Finding the location of VI running ----dynamically

Hi evryone,
I am planning to use a single VI in main step and post-step actions. Part of this VI behaves differently based on whether we are in main step or post-step action. But the problem is finding the location..where we are???? main step? or post-step action?........How to find this dynamically??? Any idea????
Thanks in advance..........

Hi Raj,
Yes, I am calling the same VI as code module in action step and post-step substep also.
I am testing a printer firmware, so I will not be transmitting the graphics in main step. If the result of main step is FAIL, I will be running the post-step action with the same VI, there we send some extra commands to transmit graphics, we capture graphics and we convert them into PNG image file for debugging purpose, so that we actually know what it was printing.
We can do this with 2 separate VIs, but lot of other actions are common in these VIs except sending and extra command and reading more data from printer. So i am planning to have single with case statement inside that VI to do different actions based on the location this VI called as module.

  • Find the location where forms is installed

    I want to run a report directly from form without showing
    parameter form. For this i use
    HOST('c:\orawin95\bin\r22run32.exe report = path of report
    userid = ' || get_application_property(username) || '/' ||
    get_application_property(password) ||'/'||
    get_application_property(connect_string) || 'parameter = YES
    destype = PRINTER batch = yes background = yes')
    Here I have a problem to find the location (ie c:\ or d:\ ..)
    where the forms is installed.
    Pls reply ,if anybody the solution.

    Why you don't use RUN_PRODUCT or RUN_REPORT_OBJECT function ?
    With RUN_PRODUCT or RUN_REPORT_OBJECT, forms will find where is
    report.
    Examples for RUN_REPORT_OBJECT:
    DECLARE
         repid REPORT_OBJECT;
         v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
         rep_status varchar2(20);
    BEGIN
         repid := find_report_object('report4');
         v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    END;
    or example for RUN_PRODUCT :
    PROCEDURE Run_Emp_Report IS
    pl_id ParamList;
    BEGIN
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    END IF;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'EMP_QUERY',DATA_PARAMETER,'EMP_RECS');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'NO');
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'empreport', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,
    FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
    END;

    Just yesterday I downloaded the newest update for iTunes, a few days before doing this I purchased music, but after doing the update my songs will not play. It shows a message that says this file cannot be located, what can I do to find the location?

    The path C:\users\owner\appdata\local\apple\apple software update\bonjour64.msi cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package "bonjour64.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product bonjour.
    Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on 25 June 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
    After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • In Mountain Lion, how do I find the location of an open Preview File?  The file "properties" tab is no longer available.

    I typically have several open Preview files at any one time and often forget where, sometimes if, I saved them.  In Mountain Lion, how do I find the location of an open Preview File?  Tried holding option + command in spotlight but I don't see a path name appear anywhere.

    Yes, cmd-option on a file you choose in Spotlight and the path will appear at the bottom of the Preview window.
    EDIT: Also, if it is bookmarked the path is in Bookmarks.

  • How can I find the location of an app on my iPad 2?

    How can I find the location of an app on my iPad 2? The app comes up with a search, but that seems to be the only way to find it. I just installed the app today, but I can't figure out where it is. It has a pretty distinctive icon, and I've looked through all of my apps and even in folders (even though I don't know how it would have gotten there). I want to put it in an appropriate folder under the right subject, but I can't find it to do this. I can use the app, since I can find it through a search though. I have a lot of apps, but I looked very carefully and can't find it. Is there a way to ask my iPad to locate it for me? It's a $25 app and one I plan to use regularly, so I want it located in the folder of my choice.This problem makes we wonder if I have other "missing" apps, apps that I could  find if I happened to think to search for them, but that don't appear to be on my iPad (even though they actually  are).

    You were right about the homescreens. I had turned my iPad off for the night with less than three full homescreens of loose apps, those not in folders. When I turned the iPad on this morning to try your suggestions, I had five full pages of loose apps. They just appeared when I restarted, and there was the app I was looking for, easy to find. Last night I was deleting apps I decided I wouldn't use, organizing useful apps into folders, and making sure I had as few pages as needed by making sure the gaps made by the moved/deleted apps were closed. The missing apps didn't show up at that point; I was just left with fewer than 11 pages. The apps only showed up when I restarted this morning. There were almost three extra pages of apps that weren't there last night. I know there must be other things missing, since all of the pages are full. So I tried your suggestion in iTunes. I connected my iPad, found an app in the alphabetical list on the left, and double clicked it. This brought me to the app's homescreen (and its home folder when applicable), the place where it was located. In order to identify which page that was, I had to scroll through the screen shots of the homescreens that was below the homescreen that was showing until I found the homescreen whose number was in white. Then I could count the pages on my iPad until I got to that page. I'll have to delete more apps and organize more into folders to see what else might show up. There are just too many apps available for special education, and I'm in the process of figuring out which are the best for my needs. Thanks so much!

  • How do I use Spotlight to find the location of a document?

    Spotlight used to show the location of document when I hovered the mouse over an item in its list. It no longer does this. Now it tells me that a document exists and allows me to open the document, but doesn't tell me where to find the document. How do I use Spotlight to find the location of a document?

    Hi Thomas ...
    Open System Preferences > Spotlight then select the Search Results tab.
    Select the all the categories for the search results you want.
    Restart your Mac.
    If that didn't help the Spotlight preferences may be corrupted.
    Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences
    Move the com.apple.spotlight.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Try Spotlight.

    How can I find the location of the signature used in the Adobe Reader signature feature? I've been using the signature feature for a while now and it works great and I'd like to use it on another computer. However, I forgot where I stored the signature. Adobe finds it with no problems (the signature pops up when I click "Place Signature"), but I have no idea where it is.

    Hello,
    It's here - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security\

    Also if i cant locate them can i at least remotely delete the libraries, and lock them so they are unusable to the thiefs, and i had a sony laptop worth £2000 stolen which I had used my apple account for a year is there anyway i can track that or retrieve the contents and delete them?
    Please if anybody knows reply or contact me!!!! =-)
    many thanks

    You or Apple can do nothing to prevent use of the devices.
    For the iPod touch if you turned on the FindMyiPod feature and wifi is on and connected yu may be ablt ot locate it and wipe it by going to iCloud, signing in and going to FindMyiPhone. However, if the iPOd is rectored that feature is deleted.
    Report to police and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod.

    Hi, my Iphone was stolen 2 days ago, I have the voxer installed on it, is it possible to find the location of my phone?

    What is the "Voxer"?
    If you set up the find my iphone feature on the iphone itself and it is on and it has not been restored, then you may be able to locate using icloud.com.
    Otherwise, it cannot be tracked.

  • How to find the location of a particular font in the framemaker book?

    Hi All,
    please help me in finding the location of a particular type of font in the framemaker book. I was using the following procedure to find out earlier:
    Find > Character Format > (set the character format) > Search.
    Now I am unable to locate a particular type of font using the mentioned procedure.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in adnavce,
    Mindevil

    This assumes that the font instance being searched for is an override:
    Click in some text in one of the book files.
    Edit > Find/Change
    [ Character Format ...]
    This pops up a Character Format dialog.
    Assuming you are on Windows:
    [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[F8] to set everything to As-Is/blank.
    In Family:, select the font being sought. [Set]
    Back in the Find dialog...
    Look in: <*> Book
    [Find]
    If the font instance is part of a Paragraph Format or Character Format, you can search by Para Tag name or Char Tag name (which is yet another reason why overrides are a problem).
    Or you can save out all the book files as MIF and search with a plaintext editor, but that requires a nominal knowledge of MIF.
    I might add that steps 1-3 above are covered in FM7.1 Help (and presumably the printed manual back then), but are absent for FM9, and I'm guessing that they never returned in later versions either.

  • Where can i find the location to download ps 5 on my new computer?

    where can i find the location to download my ps 5 on my new computer?

    If you really do mean Photoshop 5, you are not likely to find a download resource for it if you don't have the disks - it is old.
    If you happen to mean Photoshop CS5 you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
    Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

    I cannot play my rented movie because itunes cannot locate where the original file, has anyone face this problem before? Where can I find the location of the downloaded movie?

    What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
    If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
    If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies.
