FIOS ONE LOCAL STATION

I was told that for my locality, Westchester County, NY, that FIOS ONE is available which serves dame purpose that CABLEVISON'S Channel 12 did. There is no FIOS ONE channel available in my area. Does anyone else have the
FIOS ONE local news, weather channel?
My local weather station gives me NY CITY weather which is useless here in WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY.

We need fios 1 news in Staten island, NY there is not local new broadcast here. On local channels they show the outer areas from where I live please help me out please!!!. Where are they going to add more HD channels here this roll is taking for ever please help me out.

I'm a little confused about how Apex comes into play (or how you want it to)?
Are you just pushing files from your machine to a linux box, or are you looking to create a file load application for end-users with a File Browse item in Apex, and then drop what you uploaded onto the server?
If it is just really wanting to ftp from your machine to a linux box, try an app like FileZilla FTP Client (provided you have rights to the linux box).

No STB for FiOS TV Local

This is primarily a question for the Verizon employees that seem to follow these posts from time to time:
Is there some way I can explain to the people in the call centers how to sign me up for FiOS TV Local without an STB?
My TV (and my MythTV box) can tune all the local channels as they are in Clear QAM. I have no need for the STB that I can see, and I am currently using the service without one hooked up. However, when I returned my HD DVR, the service was disabled by the time I got home from the Verizon Plus store. I spent 2 hours on the phone with "support" and they re-enabled the service, but only after adding a $5.99/mo SD STB. They gave it to me for a year free, but now I have to remember to call back in a year and have this fight all over again. I just want the local channels in SD and HD, and I want to tune them with my own Clear QAM capable hardware, rather than paying verizon monthly for their arguably substandard STBs.
Do any users out there have the Local service that have managed to do it without a monthly fee for hardware they don't need?

Well, Premier is an old package (it has been replaced twice now), so I'm not 100% sure, but I am fairly sure that the SD = HD principle still applies. But yes, Verizon does not charge extra for an HD channel if you get an SD channel today. Whether that was the case when you signed up for Premier, I'm not sure. If the pricing works out, you may want to consider the newer Prime HD or Extreme HD packages. The Premier package was replaced by "Essentials" and then Prime HD.
From my experience, getting a new STB in the mail takes 2-4 days. Yes, there are Verizon stores around, but there's not that many. There's a list on the website, I believe.

Yes...to local stations breaking up...but freezing, pixelating, breaking up or simply going silent seems to be the norm for my TV viewing. The worse my service is the higher the cost. Quite a deal! It may just be time for me to grab one of those archaic book thingies on my coffee table.

Hi aggravated2, in reviewing your account I am seeing a signal issue. Are you noticing this on both of you cable boxes? Also if you haven't already please make sure that the coax cable on the back of the box is screwed on tight bypassing any un-needed or gold splitters. After please power cycle the set top box by unplugging for the power cord for 10 seconds and plug back in.

Moving a folder from one local root folder to another

I've used Dreamweaver CS4 to build my website, and I've become basically familiar with the way it works. Now I'm just starting to build a second site - and I've run into a baffling problem.
I've defined the new site in the normal way, and created the local root folder.
I've got a folder full of image files that is currently sitting in the local root folder of my old site - I'd like to put this into the local root folder of my new site.
This may seem silly, but I can't find a way to move that images folder from one local root folder to the other. I thought it would be a simple drag & drop move, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. I've moved the images folder to the desktop, from where it should be easy to drag it over the new local root folder icon in Dreamweaver and drop it in - but it doesn't work.
Am I missing something obvious here...?

You should be able to access your entire computer directory structure through the Files Panel in Dreamweaver.
Click the drop down arrow next to the named site (the open site) at the top of the Files Panel and navigate up into the rest of your computer. You can then Ctrl-C (copy) the folder, re-select the name of your site (the green folders at the bottom of the directories, not in the computer structure), and Ctrl-V (paste) the folder where you want it. Contents will of course come with it.
You could (alternately) just copy and paste it working within the computer's directory structure. Paste it into the new root folder and, in Dreamweaver, refresh the view in the Files Panel. The folder should show up fine.
Notice that I have not been drag and dropping, though that should work with the last-mentioned technique.

EXCEPTION: there should be exactly one local peer

I am trying to get started using PHD, but I can not get it to working yet. When I have login on the client it acts as if the sync is happening, but it never happens. I have poured through the FileSync logs on the client and keep finding complaints of more than one peer. So I decided to look in the logs on the server and see that the only error is about the peer count. The log from the server looks like so:

I am not sure where it is getting the peer info from. No one is mounting anything on the server except the client. Anyone got an idea as to what is going on?

Looks like the error I am having has to do with the storage used on the server for the home account. The error that I posted earlier was with the user's home account living on NAS box mounted via NFS on the server. Today I attached a hard drive via USB and moved the users home account to that and there were no errors.
Is nfs_reshare not supported with PHD?

Migrating User Settings from one local user to another

I have an iMac running 10.5.4 with some issues (Parallels hanging at random moments). One of the tests I did to troubleshoot it was create a new user profile, and run the same (shared) Parallels machine as that new user, which seemed to fix the problem.
I would like to being gradually copying over user preferences & data from the old account to the new one, bit by bit, so that if one of those items is causing the problem with Parallels, we can catch it.
Is there a preferred way to copy or move over user settings from one local account to another on the same Mac? Basic files like Documents, etc. I know I can just drop into the Shared folder, but I am more concerned with Preferences, apps that use databases to point to files (like iTunes), and permissions.

(and anyone else who cares) - I finally figured out the problem: the mount point for the volume containing my Home directory ("Data") was changed by the system, but only on my primary startup volume ("System")... so when I booted from SystemClone everything was okay... but when I booted from System I had no account, no preferences, no nothing. Because the visible label on the volume containing Home was correct (even though the actual name - the mount point - was different), regardless of whether I booted from System or SystemClone, I assumed everything here was in order.
Bottom line: when booting from System, my Data volume's visible label read "Data" .. the path to Home directory under the account's advanced settings read "/volumes/data/directoryName" ... but my Data volume's mount point read "Data 1" .. when booting from SystemClone, my Data volume's visible label read "Data" .. the path to Home directory under the account's advanced settings read "/volumes/data/directoryName" ... and my Data volume's mount point read "Data" (so everything worked).
Lesson learned: don't assume.. check the mount point reference using Disk Utility.
Approach validated: if I didn't have a bootable SystemClone, I would have never been able to figure this out, and repair everything without rebuilding.

Server based Office 2013 - New template, template not showing header content in one work station only

This is for Server based Office 2013 - using Word
All computer work stations are running Windows 7 professional
I have Word 97 - 2003 templates saved on the shared drive on the server. I have these templates "pinned" to the opening page on all server user accounts, so when anyone starts word on the server anyone can see the company templates.
On most of the work stations, when I create a new document from one of my templates - Word successfully shows all the Header and Footer details.
But on one work station there is no content in the Header or Footer, no matter which server account is signed into the server on that workstation.

Do you mean it happens regardless of which acount signed in? If so, maybe update the workstation?

Thunderbird will only open on one local folder. No other window, no access to accounts. Reinstalling doesn't help.

I have 4 accounts and about 30 local folders. Thunderbird is stuck with one local folder open. Cannot access any other page, or any accounts. Reinstalling does not help, nor does restarting the computer. I have Thunderbird 31.5.0 on Yosemite 10.10.2.

I was wondering, now that I discovered the advantages of Resource Manger, if it would be possible to have 2 shared resources, one local with common topics and pictures for several projects, and another one, remote, containing the whole projects, i.e. topics and pictures, for collaboration purposes.
The local one I intend to use it for my purposes to have common items (topics & pictures) updated in all projects where they appear, and the remote one I intend to use it together with my remote colleagues that might want to do changes in the topics.
This would mean that the common topics and pictures would be present in both resources, the local one as well as the remote one.

I was merely wondering if it would be possible w/o having to use other products outside RoboHelp.
We are already using svn for a lot of other purposes and we are using that for the RoboHelp projects as well, however I was wondering if it would not be possible to have RoboHelp take care of the RoboHelp projects, and with svn to take care of the other things in the company.
Eventually, if it would be possible, I would think to sync all the local projects with the remote projects, then sync the local project with the local shared resources, and at the end sync the rest of the projects with the local shared resources.

How to make two PCs (one local, one remote) control the same running vi at the same time?

I have a vi running, and two PCs are monitoring it, one is local and another one is remote.
I can see the remote front panel at the remote machine by using application property node, but it seems only one of the two PCs has the control of the running VI at the same time.
Is there any way to make the two PCs both have the control of the same vi at the same time? Switching back and forth the control between two PCs is really annoying.

What exactly are you trying to control?
Perhaps another approach? You could use "Shared Variables" from LV 8.0 and have a copy of the writer VI on each of the control PCs edit the value on the host PC. But as soon as I post, someone is going to talk about multiple writers to shared resources being a bad idea.... so just be careful or you may try to edit a value that has already been changed.

One local file folder always opens

DW9 / CS3
In one of local file location, one particular folder always
opens itself even after I have closed it and refreshed the site
cache.
I have about 25 folders total in this site. The one folder
giving me trouble is titled "banners" and contains only image
files. If that folder is closed and I press Refresh, the folder
then opens.
If I close the folder "banners" and open any other folder and
then press Refresh, the folder Banners opens.
If I close the folder Banners, close Dreamweaver, delete the
configuration folder, re-open Dreamweaver, the Banners folder
automatically opens on startup.
This is only happening in this particular local site. This is
not happening in the other other local sites that I have where
certain folders only hold image files.

This sounds like you have a corrupted user config folder and DW is not recognizing the file types.
First back up all your site definitions, then uninstall DW, delete your user configuration folder and then reinstall DW and any extensions you may have.

ACS 4.2 - one local user be part of multiple local groups

Hello,
I have a group of network engineers that need full admin access to two groups locally in ACS - Network Admins and LMS Admins <--- (New group created for recent LMS CiscoWorks installation).
I have two NDG's - Cores and LMSserver <-- new
Problem: If a user belongs to Network Admins group, user can login to the LMS server but limited functions. If user is moved to LMS admin has full functions but loses level 15 access to the routers and switches, which are AAA clients for Cores.
I've tried many different settings and still can not find the right one. Is this doable in ACSv4.2?

Here is the a workaround to solve it.
Lets say that you have three different groups on AD for NetworkAdmin, RouterAdmin, Wireless.
Go to external user database ==Database Group Mappings==Windows NT/2000==select the domain to which you are authenticating==Add mapping.
Select the AD group NetworkAdmin and map it to ciscosecure group 1
select the AD group RouterAdmin and map it to ciscosecure group 2
select the AD group Wireless and map it to ciscosecure group 3
Group mappings work in the order in which they are defined, first configured mapping is looked upon first then second, third and so on. If a user is in AD group NetworkAdmin and
that is mapped to ACS group 1 and it is first configured mapping it will be looked for FIRST (If a user exists in NetworkAdmin group it will always be mapped to ciscosecure
group 1 and NO further Mappings for this user is checked and user is authenticated or rejected)
Scenario: if you have a user called cisco, in NetworkAdmin group, cisco1 in RouterAdmin group, and cisco2 in Wireless. They will always be dynamically mapped to ACS group 1, 2
and 3 respectively as per above mappings.
You can check the mappings on the passed authentications for users as to what group are they getting mapped to.
SCENARIO:
Now if you want a NetworkAdmin user to authenticate to NetworkAdmin devices and not wireless or RouterAdmin devices you would need to apply NARs to group 1 because
NetworkAdmin users are connecting to that group. Which you will permit Access on group basis to a particular NetworkAdmin NDG or individual NetworkAdmin NAS device.
NOTE:
If you are applying NARs for Wireless or VPN devices.. you would need to configure both IP based AND CLI/DNIS based together because NARs were originally designed for cisco IOS for
routers and switches.
IMPORTANT: If a user successfully authenticates to AD database once, its username is cached on the ACS database (NOT password) the only way to remove the previously cached
username is to go to usersetup find that user and delete it manually.
ACS will not support the following configuration:
*An active directory user that is a member of 3 AD groups (group A, B and C) *Those 3 groups are mapped within ACS as follows Group1->A,Group2->B and Group3->C.
*The user is in all 3 groups however he will always be authenticated by group 1 because that is the first group he appears in, even if there is a NAR configured assigning
specific AAA clients to the group.
However there if your mappings are in below order...
NT Groups            ACS groups
A,B,C =============> Group 1
A     =============> Group 2
B     =============> Group 3
C     =============> Group 4.
You can create a DIFFERENT rule for the users in A,B,C by configuring the NARs in group1.
This rule WILL apply for the use ONLY if he is present in ALL three groups (A,B and C).
You can create a rule for users in group A (Group 2)
You can create a rule for users in group B (Group 3)
You can create a rule for users in group C (Group 4)

Possible to associate one local hostname with two local addresses?

I'm trying to set up a backup system for our LAN. Several of the programs involved (e.g., rsnapshot) have their configuration based around what they recognize as the hostname of the other end. It's easy enough to set the local hostnames as I like, either in /etc/hosts or in /etc/ssh/ssh_config.
BUT the issue is that some of my machines might have different IP addresses depending on whether they're connected over wire or wifi. (Sometimes both connections are up; then wire should take precedence.) And some of the services I'm setting up (again, rsnapshot is an example) have the server initiate the connection to the client. (At least, it's what I think of as the server: the machine with the static wired LAN connection that the backup storage is kept on. The machines being backed up are the ones whose numeric IP isn't stable.)
Again, this is all inside a LAN. The IPs involved are all 192.168.*.* stuff.
How do I get the server to know what IP a given host, e.g., "wifeslaptop", has? If it were just a matter of a single network card, e.g., only wifi connections, then the router is already able to assign it a fixed local IP. But wifeslaptop might (instead or additionally) be connected by wire, too.
I see five possible strategies for solving this.
1. Is it possible to get the server to associate two numeric addresses with a single hostname? So that it recognizes both as instances of "wifeslaptop", and I guess if it wants to initiate a connection to that host, it tries the first numeric address then the second if that fails? Is it possible to do this simply, or does it require installing some kind of extra server/daemon?
2. Failing that, I guess I need to wrestle with our router to try to get it to assign the same numeric address to the wired or the wifi connection, and ensure that both connections are never active at the same time.
3. Or I've got to set up some kind of local dynamic dns system, so that my server can look up "wifeslaptop" and discover what LAN IP address it has.
4. Failing all of that, maybe I need to instead dynamically generate the config files for the services I'm trying to use. E.g., before running rsnapshot, the server could ping the two numeric addresses wifeslaptop might have, then generate a rsnapshot config file on the fly associating the address which is present with the (single) backup store it keeps for wife's laptop.
5. Or maybe simplest yet, if it works, I could (either with symlinks or with mount -o bind) let rsnapshot THINK there are two backup stores, one for each version of wifeslaptop, but have them point to the same place on disk.
I'm listing all these strategies so that you can say "Forget about 1, 4 or 5 are much easier." But for the moment, what I'm thinking about is 1. Is this easy to do?

There's some promising text in "man -s7 hostname" which says env variable HOSTALIASES can point to a file which expands simple hostname aliases (with no periods) to whatever you want (I think the expansion has to be to a hostname not a numeric address, but not sure). One could then just manipulate the alias file dynamically. However, this doesn't seem to work with any of the utilities I tried (ping, host).
I guess I could try manipulating /etc/hosts or /etc/ssh_config, since I'm going to be using rsnapshot on top of ssh. But given the potential downsides of messing up either of those files, I'm now inclined to just generate rsnapshot's config file dynamically instead. And hope that similar workarounds can be found for other utilities...

Local station problem

Hopefully someone at Verizon corporate will see this...
I live on a border town in Southern Massachusetts. Technically, I am in the RI market. FiOS does not offer the Boston affiliate of FOX (WFXT). My only option is the RI affiliate. This is fine for network programming, but we prefer our Boston affiliate for news and local information (such as politics. We have no interest in RI news).
I have been given some answer about where the local FiOS dispatch is located. However, I get both Boston and Providence market affilates for PBS, ABC, CBS, and NBC, in both standard and HD. So why can't my town get the Boston affilate of FOX? I know that the next town over gets WFXT with FIOS.
We switched from Comcast. Comcast offered both affiliates, although the Boston affiliate was not offered in HD. Thus, I know it CAN be done.. just wondering why it ISN'T done.

your not likely to get any offical response from Verizon here as they do not monitor these boards.
But it is likely to be where the Verizon VHO is locatated. It is likely on the wrong side of some line and therefore they are unable to carry that channel. While Comcast probably had their office on the other side of the line allowing you to get that channel.
OR
Fox just will not sign an agreement to let them carry it. FOX has been fighting with most Cable companies for the last few years making it difficult for the cable companies to carry FOX at all. Comcast just had a big fight with FOX and didnt carry any FOX channels for nearly 3 weeks about 6 weeks ago.
