Fingerprint-Reader in Firefox 30

Hallo Community,

  • The same problem again with HP Simple Pass fingerprint reader after upfrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 5. I have already installed HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0 to fix the problem after upgrading to Firefox 4.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with a fingerprint reader. I had the same problem as many other people when upgrading to Firefox 4, : I couldn't use the HP Simple Pass to enter a website needing a username and password by just swiping my fingerprint. I fixed the problem by downloading the new HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0. This fixed the problem and I was very happy. Since upgrading to Firefox 5 I have the same problem again, but I already have the new version of HP Simple Pass. How can this be fixed so that I can use this fingerprint scan feature again, or where can I download Firefox 4 again?

  • The fingerprint reader on my HP Pailion dv7 will not work in Firefox 4, but worked fine in earlier versions.

The fingerprint reader uses DigitalPersona 5.0.0.4490 extension. Firefox 4.0 says this is loaded and active. However, fingerprints cannot be used to log in from Firefox 4.0.
I reloaded Firefox 3.6.16 and everything automatically began working properly.

I see you started another question thread - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/888892 - so I guess your problem isn't resolved.
If it is trying to print to an XPS file, your printer isn't selected as the destination for print. You need to select you printer in the Printer - Name box. See the screenshot.

  • What is most recent Firefox version compatible with Upek fingerprint reader

I use Upek Protector Suite with my Dell Vostro laptop's fingerprint reader. It worked with Firefox v3.5, but seems not to like Firefox v3.6, so I'm really doubtful about upgrading to v4 unless someone points me at the compatible plug-in or extension please. Thanks!

  • Digital persona(fingerprint reader) extension is incompatable with firefox 4.0b7 and many more extension which is working in firefox 3.6 is not compatable with this version

Current version of firefox shows "Digital persona(fingerprint reader) extension is incompatable with firefox 4.0b7" and many more extension which is working in firefox 3.6 also not compatable with this version what should we do because this extensions are very useful for me in my laptop

I got this reply from DigitalPersona:
"DigitalPersona made the decision late last Spring, to discontinue the Personal products. There will be no further revisions."

  • Fingerprint reader website login for firefox wont work

hey all just trying to figure out this lack of fingerprint reader website login capability for firefox just reimaged my computer and it worked before with firefox but now just works with IE and Chrome

I've watched the video and re-registered several times.  What I find is that:
    a) I have some difficulty registering.  With one particular finger, on the first two registration attempts, I got to seven finger strokes but the registration failed after multiple attempts on the eight stroke.  With another finger, I was able to register in eight consecutive strokes.
    b) Immediately after registering the two fingers, I locked the screen and try to login again.  Many attempts with the first finger failed.  After 3-4 tries with the second finger, it finally worked.
So I'm willing to believe that the hardware is faulty.  What do I do about it?  If I have to return it to the Lenovo service center, I won't bother.  The convenience of the fingerprint reader is not worth losing the use of the machine for several days.

  • What can be done with the fingerprint reader?

I am trying to figure out simply what I can do with the fingerprint reader on the T400. I understand how to use it to log into the computer. My main question is whether or not I can use the fingerprint reader in the following contexts, and if so how.
1a) To  log into internet password protected websites. When I use IE, the password manager pops up and prompts me to save a password. If I save it, I can return to that website and it automatically will enter the login information and password for me. I want to know whether you can have password manager (or another program) prompt the user for the fingerprint and then submit the login information. That way the information is protected each time I log in, but I do not need to enter log in information each time, only a fingerprint.
1b) If this is possible in IE8, I would like to know if it is possible in Firefox 3, in which password manager does not pop up.
    2) Can it be used to log into MS Outlook.
    3) Can it be used to lock documents in MS Word.
I much appreciate any information letting me know if these can be done, and if so, how to do them. Thank you very much for your help!

After playing with it for a while I figured out at least questions 1a) and 1b). For anyone else who has the same questions:
1a) Have your browser save the password using Lenovo's Password Manager. Then open password manager and open that item.  Click the advanced tab and change the security level to custom. Click "Customize Security Policy" and select "Protect with a Fingerprint."
1b) Lenovo has a patch to synch Password Manager with firefox 3. It can be found here and is much easier than the manual fixes found on this forum.

I am still looking for help with 3) and 4), particurally 3). Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you very much!!

  • I have a fingerprint reader on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6) and the newer version will not let me use it to open my previously saved/bookmarked sites, why?

I have a Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader on my laptop. This feature allows you to swipe your finger and open up saved sites and log-ins. It worked fine with the previous version of mozilla but when I try to use it now I get a message that says, 'Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program.'

The company that make the bioscanner for HP have abandoned it. For more details see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799388

  • What's the most current version of FF that will support my DigitalPersona fingerprint reader?

I recently updated FF to the newest version only to find that my fingerprint reader was no longer supported . . . unacceptable! I went back to an older version, and now I'm constantly being asked to upgrade.

If you want to stay on Firefox 3.6, please update to Firefox 3.6.27 to ensure that you close known security holes.
now, a for your fingerprint reader, I'm assuming this is HP provided software? I did find this article, [http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01822628&lc=en&dlc=e&cc=us&product=3421183&rule=3579&lang=e http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01822628&lc=en&dlc=e&cc=us&product=3421183&rule=3579&lang=e]. It basically appears that the version of the software you are running hasn't been updated to use the most recent Firefox.

  • Tx2510us - Fingerprint Reader Not Detected after Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 installed

Have had Windows 7 32-Bit installed and running fine since early last year..   Today Windows Update installed Service Pack 1.
Now, the fingerprint reader (AuthenTec AES1610) is not detected.   Digital Persona reported the fingerprint reader isn't connected and the Device Manager shows installed and working properly..   When the computer boots, the logon screen shows not detected..
Have seen several older posts that reference a page with a fix for AuthenTec/Digital Persona, but get a 403 error when trying to access..
Hoping someone still has this info, or possibly there's a new fix to work with Service Pack 1..
    Thanks

Followed the given advice: installed SP1 again, ran Firefox in safemode, disabled other running programs as mutorrent, still Firefox didnt work. I had internetconnection (after restarting mutorrent this did work, the app telling me what the weather outside is worked) but no Firefox: as previous time I got the start screen, but could not browse the internet.
I also tried to start the Internet Explorer and it also looked as if that application had problems (but that can also be because I did not use it for a while - old version or whatever - and it is not my standard browser).
Have again performed a roll back in order to remove SP1, now Firefox works again.
If somebody has advice it would be very welcome!

  • Newest version 6 will not work with Digitalpersona fingerprint reader, I want to reinstall version 5. Can you send me a link or tell me where to find it? Thank you! Howard L. Medinger

Foolishly, I got a message to install the newest version of Firefox and did so without considering the consequences. Now, my Digitalpersona fingerprint reader will not work and I have many many programs that I use this feature. (It enables me to avoid typing username & passwords for different sites). I have tried to find the older version 5 to reinstall it, but so far have not been able to do it. All the Mozilla sites just offer version6. HELP!

    Yes, of course.
Here is the link for all of the versions:

Don't forget to hit 'Solved it'.
'''IMPORTANT NOTE: Don't forget that the previous versions might have security problems. For the latest security updates you MUST upgrade to latest version. That's what I STRONGLY recommend. If you really want to downgrade the recommended version is 3.6.21. Thank you for paying attention!'''

  • Client security fingerprint reader as master web password

From the reading I have done and the Flash video I watched, I understand that I can use the fingerprint reader on my laptop as a master password. I am most interested in this for my online passwords (firefox). I can't find an article with a simple explanation or a step by step guide to do this.
Can anyone help me out either by explaining it to me or by pointing me in the right resource direction? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Well, it must work better for you. First time every time? For me it works but I frequently lose patience with it needing several goes it and have to enter a password manually just to get past it.
Keep an eye on lastpass.com; a coming release will support fingerprint readers, then you can use it for everything.

  • FingerPrint reader not working on Google Chrome

The HP Simplepass fingerprint reader is working on IE and Firefox but not on Chrome. Anybody know why?

I have the same issue with the same laptop
I've noticed that whichever driver you try and install, the version always seems stuck at 2.1.0.2

  • Re: Tecra A10 Fingerprint reader not working with IE 8

I had various user names and passwords registered on numerous websites.
From IE7, I could use the fingerprint reader to input the user name and passwords to these sites.
Since Windows update installed IE8, the fingerprint system does not work within internet explorer - it works as normal for all other programs and logon.
I figured out it must be a security thing in IE8, but cannot work out how to re-enable the fingerprint software into IE8.

    Hi
This issue has been posted sever times here in the forum and it related to the compatibility issue between the old Fingerprint Truesuite access manager and IE8 and Firefox 3
As far as I know the newer Truesuite access manager software v3.0 or higher should solve this issue.
But we have to wait until such update will be published!
    Cheers
