Fine-tuning using a glossary

Hello,
Please clarify if a relatively small glossary can be used to "hard-wire" or "lock in" some proper names and fixed constructions in the trained engine. As I understand, this can be done after cloning and launching a training with the glossary
included in the training data set.
I think I saw a post somewhere on the MS website saying this should be in Excel with specific row headings, but I cannot locate that source now. Please provide a link explaining the procedure and the format for that glossary in detail.
Many thanks in advance,
Sergei

Hi Sergei,
the use of the dictionary is described in the Hub user guide
https://hub.microsofttranslator.com/Help/Download/Microsoft%20Translator%20Hub%20User%20Guide.pdf in section 3.3.2. The section that is relevant to your question:
To use a dictionary, follow the steps listed here.
1. Create a dictionary of terms using Microsoft Excel.
a. Create an Excel file. In this release, Hub supports only “.xlsx” files created using Excel 2007 and later. This file contains a list of source-language terms and a list of corresponding target-language equivalents in the first sheet of the Workbook. Other
sheets in the workbook will be ignored.
b. In cell A1 of the first sheet, enter the 3 letter or 2 letter ISO language code for the source language (eg: “enu” or “en” for English)
c. In cell B1 of the first sheet, enter the 3 letter or 2 letter ISO language code for the target language (eg: “esn” or “ es” for Spanish)
d. Enter the source language terms in Column A, and the equivalent translations for these terms in the target Language in Column B. HTML tags in the dictionary will be ignored. The image below shows an Excel file containing a dictionary of terms mapped from
English to Spanish.
Please consider the warnings around the use of a dictionary that are listed in the user guide. It is always better to teach the system with actual prose than with dictionaries. Use dictionaries only if and only as long as you do not have actual prose
to show your preferred terminology.

  • Using mouse to make fine tuning adjustment

I have just installed Ligthroom 2.5 upgraded from Ligthroom 1.4; it appears that I can not longer make fine tuning of the ajustment using the mouse wheel but I am stock to move the slides by dragging them with the mouse or entering a value...
is the mouse wheel capacity to make adjustement discontinued with Ligthroom 2.5; if not, how do I got about using the mouse wheel?
    Thanks,

Thank you very much for the clear answers.
Message for the adobe people, this is a major functionality lost (for an upgraded product) when ajusting for hundreds of picture this increase the time to make all the adjustment by many folds (which is my case). It would be worth investing time to fix the problem instead of removing a very important and useful fonctionality.
Can anyone provide the specification for the mouse that would support such functionality as indicated by Ian?
    Thanks

  • Fixing Radio: Fine tuning songs (Hits, Variety or Discovery Mode)

Our radio has always been weird, you never know what songs it plays, and it always REPEATS THE SAME GOD darn SONG over the past hour.
    It's time to fix it.
If you've tried, or at least clicked into an app of a competing service, this is how it looks like:
You can kinda tune the station to WHAT YOU LIKE, for eg, Hits, Variety, or Discovery and the radio will adapt what you want to hear.
Here's another example (A not very solid example though):
As you may know, Echo Nest is now a Spotify company, anyway, this shows the radio where you can slide to whether artist only or discovery in general (This might not be a good example, as if I just wanted to listen to the artist, I would've just went into the artist page and click on Shuffle Play.)
    Here's another example:
This is a relatively new music service, but if you've tried its radio, you wil find out that its really really spectacular. You can tell the service what is your mood and it plays songs based on that, but if that's not enough. It actually has brand new algorithms that is built just for this, I read somewhere that it even monitors your location, the songs you play in that location/event, the volume the song is playing and when you hit the radio mode, it will analyze all of this algorithms and play based on that.
So the radio needs improvements in its really bad algorithms and a fine tuning option.
PS: If you go the comments section of this idea, in page 2,  bought up a really good visual of a competing music service vs Spotify when using the radio, if you've time you should take a look and if possible share more of the problems that you face with Spotify Radio.

"Improving Station" is a joke.  I have a station based on Laura Nyro.  I keep getting the same very popular Nyro songs (but even that rarely) and some other 60s, 70s, 80s female vocalists.  Nothing newer.  I also get a ton of stuff nothing like Nyro, including male vocalists and male bands.  How many times do I reject anything of Elvis Costello before you stop playing it?  Same for many other artists.  You really need to track that if someone has rejected every one of an artist, quit playing that artist. Or, better, provide as has been suggested elsewhere here, a button "reject artist."  I've nothing against Costello, or Lightfoot, or the Doobies, or Bread, or many of the artists you put forth on my Nyro station.  I just don't want anything besides lilting female vocalists on my Nyro station.  (As well as much more Nyro.) Your learning algorithms are a joke, song by song is useless-- I have to come running back to the computer to keep rejecting stuff, even though I've been trying to "improve" the station for weeks.

  • Configurable Code-list not Extendable in Fine-Tuning.

    Hi
I am facing some problems while changing the values in Code-list while using fine tuning process in Configuration. I have created three code-lists and then being added to configuration using BAC.
In this BAC I have created one business Topic and three separate business options. Each business option is linked with each bcc (business Configuration Set).
Now when I go to and “Edit project scope” I am able to get the code list on my UI using extension fields and values are there too. But the problem I am facing is that in “Open Activity list” when I open the Business Options NOT all the options are opening properly.
Although I have got some of them opening fine and let me make changes while others are showing errors.
    Any Advice Please.
    Many thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Asad

Yes i have regenerated now and still the same problem is there.
Yes the flag has been selected in the BC SET.
in Fine tuning there is slight difference in BOTH BC views.
One with normal behavior only shows the code in code list while the one with Issues/Problems is showing code & Description in same CODE column while some Times it does show only code though??
    Any guess here?

  • Fine-Tuned Control: Purchase Order

    Hello
When I make : SPRO -> Material Management-> Purchasing -> Message -> Output Control->Message Types->Define message type for purchase order->Fine-Tuned Control: Purchase Order
What means the  U=>Update print-dependent data
Somebody could tell when I can use it, and tell me the impact of this.
Thanck you very much for your help.

    Hi,
If you select this indicator "Update print-dependent data" under Fine-Tuned Control option then in PO, if you click on "Print Preview" button then system will not show the pop-up screen (which contains all the print parameters, default printer, Logical destination, etc...). And system will consider the output type as default for print preview for which "Update print-dependent data" is marked.

  • Raw Fine Tuning 2.0 not available?

I'm using the Trial version of Aperture 2.1.2 and tried editing FujiFilm FinePix S2 Pro raw images. For Raw Fine Tuning, only versions 1.0 and 1.1 could be selected (and thus sliders such as "Recovery" are unavailable). I did a Software Update (which installed Raw Converter 2.5), and I restarted my system. No apparent change: only 1.0 and 1.1 are the choices.
Does this mean that Raw Fine Tuning 2.0 is not available for FinePix S2 Pro raw images?

    Perhaps...
I can understand if Apple chooses not to support or to discontinue support for a particular image type, especially given the Fuji circumstances. And I appreciate the ability to do a 30-day free trial. I guess where I got a little irked is that I had to spend time troubleshooting a problem I thought should have been documented (it is not a bug; it was a decision that affects the availability of product features).
    Thanks for the replies, Brian.

  • Latest batch of RAW files has all the raw fine tuning options greyed out

I shoot about 1000 images a week with my 40d and edit/organize all of them in Aperture... the latest batch (a pretty important batch at that) of 800 or so imported fine but does not allow me to use the 'Raw Fine Tuning' options as if they are JPGs. I can still go to the images i imported last week and the RAW fine tuning works fine, even some in the same album... any ideas?
    Aperture 1.5.6

    more informaion:
today's images imported fine, so you can rule out the security patch.
even more peculiar i exported some of the images, and imported the same masters back in and much to my suprise the RAW fine tuning works. I rebuilt the library hoping that would help but it didn't, I'm just going to go back through the library and re-tag and rate my picks from the shoot, but any idea on how to keep this from happening again? it has to be some wacky setting or something, I can export the broken image and the import it again and it works fine.
    any help would be appreciated

  • RAW Fine tuning

The RAW Fine tuning options are not showing up in my adjustments hud. I have Aperture 1.5.6. I can't find a way to add this to my adjustments hud. How can I add this?

What camera are you using? I don't think that Aperture supports raw fine tuning for every camera—only those with optimized support.

  • Fine tuning with 3D roatation tool?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if there is (and I feel there HAS to be) a way to fine tune movements with the 3D rotation tool. Using the mouse works to an extent, but just like nudging movements with the arrow keys, it's sometimes impossible to get the placement I want with mouse dragging. I'm pretty new to using these tools so maybe it's super obvious and I'm missing it?
    Thanks!

Use the Motion Editor to do some great fine tuning. You can adjust each property separately and it will give you much better control.

  • Customising the RAW fine tuning as default for importing. In Aperture 3

    RAW Fine Tuning.
    I use a Canon G11 PowerShot camera.
I’m being unsuccessful customising the RAW fine tuning as default for importing new files, so each new RAW file imported come into Aperture 3 with the changes from the Apple default.
All I want to do is: reduct the boost from 1.0 to 0.5 and Hue Boost from 1.0 to 0.5.
I made the said changes by moving the sliders.
Then from the cog wheel (in RAW fine tuning) click on save as preset ( give it a name )
I now see it in the list , I click on it - click save as camera default - it now say camera default next to my custom settings.
However when I import new RAW files into Aperture 3, it imports the file with the Apple settings not my custom settings that are marked with camera default.
NB, I had not problem changing the above in Aperture 2 - I have done it before and I believe I have gone through the procedure correctly
    Can anyone please help
    Thanks Martin

    Hi Matthew
What I'm doing is: setting the RAW fine tuning camera default ( to my custom settings) , so all new files being imported into Aperture 3 will take my custom settings as they are imported into Aperture 3.
I did this will Aperture 2 without any trouble . now I have upgraded to Aperture 3 the RAW fine tuning camera default is Apples and I have to change it from Apples to my custom preset.
It shows I have changed the RAW camera default to my custom settings in the drop down list but when I import files - they take the Apple preset not my custom settings ? ?

  • Noise reduction - RAW fine tuning and the Noise Reduction tool

    Hi,
1- If I get it right, Aperture's RAW fine tuning "Automatic noise compensation" (translated from French) option uses the camera's information to adjust the noise. Is that correct?
2- The Noise Reduction tool is there to provide additional noise reduction, but this makes you lose some details. Is that correct?
3- How do you use them? I often find the Noise Reduction tool a bit overkill, but that's me.
4- This one is just out of curiosity. How does A3 compare to LR3 beta for you in that regard? In my testing, LR3 did a slightly better job (but A3 totally beats the crap out of LR2 for noise). BUT I have an old D50, and newer cameras handle noise better (especially Nikon), so does it really make a difference for a 2008 or newer camera?
    Thanks!

I don't even have this option/checkbox in my Raw Fine Tuning brick.
I wonder if it's due to the type of files (Canon 7D). Do you still have those 7D files I sent you? Does the checkbox appear in Raw Fine Tuning for you with them?
I noticed this option in the manual the other day, but forgot about it until now.
True, it doesn't have the checkbox with the 7D files. However, it as a slider "noise suppression" (again translated) in the RAW fine tuning options (and still has the Noise suppression brick).
If you don't have this one too, have you reprocessed your images with Aperture 3? Since it has a new raw engine, it may be the cause of it.
I find it strange that Apple didn't tout the new RAW engine on Aperture 3 new feature, it clearly is an improvement over Digital Camera RAW 2, especially in noise suppression.
I agree the built-in noise suppression is much better than A2, but IMHO it pales in comparison with the Noise Ninja plugin from Picturecode. The key is that you calibrate a profile for Noise Ninja by shooting a color chart full screen on your computer at varying iso settings with each of your cameras. You then feed the images back in to Aperture, and tell Noise Ninja to create a noise profile for each setting. The results are amazingly good.
Now with a lot of new cameras, noise processing is getting less important because the high iso performance is so good....but this is what makes Noise Ninja special...even when the noise adjustment is subtle, because it is working from a profile created with your camera, at the iso the shot was made at, its effects are seamless. They just announced a 64 bit plugin for Aperture 3, so no bouncing into 32 like other plugins at the moment...

    K.J. Doyle

  • Fine Tuning REPORT

    Hi,
I want to know about fine tuning a report. One way, I know is to break the query which extracts data from different tables separately and finally joining it using FOR ALL ENTRIES.  What are the different methods to fine tune a report.
    Please reply with suitabe answers.

    Hi
    see this
    1) Dont use nested select statements
    2) If possible use for all entries in addition
    3) In the where addition make sure you give all the primary key
    4) Use Index for the selection criteria.
    5) You can also use inner joins
    6) You can try to put the data from the first select statement into an Itab and then in order to select the data from the second table use for all entries in.
    7) Use the runtime analysis SE30 and SQL Trace (ST05) to identify the performance and also to identify where the load is heavy, so that you can change the code accordingly

  • Understanding Aperture's RAW fine tuning ?

    Dear Aperture Experts,
I have been trying to familiarize myself with the RAW fine tuning brick for a while based on both the manual and internet research. However, I feel I still do not sufficiently understand its functioning and even have more questions now. I have grouped them in two categories below and would very much appreciate any skilled comments.
I use Aperture 3.4.4 under OS 10.8.3 with Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.05.
    Many thanks in advance !
    Philippe
    A) Overall usage of the RAW fine tuning brick
Under which circumstances do you tweak Apple's default settings at all? I have seen people advocating they never ever change anything here stating it would be almost impossible to achieve any better result compared with the default, whereas others claim the very first thing they do for each and every picture is adjusting the raw decoding parameters, this being the whole gist of using a RAW workflow.
It appears that except for the moiré/radius settings there are adjustment bricks that can achieve similar processing as the  other RAW fine tuning parameters. Under which circumstances would it then be preferable to use the RAW parameters rather then a corresponding adjustment?
Apple's default decoding settings are dynamic in the sense that its not just a fixed set of parameters applied to every image. Rather, I could observe that at least two different De-noise settings are applied (with my Canon EOS 7D) depending on the ISO speed: 0 up to ISO 1600 and 0.1 for 3200 and higher ISO speeds. 2a) Are there other parameters that are dynamically changed according to image properties?  2b) Is there a way to keep this dynamic behavior in self-defined presets for parameters that have not been touched, e.g. keeping ISO depending de-noise while using a lower hue boost value? Note that on the opposite it appears impossible to save a preset without changing at least one parameter from the Apple default. This means that you cannot automatically (e.g. at import) apply a static (rather than dynamically changing e.g. according to ISO) set of parameters being identical Apples's default. Strange.
Is there a way to automatically apply different sets of RAW fine tuning presets according to image properties at import time? I know there is the possibility to trigger an applescript subsequent to an import process. Based on this I understand  one could apply different adjustment presets therein, but I don't think this applies to RAW decoding presets as well.
    B) Individual RAW fine tuning parameters
I think I understand boost/hue boost. No question here
At first glance, sharpening is clear as well. However, I do not really understand how this parameter interrelates with the  associated details slider (which used to be an "edge" slider in previous versions, suggesting a different function). When should I tweak one rather then the other? It appears that for my camera those two parameters are always set to 0 in Apple's default. I cannot believe no sharpening is required at all.
I understand that moiré/radius work together, but do they interact with De-noise (which is located in the same section), or is the latter independent from the former pair?
Can the moiré parameter pair be used to reduce chroma noise? I did not succeed at it, the only effect I observed was a hue change in some areas. Does it mean this slider (pair) is restricted to eliminating color fringes along edges in repeating small sized patterns?

That's true, because i've exported the images from my Aperture Library to my desktop (original JPEG settings from Aperture), and at that time i maked the snapshot of the EXIF, but here is the EXIF FROM APERTURE::
    http://www.ldbproduction.nl/EXIF_Aperture.jpg
There are what changes in the RAW and JPEG:
So is the pixel size different, the color Depth by JPG is 8 bit and by the CR2(RAW) file is it 16 bit.
And the most stranged thing i see now is that the JPG version is using the sRGB-profile and the RAW used the Adobe RGB (1998), i realy don't know how to handle that in the camera! There is only one choice to make.

  • Aperture 3.1.2 Raw fine tuning

Started to use manual control on my canon 60D.  After importing the RAW files into aperture 3.1.2, the RAW fine tuning controls (except for boost and hue boost) are greyed out and not selectable.  Is this normal?  The controls work fine with other settings on the camera (Av, Tv, etc.).  Thanks!

Actually, looks like the sliders are greyed out on all settings, manual, Av, and Tv??  This just happened recently and I don't think there was an update.  I rebuilt the database already.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Raw fine tuning not working in slideshows

    Hi,
Does anyone know why when I adjust the de-noise level of an image in Raw Fine Tuning and then use that image in a slideshow why the adjustment is not applied to the image shown in the slideshow?
I've tried regenerating the preview but it didn't make any difference.
    Thanks
    Ian

I think I've fixed my own problem - I changed the preview quality setting and it's OK now.
