  • Win 10 upgrade disabled trackpad & fingerprint Scanner

    Hi there
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having trouble with scrilling and with the fingerprint reader. I am happy to assist with this. Windows 10 is supposed to have a native Biometrics utility, which you could try if the Simplepass software is not working for you.  Here is a page I found that may help with this: How to Add or Remove a Fingerprint for your Account in Windows 10 - tenforums.com As to the Synaptics touchpad, I found the following that you can try: Un-install the drivers. Follow these steps to do so: a. Type device manager search box and hit enter.b. Right click on the touchpad drivers and select Uninstall.c. Restart the computer once it is uninstalled. Download and install the latest touchpad drivers  in compatibility mode. Since drivers are not available for Windows 10 you can install the available drivers on manufacturer website in compatibility mode. Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.Select “Compatibility” Tab.Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.Let the driver install and then check the functionality.Let me know if this works

Hello Malygris1, I have a Pavilion dv6-6b08eh (with Win10 64bit), with exactly same problems like the first commenter. So, let me answer to your ideas. For the fingerprint issue: the Windows Hello simply does not exitst on the Sign-in options tab, so we cannot click on it. (Sorry for the hungarian language)  The fingerprint sensor has been installed correctly, because I can see it in the device manager under the biometric devices. The main interresting thing is when I firstly installed the Win10 (with an update from Win7), the Hello worked perfectly, but when I did a system recovery to a virgin system the problem arrived and it continues for this day. On the other hand I tried your solution for the Synaptics device, but It does not worked. I uninstalled the device, rebooted my pc, but when the windows started the device installed again. When I tried to install the downloaded driver in compatibility mode, I cannot because the installer told me that a newer version has been installed... Sure, because the windows installed on the boot. So, it did not worked.

  • Black Macbook Fingerprints

I visited my local Apple Store in London today and was inspecting the black Macbook, doesnt anyone find the fingerprint issues appauling? I touched it slightly on the outer cover and it made a really noticeable fingerprint. Then i found that the only way to remove it was to use a wet cloth, or clean it. And Apple have the front to charge more for it? They should pay people to buy it!

  • Why does the new ipad show fingerprints?

I taught the new ipad was supposed to of counteract the fingerprint marks on the screen?
Anyone know of really good screen protectors so i can get rid of them marks for good

I had the same problem with my ipad. I bought a screen protector from Zagg hopping that it would make it a bit better. But it was even worse with the orange peel effect on the protector... which made my ipad look that much messier with my fingerprints.
After researching for awhile hoping for a better product to protect my ipad, I came across someone talking about a brand name Skinpea. I took the chance and purchased from Skinpea... It made a BIG difference.
First, Skinpea's screen protector was ANTI RIPPLY with NO ORANGE PEEL.
Secondly, the screen was very smooth and clean. I can already tell by touching it that the quality was very well made and felt safe putting it on my brand new ipad.
Ofcourse, you can't get rid of your fingerprints 100%, but i can tell you that the fingerprint issue got better than not having the protector.
I'm Skinpea all the way now, I got it for my phone and my mothers new phone.
    Hope it helped.

Intermittently, while using Chrome browser, when I close it (not minimize) the screen blacks out and after a few seconds brings me to he lockscreen.
At the lock screen I need to log in using my password since the fingerprint scanner does not activate.
I have the "NWK3QMN"  Lenovo ThinkPad X1 1294 - Corei7 2640M 2. It is less than two weeks old and I have only installed Office and Adobe professional on it.
The fingerprint scanner is also a problem - After resuming from sleep mode, I get an error message every time I use the fingerprint scanner and have to use the password option again.

  • Bios upgrade in 64bit winPE?

I'm trying to include a bios upgrade step in my mdt task sequence for deploying win7.  Unfortuantely, the bios upgrade tool for our x220 tablets won't run under the 64bit version of WinPE.  When I run winuptp.exe -s I get the error:
"The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present."
I am aware of the battery driver requirement and have accounted for that, but in this case the problem seems to be that winuptp.exe is a 32bit program, and winpe doesn't load the WOW64 subsystem, so it can't run 32bit programs.  Is there a 64bit version of this available somewhere?
Has anyone else found a way to run this bios update from a 64bit windows PE environment?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I appreciate the honesty. Like I said, I'm just starting to play with it. I understand there is a lot of potential with UEFI, but really not a lot of advantage to it at the present other than possibly a few seconds shaved off of boot time.  I did actually put a few HP desktops running in UEFI mode out recently in production, and haven't had any issues. Of course, I don't normally enable bitlocker on desktops, so I will have to try one of those and see if I have the same issue on those.
I wasn't aware of the fingerprint issue. From that description, it sounds like it's just the lenovo fingerprint software that isn't compabable, is that right? Does the fingerprint reader still work ok with just the standard win7 biometric components under UEFI? I actually don't install the fingerprint software or rescue and recovery, so those aren't a big concern to me at this point. We try to keep vendor/model specific software to a minimum, so the user experience is the same on any device.

  • Ubuntu 13.10 on a T440 - Wifi, Sound, Fingerprint reader and TrackPoint issues

I recently got my t440 and put Ubuntu 13.10 on it and have had a few problems pop up. Hopefully someone here can help, or I will find solutions and post here as things get working again.
Wifi - I have a Thinkpad  11b/g/n 2x2 wireless card. I do not believe there are currently Linux drivers provided for this card. According to thinkwiki, the 1x2 version of the card works with real tek's rtl8192se driver; I have tried to load it with modprobe, but it does not work for this card. There might be a solution to this with ndiswrapper, but I haven't been successful. I have ordered an intel wireless card to replace this one.

TrackPoint - The trackpoint pointer works fine, but lenovo did away with the physical left/middle/right click buttons. • Lenovo B570 Fingerprint scanner not responding/is gone and other issues

    Hi,
I've been having some issues lately with my laptop. It comes with a fingerprint scanner, but as of yesterday is stopped working. Normally I can login by swiping my finger, but now it doesn't even show up. It usually has 3 users slots on the login screen. Mine, my sisters, and another slot for the fingerprint scanner. Now that third one doesn't even show up. My fingerprint scanner isn't reading anything at all, nor is it even showing up in many places. I have no idea what could have caused this. Any help?
    I'm running Windows 7 64bit on my Lenovo B570.
I'm not sure if it's related, but when I went to check my drivers to see if it was a driver issue, I found that a bunch of hardware was not working due to driver issues. They wouldn't let me update, giving me a Code 31 error, saying that the file could not be found. The ones that aren't working are listed below.
    Microsoft 6to4 Adapter
    Microsoft ISATAP Adapter
    Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
    WAN Miniport (IKEv2)
    WAN Miniport (IP)
    WAN Miniport (IPv6)
    WAN Miniport (L2TP)
    WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)
    WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
    WAN Miniport (PPTP)
    WAN Miniport (SSTP)
If anyone could help me fix this, I would be eternally grateful.

    Hi

  • QOSMIO X500-12D - webcam, bluetooth and fingerprint disconnection issues

    Hello,
I still got no solution for this problem. I already did a clean install of Win 7 x64 but still no luck. The devices still keeping disconnecting and I have to reboot to resolve. (this is bad since I normaly using a bluetooth keyboard)
Further this Problem seems not only to occour if system goes 'idle' since my bluetooth keyboard was disconnected during typing. (whatever 'idle' means).
Sometimes I was able to recover at least the Bluetooth connection by turn it off and on again within the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, sometimes with the HW switch (which also deactivates the WLAN) and sometimes only a reboot helped.
It seems that all three devices (Bluetooth, Webcam, Fingerprintsensor) are connected to the same integrated USB root hub within the system.
After my last test, everything was working before I left the system during a nightly copy operation of a 'few' gig, I come back after ~4 hours and all devices were disconnected (HW not installed) --> I checked in the device manager (see [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241257] to show devices which are not connected and in the computermanagement right click device manager -> View -> Show hidden devices) all 3 devices shown as 'not connected'.
I already opened a case at support and they told me to update the bios. (when I opened the call the tests were done with the latest bios available)
Nevertheless, I also had a small talk with the support and they told me to restore the system from the recovery DVD's and check if the problem persists after the restore of the 'certified' image (drivers and so on). If it still persists they will do a HW repair. (change mainboard or whatever)
*AGAIN... is there still NO solution out there? I have searched the web and found many people with the same issues. (X500 owners and others)*
    _What did i tried:_
    - different hotfixes as described at [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0402UQ0001R01.htm] and [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ0402UC0001R01.htm] ([http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258])
    - right now I am using [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981214] since the build numbers of the files are higher than in the hotfix mentioned above and therefor this hotfix should also resolve the problem described in [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258]. (and I am using an USB audio device)
    - I also tried to disable different things of the power management (e.g. disabled usb selective suspending)
    Modell QOSMIO X500-12D
    Partnumber PQX33E-030009GR
    BS-Version Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 x64

    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz

Video NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M Version=8.17.12.5896
    Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080

    HI,
It seems that I have found a solution for this problem.
If you have read my first post exactly you should have read that i already disabled the selective USB suspend.
I have connected 2 external USB hubs which are powered by an AC/DC adapter. On this USB hubs I have connected varios USB devices...7.1 USB Headset, external HDD's, PDA, Card Reader, PKI device, USB Sticks, etc.
Nevertheless, I also disabled the the Powermanagement settings on all devices which were involved and where it is possible.
To do this goto the device manager --> right click --> View --> show devices by connection.
Now locate your bluetooth, webcam and fingerprint device. (be carefull names might be different because of different drivers!)
    Should be under ACPI x64-based PC --> PCI-Bus --> Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller --> {color:#ff0000}*USB-Root-Hub*{color} --> {color:#ff0000}*Generic USB Hub*{color} -->
There you should find all integrated devices which are troublemaker:
    * {color:#ff0000}*AuthenTec Inc. AES2550*{color}
    * Bluetooth USB Controller-7 from TOSHIBA
    * USB-Webcam
Now double click every device in this 'chain' and locate the powermanagement TAB. (Please note that NOT all devices in this chain do have a powermanagement tab and cannot be configured....that's ok)
On the power management tab uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK.
I have done this for all devices which are {color:#ff0000}*marked red in the chain above*{color}. (_I also deactivated the USB selective suspend in the used powermanagement plan!)_
It seems to work now....until now no more bluetooth problem or devices which were gone. It might be that it is enough to disable the Power saving settings only on one or two devices, but right now i had no time to test.
Please also keep in mind that I am using the latest Intel Chipset driver, latest Toshiba drivers and installed the Microsoft hotfixes described in my first post in this thread!
It would be very nice if some people can try and post here if it works!
    Regards

  • T440P - Win 8.1 Fingerprint Single Sign on Issue

    Hi,
I just bought the T440P laptop, and for some reason it never updated to win 8.1 pro from the CDs that were provided. So I installed Win 8.1 x64 Enterperise with Update (provided by my company). I downloaded all the drivers for win 8,1 x64 from the website and installed them. The issue that i am facing is while following the single-sign on guide i have checked (ticked) everything but when the system boots it asks for my fingerprint (power - on password) and then stops at windows login and asks for it again. Why isnt the single sign on working?
Below images show the settings in the fingerprint Manager Pro 8.01.26(x64). Any help will be apprecaited.
Also the guide says to click the power-on tick over the enrolled finger print. I cannot find this option, is it even possible to power on the machine (T440P) with the fingerprint with win 8.1 x64 ?
    Thanks,
    Usama

  • EliteBook 8570p Fingerprint Sensor Issue and Windows 8 and 8.1 Built-In Biometric Framework

    Hello there,
i'm currently testing the Preview Build of Windows 8.1 on my HP EliteBook 8570p and have a small Problem using the Fingerprint... but back to start...
In Windows 8 there wheren't any microsoft builtin biometric framework, to get the fingerprint there you have to install the hp security protect manager, and the validity Fingerprint Driver from here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=de&cc=de&prodTypeId=32...
the actual version that the site above state is this: 4.4.228.0 (31 Okt 2012)
the filename of the fingerprint driver should be this: sp59624.exe
exactly this is what i download, but then upon extracting and "older?" SP-Number appears?  -> SP58152 ????
Driver should have Win8 support, but on installing it it just says it supports Win7 max... another hint that the driver packet is wrong packed...
this is the first thing what is very strange, even, the driver won't install automatically... just manuall, this is also a non WBF (Windows Biometric Framework) driver, so ne built-in fingerprint support of win 8.1 does not work.. indeed with the hp security manager... but when using the fingerprint login there i see just ugly Windows Vista branded Loginmasks... not a real choice..
after a bit of google seach i then found a new version of the validty fingerprint driver, but this is not listet in the 8570p Model download page... just found it with the help of google..
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=de&lc=de&dlc=de&softwareitem=ob-109892-1
this one have a newer version:  4.4.234.0 (2012-09-07)
interessting thing about this... newer version, but older release date... ?!
and it is a WBF driver, voila, i thought...
installing the driver via the device manager (VFS451) and Windows 8.1 is able to scan fingers for login or credentials requests... works quite well... until first reboot... sadly after the first reboot, windows just continously means that a finger is getting swyped acrous the fingerprint reader, but it isn't...
after deinstalling the device, and reinstalling it (and driver) the fingerprint reader works again still the next reboot...
any help is appreciated and HP PLEASE do something about all the issues with the fingerprint readers even in Windows 8 (and/or correct the download)

    Hello DaStivi,

  • T500 Fingerprint Reader in Windows 7 Issue

I recently installed Windows 7 x64, everything went great, except that when I log out / lock / standby the computer, and I try to log back in using the fingerprint reader, I get the following error message: "This computer is locked. Only the logged on user can unlock it".
But I am the logged on (assuming there is one, after a log out...), admin and only user.
So to log on, I just enter the system password and everything works, but back in Vista, this worked without a problem.
When I boot up or restart the computer, I get no issues, the fingerprint reader works great (in the bios and the Windows login part).
Got most drivers through Thinkvantage System Update but had to get the fingerprint drivers from the Lenovo website, released on 10/22 version 3.3.0.56 (initial and official release for Win7)
    Any solution to this?
    Thanks!

I've had the same issue with Win 7 x86 as well. I've not had time to clear out the fingerprint profiles yet, but I did find a work around. The fingerprint scanner should start working correctly if, when you go to unlock the machine, you click the "other credentials" button and then the "switch user" button. Just an FYI for anyone looking to unlock their machine without having to reboot it.
