Fios Network Terminal power consumption

Hello,
Does anyone know how much power my Alcatel lucent ( I 211m h ) (3fe51852aaac) Fios network terminal uses.
We live in a multi-family house situation, and the other party pays for basement power, where the box is plugged in.
Thank you very much.

mileage definetely varies from install to install, but here are a few links that will get you pretty close to the answer your looking for.

  • [Solved] High power consumption of eth0

    Hi everyone,
i successfully installed Arch on my new Acer Travelmate P653-MG a few months ago with the Gnome DE. Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago, when i discovered a really hard power regression due to my network interface. Before i had a solid 12 W of power consumption (without that much of finetuning), but afterwards my power consumption jumped to 23-25 W. I have attached two screenshots of my current powertop output:
    http://i.imgur.com/8tpSnXf.png
    http://i.imgur.com/CaVg61A.png
Unfortunately i can't quite say when this regression occured, so as to point to a certain update. My first guess was, this had to be kernel specific, but the downgrade from kernel 3.7 to 3.6 brought no results. I must admit after hours of searching google, the arch wiki and the forum here, i'm at a complete loss. I have discovered no one with a similar problem.
If anyone can help me in this matter, your help would be very much appreciated!
My current kernel parameters are: quiet splash nmi_watchdog=0 acpi_osi=linux acpi_backlight=vendor
Please tell me any outputs i can provide which could be of help to you.
    Greetings

Thanks for your suggestions, but i was finally able to figure it out myself. linux-lts was unfortunately no option for me, as i want to use bumblebee. But the direction, this pointed me to was good. It seems one of the kernel updates broke my bumblebee package, so the power management didnt work and the card was constantly powered on. This was nothing new, but my powertop completely messed it up, by adding this additional power consumption to eth0. Funny enough, this power consumption even disappeared, when i unloaded eth0. After deleting powertops saved results and recalibrating it, it now shows up all components power usage correctly.
Thus i mark this thread as SOLVED.

  • [SOLVED] Huge power consumption after kernel upgrade.

    Dear All,
I have recently bought the new lenovo thinkpad X1 equipped with a Core I5 processors and 4GB of RAM.
I am quite satisfied with this machine except for the fact that the fan is extremely loud (but perhaps a bios upgrade will fix problem).
    Now my problem:
When I first installed Arch (first days of August) I ran powertop and the power consumption was around 10 Watts when idle with wifi card turned off.
Now, after some upgrades, the power consumption raises to 18W in idle and consequently the battery lasts less than 2h.
    Here my current configuration:
    Linux think-x1 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Aug 30 08:53:25 CEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

As far as I'm concerned, the kworker process is responsible most of the wakeups.
    Any ideas?

  • Esoteric topic - power consumption

Got out my Kill A Watt meter tonight to get an idea of the actual power consumption of the MacPro and peripheral. Tomorrow I'll use the cumulative reading for an hour with the computer, monitor, and speakers on to calculate $/hr - I expect it will be higher than I would have thought.
    MacPro alone: 335 watt (~ 2.80 amp)
    MacPro sleep: .13 amp
    MacPro off: .08 amp
    Samsung 24" LCD, SyncMaster 245BW
    on: .44 amp, 52 watt
    sleep: .01 amp
Speakers, KRK Rokit 5 Studio Monitors, self powered
    on: .13 amp, 16 watt each, X2= .26 amp,32 watt
So, the total current to run the computer, monitor, and speakers is 419 watts, or exactly the power of 7 ea. 60 watt light bulbs. No wonder it gets warm in the computer room. Much more power than I thought, and will get me thinking of getting it and the monitor to sleep more often, and put in a switch for the speakers rather than leave them on 24/7.
Tomorrow I'll leave it all on for one hour in cumulative mode, then figure out cost/hr. based on our cost of electricty KWH written on our electric bill.
My wife did say she thought the electric bill had gone up a little since we got this new computer. Lets blame it on Leopard <g>
    John F

Good topic. I'm actually thinking about putting all my networking gear (firewall, cable router) and speakers on one power strip and turning it off at night. My MBP is set to sleep after an hour of non-use and I sold off all my windoze gear. I doubt my Time Capsule is designed to be shut on and off every day, so I'll probably leave that on.
My goal is to reduce as much power consumption when I'm not at home or asleep.
    Thanks for the post!

  • Monitor outlet power consumption

I'm interested in monitoring power consumption at specific outlets in a facility using Labview and NI DAQ systems. Essentially what I'd like to do would be to use one specific outlet as a monitoring point for all the rest of the outlets in a facility or connected to that circuit. I'd like to be able to create a network map of the outlets to be monitored by sending some sort of signal back to the monitoring DAQ so I can label each outlet specifically and then keep monitoring it continuously to see how much power is being consumed at that outlet. Any suggestions on how I can approach this problem or if this is feasible? Thanks!

    Lynn,
Thanks for the help. I'll do my best to clarify.
My hope was that if I could create a type of network diagram or circuit map for a facility, or even simpler than that, for a room in a facility, that I coud monitor power consumption at any of the outlets from one single outlet. The basic data I'd like initially would be energy consumption/kWh data for what is consumed at that specific outlet. The accuracy can be just down to the .1 kWh and I'd like to be able to view the data at something like 5 minute intervals, maybe down to the minute.
A simple hypothetical exaple of what I'd want to do would be to take a room in a lab. Lets say I've got a DAQ hooked up to one outlet for monitoring. On the other side of the lab a cooler is plugged into another outlet. I'd like to measure the consumption or energy usage of that cooler at the monitoring outlet without having to add any equipment to where the cooler is plugged in, like a wattmeter. I thought this might be possible by using sending some type of signal from the cooler outlet to initially "map" the circuit (ie some type of AM signal on top of the power signal). But then I didn't know if it would be possible to keep monitoring that outlet and others with other equipment attached to them just from my monitoring point and without wattmeters, etc.
It sounds like you're saying this is not possible. So if I had to have something plugged into each outlet I wanted to monitor what could I use for a room that is simplest and cheapest? Any further info is helpful and I'll keep trying to clarify, I've done a lot of DAQ work before but not really much involving monitoring power like this. Thanks!

  • [Request] cryogenic kernel module to reduce power consumption

    Hi there,
I found a very interesting kernel module to reduce power consumption. It is called cryogenic:
Cryogenic is a Linux kernel module that allows to reduce energy consumption by means of enabling cooperative clustering of I/O operations among the various applications that make use of the same hardware device. In order to achieve this target, Cryogenic provides an API that enables applications to schedule I/O operations on SCSI and network devices at times where the impact the operations have on energy consumption is small.
    https://gnunet.org/cryogenic
Is someone interested in packaging this for the AUR?
    Thanks!

What part of that document led you to think it would automagically reduce power consumption without application support?
I saw that document (and it is the same as your first post... 106 pages..meh), all points me to (still) think that applications have to explicitely support cryogenic to take advantage from it, is pretty clear:
    Page 28
In this section we present the way developers should use Cryoge nic’s API in order to
benefit from its capabilities . We illustrate with examples the code that must be added to modify the behaviour of any application and give a clearer idea of the execution flow .
Did you read that document, yes?

  • Power consumption with 5 Cisco CISCO AP1131G etc.

    Hello everyone
I need to calculate our Cisco's network equipment's total max power consumption to choose UPS model.
We have following equipments in house.
CISCO 1941 integrated service router with WIC-1T-Use serial interface card (it says max 110w)
CISCO ASA5505 Firewall (it says max 96w)
Linksys slm224p unknown Wattage with 5 Cisco access Point AP1131G (18w each) connected through PoE ports
There is spec sheet of slm224P which doesn't specify it's own power consumption. (attached PDF)
On rear panel of SLM224p it says 3A,  if this is his consumption being connected to 220v power line, it might consume 660W
but it seems too much for a single switch without PoE ?
Any idea or comments would be appreciated.

  • My Sling Player Does Not Work Remotely on Fios Networks

My sling box is set up locally on a high speed internet in LA.
I have not been able to use my sling player remotely on any FIOS Network.
Other friends have used my computer to connect to their Sling Box and it has worked fine, BUT their Sling Boxes are set up locally on FIOS networks. Mine is on DSL.
btw, it does work remotely on a cable network.
    My question is,
"why would sling player not work remotely on a FIOS network, when the sling box is set up locally on a DSL line?"
"Are there any settings that I could change on the local router that would make this problem go away?"
BTW my router is Westell A90
    Thanks

Sound like you don't have port forwarding enabled in your Westell A90 for the slingbox.
You would need to go into admin on the Westell router and enable port forwarding for the relevant port to the ipa address of the slingbox.  I believe some slingboxes can attempt to do this for you in their configuration.

  • 3000 J converted to NAS, Are there fan control settings/ways to reduce power consumption?

So I've had this old 3000 J series - (J115 7388) that's been sitting doing nothing for a while, so I decided to convert it into a FreeNAS, I've stripped out the DVD, card readers, anything unneccesary to reduce power usage - on that theme I have a few questions...
    1. Is there a setting in the BIOS to automate the fans as & when needed to make the system quieter & to reduce power consumption - there will be 2x 2tb WD green drives in there with an idle time of 5 mins, atm I'm using one 320GB HDD from an old laptop - the system won't be used 90% of the time & I'd like it to be able to react when needed rather than constantly be on
the specs http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-67129 say the fan is variable, but I can't see anything obvious in the BIOS, it did take me some time to find the boot order, so maybe I'm overlooking something
So that's my main question & this is the bonus
    2. I know there's an Nvidia C51G chipset in there somewhere, is it possible to remove this, there's no GUI on the pc anymore, so again, & also anything else like sound, just to make it as efficient as possible & not to have any unessesary components using power
I have downloaded updated the latest BIOS (circa 2007) onto another pc from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001014 - even if it does provide an update to what I already have - I did note 2007 already on the BIOS version, of course I can't run it to try to make a bootable usb as the downloaded exe is for XP
I'm having a little trouble with the Lenovo site UI, not sure if it's coding - the links to guides/docs/drivers/downloads on http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/default.page?selector=expand just don't seem to be working for me

Are you sure there are no trojans or viruses on laptop? Also lounch the task manager and check out the service or application with deranged CPU loading while the laptop is in the idle mode. What is the power usage in the idle mode?

  • Powermanager 1.60 has removed the abilty to show the current power consumption in the tray.

    Hi,
well the topic says it. Powermanager 1.60 has removed the abilty to show the current power consumption in the tray.
I realy frustrated right now, why the heck did they remove this nice feature?
And this new energy slider is just trash. If i change back to advanced mode, i cant see my current power consumption. Nor in the main battery tab. The field "Current Power" is just blank. And the option in the tray vanished.
What the **bleep** are these guys doing. There was a time i fought this powermanger is the best software ibm/lenovo ever produced, but since the change of the ui, and removing important features. Its unbeliveable.
Especialy if you are on windows xp, this looks like **bleep**, and this "new" gauge desgin, flickers and stops my mouse on hower over the new "Design".
    a frustrated,
    R61 user.

you should try uninstalling & re install it http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70602

  • Which is better in term of power consumption for L...

    Hello!
I would like to know in terms of power consumption which connection type should I use on my Lumia 1020. 4G LTE or 3G. I'm not a person who watches movies on his smartphone, and I don't browse the Internet intensively using my smartphone. I use it to take pictures, check my e-mails, access Facebook, Twitter, Instagram  and Flickr.
    Thank you.

3G is in general less power hungry.

  • Cisco 2951 router AC-PoE power consumption, meaning of the mention "Platform Only" in the datasheet.

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the power consumption of a Cisco 2951 router with an AC-PoE power supply (without PoE boost).
In fact in the table (n°7) of the Cisco 2900 Series ISR (G2) datasheet, that sum up the power consumption data for Cisco 2900 series routers there is the line : "Maximum Power with PoE Power Supply (Platform Only) (Watts)", and I would like to know what is exactly the meaning about the mention "Platform Only".
Thank you for your help, best regards,

    Hi @francois.trarieux,
This is the maximum power that is consumed exclusively by the router from the PoE PS (Power Supply). The power capacity that the PoE PS gives to other PoE devices (IP Phones, Cameras, APs, etc) is specified in the line below "Maximum End-Point PoE Power  Available from PoE Power Supply (Watts)" of the datasheet.
    HTH.

  • 2011 MacBook Pro hard drive power consumption

Does anyone know the differences in power consumption between the Apple-supplied 750GB 5400rpm HDD, 500GB 7200rpm HDD, and 256GB SSD drives?  I'm currently using a 2011 MacBook Pro with an Apple-supplied 256GB SSD and I'm getting between 5-8 hours of battery life, depending on what I'm doing.  I wish it could get closer to a full 10-hour battery life for longer trips, but I realize there's a price for performance.  What's the best hard drive option to minimize power consumption?  Are there any other tips for increasing battery life?  Does it make a difference if you turn off Bluetooth and WiFi when you know you're not going to be able to use them?  Thank you in advance for your reply.

Yes, turn Wi-Fi and BT off when not needed. That and your screen are the biggest power consumers. Keep the brightness as low as you can to conserve power.
