FIOS NYC FIOS 1 Update and others ?? October 2009 Update
Any one know about if FIOS1 will have a channel in NYC ? Im tiold the end of the year , anyone have an update ?
I hear FIOS Digital Voice will launch in NY on Sept 30 .
Awaiting also news on MSG HD and MSG + HD and whether or not it will be on FIOS and will be a factor of me going back to Verizon or staying with Time Warner Cable as I await their Mobile services for NY in 2010 .
Already have VOIP with TWC, 4 NY RSN HD, NY 1, NY 1 (Staten Island Programming) and Staten Island Local Programming . Missing is mobile
It has definitely nothing to do with the card. As I said, I had successfully imported all photos from the camera in mid October, added locations, watched a diashow and published an album of that event on MobileMe.
One thing I remember: Two weeks ago I had the MacBook at a friend's place, importing a couple of photos just for a diashow. After the show I closed the MacBook (very likely) without quiting iPhoto and put it back into the bag. Maybe the library got corrupted at this point? Maybe iPhoto was still writing data during the shutdown, or something.
For documentaion sake: I have deleted the corrupted album in Photo yesterday. Emptying the trashbin afterwards made iPhoto (and eventually the entire OS) freezing again, so I had to manually kill and restart iPhoto. After restarting iPhoto the trashbin contained a couple of placeholders and photos of the corrupted album. Emptying the trashbin worked fine the second time.
How can I check the entire library for data integrity?
Why on earth is the entire OS freezing for minutes when Finder is trying to read a corrupted image file? There should be presented an error message to the user immediately.

Hi,
I can't open D7200 NEF files with Photoshop CS6.I checked the updates and there are no updates available. What do I do?
NitinFor the time being, shoot JPEG images. At this time there is no support for NEF files from the D7200 in any Adobe product. It was released at such a time that it wasn't included in the last Camera Raw update. And Lightroom hasn't been updated either. Consequently, there is no DNG converter available at this time. We will have to wait and see what programs will be able to accommodate the D7200 when Adobe releases updates or upgrades that support the camera.

I need to restore my ipad but it won't restore because the software isn't updated and you can't update the software because it is in recovery mode. What do I do know?
I would take it to the apple store to get recovery mode taken off.

OS X Yosemite v10.10.3 Update - I had problems with my iMac after installing the previous update and I removed that update. Have there been problems associated with this update ?
I've been using it on all of my computer without any problems. Remember you won't see any positive comments here. Everyone here is complaining about a problem. If you want a good experience with any upgrade or update first make a backup from which you can boot the computer. If you are installing an update, like 10.10.3 for example, always download and install the Combo Updater - OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update. Before you install any update or upgrade over an existing system you should do this:Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu. -
ATI Radeon HD 2600 firmware update and others
Hi all,
About a month ago my 1 month old 2.4 imac was replaced with the 2.66 on account of noise after the firmware update. I do have quite a few software updates now and I am a bit concerned about updating them. I am also very new to using a MAC.
1. ATI Radeon HD2600 which updates the firmware ( I have absolutely no problems with graphics)
should I leave well enough alone and NOT update.
2. Mac OSX update to 10.5.3 (I am not having any issues now running 10.5.2}
3. Airport Utility 5.3.2 and airport base station Agent (is this what is built into my computer?]
4 iTunes 7.6.2
5. Quicktime 7.5
6 Pro Application Update 2006-02 { I do not have any of the programs that this update mentions}
Has anyone updated any of these same updates and experienced problems. Have not seen posts concerning the Radeon Update
I have been reading some posts about the 10.5.3
Just wondering if I should leave well enough alone and not do any of these. Computer has been great so far.
Thanks in advance.
Message was edited by: iJancyThese are varied and different updates that you have listed all together; one is an update for the graphic hardware on your Mac, a few are updates to Mac OS X itself and lastly there are a couple which update individual applications/technologies on your Mac.
Do you have a clone backup of your Mac's current situation? If so, with the exception of the hardware update, implementing each update individually would allow you to evaluate the update and "roll back" to your clone if it was unsatisfactory.
Bare in mind that future updates to Mac OS X or the primary applications/technologies on your Mac may well require that these previous updates have been installed. There is the possibility that Software Update will not notify/alert you of an update available because the previous update has not been installed.
I have every update/upgrade applicable to my particular iMac model installed. I have no issues and have never had any issues. -
CC (2014) Photo Program and other CS6 apps - Updates for CS6 to CC (2014)?
I have the CS6 Design & Web Premium apps installed, plus the Creative Cloud Photo Program option (PS and LR).
With the new CC (2014) release today I'm being offered CC (2014) updates for all the CS6 programs that I have that aren't in the Photo Program (i.e. Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, etc). Surely this isn't right. Shouldn't it be asking if I want to Install or Try them rather than providing an update?
If I go ahead and update will it start charging me more? Its a bit confusing!I installed all the updates, including the CC 2014 programs. I am not being charged for them. However, they are not updates to the other programs. I now have 2 versions of all my CS6 programs installed on my computer. The CC 2014 programs are now default, for some reason, and when I open them they ask me if I want to start a free trial or if I want to put in a license code. My CS6 code doesn't work, obviously, but I tried anyway. I'm a little annoyed that this was offered to me like it was an update for my programs, even though it wasn't. And if I uninstall them, I am afraid that it is going to tell me that I have "updates" and try to install these programs again.

The update and other problems PLEASE HELP!!!
The ovi store on my phone asked me to download the newer version which I did, is there an update for ovistore on the computer because I haven't heard about it if there is one and it may solve the problems I have been having with it:
1. I don't receive the messages when trying to get an app
2. It wont let me down load apps when I connect my phone to the computer
(also on the nokia website it told me to click the download and install button to get an app when plugged into the computer but I can't find it..Any ideas where it is???)
please help i've had this problem since I first set up my account and its really bugging me now!!!!!!(Apologies for barging in Steve.)
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80071A91, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?) -
I have this issue and see throughout the Internet that my problem is shared by large numbers of other Windows 7 users, and a few Windows 8 users.
I also see that Microsoft has not addressed the issue.
I've been troubleshooting the problem for 13 months and across 3 separate hard drives on 2 separate computers, with the help of tech escalation from both Carbonite and Dell (whom I wanted to eliminate as causes, and who have been kind enough to assist even
after being eliminated as causes because they evidently care about customer service).
Over 13 months we have run system diagnostics, reinstalls and repairs to no avail. We have been able to reproduce the event in the absence of every attached device, every installed program, every subscribed service, and every hardware type and configuration.
We have visited chat rooms showing that this is a widespread problem (e.g., http://superuser.com/questions/630033/audio-video-glitch-when-shadow-copy-service-starts), and that even professional server administrators simply consign themselves to VSS being "the
bane of backup software" (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/229743-problem-with-vss-writer-system-writer-timed-out).
Yet regardless of the computer or the configuration, the problem persists. It causes characteristic and alarming disk write error and memory spikes on the Resource Monitor that can be traced to huge numbers on the System 4 and VSSVC.exe processes, occurring
every time the Volume Shadow Copy Service and Application Experience create a restore point during an automatic update of Adobe, antivirus, etc.; and one can even provoke an event simply by manually creating a restore point, which has the bonus of triggering
an 8220 notice that the Volume Shadow Service has run out of time while deleting files. And the only advice I've seen from MS is that this is a "normal condition."
It is not normal to be unable to enjoy audio and video. And it is certainly not normal for one's PC to continually degrade with every update until it becomes unable to update and must be replaced.
I am on my 3rd computer with this problem (different type and configuration each time), and Dell has offered me an upgrade to Windows 8 in the hopes that the problem will not recur there. But I see from Microsoft's tech chat that Windows 8 users are reporting
the problem as well (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-pictures/after-upgrading-to-windows-8-pro-there-is-an/813432c2-14f1-463f-bba3-ad322ceb6e00).
Please, please post a real answer to this problem. Thank you.Hi,
Above all I understand the frustration as a same issue persists for a very long time.
At first I'm thinking if it is directly related to the application CrashPlan some customers mentioned in one of the threads you provided. However I then noticed that you said it could be also reproduced by creating a System Restore point.
Currently I cannot find a Windows 7 system so I used a Windows 8.1 laptop (also Dell) for testing.
I tried to play an online video and also a local video with creating a restore point in the middle. However I failed to reproduce the same behavior.
The following screenshot was captured in second test (play a local video):
I cannot confirm if it is because we have a large physical memory (8GB), or Windows 8.1 resolved this issue. From the screenshot, memory is not spiked (actually it is almost not changed).
So in current situation you can test to enlarge the size of physical memory (and virtual memory) for test if available. And as Dell provided a Windows 8 system, you can try it before and after installing Windows 8.1.
As a support engineer I also hope to help fix the issue or at least find out the cause. Later I will try to find a Windows 7 system for testing as well.
In addition, please understand that as the issue occurs mostly in Windows 7, though it seems related to VSS, it is still a Windows client system issue. So you can post the question to Windows 7 forum for further information. Here is the link:

JDK 1.4 license clauses about Software Updates and Other Software
Does anyone know what these clauses in the JDK 1.4 license mean? There is an old thread on this at http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=219875&start=0&tstart=0 but there was no response from Sun. I'm using the JDK in a Tomcat server application -- should I be worried that pieces of the JDK will be updated on my server without my knowing it? Or does this refer to applets downloaded to a browser?
From http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/j2sdk-1_4_2_10-license.txt:
7.SOFTWARE UPDATES FROM SUN. You acknowledge that at your request or consent optional features of the Software may download, install, and execute applets, applications, software extensions, and updated versions of the Software from Sun ("Software Updates"), ...
8.SOFTWARE FROM SOURCES OTHER THAN SUN. You acknowledge that, by your use of optional features of the Software and/or by requesting services that require use of the optional features of the Software, the Software may automatically download, install, and execute software applications from
sources other than Sun ("Other Software"). ...Just means that applets and other products so enabled can and will (after optionally asking for permission) connect to the net to download libraries they need if and as needed.
The JVM provides that functionality so it's in the JVM license agreement.
Nothing sinister, Sun isn't going to spy on you. -
Both say +"The 10.5.6 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac."+
*Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update* (669 MB)
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_6_ComboUpdate
*Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update* (373 MB)
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_6Update
I've never had any issue whatsoever before in using Software Update to handle all such OS updates. This is my first time encountering problem: It says "Restart", so I click Restart; and it starts on that purple default OS background, then starts an install process. But that status bar has been seemingly stopped for over 40 minutes after just advancing about 1/8th of an inch....
So I forced power-off, restarted, found these forums, and one of many seemingly contradictory knowledge base documents says if you're having problems with automatic Software Update, then instead download a standalone installer.
Which is why I ask the question of this thread. Normally, when I see "Combo Update", the implication is that there are multiple incremental updates stacked sequentially on top of each other, and the Combo will ensure that all intermediate updates get installed along with the most current update.
But in this case, the information at the links above does not differentiate in any way WHICH of the two someone should use if their current OS version is 10.5.5 .That was really very helpful. So for me it begs a followup.
I ran the "regular" installer since I had 10.5.5 prior to running the update. Via the automated Software Update feature, the update failed several times. However, when I came to the support forums here and then downloaded and ran the standalone update file (the regular one), the process was simple, and my system updated to 10.5.6.
I have checked my system profiler and it says 10.5.6 ...
But based on things you have said, it seems to me that I would be adding an extra layer of solid foundation for my installed OS X if I were to run the COMBO Updater now -- even though I am at 10.5.6 -- so as to ensure the thorough code set is in place.
Am I reading correctly? Is that what you would recommend? Because I already earlier downloaded the COMBO update installer file, at the same time I also downloaded the smaller standalone updater file... At that time I wasn't certain which I should run. And I'd much rather take a little extra time now to run the COMBO if it would enhance the stability of the OS on my computer.
So I look forward to your reply.
In a separate posting I made tonight, in another thread, I am annoyed that for a major OS update Apple didn't entrust their consumer marketing division to write the instructions for consumers... so that instead of just that regular ol' automated convenience of set-n-forget "Software Update", in this case it actually communicated to the customer: "You might want to update Safari and iTunes using this automated process, but we also are updating the full operating system of OS X. And thus we recommend you download that file separately and run it from your desktop as follows...."
Apple Support has historically never been in sync with the Consumer Sales side of the business -- the group that is Best in Class in knowing how to communicate with mainstream consumers.
Thank you again for your reply. I wish the Support gods would take your posting and make it STICKY so that 1000 new threads don't have to be started. But that is like praying for competence from U.S. Congress. -
Windows Update and MSE will not update
The Windows Update and MSE on my wife's netbook will not run. I've tried making sure the BITS and WU are running in the Services. BITS is running but Update won't run. When I try to get it to run I get an error 1067. When I try to run update I get the Update
in not running message. When I try to update MSE I get an error 0x80080005.

If someone could help me with this asap, the wife is anxious to be able to use her computer againHi,
Regarding Windows Update issue, please have a share with your CBS.log ( Find the log in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log ) and
Windowsupdate.log, and we could find the windowsupdate.log in (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log).
For Windows update troubleshooting, we might first take a look at the following articles:

the problem is that i launch the airport utility and it always says there is an update to 5.6.1, i click update and it launches the app store and tere are no updates available. i'm wondering if i need to reset or resetup my router but am afraisd if i do that i will loose all the files on my hard drive. I think this also may be related to why i am unable to use the remote app on my ipad or iphone for my apple tv (2nd gen) any input would be bvery helpful. i am now running mountain lion for my OSX
You must have upgraded to ML.. 5.6 airport utility is not actually ML compatible.. it will work but cannot be loaded as Apple ceased support at Lion. Hence why there are no upgrades.. you should not be using it at all. You are supposed to use toyland v6.1 included in ML.
I would certainly just ignore it.. having 5.6 is a great advantage .. it is a tool.. ML version is a toy. -
3g or 3GS update and lost iPhone during update
I broke my iPhone 4 that has a sim card in it.
I wanted to update my iPhone 3G (I don't think it is a 3GS).
I plugged it into iTunes.
It took all day for it to back up, then an "error" occurred and it won't allow me to restore factory settings, and it doesn't work.
What are my options?Hi there islandpt24,
It sounds like you’ve replaced your damaged iPhone 4 with an earlier iPhone 3G or 3GS and are running into an issue restoring the replacement iPhone. The article linked below provides some great troubleshooting suggestions that’ll resolve most issues like this.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes - Apple Support
If the steps outlined in that article don’t resolve the issue, just reply with details about the alert message you’re seeing in iTunes.
Take care,
-Jason

SQL Developer v4 EA3 is working fine, but I decided to download the stand-alone SQL Developer Data Modeler because I had seen people recommending using it in favor of the one bundled with SQLDEV. Windows 7 64-bit Java (64 bit) installed into C:\Progr
