"Finishing move to iCloud" mobile Me window is in a loop. Cannot stop it, close it nor sign out.

I have just moved from Mobile Me to iCloud and while it seems that the transfer was completed, the Mobile Me window " Finishing move to iCloud..." is in a loop. Closing it is not allowed, nor stopping it or signing out. Any tips how to solve this? Shuting down the Mac and restart? Is something unfinished?

That option has been there since day one. Nothing new. You just noticed it is all. Not everyone needs to worry about others accessing the computer, and that option just makes things a little easier. Also, the access is not open permanently.

My MobileMe preferences displayed a message reading: "Finishing move to iCloud…" Seven hours later it was still there and I was unable to quit system preferences. Mine did the same, on two different computers. I had a lot of data to migrate, so I thought it was just taking a long time. I let it cook overnight, and same thing in the morning, so force quit System Preferences it shall be.

I have the same problem and unfortunately the only way to get an iCloud ID is to set one up on an Apple device that uses the Apple OS opperating system. If you don't own one, or can't qfford one, then you are simply shut out of using the iCloud. Does it suck? Yes. Is there any solution other than buying an Apple device? No.

Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:

Hp g62 and windows 8.1- rebooting loop

I have a hp g62-b16st. It's a remarketed product with Intel core i3 2,4, 500GB HDD, 4gb RAM, integrated Intel HD graphics and dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon card (5470 hd I believe). This setting worked pretty well with 64-bit Windows 7 but recently I switched to windows 8.1 64-bit and now my hp isn't working. From what I gathered dedicated graphics drivers seem to be a problem. After installing updates, computer started to reboot itself continuosly. I restored windows to the state right after system installation and tried again- the same thing happened. Then I tried to install drivers from ATI- Catalyst Control Center didn't work. Every time I tried to install it (I downloaded multiple files, older and newer) I got the same failure of loading driver package. Then I found BETA drivers (amd-catalyst-14.6-rc2-windows-june23) and the restarting loop stoped but only due to the fact that ATI graphics weren't working properly and windows switched automaticaly to integrated Intel graphics.
That was all yesterday. Today, some update got downloaded and asked to restart my computer. when booting windows it said it is installing updates and I should wait for it to finish. Once it said 100% it started with the loop again. In safe mode I found out that windows figured out it is a good idea to install different driver that seems to be recognized as properly working one. And now the restarting loop is back. So I uninstalled that driver and disabled ATI graphic card for now but honestly I have no idea how to make win 8.1 work.
Oh, and I checked in BIOS- there is nothing I can do about it there.
Is there a way to make both graphic card and integrated graphics work on windows 8.1? If not, is there a way to turn ATI graphics entirely off?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP G62-b16ST Notebook and graphics not working correctly. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, The HP Support Assistant will do the updates for you. I would check the Microsoft Compatibility Center. Some systems are not able to update drivers for Windows 8. You could try this driver.

New Apple ID - how to sign out of iCloud to activate?

I have just purchased a new iMac and when setting up signed into iCloud using an existing account. As I have a new email address, I then went to apple.com and changed my apple ID successfully, which then threw up several error messages on the iMac from programs that were using it.
I then went to system preferences - iCloud which is still showing my old Apple ID and is asking me to verify my Apple ID password (which does not work with the new Apple ID)
Obviously I need to sign out and sign back in using my new Apple ID but when I hit the Sign Out button, after a minute or so of a "Signing out..." box appearing, Im getting an error message saying "Your iCloud account couldn't be removed at this time. Turn off all iCloud services and try again."
I have closed every application on the iMac, signed out of iTunes and App Store, what else is stopping me from signing out and logging back in using my new Apple ID?

Cannot change iCloud ID in iOS8 - Can't Sign Out without turning off Find My iPad - which needs the password for the old iCloud ID

I have read the older responses to questions re how to change the iCloud account from an old ID/email address (OLD ID) - to a new ID/email address (CURRENT ID). They all say go to Settings>iCloud - and Delete the iCloud account. In iOS 8 - there is no Delete - but there is a Sign Out. BUT - when I choose the Sign Out it shows a pop-up with the OLD iCloud ID - saying I must first sign IN to iCloud and enter a Password Required to turn off the Find My iPad feature.
I have tried using the password I remember as being correct for the OLD iCloud ID. Doesn't work.
I have tried using the password for the CURRENT ID - even though the pop-up has the OLD ID displayed. Doesn't work.
I'm out of ideas - except Reset??
Should I Reset All Settings?

I finally found a work-around in another thread on this Using iPad community. Basically, I had to first make sure that the Messages and Facetime were associated with the CURRENT/NEW ID. (I could do this by simply erasing the OLD ID and typing in the new - in General>Messages and General>Facetime. I then used by PC to change my Apple ID back to the OLD ID/EMAIL - but leave the new password alone.
I then went back to Settings>iCloud - clicked on Sign Out. When it asked me to log on -- with the OLD ID/EMAIL -- to turn off the Find My Phone - I did so using the Password that was originally used with the CURRENT/NEW ID. This worked. So I finally was able to close out of the iCloud account that used the OLD ID/EMAIL.
I then went back on my PC to change my Apple ID back to the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
I then went back to the iPad Settings>iCloud - and signed on using the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
So everything is OK now.
WHEW!!!
Not sure why this has to be so difficult. But thanks everyone for your suggestions.

In order to sign out of your Apple ID on your iPad, follow the steps in this article -
iTunes Store settings - iPhone
If you are using iCloud, you will also want to go into Settings > iCloud > select Sign Out, the last item on the page.

I have forgotten my password for my iCloud account, so I made a new one and plan to replace my old one. In the settings my notes aren't checked with green, so I was wondering if they will be deleted if I sign out?

If you sign out of iCloud, all your iCloud data will disappear from your phone, including notes. It will still be in iCloud in the existing account and will reappear on your phone if you sign back in. If you aren't signing back into your existing iCloud account, you'll need to take steps to back up your data before signing out if you want to keep it. Probably a silly question. I am running Snow Leopard and for a couple of days have not been able to send mail from my long-time Apple email account. I have started the move from Mac/Mobile Me email to iCloud, when all I really need is to enable the iCloud SMTP server, I think.
When I was a few steps into the move, I reached the point where I had to either "continue" with my current email address/password, or create a new email account If I follow Apple's direction and "add" an account with my core user info, will I end up with "my" account as iCloud, but with my current account's email "vanished?"
I go back far enough that my Apple user name is not an email address, and my email address is dot.Mac, and I'd like to keep it that way, but right now I just want to be able to "send." Since my problem began I have been writing and then saving emails on my iMac, then opening them on my iPad or iPhone and sending the emails from those devices. Thank heaven for IMAP!!!!

[email protected] [email protected] and [email protected] are all the same thing: emails to all three go to the same inbox. You must presumably have gone through the migration process from MobileMe to iCloud before 1 August last, or you would have lost access to the account. However if you didn't set up Mail for the different iCloud server settings I wouldn't have expected to go on working this long.
In any case, I would suggest you delete the account from Mail (this won't delete anything on the server) and set it up again from scratch following the process described in this illustrated article:

iCloud does not provide any equivalent hosting service: you will need to find a third-party provider. Any web hosting service should be OK, and there's plenty of choice.
Hopefully you have local copies of these files as well as the ones on the iDisk; if not you need to be copying them down as soon as possible or you will lose them at the end of June.

How can I move to iCloud without Lion, Vista or Windows 7, even though I have an iPad?

I want to move to iCloud for use with my iPad 2, but have no plans at the moment to upgrade my laptop or desktop to Lion. My work computer is stuck at Windows 5, so that's not an option. If I do nothing, will my email still remain available until which time I decide to upgrade to Lion? I tried today to choose that option on my work computer, but it just kicked me into iDisk. Could they (or I) do this at an Apple store?

The best way to do things is to use sync. If you wish do use other methods it would become complicated.
