FIOS mobile remote dvr manager doesnt work on my tablet

Can anyone explain to me why the fios mobile remote DVR  manager won't work on my Nexus 10, claiming that my user ID or password isn't recognized when I know its the correct username and password?  The remote control part works just fine, and I'm on my in home wifi as provided by my verizon supplied router.  My Galaxy Nexus has no problem at all with a mobile remote and DVR manager.  It seems to me, that if the thing more or less works you should at least be able to login regardless of which Android platform I'm running it on.

You might want to contact the developers of the application directly for your question. You can also try the Verizon Residential Forum http://forum.verizon.com to ask the other users of the DVR manager.

  • Unable to use FiOS Mobile Remote App on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

I'm one of the holdout Blackberry customers who Verizon doesn't recognize as wanting apps anymore.  I finally broke down and bought an Android tablet device when I saw the FiOS Mobile Remote App and recognized it as an easy solution for controling my multiple HD STBs in my "Man Cave".  Unfortunately, the app has been completely useless.
The app loads fine.  I'm able to register each HD STB with the app, however doing anything more than the initial set-up for the remote function results in a crash.  Every time I attempt to use it, I get the message "Unfortunately, FiOS Remote has stopped."  I will occassionally see the attempted connection displayed on the corner of my TV screen.
All other functions of the app work, including the DVR function.
I've reported this failure for months, using the handy little report button below the crash message.  No response.
I've commented on this topic in threads from other users with the same problem.  No response.
I've posted to the comments section of the Google Play store.  No response.
Please, would someone from Verizon acknowledge this problem exists?  My best theory so far is that my tablet device is not on a Verizon data plan (WiFi only), so therefore Verizon isn't interested in supporting it (or this loyal customer).
Device is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7.0, running Android 4.0.4.  All FiOs STBs replaced with latest generation.

I am sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with the app. We try to make the app as compatible with all devices as possible. The full list of devices the mobile remote is compatible with is https://www22.verizon.com/OnDemand/unprotected/AboutFlexView.aspx   . You may find there may be devices that do work with it that re not on the list, but these are all verified working devices with the app. Since yours doesn't appear to be on the list, we can not gaurantee it will work. Submitting all the feedback has gotten word back to Verizon about the troubles you are having. You can also submit this to the Verizon Idea Exchange. How can I get the app working?

I installed my new DVRs last night and tried to reactive the Mobile Remote app, but got the same error. I wonder if they're having issue with the app (so it's probably not just you).

  • FiOS Mobile Remote for Android

I already called tech support and troubleshooted it but as a warning for Galaxy Nexus users... FiOS Mobile remote does not work with Android 4.2.  app tries to log in but says username and password are incorrect even if using correct credentials.

I have the same issue on my Nexus 7.  I sent an email to the address posted here.  We'll see if anything happens.

  • Remote DVR will not work?

I signed up for FIOS when it first came to my area. Verizon installed a basic Netgear router. I since upgraded to a wireless Netgear router about 4 years ago. We just upgraded our DVR to a Home Media and tried to turn on the remote DVR. But when I go to the web site it says remote DVR will not work without original Verizon router. I don't understand why it won't work. Is there a setting or something in the router to make it work or do I need a different router that Verizon has to provide? I am guessing the original router I had wouldn't work either because it is the same brand as the one I have now.

Called and got a Westell router today. Got it all hooked up and internet and TV are working fine but I still can't activate remote DVR. The DVR has an access code listed, tells me to go to the website and sign in with my verizon.net id. I do and I still get the error remote DVR not possible with third party router. Any more help?

  • Widgets not showing up on TV screen - esp FIOS Mobile Remote app

When I press Wdigets on my remote - the tool bar appears on top of the tv screen.  However, when scrolling through, some of the Widgets appear w/ blank information.
I want to install the FIOS mobile tv remote and that widget also does not appear to be in my options.
Should I reset my box?  How can I fix?
    Jessica

    Hi Jessica,
The FiOS mobile remote widget is located inside the main FiOS TV widget menu.  This should be the first screen you see up top when you hit the Widgets button on your remote.  Once you hit OK, go down to 'Featured' and you should see the mobile remote widget on the right.  If you are still having trouble with the widgets screen displaying blank information, you can reset your box in one of two ways.  You can unplug it from the power for 30 seconds, or if the power cord is difficult to get to, hit menu on the FiOS remote, go down to 'Customer Support' then to 'In-Home Agent' then 'Reboot Set-Top Box', hitting OK here will have your box cycle through.  Then try the Widgets again, if you are still having trouble feel free to PM me.

  • FIOS mobile remote control feature suddenly stopped working

The remote control feature in the new FIOS Mobile app was working superbly this morning and now it doesn't recognized either of my STBs. Any solutions?
    Thanks

Some nokia made remotes have a small battery inside (the one that's supplied with the N95 does) and it may have run out.
If you don't want to open the remote to check then you should take it to a nokia care point/service centre.

  • Unable to use Fios Mobile Remote with Droid phone

I go through mobile remote registration and i keep getting a message that says "sms error   unable to process your request at this moment, please ry again. If the problem continues, please try restarting your set-top box ".   I have rebooted and tried tech support and have been unable to resolve the concern.  Has anyone had this similar issue resolved?  Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hey jsolis, did the mobile remote work for you before check if the STB is getting an ip address if its not then unplug the power cord and unscrew the coax cable for 10secs rescrew the coax cable then plug the power cord back in after the reset try it again.  If that does not work then delete the app on the phone and download it again.

  • DVR Manager not working

I have been told by different Comcast employees that (1) the DVR Manager won't work with my box, that (2) it should work with my box, and (3) that the problem is that I have only the economy Digital Starter Plan.  My box (DCX 3400) is not on the list of incompatible boxes.   Does anyone know the answer?   I am at my wits end.

Are you referring to the WEB DVR programming or from an app? If you still need help please post the error message you are getting.

  • FIOS Mobile App - Wireless Does Not Work

    Hello all,
I am trying to use the new FIOS Mobile app on my Android tablet. This should allow me to watch some live TV, however when I try to connect to a channel it tells me I need to be connected to my broadband router.
In my setup at home my FiOS broadband router does not handle wireless connections, only wired. I have a separate wireless AP that does this. Why should it matter where I get my wireless connection from, as long as I am connected?
    Help.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Someone may have thought this was a great idea, but it's very frustrating to download an app, know that you meet all the criteria for using it, then be unable to use it because the app is unable to differentiate successfully that you are, in fact, on you home network. There's one router in my home, it's a Verizon router, and the app should be smart enough to know this. It's obvious that this app was rushed out without a throrough enough suite of tests, because something this simple should not happen. Is there a ticket in place for this? Is the application support group actively trying to rectify this problem? I'll give Verizon a while to sort it out, but this doesn't please me.
Send the developers an email at [email protected]  I'm fairly confident they don't monitor this site.  If they don't hear from enough people like you with this issue, they won't fix it.  So please notify them of your issue.  Many are complaining on the Google Play app user reviews about the same problem you have.  You can see then on the Google Play site by accessing the site via a PC.

  • Remote DVR Management from Internet and Blackberry app - not working

So I downloaded the app for my phone, and logged in online.
when i go to "recorded programs", the list never populates. this happens on my phone and online. i'm not home, and i wnated to erase some shows to make room. is there something i need to do on the box itself or on the router at home?

Has it ever worked?  You may want to shut down your router and STB's.  Then you will want to turn on the router, wait and then turn on the STB.  See if this resolves the issue.

  • FIOS Mobile Remote

I was excited to see this but I can't get it work.  The phone never connects to the STB.
I've gone into the widget and registerd my device.  I've started the app on my Droid and put my name and last 4.  The phone attempts to connect but spins for a while and finally comes back the unable to connect message.
Oddly, on the TV, right when I connect I get a popup dialog.  The dialog is titled Wifios and has one row in it with the word VARA (which is not the name I entered on the phone).  The only option to select for the VARA row is Yes.  I click it (or don't) and there is no effect.  So, it seems like the phone is connecting to something but it is not doing it completely or correctly.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled and tried different orders of going into the widget and the phone app.  Nothing works.
Anyone else seeing this?  Does anyone have a list of steps that should work?

I cannot connect either, but I think my problem is my wireless subnet is different than the DVRs. I have a DLink router on my side of the Westell MoCA router. The DLink serves my home for DHCP and a LinkSys WAP is attached to the DLink to serve Wifi throughout the house.
This arreangement also keeps my DVRs from seeing Media Manager running on one of my servers. I temporarily put the server directly on the Westell and it was visiable from the DVR, so I know it works. I just need time to re-organize my network to put it all on the common subnet of the Westell.

    Welcome to the Arch forums!
Your post does a good job providing a very basic idea of what is going on, but unfortunately not much more than that.  More information is required in order to properly diagnose this issue.  You should check if there are error messages in the journal, or any other indications as to why things might be failing.  Your computer typically makes an attempt at telling you what is going wrong.
From what you have posted though, it kind of sounds like you are trying to use two network management services at the same time.  If you use wifi-menu, you are essentially using the ncurses front end to netctl.  Netctl is basically just a collection of scripts that wrap the most basic networking tools.  If this is in use, then networkmanager is bound to fail as you then have two services competing (and likely failing) to control that hardware.
Check to see if you have more than one service trying to handle things.  You can run systemctl with no arguments to see everything that systemd wants to start.  Though if you use systemctl --type=service then you can have it tell you only about services (as opposed to all unit types, like mount, automount, device, socket files and more).
