Finger mayhem
I have a HP Pavilion DV7-2126oe and have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home premium Bit.
Now I have several problems that i have been unable to fix. One is the finger Print reader not being recognised. Also any wireless mice i use whether it be a microsoft or logitec one doesnt work. The computer doesnt even recognise when i have put their respective dongles in the usb ports.
On the device manager list i have two unknown devices on my USB controllers branch. both have a device status with a code 43 error.
I have tried the trouble shooting route to no avail, and have tried reinstalling all drivers for my laptop from the hp site. The Hp udates didnt do anything either. The only thing that fixed it was a clean windows 7 install, then a week later the problem pops up again. From what i can see no windows update is responsible.
I can't even use the touchpad and type without the cursor jumping all over the screen, so i haven't being using my laptop much.
If anyone can help i will be eternally grateful.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

No two-finger swipe for month, year, day in iCal
I can't use a two-finger swipe to switch forward or back in iCal in day, month, or year view, only week. How can I get it to do this in the other views?

System Preferences...>Mouse>More Gestures will influence your "two-finger" swipe choices. If you have a Trackpad, choose that instead of Mouse in System Preferences.
Swiping is only available in the Calendar Day/Week views. Monthly changes are made by scrolling, and Year view is changed by clicking on the < > arrows surrounding the word "Today" on the top left side of the Year window. -
My finger print scanner for logging on to web pages no longer works in firefox 4
My laptop has a finger print scanner that manages passwords. You scan your finger to log on to various pages or accounts instead of typing in the log in information. It worked flawlessly in the older version of Firefox, but since upgrading to Firefox 4 it no longer works. I checked and it still works with Windows.
Is the a Digital Persona fingerprint scanner, also used in teh HP SimplePass Identity Manager? If do the company that make the bioscanner have abandoned it. For more details see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799388

HP Pavilion M7 Finger Print Reader Not Working
Hi,
I recently purchased an HP Paviolion M7.
I put an OCZ SSD in, and ended up doing a fresh install using non-HP Windows 7 (64). Using the HP Recovery Tools is simply not an option (believe me I tried).
I have everything working now, except for the Finger Print Reader. I have tried everything I can think of and could find.
I am using all the drivers/software from:

Any ideas?I am sure they are the correct drivers, they worked with the system when it was an "HP" version of Windows.

Download a piece of software called TinkerTool - that might just solve your problem. I have used it myself to change the system fonts on my iMac. It is software and not an app.

Some times when I press the home button to read my finger the screen becomes black and it shows the Apple logo, this take a few seconds to get back the screen and this has been happening even 3 or 4 times in a row!
What should I do?Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I work on dual screens on a new mac pro but when I do the 4 finger swipe it moves both screens, is there a way to move just the screen that is active?
Multiple desktops and dual screens really aren't meant to work together. Apple came up with this multiple desltops feature and never really thought about users that use a dual monitor setup. So use either multiple desktops OR dual monitors but not both. Also don't try to use any App in Full Screen Mode as that doesn't work with dual screen setups either.

You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.

I recently dropped my Iphone 4s 32gig phone on the ground and the screen did not crack or anything. When i tried to slide to unlock it, nothing happened. It woudn't read my finger at all and the phone seemed fully functional (meaning i could click the unlock and lock buttons and home buttons and it all worked fine, it just seemed like the sensor was not reading my finger). So i figured it was a problem with the LCD screen so i purchased a new one and installed it correctly, and nothing happened. Something else is wrong with my iphone and i have no clue what to do. Can anyone help me?
If you are saying you have repaired the iPhone by replacing parts then you have voided any warranty ,if relevant and any other further support from Apple .
Apple do not sell spare parts so who knows what you have done to the iPhone but nothing that Apple will now help with -
Zoom the screen with ctrl 2-Finger Swipe not working in Mavericks
I just bought a new Macbook Air for my wife (running Mavericks) and can't figure out why the Zoom the screen with ctrl 2-Finger Swipe is not working.
I can't find the setting anywhere.
I looked on my Macbook Pro running Mavericks (on which the zoom still works), but I cannot find the setting on that computer either.
Please help.
ThanksSystem Preferences---> Accessibility---> Zoom---> Use scroll gesture with modifier key to zoom. Select ctrl in the drop down menu.
It's a feature not normally turned on, so you might of had it turned on on your Mac before upgrading to Mavericks. And it just kept the setting.

ipone 4s display suddenly doesn't work any more. most of the time i can't even unlock my iphone as it puts the numbers itself. and if i am lucky to unlock it opens apps and does everything else whenever my finger comes near the display without even touching it. I did reset and also updated my operating system. But the problem stills shows up... can anyone help please?

Hi Thanks for 4.0. It runs much faster on my Mac, however, it no longer works to zoom in all of my web pages. I use to be able to use my finger pad to increase the size of all of all pages.

It's a Magic Mouse question. I have set this up in Preferences by ticking Swipe between pages with one finger and also Swipe between full-screen apps with two fingers, however when I try to do the latter, the 2 finger swipe will take me from the app that I am on to the dashboard only and not to my other open apps.
I also find that Smart zoom only works with some apps, for instance not with Word docs or email.
How can I correct this please?Just figured out it also does not work with the Mail app.

Is there a way to "calibrate" the magic mouse? Batteries are good. I have rearranged settings for mouse, air-cleaned, tried different surfaces, however, it seems to be misinterpreting finger movements and randomly trying to open launchpad when enabled-flashing between the app I am in and launchpad. When right-click is enabled I have to go to the extreme upper left of mousepad to click or it is interpreted as right-click. Won't consistently "scroll". Suggestions?
