Finished project now completely messed up even though I haven't touched it
Ok, so a couple weeks ago, I spent ages editing and perfecting a short video in iMovie. It turned out great, everything was fine. Today, I went on to watch the videos again and they are all messed up. Some bits are in the right places, with other footage that I didn't use at all mixed in in random places. Some footage that I had in the final cut was nowhere to be seen and replaced with bits I didn't use. The videos are still exactly the same running time, and I haven't edited anything in iMovie since those videos. I only have 3 projects in iMovie, and ALL of them now have this problem. Can anyone tell my why this happened and how it can be reverted back to how it was before (I know I could just edit the them again, but that is so much effort and I had it perfect before!).

Can be so much - One shoot out into the dark.
• Free space on Your internal Start-up Hard disk. How much ?
• Did You move/tush any folder named "iMovie Projects" or "iMovie Events"
if so - THAT is a NO NO - You might try to move them back to where they where before
any moving of them - Still not sure if it will help - Most often beyond repair.
Lesson. Any Library - connected to any part of iLife can not be moved without
a total mess as result.
Has to be done as Apple has designed it to be done - inside each application
eg iMovie, iPhoto etc.

My iPod Touch 4th Gen was running very slow, so after reading a blog, I doings clicked my home button and pressed the red button to stop some apps from running. It made my iPod work relatively faster, but my iMessages didn't seem to be working in the same way as they used to. It no longer alerts me when I have a message, even though I haven't touched my notification settings and my messages are always being automatically deleted. My iphone time keeps messing up even though its on "set automatically" and i dont know how to fix it

I'm having the EXACT same problem! I have a great wifi connection and it all started right after I updated it.
I took it to the AT&T store and all they said that they could do for it was a "soft restart" which is where you hold down the lock button and the home button UNTIL you see the apple logo. And I did this like 4 times and it still messes up. When I turn it off and turn it on its fine for a few minutes but it slowly starts messing up again.
And I'm also having several glitches. Like when I just received a text message when my phone was locked I slid it and put in my pass code then it like turned off and turned on my phone. And sometimes the messages that I send disappear from my side even though I sent them. If I turn it off then back on it's there. And also sometimes when I text a person and hit send it like backs me out of the messaging system(it still sends the message right then) and back to the home screen.
I called 1-800-myiphone and the lady did a "soft restart" which they call a "hard restart" and it worked for like 35 minutes and then it messed up again. And my iCloud isn't backing up my stuff so it's not like I can just completely reset my phone. -
iPhoto asked to upgrade library and has now come up empty even though my iPhoto file is over 130GB. How do I get back my photos? I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 with Mavericks. My iPhoto is 9.6. I am very concerned as this file has all my photos for the last 15 years!
If the iPhoto Library is still 130 GB large, your photos are probably still inside; perhaps the library has a corruption.
Or the iPhoto Library is on drive, that is incompatible with iPhoto. Where is your iPhoto Library stored?
To check for a library corruption: Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto library and select "Show Package Contents". This will show the folders inside the library package.
Are there folders called "Masters" or "Old Masters"?
If there is a folder "Old Masters", you are having a problem with recent bug, that corrupts iPhoto Libraries when upgrading. In that case, it would be best to restore your iPhoto Library from a backup you made before you upgraded to Yosemite.
Or, if no backup is available, copy the "old Masters" folder to a folder on your Desktop and create a new iPhoto library and import the Old Masters folder.
If there is no folder "old Masters" try to rebuild your iPhoto Library with the First Aid tools :
Make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library, but don't overwrite any older backups.
To launch the "First Aid Tools" hold down the options-command keys ⌥⌘ while double clicking your iPhoto Library.
Keep the keys held down firmly until the First Aid panel appears.
Select "Rebuild Database". -
while using my pad it suddenly stopped and stated that I neede to activate it. Now it wont activate even though it had already been activated. What do I do?
Everytime I try to do an activation it later tells me that it could not activate because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I ready to throw it.

MacBook Pro 10.6.8 My @me account has been wiped of all mail, will not send or receive and iCal will not recognise user name or password even though i haven't changed it. All this after a scheduled software update. Any ideas??

The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

Disks disappear from my desktop even though they haven't been ejected
This started happening a couple of days ago... Randomly, whatever CD is in the drive will disappear from my desktop even though I haven't ejected the CD. The only way I've been able to get it to reappear is by ejecting the CD and then re-inserting it.

I too have had this disappearing CD syndrome,,If it really worries you try the SMC route.

It sounds like maybe you installed a trial at some point in the past and trashed the application folder rather than doing an uninstall?

I suddenly recieved 6 'How to change your Apple ID password' emails, even though I haven't been on the Apple site in months....should I be concerned that someone is trying to use my account?
I wouldn't be too concerned. The most likely cause is that someone is attempting to login and made a mistake in entering their Apple ID and typing yours instead. So, they are getting an error and offer to reset their password. But the email that generates is being sent to the real owner of the Apple ID they are entering, you. If you are really concerned, you can go to the Apple support site and reset your password yourself to be on the safe side.

Brand new iPad 2 32GB with 3G. When I hooked it up to my computer, the capacity bar had 11.4GB full in the "other" category even though i haven't synced anything yet. What does the "other" category consist of and how can I fix this?
The iPad was sealed in the box when I got it. It had the plastic screen protector wrapped all around it and when I powered it on for the first time it displayed the "connect to iTunes for setup" message displayed. The only other thing I can think of is if the person I bought it from had ordered it through Verizon on and the iPad was set up on a number on his pre-existing verizon account. My question is should I just keep using it and consider myself lucky? Since there is no way for Verizon to charge me for the usage because I never signed a contract. I realize that if it is on the account belonging to the person I bought it from, they will eventually figure this out and shut it off. But I might as well use it in the meantime right?

After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-

Why does my files become messed up even though its arranged under 'name'?

Never apply updates w/o one.
And yes there is a page with all the Apple Downloads to do manually and then you can keep it on hand. Same for the OS X Lion or ML installer - save them before running. Still on 10.6.8 so you have OS X 10.6 DVD.
Combo updates do not do any harm. There could be issues to the drive directory beforehand.
Mac Pro has been shipping with Lion since summer 2011, though you can even now still reinstall iwth 10.6.4+ -
Why does Firefox want a reboot done to complete an update even though no update has been done?
Every time I try to start Firefox, it gives a message that a reboot is necessary to complete a previous update (I've rebooted 3 times). I decided I would uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it. When I try to uninstall Firefox, I get the same message about rebooting, so I am unable to uninstall.

Cloned 500GB HDD inT450S and Win8.1 to 1TB HDD, but now won't boot, even though HDD is seen
This concerns a new T450S; Win 8.1 Pro; I upgraded 4MB Ram to 12MB by adding Crucial Ballistix 8MB 1.2v DIMM, and everything worked as it should. Then, before any user files were created, I cloned the largest available 500GB Seagate (w/512KB sectors) from Lenovo to an aftermarket 1TB Seagate (w/4096KB sectors) using HDClone 5 Basic ($39 online). Cloning and conversion to larger sectors appeared to occur without incident. Ran Lenovo diagnostics on both the memory and storage and both passed. Now attempts to boot take me straight into setup "Boot" dialog and although the 1TB HDD is listed, arrow only points to PCI Lan (I assume this means the only bootable disc) and my attempts to switch to 1TB drive and pressing enter, end up after screen flash, to the same "Boot" dialog. Any Thoughts? I was thinking of re-installing old unmolested HDD and creating a recovery disc, then re-installing the new 1TB drive and then attempting to run recovery disc, but Lenovo case and HDD location not designed for repeated changes, so I thought I'd ask for help here first.
I was thinking the same. Seems like flipping the temp sensor cable fixes the poles as far as actual sensor detection by the SMC, but it must mess with the other jumper settings hence the no-boot issue. The annoying part is that my iMac already has the WD temp sensor, so theoretically it should be the correct cable :/
