Finished DVD Momentarily Hangs In Two Places

I have created a 33 minute slide show in Aperture 3. The show is very good quality but it hangs in two places on the burned DVD. Have dragged plist to trash, exported again, burned disk appromimately 7 times, and each time I get the same thing. It hung one time when I burned the movie using iMovie HD6. I assume from this that my problem is iDVD. Any suggestions? Has anybody else experienced these hangs in iDVD

It's good to know that other's are having the same issue. I recently upgraded to the Quad Core iMac with Snow Leopard. Previously I was using a 24"iMac with just Leopard where I was not experiencing the issue.
I have a similar work flow to creating motion DVD's. I create a 25 - 30 minute slideshow with audio tracks in fotomagico then export as Quicktime .MOV file then drag into iDVD to create menu and burn to DVD. When I play this disc back in DVD player connected to TV there is a pause around half way where the entire slideshow including audio stops for about 3 seconds, then another pause towards the end of the slide show. The same disc played back in the iMac plays perfectly.I have tried reducing burn speeds right down to 1x but this did not solve the issue. Oddly the pause location changed depending on which burn speed I used. I also have a Mac Book Pro with Leopard, (not Snow Leopard) which burns the same project file with no issues when played back on the non computer DVD player. This makes me think it is an operating system issue. I have spent quite a few hours on the phone to Apple and reinstalled operating system, tried burning through different users, tried different quicktime export options, all totalling around 20 different burns and viewings to look for rectifications or errors! That's a lot of my valuable time wasted! If you hear of a solution be sure to post it up! In the meantime I am having to burn my work on the laptop which is not so practical but the only solution I can reliably count on.

    still photos looks wavy, ripple in the finished DVD using Ilife 09. The photo looks good in iDVD. I had used iDVD 08, it had never happen before. Please help!

    There is a > Discussion > iMovie > iMovie HD6 going on into which I entered. I posted the following earlier today. I am the entrant with trhe Japanese doll in red, can't miss it.
    Have you a set prescription that you use when beginning the Burn to Disc from iDVD. That's where my problem is.
    Please read the following and send help soon . . . potis
    "My rendering is from iPhoto to FotoMagico. There the album is assembled with all of FoMo's attributes. I find it very user friendly. The blurring of a photo in iPhoto with the Blur adjustment does blur alright and it my instances I get a perceptible lightening of the image. Useable, but not the original. —Cut to the finish. Beautiful rendering in FoMo, so sent to iDVD the 130 photos and music. Beautiful in iMac playback in iDVD. Cannot complain a wink. Burn disc. Play disc, and there are the jaggies on the two buildings, one a church with lots of green and white marble on the facade, the other the Ponte Vechicco shimmering as in a desert as the zoom moves out. The jaggies appear on any horizontal or vertical shape, especially buildings (as noted elsewhere in this forum).
    My logic says that if the project plays very well in iDVD and wavers in a DVD burnt from iDVD, that the wavies are introduced in the burn process. I tried recording at Slideshow settings of HD 720p as suggested. No help there.
    Another suggestion has been that the digital cameras are ahead of the iMac Dual Core capabilities. I don't know about that. My Pentax SLR does load them in.
    For the moment I am eliminating the two dramatic zooms because they are distracting and waiting for a solution which will have to take form outside of my meager experience.
    Thanks muchas for your reply.

  • Turning Off An Audio Track From Finished DVD Menu

    Hi, Folks. I asked this question a couple of years ago, perhaps it has been included in recent upgrades.
    I use Premiere Elements 11, happily, to make family activity videos. I would like to have a menu option on the finished DVD to turn on or off the narration track. I see other uses, for example, the music or background noise could be optioned for viewer preference. If PE will not do this, is there a comparably priced alternative? Or, could I make the video in PE and author in another program? I imagine a high end program would include this feature, but there is no income in this for me, so I'd rather spend money doing things that provide footage to make movies of instead of software purchase.
    Thanks in advance.
    Duke

    Duke
    Nothing has change with regard to Premiere Elements (any version) and obtaining from it a DVD-VIDEO on DVD that gives the viewer the option to listen to it with or without narration that was included in the project. You would do best to do a 2 disc production for this - one with and one without narration.
    The idea to have both versions on one Timeline is possible (and we can give you detail how to on that for an appropriate Adobe menu design), but it is space consuming especially if you are dealing with a large project. Are you prepared to go from DVD disc spec'd at 4.7 GB/120 minutes (in reality 4.3 GB) to DVD disc spec'd at 8.5 GB/120 minutes (in reality 7.95 GB) to accommodate this approach?
    As for alternative video editors and their disc menu options, I am not aware of one that could do what you seek.
    Please let us know if we can be of assistance with a step by step on setting up Adobe disc menus (as is) or customized to deal with the two versions on one Timeline idea.
    Thank you.

    Thank You all in Advance

    You can't merge history otherwise then using Sync to store the history and bookmarks of one places.sqlite on the Sync server and then disconnect.<br />
    Copy the second places.sqlite file to your Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.
    Then setup Sync once again using that account and merge the content on the Sync server with your computer.

  • How do I include the photos in a imovie project to the finished dvd so the users can have access to them?

    I've included alot of old photos in an iMovie project and would like to include them on the finished DVD I create with iDVD. I woud like the users to be able to have access to them so they can print them, store them on their own computer or whatever they would like to do. How would I do this?

    You do this by creating a DVD-ROM section on your DVD. See this explanation from iDVD Help.
    Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc
    You can let viewers copy files directly from your DVD by adding the files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc. These files are burned onto the DVD and are accessible when the disc is viewed on either a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer, but not a DVD player.
    You can add any kind of file to the disc. For example, if your disc contains a slideshow, you can add the image files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc so viewers can download them to their own computers and print them. You can also add a file containing your movie production notes and other “extras.”
    To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:
    Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.
    The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.
    Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.
    Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.
    You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.
    When you add a file to the DVD-ROM portion of your disc, before you burn the disc the project contains just a reference to the location of the file on your hard disk, not the actual file. So if you delete a file from your computer or move it from its location after adding it to the DVD-ROM contents, you get a “File not found” message when you try to burn your disc. You can either remove these missing files from the DVD-ROM contents or find them on your computer and put them back in the original location so iDVD can access them.
    As you add files to the DVD-ROM contents, be sure to check the DVD Capacity meter in the Project Info window to find out how many gigabytes of disc space are being used. The Capacity meter shows the disc space taken up by the video portion of the disc as well as the DVD-ROM portion.

  • Distorted video in finished dvd.

    Hello, this is my first dvd I created.
    From premiere I exported a 3min long avi video.
    Aspesct Ratio: 720x576
    Pixel aspect ratio 1,422.
    Copressor: Indeo Video 5.10.
    Interlace: Lower Field First
    In Encore DVD I imported the video as an asset, menu is set to PAL 16:9. All works fine in preview view. But when I play the finished DVD the video looks like the picture in the link below, the menu works fine. But when I try to play the transcoded video in Encore Preview after I completed the burning. I got an error message "abnormal condition". And after that I am not able to import the 3min avi file, I got the error message: Error loading transcode preset.

    >
    Sure - use two different blocks. The code you posted doesn't have any BEGIN.
    The proper structure is:
    BEGIN
    . . . put your first code here
    EXCEPTION
    . . . put your first exception handling here
    END;
    BEGIN
    . . . put your second code here
    EXCEPTION
    . . . put your second exception handling here
    END;If you need your code to quit after an exception in one of the blocks issue a RAISE in the exception handler for that block.
    Depending on what each block does and what you want to save or rollback it is also common to use SAVEPOINTs for the blocks.
    See SAVEPOINT in the SQL Language doc.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_10001.htm
    >
    savepoint
    Specify the name of the savepoint to be created.
    Savepoint names must be distinct within a given transaction. If you create a second savepoint with the same identifier as an earlier savepoint, then the earlier savepoint is erased. After a savepoint has been created, you can either continue processing, commit your work, roll back the entire transaction, or roll back to the savepoint.
    Example
    Creating Savepoints: Example To update the salary for Banda and Greene in the sample table hr.employees, check that the total department salary does not exceed 314,000, then reenter the salary for Greene:
    UPDATE employees
    SET salary = 7000
    WHERE last_name = 'Banda';
    SAVEPOINT banda_sal;
    UPDATE employees
    SET salary = 12000
    WHERE last_name = 'Greene';
    SAVEPOINT greene_sal;
    SELECT SUM(salary) FROM employees;
    ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT banda_sal;
    UPDATE employees
    SET salary = 11000
    WHERE last_name = 'Greene';
    COMMIT;
    >
    For your use case you could create a SAVEPOINT before each of the blocks and then in the exception handlers issue a ROLLBACK to the appropriate SAVEPOINT before you exit the procedure.

  • Color Bars Flickering in Finished DVD

    I have been converting my 8mm analog videos using a Pinnacle converter. Using imovie I create movies and then create dvds using idvd. My finished dvds tend to have flickering (rolling) color bars in the movie. These bars are usually horizontal and appear in images which are usually vibriant red and blue (happens in ilife 4 & 5).
    This condition does not appear in imovie, it only appears in the final burned dvd. I don't get the condition when I make movies with DV from my new Sony DV camcorder.
    Any ideas?
    Rich

    It may not be a feature of your DVD, but of that particular DVD player or TV screen (..if you're watching it on a TV).
    Some players - and TVs - play 'interlaced' video, and others can play 'progressive' video.
    iMovie generally shows video in the format which computer screens show it; that's to say a whole picture at a time, refreshed, say, 75 times a second. 'Interlaced' TV shows pictures refreshed 60 times a second (in the US) or 50 times a second (Europe) ..and each of those pictures has just half the complete picture ..showing odd or even interwoven horizontal sections (lines) of the picture.
    'Progressive scan' devices (players and TVs) collect both those halves, then display all the picture, either 30 times (US) or 25 times (Europe) a second. Some people say that gives a 'sharper' picture, but others find that it 'flickers' slightly, and looks more jerky.
    Sometimes those 'fields' (half-pictures) get reversed, so that movement seems particularly jerky, or 'backwards-jumpy'.
    The characteristic you're seeing - if I understand you correctly - may be incorrect 'interlacing' by the Pinnacle, giving emphasis to the 'wrong' field (..in the US, in NTSC video, it's upper field [half-picture] first; in Europe [PAL video] it should be lower field first.
    You probably wouldn't see any result of this in iMovie, or on a computer screen ..but when seen on a TV it can give this odd 'fringing'.
    Also, anything with vibrant red is difficult to process well in video (..professionals avoid solid reds, and try to 'weaken' them to prevent 'bleed' or other artifacts at the borders between red and other colours).

    -tried using math.round but it only rounds to nearest integerI advise against rounding in most newbie situations. Usually it's the display of the variable you want to change.
    -tried using decimalformat class but that converts to string, and cast wont allow me to convert from string back to doubleOf course cast won't allow you to convert back. If you wanted to do that you'd use Double.parseDouble(stringVar); But we don't know why you are doing all this converting in the first place.
    *is there a round method that allows you to specify decimal places?
    *or is there an easy method to cast a string back to a double?Advice: Forgetting all this fooha with rounding, what in essence are you trying to achieve? Why all of this number manipulation in the first place? It will affect what should be the best answer.

  • Judder in finished DVD

    I've had this problem for some time using the old iMovie HD/iDVD/Toast.  Now I'm using the latest iMovie and Yosemite I hoped the problem might have disappeared, but sadly, no.
    My proble is in bad judder
    Movie footage shot using a Camcorder, and 3 different cameras was imported into iMovie and edited.
    From here I tried 2 different methods to encode and produce a finished DVD.
    1st method:
    The finished movie was shared to "File" resulting in a .mov of around 52GB.
    This file was 'imported' into iDVD (which I still have from my pre-Mavericks days) and titles etc added.
    A Disc Image was created using iMovie.
    The disc image was opened and the Video TS folder was dropped onto Toast Titanium.  A DVD was burned at the lowest possible rate.
    2nd method:
    As above, the movie was shared to "File" resulting in the same .mov file.
    This file was dropped into Toast which encoded it (correctly using PAL) and, as above the DVD was burned at a low speed setting.
    In both cases the final DVD when viewed on a new iMac (the one which created the movie) has severe judder on virtually all panning shots and in movies created using Photo To Movie app.
    The same .mov movie viewed using QuickTime is far far  smoother in the above mentioned sequences.
    Can anyone please suggest where the problem may lie?
    Best,
    TonyT

    Thanks - I redid the project - used the DVD/hard drive as the source, checked using GSpot and found that the video did need an interlace change to reverse the field dominance (& did that), but the result still wasn't good, so I tried again & found the best solution was to burn with no interlacing at all.
    Checked the disc on 3 different DVD players & it worked great on all of them! Now I can get back to the old projects that had stalled.
    Appreciate your help.

    There's a program called "File Manager" that lets you move/copy and delete files from your device. It's usually under Tools.
    If you put videos in "My Videos" folder I think they don't show up in the Gallery. Also files in "Videos" don't show up in Video Center but they do in the Gallery.
    What do you mean "memory search"?,
    About the little shield, I have no idea what it means. I guess it's about the DRM protection, but I'm not 100% sure.
