app. After 1-2 seconds of standby, it will work. Then you can go back to default Camera app which would work again.Please let me know

Traffic shaping: Which is the best solution?
Hi! I'm running 3 computers on 1 d-link router, 2 of them has an archlinux installed. Wondershaper mostly works for me when the other computers has cfosspeed running on windows, but when both computers run archlinux and wshaper and p2p applications, ping is over 1000ms instead of 10-20ms.
Which is the best solution of traffic shaping on linux, and is there a howto for them (can be even a gentoo wiki page or similar)?
Edit: shorewall is not being built from yaourt (x86_64), can't find a usable manual for trickle and niceshaper, (even ubuntu forums has unreplied "threads" about it) and can't start them coz missing config files, it seems, noone cares about ACK priority and ping in the Linux world

The BEST solution for gmail on the iPhone
OK, so after much poking around, I finally figured out the best solution for using gmail on the iPhone: IMAP support.
While I think Google is still rolling this out to all users, once you get it, USE IT! It basically keeps your mail app synced with gmail, and even supports the use of folders/labels.
To see if your gmail account is ready for IMAP, go to the settings option in gmail and see if one of the tabs says "Forwarding and POP/IMAP." If you don't have IMAP available on your account yet, it won't say IMAP.

I hope this helps out everyone as much as it's helped me. I was a little frustrated before using POP, but gotta love IMAP! I'm not too sure the impact that this has on your battery life, but so far it's working well for me. Enjoy!Gmail and IMAP have totally change my tune about the iPhone's email abilities. I was getting frustrated with the inability to reliably get mail (Message has not been downloaded...), sync (have to delete mail from both iPhone and desktop Mac), etc., but now I have all my POP email accounts automatically forward to my Gmail account, and I only check Gmail with the iPhone and MacPro. So far, it's a whole new iPhone experience! No more errors - ALL mail comes through perfectly - and no need to manually sync!
Note that, when setting up the Gmail/IMAP accounts, do NOT simply update your old POP Gmail settings on your Mac or iPhone! Start with a FRESH new account. I couldn't get either the iPhone or Mac to work until I started with a fresh account.
Also, I was unable to send mail from the iPhone using the smtp.gmail address, so I had changed the outgoing mail setting to use my regular ISP's smtp address. But, at some point (a few minutes later or a few hours, I don't know) when I checked the Gmail settings on the iPhone, it had magically changed itself to smtp.gmail, with the port number, and it has been working perfectly ever since! Maybe IMAP can atomatically correct this info? Not sure.

Follow these directions exactly. This is a necessary set of steps in order to make your iPhone and Mac sync correctly, so that trashed mail on the iPhone will go in the trash on your desktop Mac, etc. It's pretty freaky to check email on the iPhone, and then go to your Mac Mail a few minutes later, and see all the newly trashed (or saved/read) emails perfectly synched up!
A final note. Once this is all working and synching, remember that if you delete an email on your iPhone, it gets deleted on the desktop Mac Mail as well (and vice-versa)... which is exactly what you want to happen, but I find that I have to remember to keep the mail that I want to save on the iPhone's inbox until I get back to my desktop Mac. Otherwise, I have to manually remove it from the trash to save it! -

Phile#3 is the most common scenario, but to BizTalk and your app, it doesn't matter.

Many times my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I have wireless internet (time capsule) and I am running a pretty powerful real time financial work program at same time, what is the best solution? Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.

What is the best solution to manage these devices for software updates, apps? This is probably a common problem with families wanting to share apps and music without realizing the issues created by this approach. As it stands today... the first (primary) iPhone associated with the iTune acct has been updated with the latest software version 5.1.1 and sync'd up with all the apps, music, etc from the one iTune acct, while the other two iPhones are still running on the original software version 4.0.2 and are experiencing problems now. I was advised by AT&T back in January that it would be necessary to setup separate iTunes accts for the second and third iPhones in order to receive system updates. The problem would be how to keep all the apps, etc from being deleted off the second and third phones that were originally loaded from the one iTunes acct. Since this AT&T advice was prior to iCloud coming out, would iCloud be a better solution or at least part of the solution? I really don't yet understand how iCloud works. You appear to have two issues: 1) a hard drive that is not working properly and 2) files you wish to recover.
Re 1) you need to answer Kappy's questions.
Re 2) does the drive load and can you see your photo files? If so can you copy them to another drive?

SQL Server 2012 - Wat Is The Best Solution For Creating a Read Only Replicated/AlwaysOn Database
Hi there I was wondering if someone may have a best recommendation for the following requirement I have with regards setting up a third database server for reporting?
Current Setup
SQL Server 2012 Enterprise setup at two sites (Site A & Site B).
Configured to use AlwaysOn Availability groups for HA and DR.
Installed on Windows 2012 Servers.
This is all working and failover works fine and no issues. So…
Requirement
A third server needs to be added for the purpose of reporting, to be located on another site (Site C) possibly in another domain. This server needs to have a replicated read only copy of the live database from site A or Site B, whichever is in use. The Site
C reporting database should be as up-to-date to the Site A or Site B database as possible – preferably within a few seconds anyway….
Solution - What I believe are available to me
I believe I can use AlwaysOn and create a ReadOnly replica for the Site C. If so do I assume Site C needs to have the Enterprise version of SQL server i.e. to match Site A & Site B?
Using log shipping which if I am correct means the Site C does not need to be an Enterprise version.
Any help on the best solution for this would be greatly appreciated.

Logshipping works --as long as the sql on site C is is same or higher version(sql 2012 or above). you can only do read only.
IMHo, if you can make site C in the same domain then, Always is better solution else log shipping
also, if your database has enterprise level features such as - partitonin, data compression -- you cannot restore the database on lower editions- so you need to have enterprise edition.

I cannot find the best way to format an external hard drive for MAC, PC, TV?

I have a problem: I want to use an external hard drive on my Mac as well as on a PC and a TV. The normal structure of Mac (Journaled) isn't supported by PC/ TV. I changed the structue into DOS(FAT) on my Mac. That's suppoerted by TV and PC. But I'll use the hard drive for storage of HD films so I'm afraid that the structure is not good enough for this (it seems old to me DOS.....) And I don't want the quality to be influenced by a bad structure.
Then I've formatted into NTFS on my PC, but then I cannot put files from Mac on the hard drive.
What is the best solution?

Regards, KimFAT works great, but the problem is that it's old and that you can't store files that are bigger than 4 GB. In this case, you have exFAT, a filesystem compatible with OS X and Windows, but I don't think that the TV will read it.
If you want to use NTFS, you need a third-party application to be able to write in it on OS X, like Paragon NTFS -

Most error messages relating to missing .dll files are due to virus scanners. The scanner removes the threat (the .dll file) but leaves the program behind that tries to invoke the .dll file. Your recipe of using System Restore to fix the problem could well
backfire: It might restore the infected .dll file! This is why it is important to know the full wording of the error message. If the missing file resided in the System32 folder then it's probably OK to restore it. If it resided elsewhere then restoration would
probably be a bad idea. -
Adobe Acrobat the Best Solution?
I've never used Adobe Acrobat for anything other than reading PDF files and new to Macs.
I have a training records for work that I want to go from filling out every week in a binder to the computer. I want to either scan the current form into my MBP (I have a HP 2410 PSC but can't scan through the Airport) and set it up so I can fill out the form every week and save them on he hard drive.
OR I can create a whole new document but again I need to be able to have fields that I can just fill in every week.
With the finished product I would like to be able to fill out the form but not be able to change the form itself. (I hope this makes sense)
Would Acrobat be the best product to use to create this or is there another better product out there for the Mac?Numbers and Excel are spreadsheet programs, not database programs. Depending on how simple your needs are, however, either may provide a solution.
There is also Bento, a very inexpensive database program from Filemaker. There is a free demo, and this may prove a good solution.
If you already have Adobe Acrobat, it does offer forms functions and would save you from having to but additional software. I have never used the forms functions for actual production (just played around with it). However, you can set up a form, have check boxes, radio buttons, text fields, etc. and then have the entered results saved and/or output for further manipulation.
Acrobat might prove the best solution for what you are trying to do.
