FIOS On Demand - Why so long to post newly aired shows on HBO and other channels?

I am a new FIOS TV customer having just switched my service from Comcast.
I have noticed that it seems to take FIOS a long time to post new shows to various On Demand TV channels.
For Example, I am a big fan of HBO programming including Entourage, True Blood, and Hung.   With Comcast, if a new episode aired on Sunday night, it was available on Comcast On Demand the following morning (early Monday AM.)    This was great as it meant I never had to waste DVR space recording the show if I couldn't watch it.
With FIOS, I am noticing it takes DAYS and DAYS for these new episodes to post. Why is that?   HBO says on their channel that "The program you are watching will be available on demand starting TOMORROW."     So why does it take Fios so long to post newly aired shows?
The same goes for Bravo, TLC, and other networks. But HBO is the big one for me.

I agree and am having the same issue. When I go to the HBO on demand folder many shows are not showing. I did however notice if I do a search I can find things that do not show up under the HBO folder.
For instance, Entourage S8 Episode 1 which just aired on Sunday July 24th, 2011 does not show in the HBO folder in the vOD section, but if I search Entourage it come up.
Please fix it!

What is the make and model of your device? Additionally, are you able to access the e-mail account from a PC? Looking forward to your reply so tha I can better assist!

Why aren't all of my playlists showing up on my other devices

I turned on my ITunes Match, and some of my playlists are showing up on the other PC and some playlists are not. Why aren't all of the playlists showing up?

Restore Session no longer works properly, the window shows as blank, and the restore button is greyed out. On the history tab, the three associated links are also greyed out and unusable. How do I restore functionality?

Just as the question says, I get a restore session tab whenever I open Firefox, but it no longer shows my tabs, and the Restore button is greyed out. If I open and then close a side, it no longer shows up in the "recently closed tabs" in the History menu. "restore previous session" and "Recently closed windows" are also greyed out.
I'd like this function to work correctly again.

Make sure that you do not use Clear History to clear the <i>Browsing History</i> when you close Firefox.

Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.

Why is login page (to register to use this forum) and other pages displaying foreign characters (e.g., বাংলা (বাংলাদেশ) when am using English (U.S.) versions of IE6 & Opera 10.6 to contact you (as FF4 hanging computer)?

FF4 hanging badly, so used IE6 & Opera 10.63 to register with & access Mozilla support site. Some words on those pages displayed in a foreign language (Arabic script?? )-- example, বাংলা (বাংলাদেশ)
Foreign characters on initial Support registration page, were in lieu of English words asking to select UserID & Password. (Page not entirely in foreign language--only parts. Request to repeat password choice, enter email, were in English).
I registered (guessing what to enter). Went to Support page [support.mozilla.com/bn-BD/kb/ask]. Greeted by statement: "Our volunteers haven't translated this article into বাংলা (বাংলাদেশ) yet."
No idea what language that is, or why u think I can read it. Presently logged in from U.S.

That is Bengali ([http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html]). Firefox 4 no longer has the language setting in the user agent and in your case it doesn't seem to work to detect the language.
You can change the bn-BD in the link(s) to en-US on the Mozilla sites.

Why is it that when sending text messages, sometimes they go through in blue and sometimes in green? What does that mean ?
My second question is, at times after sending a text it says: Sent as a text message.....I'm thinking, really? that's what I thought I sent in the first place !

Good question!
Blue messages are iMessage conversations (Apple's messaging service)
Green messages are SMS - standard text messages.
SMS is the acronym for Short Message Service.
MMS is the acronym for Multimedia Message Service (audio, pictures, video can be added to messages).
With MMS turned on, you will see a little camera icon in the bottom left corner of your screen when you are in the Messages app. Also you will see the word iMessage where you type your text.

Can no longer send e-mail (FireFox made me sad) and others

I suddenly stopped being able to send e-mail (FireFox 3.6.2x) from my browser-based iNotes e-mail. I upgraded to FireFox 8.0.1. Same problem. I tried FireFox help and could not send a "FireFox made me sad" e-mail to you. I tried Google Chrome and it is sending mail fine, but you would not let me send a "FireFox made me sad" from Chrome. This is another attempt to contact you as I can find no feedback e-mail address to send from another e-mailer. I am running Windows Vista.
I have tried adding my iNotes server to XUL manager. I want to stay with FireFox but can't seem to tell you about the problem (others may be in the same boat...).

Get a list of SMTP server settings from your email provider and check those against what you have in Thunderbird. Maybe one of the SMTP server settings needs updating.
If you need help looking at your server settings, go to the Help Menu and select Troubleshooting Information. Clear the box to include Account Names. Press the button labeled Copy All to Clipboard and then come back here and paste that info to a reply box.

Why Can't I Delete Itmes from my wish list (and other complaints)

im having many issues with the wish list. since i had many songs, and it cuts off after a certain amount, it breaks it into pages. i wouldn't mind this if it didnt also make it impossible to navigate. if i set it to list in aplphabetical order, it only does so for THAT page, not the total list. is there an option to put them all on one list?
also, i cant delete anything from the list after the first page. it seems to be cut off the page and no x appears. what do i do?

Having similar problems. The new Wish List is in my opinion a total failure. Is anyone out there at Apple reading this??? It's really unprofessional and un-Apple to put up revised software without de-bugging. [Whoever designed the new Wish List appears to be designed for only a few items in there, like a CART. This is not the case with a Wish List. I have HUNDREDS of items in my old Wish List, as I suspect many others do too, and we need to be able to navigate like a playlist.)
1. Can ONLY DELETE items on PAGE 1, and ONLY if sorted by date-added; this is ridiculous. I literally cannot remove anything beyond page 1.
2. can't do SEARCHES; this makes a "wish list" only marginally useful
3. SORT only works 1 page at a time; we need to sort the whole list (like a playlist)so that you can see ALL songs or ALL albums by ___[whoever] together
4. can only SEE 1 page at a time; we need to see the whole list (list a playlist) same as #3 above
5. after you DELETE one item, you end up in another section and have to come BACK to the Wish List to delete anything further.
6. The other features on playlists are not there: year, genre, rating, etc. It's just not functional without this.
7. If you're going to put up something that doesn't work, or doesn't provide the same functionality, at least keep the old Wish List (playlist) active, so we can drag songs into it.
Would love to get some answers and some quick fixes from APPLE, as well as input from other users. I have thousands of songs in iTunes and the Wish List is a major feature for me. Thanks.

You've not configured it properly on your mini. Check out Microsoft's Web site for the proper configuration (or examine your iOS device's configuration) to set it up properly.

Why can the song order in some playlists be rearranged and other can not?

I have several playlists, both drag-n-drop and smart albums. But on only some of the drag-n-drop lists, can I rearrange the playlist while others I can not. Any ideas?

These two condions must be true for a playlist to arrange the tracks:
1) Shuffle setting must be off
2) Sorting order must be set on the very first column (with the numbers)

Why can't I access German TV shows from US iTunes account??

I am a German Expat living in the US & I want to buy German TV shows in the iTunes store. Mainly for my daughter whom I want to raise bilingual. Why can't I access German TV shows?? And if there is a way, how? I have a US billing address.
Arem't we in an international age now? This is very limiting.

There are a lot of great original German TV shows as well. Also, I would not mind my daughter watching her favorite US shows, such as Dora or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse dubbed in German. Any way she deepens her German language skills is fine by me.
I also feel it's somewhat unfair (discriminatory even?) if hispanic immigrants have access to their language in the iTunes TV show section, but not other nationalities, only because there are less Germans here (for example). Come to think of it, it's a great way to learn any forreign language for US students, if they were able to easily download foreign TV content...
The one big advantage of digital downloads of TV and movies, in my eyes, would be the "accross the border" ease of access. I sure hope the powers that be will become more aware of this and fix this issue. At least a "selection" of the most popular, original TV shows could be available.

Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

FiOS On Demand in need of a complete overhaul! Won't you agree?

Might be nice for fellow members to tag onto this thread if you are in agreement. Verizon might then take notice and action. I'm new to FiOS at my home, and have TV (Preferred HD, whole house DVR), Internet (50/50, Quantum Gateway), and Phone service that replaced my 10-years of Comcast at this house and the last year or so was with X1 service. I have been a Comcast customer for 24 years. I decided to switch primarily because of increasing problems with Comcast due to their transmission cables and aging overhead equipment that left me with poor quality service and frequently service interruption. The decision was made even easier after Comcast again increased rates for the New Year, dropped some standard channels I enjoy, and because FiOS has a really advantageous package deal promotion! To round things out, I also have experience with AT&T Uverse service as I spend a lot of time in Houston with family and have set the house up there with their TV/Internet/Phone. I have to say the HD picture is far better with FiOS than Comcast, and using the whole-house DVR system the set top boxes aren't really any different than those of the X1 service. Internet has been consistently 10% above rated service speeds, and the Quantum Gateway is really a nice router with a robust wireless antenna that FINALLY overwhelms the professional CISCO wireless access point my IT-professional neighbor uses nextdoor that would hinder signal in my living room. Comcast had throttled my Internet frequently, and anyone who says they do not throttle service does not know technical folks in Comcast as I have or really understand why they forced everyone to upgrade their modems to the current docsys standard. FiOS hasn't touched my bandwidth and I can finally transfer massive files through VPN to/from my office without issue and quickly! Even the phone is louder, clearer, and people I call on the West Coast have commented there is no more funny lag or dropouts. All GREAT things that make me happy, especially at a few less bucks a month compared to Comcast even though adding an extra TV! Even further, I had to contact FiOS technical support regarding a bit of an odd problem that occurred during initial setup that affected a few things, and the overall experience and final resolution to my problem was superior to support from Comcast. While it was not a one-contact, fast and easy slam-dunk fix experience. Verizon did work to resolve the issue, and had it the issue sorted within one week. Here's where FiOS falls incredibly short of the definitive mark of superior service as compared to Comcast: On Demand. After now a few weeks acclimating to FiOS On Demand, I have to say that it is terrible compared to Comcast. Comcast has more titles, more logical organization, and literally updates within 12 hours of airing! FiOS On Demand doesn't even organize by all channels. For instance, The CW isn't even in the channel list, and you have to search to find content aired on that channel. Then, the search feature is also inaccurate at times based on inputted search keyword, and it doesn't help that the video on demand provider is not consistent in episode naming/numbering format. I'm still waiting for episodes 10 days after airing and the next episode has already been broadcast! Quite honestly, it looks like FiOS uses the same video on demand provider as Uverse, and customers of Uverse have complained about their On Demand forever. Taking it a step further, Comcast's On Demand programming is totally accessible via mobile appliances (tablets, smartphones) through their TV Remote app, which is smartly laid out, user friendly, and programming easy to find (this is not the old app previously criticised but a totally new app Comcast released in late 2014). Conversely, the FiOS Mobile app is just an extension of everything already wrong with the FiOS On Demand interface! FiOS, I like you, but I'd really like to love you and to be able to recommend you flat across the board to everyone I meet for doing everything better! Can you please take some major steps in improving the On Demand experience?

What irritates me about Verizon On Demand is that shows that should be in both HD and SD, are only showing in SD. I originally watched them in HD when they were broadcast, so why are they only showing in SD on On Demand? Examples of this are: Highlander on Starz...When the episodes were airing, you could go back and watch them again in HD or SD. Now they are only in SD. SD is unsatisfactory when you are used to HD (and you are paying for HD under the Preferred HD plan). Another example...The Americans on FX. I missed it the night it aired and went to watch it the next day and it is only being shown in SD. And these aren't the only two. I called Verizon about this and the rep did not have a response as to why this was the situation. But she went on to tell me how many thousands of shows were on FIOS ON DEMAND...and tried to talk me into signing up and paying more to have a DVR, then I could be sure to see shows in HD....Not a suitable answer and solution to my problem.Just thought I would put my 2 cents in on this topic. PS I used to have Comcast and due to increases and multiple service calls to get issues fixed, I changed over to FIOS (I'd also had FIOS before Comcast). Don't we all get sick and tired of the rate changes?? Keep playing the game and changing back and forth to get the best price! But this is another issue.
