Fios 1 in New York City

Hi. I live in Queens Village, NY. I signed up to Verizon 3 years ago. I was told at the time that Verizon 1 which is a local channel based in Long Island would be included. After installation, I had no Verizon 1. The channel is offered on the Verizon mobile app, in Brooklyn which is in the opposite direction and in some areas in Queens. I live 3 minutes from Elmont, Long Island and can not understand why It's not offered to viewers in my neighborhood. Please look into fixing this problem.

Time warner cable drop CBS in new york city and Los angeles And dallas

I also tried now using an Airport Express (firmware version 6.3) as my main router and I have the same problems described above.
The firmware version for the Apple Extreme is 7.3.2

Poor audio quality on calls (New York City)

The audio quality for my calls has always been poor. Recently I heard that that is typical for iPhones in New York City. Is that right?
In my experience the most advanced phone in the world sure does sound like a tin-can telephone.

i have read press reports about generally dismal 3g quality in NY on the at&t network... i don't think it is limited to iphones, but all 3g phones. since you posted this in original iphone section i am guessing you are on the original iphone which uses the 2g network... i remember reading at&t was reassigning some frequencies that was causing some with 2g phones to experience some issues, i will post the link if i can find it!

Oracle SQL/ Excel Visual Basic Consulting Opportunity in New York City

Is anyone interested in a consulting opportunity?
I am marketing director for a catalog/internet business in Manhattan. I am running Oracle 9.2i . We use the datawarehouse for many marketing/merchandising reports. I have SQL code embedded in Excel workbooks using an ODBC interface. The SQL code gets the data and then I have a lot of Visual Basic macros that run and create the reports.
I need someone to come in and help me optimize the queries and macros (since I am self-taught on both SQL and VB there is LOTS of room for improvement).
Since some of the reports are popular, I am getting overwhelmed with requests for new reports and it is taking time away from my marketing responsibilities.
If anyone out there is interested, please let me know

New York City 3G Network- AT&T is the main problem not the phone

After weeks of using the iPhone in NYC, I am incredibly disappointed at the 3G data speeds/availability on AT&T's 3G network.
I originally wasn't sure whether the problem was the iPhone or AT&T (or a combination). But I have noticed that there is an enormous difference in 3G speeds during the day vs. at night at the same exact locations, even if you have 5 bars of 3G reception. The city has a high iPhone density and it seems AT&T are in over their heads.
During the day I get very slow data speeds, less than half of what I get at night in the same location. The constant reverting to EDGE, according to a Business Week article, is apparently due to the fact that the iPhone first tests available 3G bandwidth in your location before it connects to the 3G network. If the system is overloaded, even if you get 5 bars of 3G reception, it could be dumping you into EDGE. This especially happens to me when I travel to midtown and other areas of high density vs. when I am close to more residential areas. The locations I go to are capable of delivering 5 bars of 3G, it just depends what time of day it is and whether the system is dumping you back into EDGE.
I know there are many bugs/issues with the phone but as far as the 3G/data networking part, my personal experience is that AT&T seems to own most of the blame.

This pretty much renders my iphone useless during the day because hotmail times out and other web sites. I changed to iphone from sprint instinct because of network issues.
Last night I recommended a Blackberry to someone asking for a recommendation. I'll continue to do that for quite some time.

I'm having the same problem in Hampton Roads, Virginia. MTV works (though most stuff looks like SD, and is in 4:3) and Comedy Central and VH1 will either continue to show the previous channel's stuff, or it'll just give me the "channel unavailable" message.

Is 3G completely down in New York City?

Starting last night, 3g has completely died on me. My apartment is on 12th street. My office is in Times Square. No 3g reception in either place. Edge works. Is it just me or is anyone else having these issues?

Nathan C, Please refer to the several hundred POSTS in this forum relating to the recent 2.02 software release from Apple that has cause many of us to experience no 3G connectivity. It has improved the ability to receive calls and no drop as many. BUT it has cause the 3G data service not to function. Reboot the device doesn't work the solution is either switch OFF the 3G service or downgrading the firmware back to 2.01 I've done my research before i posted and the only reason i even joined the apple forum was due to my 3G data issues and to discover i'm not the only one affected.

If the past is any indicator, physical Apple Stores tend to have FCS in-stock about 4 business days after the announcement. When FCS upgrades were announced the Sun prior to NAB, most of the NYC-area Apple Stores tended to have boxes in stock that Thursday.
Of course, a BIG hassle was many stores only having the full retail (non-upgrade) box in stock. I was lucky last time (2 years ago) to be able to pick up the FCS2 upgrade at the Roosevelt Field Mall Apple Store (of all places), after the (24-hour) 5th Ave store only had the retail boxes.
In other words, as already advised, call before you head out...

Atlantic City, NJ and New York, NY calling area

I have search the Internet for this and have not had any real luck.
What is the local calling area for Atlantic City, NJ and New York, NY, that will not occur long distance charges.
Mainly for Atlantic City, I'm worried about if Ocean City, Wildwood, and Ventnor City are all included or not.
For New York, NY, I just need to know if the whole city local, I would assume, but New York, is setup completely different than most cities I've seen, with 5 boroughs in a city and it being fairly large with multiple area codes.
Also, all this would be the exact same at a Verizon or possibly others payphone as well as just a Verizon landline correct?

Same thing happened to me. It doesn't even matter if you ask explicitly for the weather in NYC.
I asked for the weather in "New York City" and got the results for New York, TX.
I then asked for the weather in "New York City, New York" and got the same results for New York, TX.
Than I asked "What is the weather today in New York City in the state of New York?" and got the weather for New York, TX.
I asked for "Manhattan, New York" and got the weather for TX.
But when I asked for the weather in Brooklyn... I got the weather for Brooklyn, OH.
Pretty impressive.
