Finger on magic mouse moving up causes the screen to move down on lion, was okay before on snow leopard

magic mouse commands changed from S Leopard to Lion,  why?, and how can I fix.  Ex. finger movement is now opposite the command on screen

Barry gave you the solution.
There is also a little tool called Scroll Reverser (now V1.4.2) that you can use (it gives a bit more control on scrolling left-right etc also):

  • Magic Mouse jumps all over the screen

    *Magic Mouse is on Drugs*
OK so first, let me say that generally speaking i love my mac. There was a time in the 90's when i was a big Apple fan, but after a few dumb@ss business decisions by Apple, i decided to convert to Windoze (and my entire company at that) So here we are a decade later; and I'm back on a mac again.
Recently my MagicMouse started spazzing out. Randomly jumping to new points on the screen. At first it was mildly annoying. Now it's infuriating. I used Camtasia to record this behavior:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX8ApUH6QOw
I called Apple to discuss this. First, they said "they weren't aware of any issues" A quick google of "MagicMouse Jumps" returned hundreds upon hundreds of links (including this forum) describing the issue.
Second, after assuring Apple this really was a problem, i got the ultimate insult. "If you would like to lodge a technical support ticket, we will need your credit card. This call will cost you $150.00."
You see, I bought this thing four months ago. Apparently you only get a 90 day free call period. After that you're warranty is actually a cost per call scenario.....
So -- While i love my mac, i'm of the distinct impression i've made the wrong choice. The only good news is I've now decided not to convert the rest of our 20 workstations in my business back to Mac....
Apart from my b*tching, has anyone actually solved this problem that according Apple, doesn't exist?
Oh by the way --- plugged in a USB laser mouse, problem does not occur with that device -- tried on all sorts of surfaces; mouse pads, no mouse pads, black paper, white paper, patterned, non patterned, special optical mouse pad for laser mice.... SAME results no matter what the surface is, and YES, i've also cleaned the optics with a lens cloth..... (And the battery is currently at 88%)

    Hello g:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I suspect a faulty mouse. However, try two things first. Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart. Reset the PRAM:

There is no Apple charge for a warranty issue and the mouse has a one year warranty. Call Applecare back (or take it to a store if they have one close to you). Unless I am badly mistaken, Apple will replace the mouse and pay for shipping both ways (I had one fail a couple of years ago myself). Do identify the call as a warranty issue.

  • Can the Magic Mouse be paired with the original iPad?

Can the Magic Mouse be paired with the original iPad ?

No, neither the first nor the second gen iPad supports a mouse - there is no cursor for a mouse to control, all you have on the iPad is an insertion point when entering or amending text

  • Magic mouse lagging on 40 inch screen

I have a 2.26GHZ Core 2 duo late 2009 Mac mini hooked up to a samsung led 40 inch disply with this cord.
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=11215&cs_id=1024603 &p_id=9475&seq=1&format=2
The resolution is suprisingly good, the only problem i am having is that my magic mouse is lagging to the point where it is more than slightly annoying.  I have the sensitivity set to just about the most sensitive setting but it doesnt seem to really make a difference.  Should i replace the graphics card? if so how would i go about doing that?

The problem with the Mac Pro and the Magic Mouse is infamous. The accepted, actual problem is that the bluetooth antenna, labeled "BT" on the bluetooth card is NOT an antenna, is mislabeled, and was installed by people who do NOT speak English, thus the label could be "Fire Hazard" and it would be placed anyway.
I have gone many rounds with this problem. If you have an airport card in your Mac Pro next to the Bluetooth Card, then, there is a fix by swapping wires which can be found all over the Internet.
You can also add a WiFi antenna to the Mac and wire it to the Bluetooth card. There are instructions for THIS also on the Internet.
Second, you can get an external Bluetooth USB dongle, and use that. Unfortunately, on all Mac OSX versions prior to 10.6, the dongle will compete with the internal Bluetooth, generally canceling bluetooth function altogether.
On my Mac Pro, under 10.5.8, with no airport card, there is no easy access to the spare WiFi antenna, and so, my fix was to simply, and carefully, unplug the bluetooth antenna from the bluetooth card, unscrew the two screws HOLDING the bluetooth card, and, again, gently unplugging the bluetooth card from its motherboard socket. It now resides in a drawer.
Initially, my external bluetooth dongle (Zoom 4314), while supplying Bluetooth, could NOT connect to my MagicMouse with hours of trying EVERYTHING. Oddly, it took the system, which is NEVER turned off (much easier on the internal RAID), an overnight "pondering" to allow my dongle to supply functional bluetooth. In other words, after a night of massive frustration, all is well in the morning and the MagicMouse is not the best thing since sliced bread. It's BETTER than sliced bread.
All that said... apparently, MacOS 10.6 actually disables the internal bluetooth card when an external Bluetooth dongle is attached. Bravo.

  • Edit Object then saving back causes the object to move??

    Hi,
I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.6 updated today. When editing PDF documents by right clicking then selecting "Edit Object", I get my usual Illustrator window pop up, change my colour or whatever, Save, back to Acrobat, and the object in question moves! This has only started happening recently and I have been using Acrobat daily in my job, as a PrePress operative, since Acrobat 7 Professional and never had this issue.
Please advise what is causing the object to move?! I have re-installed Acrobat today and re-updated and no change. I also have several colleagues on various versions of Acrobat ranging from 9.5.3 to 10.1.6 who cannot replicate this issue, even on the same PDF file?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Tom.

Re-installing Illustrator seemed to work, even though it was fully up to date and now technically it's not, it works better now. I guess I'll be pausing the "updates" from now on.
    Thanks!

  • Hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing of the iOS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing or upgrading the OS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

How long are you leaving it on the charger?
Are you connecting it directly to an electrical outlet or trying to charge via USB?  USB may not provide enough power to adequately charge the device if the battery is that low.
If none of that helps, then the only option would be a warranty replacement as either the battery or system board is bad.

  • Hello, I'm pretty sure my fan on my 2009 mac book pro has stopped running. Would this cause the computer to slow down and take for ever to boot up and show the color wheel every time I select an application ?

Hello, I'm pretty sure my fan on my 2009 mac book pro has stopped running. Would this cause the computer to slow down and take for ever to boot up and show the color wheel every time I select an application ? how involved to replace fan ? cost ?
    thanks

Not directly, but if the CPU overheats because of incompatible software, that would cause slowdowns. Do not allow the computer to run if the fan is not working unless you wish to fry your motherboard. Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Dear all, Since a week ago I observe that when I press the button for my macbook air to start a nap, first the screen turns to black but I can see the arrow (pointer). And only after few seconds the arrow and the screen really shut down.

Dear all, Since a week ago I observe that when I press the button for my macbook air to start a nap, first the screen turns to black (although I can see it is stil on) and I can see the arrow (pointer). Only after 15 seconds the arrow and the screen really shut down. It did not occur before, as a matter of fact it was instantaneous. What could be the problem?

Note the time in your Mac's menu bar or some other accurate timepiece. Then, press the button to put the MBA to sleep. Wait until the cursor disappears and for all indications that the Mac appears to be asleep.
Then, wake the Mac the way you normally wake it.
Then, find the Console app - it is in your Utilities folder and looks like this
You can find it by selecting Utilities from the Finder's Go menu.
    Open Console.
If the log list column on the left is not already displayed, show the log list by selecting Show Log List from Console's View menu.
Locate system.log in the list and select it. Many date and time-stamped entries will appear, hundreds of them, and you must find the entries relevant to your Mac's sleep problem. To do that type the words sleep cause in the Filter field at the upper left of the Console window:
That will cause all log entries to be hidden, except for the entries containing those words. The last entry in the list will correspond to the last time you woke the Mac. It will have a time stamp in the form hh:mm:ss later than the time you noted in the Mac's menu bar prior to putting it to sleep.
Make note of that exact time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Next: Clear the filter field by clicking the x in the above screenshot. It should then look like this:
All previously displayed log entries will reappear.
Next: Find the log entry that corresponds exactly to the time you noted in hours, minutes, and seconds containing the words "previous sleep cause". You may have to scroll up or down a considerable distance. When you find that line, select it and drag your cursor up and prior to the entry corresponding to the approximate time you noted before putting the Mac to sleep. This will result in a selection of perhaps 50 to 100 lines or so.
One or more of them, along with their time stamps, may reveal the reason for the fifteen second delay.
Copy and paste those log entries in a reply.
Most of the entries will be cryptic but will contain information you might consider personal such as your Mac's name. If you do not want that information to appear, delete or obscure it when posting your reply. Leave enough information so that the entries can be deciphered.

  • HT201263 My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine, but when I went back the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. What should I do?

My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine earlier, but when I went back a few hours later, the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. I thought it just needed to be charged but there seems to be a larger issue now. What should I do?

Let your ipod die. Then when it is dead charge it adn turn it back on. After that it should be fine.

  • I'm unable to add the email address for iMessage, that I was using before iOS 7 to my iPhone, because it says that it is "in use by another device," but I have no other devices.  How do I resolve this so I can add this email address to my iPhone?

Sync your iPhone to iTunes, and see if that does the trick.  Also you could try a Soft Reset with no Risk to Data.  Holding down both the Sleep button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears and then waiting for the Reset to bring you iPhone back to the lock screen.    Are you trying to add the email at Settings>Messages>Send and Receive from (2 Addresses) your iPhone number and your email address?

  • IPhoto says it won't import photos from my Fujifilm Finepix S1000 camera because it's the wrong format (jpeg).  It always has before... but I upgraded to Lion then went back to Snow Leopard and now it's not working.  Suggestions?  Thanks!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • The scroll bar on the right is gone. the only way i can move the screen up or down is by using the arrow keys.  happened after i updated software is there something i missing

The scroll bar on the right is gone  the only way I can move the screen up or down is with the arrow keys  Why how do i get it  back and have it stay there

Yep. For all us spreadsheet geeks, this is a real sinker. Anyway, here's my workaround. Not free, unfortunately. I have a macro program called QuicKeys installed on my Mac that I've used for countless years, and  which I highly recommend for other reasons. Anyway, one of QuicKeys' many features is simulating a scroll wheel using the keyboard. I have it simulating a cell-by-cell scroll using cmd-arrow keys. The only drawback is that I have to release the cmd key each time I want to move another cell.

Yes, you can and should. The DVD belong with the MBP. You should use the original DVD to erase the disk and install Snow Leopard prior to sale.
You can't sell it with Lion because it is authorized under your user ID.
