is there anyway to turn the track pad into a finger print scanner? If so please provvide links to the software

I don't think you could turn your trackpad into a biometric device, but here's a link to someone who cut open a space in their MacBook Pro's topcase to include a Sony Puppy -- you might be able to do likewise with the very similar case of your PowerBook (though I don't, of course, recommend this ;-)) : http://edahc.blogspot.com/2006/06/macbook-pro-biometrics.html

Disappear Finger Print Login function !

Hi I'm user of x61.
I've tried to install nero 8 on my laptop and the installation failed halfway and restared the laptop.
After restarted the laptop, there is no more option to login by my finger print. There is nothing else wrong except it.
How can I reenable this finger print login function?

I lost my finger print login

I have been using finger print login since I set up my T430s a few days ago and all of a sudden I could not log in using it? At login I get "No attempts to start the service have been made since the last boot". What has happend and how do I correct it?

Can you still log in with password?
Can you run ThinkVantage Fingerprint software (the utility you used to enroll fingerprints)? Does it work?

Finger Print Login in Win 8.1

I have entered my fingerprint to login to Windows in PC Settings -> Sign In Options
However there are no options during login. I tried swiping my finger over the reader, nothing works. I dont see the light blinking too.
I have configured for fingerprint login in windows 8.1 buy why is iy not coming up ?

I understand that you have set up the Simplepass software with fingerprints but are not seeing that option when you turn on the notebook.
When posting it is very helpful to provide your exact model of HP notebook and your Operating System.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Do you have the validity sensor drivers installed?
Have you ran the HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates?

FireFox 4.0.1 does not support HP Simplepass Identity finger print scanner?

The previous version of Firefox would work with my HP Simple pass (finger print scanner built into the laptop) to be used as a password for all web sites that require a password. Firefox 4.0.1 does not know what to do when I scan my finger print on a login page. Can I remove Version 4 and go back to the old version that worked?

Portege R700 Finger Print Reader suddenly not recognised from OS

I have been searching for a solution
My R700 on Win7 was working flawlessly using the finger print scanner. At some point without any reason the
hardware (finger print reader to login) was not recognized by the OS anymore.
- I tried to remove the driver software, reinstalled it
- updated it and so on resulting that the hardware was not found.
- I even removed all relevant entries from the registry - no go.
- the Authentic Finger Print software starts up, but only giving an error that the FP-reader is not present.
Is there a way to remove the stored fingerprint manually by deleting the manually.
The hardware is working according to the support. (Machine was send in)
However I do not wish to re-setup the entire machine (it is a business notebook) just to get this to work?
Any hints or step by step intro to achieve this?
I could not find a descritpion on how to remove fingerprints (cause I suspect that is the problem) manually since the software to do this does not start up.
Any input would be appreciated.

If you don't see the fingerprint hardware or unresolved devices in Device Manager then the device is either disabled in the BIOS or the fingerprint sensor is faulty or loose, or there was a liquid spill causing corrosion.

T410i - Finger print reader is not working

I have an unique case. Finger print reader is working fine while registering finger prints but not working while login or when prompts for authentication. !!!

I installed the driver , and also HP Protect Tool , i save my finger print also .
Now when i reboot its give me finger print verification option ,
but in login screen i need to insert computer pwd.
but i only want to scan finger print for login .

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP ProBook 4540s Notebook PC is a commercial product. You can do this at Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE.

Finger Print Reader functionality on Tecra M5

I own TECRA M5 which I bought one month ago. Today I restarted computer and tried to login using finger print reader, it does not worked, after 5, 6 attempts it read my finger but gave the msg, finger read is too short.
I restarted computer again, same happened but after many tries it worked. Why it??s not reading my finger? Normally it does not happened and it read finger at first attempt but above mentioned problem I have faced 3 times.
Any suggestions? Problem with brand new Tecra is irritating.

Check the version of your fingerprint software. On the Toshiba website it's version 5.4.0
If your installed application is a little bit older so you should install the new one from the website.
Furthermore please be sure that the lens of the fingerprint is clean and that the device scans properly.

LENOVO B560 Finger Print issue

Finger print software for hp 840 g1

i have just installed new windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my hp elite book 840 g1. finger print sensor is already installed and in control manager it shows that driver is installed and its working properly. now i install hp protect tools security manager but it does not show me to set finger prints and nor it show any finger print sensor installed on laptop.kindly tell me which software is to install on laptop and from where i can get it in order to use finger print sensor to login windows.thanks

In the meantime, I will try to assist you.
The fingerprint reader will only shine when it is waiting for a response, example when you startup the computer and login, when it prompts for a response, it will light up and it will not be lit when not in use.
Here is a Microsoft document on Driver update to increase the maximum USB transfer size in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, please ensure you have done all your Windows updates.

W550S Finger print manager will not launch. win 7

Only had this laptop for 4 days now, when I first got it I registered my fingerprints in lenovos "fingerprint manager pro" from the control panel, few days later I wanted to change some settings, now when I launch fingerprint manager pro an error pops up that says
"Windows biometric support must be enabled to use this application. Enable biometrics in the Windows control panel"
Been searching and trying different things to let me open this settings manager but havent been able to solve it, if anyone has any suggestions for me that would be great.
The original issue I was trying to solve is that after waking the computer from sleep the first thing thats shows on the login page is "scan an enrolled fingerprint to log on" when this shows it takes like 15 seconds for the fingerprint reader LED to turn on, then even after that It never picks up my first swipe, after the first swipe the LED goes off for another ten seconds before I can swipe a second time this time it registeres and logs in, however, if I click "use other credentials" and select my username THEN swipe my finger it works instantly.
If anyone knows what is causing these delays in response from the FPR that would be amazing. It seems like after every swipe there is a cooldown on the finger print reader before I can swipe again and it seems WAY longer than it should be. This makes it really annoying to log in with the finger print reader because I cant tell when its actually ready to recieve the swipe.

Well, after updating fingerprint manager pro it is now launching and working flawlessly, not sure why, or what simply updating the software changed in terms of permissions/accessability but it works, so im happy.
Feel kinda silly not doing the obvious first but thank you for the help, much appreciated.
