  • Fingerprint Reader not being recognized at boot when using Dell Monitor

    Hi,
I just purchased a Dell U3011 and it has USB ports, so connecting the adapter to the PC allows you to use to the ports on the monitor.
What's interesting, is that at bootup--and only at bootup--my W700 doesn't recognize the Fingerprint Reader and instead prompts for the HDD passwords manually.
But when Windows 7 starts, it does reconize the Fingerprint Reader and I'm able to logon using my fingerprint.
The problem is only right after POST.
So is there some sort of conflict and is there possibly some setting I can configure in the BIOS that might resolve this "conflict?"
    Thanks.

There you go, I am  facing the same problem, my finger print reader is not recognized, attached below is my screen shot of my device manager where i installed my drivers for this finger print reader.
    Spoiler
attached is the second image of the software used by finger print reader in my lap top, showing the error message. "Finger print reader is not recognized"
My model number is: Hp pavilion DV 6907 TX
The model was initially with the Operating system - Vista, my finger print reader all worked fine, then i later upgraded to windows 7, where i was successful in finding all drivers for my lap top. I was successful in finding the drivers for my finger print reader as well, and i installed it, that's the reason it shows in the device manager, but i don't know the reason why it is not getting detected.
Is this something to do with the hardware failure to get detected by the drivers ? or an incorrect driver inside my laptop which is not gelling with the hardware ( the driver is not getting digitally signed). please help.

Impatica is not being displayed in the software listing for any PCs that it is installed on. Accoring to the listing of identified applications, Impatica Inc. Impatica for PowerPoint x.x should be identified.
We are using Impatica for PowerPoint version 4.0.2 and it is not identified (the only FNI is the uninstall.exe in C:\Program Files\Impatica for PowerPoint 4.0.2)
I am using Zenworks Asset Management 7.5 IR 17, with the most recent PRU.

    Lisa,
You will need to follow TID 2973340 to get the software identified and have a bug submitted so the fingerprinting team can get that software added to the next PRU.

  • Fingerprint reader not working in IE and saying failed to connect to sensor

    Hi all,
I bought a Qosmio x500 10t a couple of months back. For the first couple of weeks i had no probs using the fingerprint reader to log in to windows and to log in to websites in Internet exploer.
All of a sudden it would not work on any website stored. The green banner showed accross the top of site and asked to swipe finger but nothing happened when I swiped. I rebooted and it worked again but not for long before failing. This time a reboot didnt work so i deleted my finger prints and websites and started from scratch. That worked for a couple of attempts before probs started again. And on trying to get into Fingerprint utility it says failure to connect to sensor. So, I did a system restore. It worked for a couple of times again and then same probs. So I found the updated utility software, uninstalled the old and put on the new. Same again, worked for a couple of times then failed.
I could not find anything stuck in the registry but to be on the safe side i did a full system clean back to factory setup using backup discs. Hey presto i thought it had worked. Everything going ok for first 24hrs and then same problems start to occur. Only this time it is also prompting me to enroll fingerprints even though i already have. And when i try to get into the utilioty it says failed to read sensor again.
The fingerprint log on to windows always works as long as i dont close the fingerprint utility down before shutting down. If i do exit the utilty i cant reopen it as it just says failed to connect to sensor. And then i have to unistall and reinstall the utility software. Aty the moment it occasionally works on websites stored but most of the time it doesnt do anything.
Please help. Do I need to send laptop back to Toshiba??

    Hi,
*I got a solution* for the problem that the fingerprint sensor "suddenly" does not work any more.
When starting the Toshiba Fingerprint Utility, it says "failed to connect to fingerprint sensor".
Is it possible that just before it stopped working there was a new firewall installed, or firewall settings had been changed?
*In my case, the problem was solved by changing my firewall settings* (Windows 7 Firewall Control) to ALLOW all traffic for
the Authentec Fingerprint Sensor Service (AFSS). It is the file "AtService.exe" in C:\Program files
    The reason is simple:
The Toshiba Fingerprint utility communicates with the fingerprint sensor service via TCP/IP.
Therefore, any firewall that blocks traffic on the local computer will block the communication.
*After changing my firewall settings, fingerprint sensor works* on my R700 flawlessly now.

  • Fingerprint Reader not working upon waking from sleep for windows login

    Hello,
I have a brand new T540P with a Validity fingerprint reader.
Rougly 80% of the time, the Fingerprint reader is unresponsive at the windows login screen after waking the computer from sleep. It works 100% of the time when booting from an off position, however. Once logged in, it also works 100% of the time. The issue only arises when logging into windows.
    Things I have tried
-uninstalling/installing device in device manager and finger print manager pro software
-setting fingerprints through both fingerprint manager pro software (lenovo) OR through the built in windows fingerprint control panel options
-disabling "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" in device manager.
I should note as well that I have another T540P that I ordered as a replacement. Both models experience the same issue.
Is this a platform wide issue affecting all T540P models? This is frusterating.

Your report is the first we have ever heard of this issue on T/W.  It does not happen on my T/W systems here (with or without 30 Day Standby enabled).  The other reports I heard of this problem came from X240.
I just want to confirm with you - the problem happens after coming out of Sleep (and not Hibernate), right?
Can you tell me exactly what you are doing?  e.g.
    1.  Use the computer normally (is AC attached or not?)
    2.  Close the lid - the computer goes to sleep  (or do you go to sleep some other way?)
    3.  Open the lid 2 hours later (or how long)?
    4.  are you using a dock?
The more info you can provide, the better.  Thanks for your help.
Also please let me know what BIOS version you have.

  • Fingerprint Reader Not Working

So I had Avast! on my computer. It was annoying and scanned every file for like 30 seconds with DeepScan. So I uninstalled it. When it uninstalled, it removed my fingerprint reader driver. My computer got really slow and a lot of my apps don't work. I wanna punch the Avast people. It is not a virus because I did not download anything after I uninstalled. I am not that dumb. I tried to reinstall according to people on the forum but it didn't work. Under device manager, I get: http://prntscr.com/3qpb8y
    It says "unknown device."
Then, when I go to Control Panel, I get this: http://prntscr.com/3qpbrc
On the login screen, it gives me the option for fingerprint read login, but the light on the fingerprint reader doesn't light up and it won't log in. I even did a system restore to before the uninstall and it still doesn't work. -_- Then, I did HP Recovery Manager and reinstall Validity Sensor and SimplePass. That didn't help either. When I tried to reinstall SimplePass I got an error message. I saved the log. Here is what the log said behalf of the error:

  • Fingerprint Reader Not Detected during startup on Windows 7

    Dear Community Users/Tech Guru,
I am hoping somebody could shed light into a weired issue I am facing with this *stupid* Microsoft OS. I purchased a T400 last year and brought a x64 bit Windows 7 three months ago and have it setup for clean installation. I followed the procedure published in lenovo.
I had the security setup of my notebook to use pre-desktop authentication and single sign-on. I had everything setup and running.
However, after a few weeks I began to noticed that upon power up and giving a fingerprint swipe on the bios authentication, it would halt on the windows startup page (where we would normally login). It turns out that the fingerprint device is not detected! Something is not workin properly during the startup of bill gates Microsoft Windows 7! I would try a reboot on the system and it will load properly afterwards.
But I find it stupid that Windows doesn't detect my fingerprint device on startup! This happens when it's a cold boot using a battery (at least 70% of the time it turns out that way). I disabled  the single sign-on but retained the desktop authentication (means I have to swipe twice). But this f*ck OS is still not detecting it during cold start.
    Anyone... please advice?
    Solved!

I attempted to reset the policy settings of CSS but then the pop up screen just got stuck:
    - I did a reboot and reset the fingerprint data and password (after exporting the
      settings),
    - uninstalled the fingerprint reader and CSS
    - uninstalled the CSS. I had encountered some issues while uninstalling it
Windows is reporting that the installation log file could not be found. I manually
downloaded the driver from the site and used the installer to remove it from my PC
    - Reinstalled both CSS and Fingerprint driver
    - Import all my security settings (password and fingerprint)
    - Tested CSS and used fingerprint as default login method in battery mode
    - Enabled Single SignIn method in CSS and BIOS
So far so good, the reinstallation fixed the issue. I did recall that there was a windows update before this mayhem on the fingerprint reader started.

  • Re: Fingerprint Reader Not Working On Windows 8.1 Pro Startup

    Model: ThinkPad Edge E420
OS:       Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
Problem: Fingerprint reader suddenly stopped working (Image 1). One major change I think which might have lead to this - I had a recent update from Microsoft on 28/Aug/2014 (Image 2). I'm not sure though that this must be the cause of the problem.
Troubleshooting tried: I tried first to repair through "programs and features" but did not work. Then I tried to uninstall and reinstall the FingerPrint reader software (Latest version available on Lenovo Website for my model). Still did not work. I'm pasting photographs of the error. I've tried to follow all the methods shown on various threads on this forum but nothing worked so far....Even the TouchChip (Fingerprint) patch driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)  which is compatible with Windows 8.1 doens't install. (image 3). Device manager shows error for Biometric devices. (image 4).
    Please help.
    Image - 1

For Windows 8.1 you should not be installing any fingerprint software.  You should uninstall ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software.  The driver you need (for TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor) will come from Windows Update.  Then you can enroll fingerprints from the PC Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Options screen.
If there is a problem with the device in Device Manager, try removing it and check the option to delete the driver software.  Then reboot, run Windows Update, and a compatible version for your system should be installed.

  • Tx2510us - Fingerprint Reader Not Detected after Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 installed

Have had Windows 7 32-Bit installed and running fine since early last year..   Today Windows Update installed Service Pack 1.
Now, the fingerprint reader (AuthenTec AES1610) is not detected.   Digital Persona reported the fingerprint reader isn't connected and the Device Manager shows installed and working properly..   When the computer boots, the logon screen shows not detected..
Have seen several older posts that reference a page with a fix for AuthenTec/Digital Persona, but get a 403 error when trying to access..
Hoping someone still has this info, or possibly there's a new fix to work with Service Pack 1..
    Thanks

Followed the given advice: installed SP1 again, ran Firefox in safemode, disabled other running programs as mutorrent, still Firefox didnt work. I had internetconnection (after restarting mutorrent this did work, the app telling me what the weather outside is worked) but no Firefox: as previous time I got the start screen, but could not browse the internet.
I also tried to start the Internet Explorer and it also looked as if that application had problems (but that can also be because I did not use it for a while - old version or whatever - and it is not my standard browser).
Have again performed a roll back in order to remove SP1, now Firefox works again.
If somebody has advice it would be very welcome!

  • Satellite A200/W00 - Fingerprint Scanner not being recognised by software

    Hi.
I'm running a Satellite A200/W00 Toshiba laptop (PSAF6A-0W00IN), and I just recently installed my brand new Windows 7 Professional that I just bought.
I found the Windows 7 Drivers for my laptop on the website and installed the Protector Suite QL 5.8.0.4024, and it installed just fine.
Once I restart my computer after installing, on the login screen where the fingerprint scanner button is to log in it says 'Cannot read scanning device', or something along those lines.
When I log in there is another pop-up with the program on the task bar stating the same thing, that my fingerprint scanning device needs to be plugged in. It's built into the laptop, it shouldn't need 'plugging in'.
I tried uninstalling the drivers for my Biometric device, and then on scanning for hardware changes it immediately detected my Fingerprint scanner again and reinstalled the drivers from it.
So, my Fingerprint scanner is clearly working, but Protector Suite QL isn't detecting it. I don't understand why.
Anyone discovered this problem or know how to fix it? I can't exactly check the state of my scanner as it is built into my laptop.

I'm not sure what the TrueSuite Access Manager you mentioned is. If that is the program that you use for managing your fingerprints/logging in with fingerprint reader, then that is a different program than what I had come with my laptop.
The program that came with my laptop for managing fingerprints and the reader is UPEK Protector Suite QL, and it used to work perfectly fine on Win7 RC and Vista Home Premium.
I can't register my fingerprints at all as the program that is supposed to do it isn't finding my fingerprint reader. Logging in with the fingerprint reader is an option at the moment at the login screen, but as mentioned it says that it cannot find the reader.
I have 'Fingerprint Login' selected in the settings with 'Allow to bypass logon using Windows password' and 'Allow user selfenroll in login', and other settings are set to 'Convenient' mode.
I've taken a screenshot of the exact popup that comes up whenever I try to access the Fingerprint reader to register/check storage, and have uploaded it. Here is a link: [http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4880/fingerprinterror.jpg]
