FIOS Skipped my block?

Hello, I am new to the forums. I decided to join because I have a question about FIOS service.<br>Let me start by saying I have Time Warner Cable as my Internet, phone, and TV provider. I should also say that they are TERRIBLE. They are unreliable and terribly and overpriced. I have been stuck with them for many years and I planned to switch to FIOS as soon as they moved to my neighborhood. You could imagine my excitement when I finally started seeing FIOS trucks and construction being done in my area!<br>But as it turns out, they skipped a couple of blocks including mine and kept building down. Why were we skipped?! I have signed up to be notified of them about ANYTHING FIOS related in our area. I have waited forever and as my luck turns out, I waited just to get skipped.<br>The rumor is they skipped our block because our telephone wires are in the back of our house. This seems to be true because everyone else who has it has their telephone wiring in the front of their home. It really sucks to see FIOS literally 3 houses down but be stuck with Time Warner.<br>My question is, does anyone know if they always skip houses with wires in the back? Do they need some type of permission? An extra fee that I can pay? Do they ever plan on coming to this block?<br>What I'm paying for time Warner's 30mbps is even more than the 75mps package with FIOS. I can no longer deal with these time Warner crooks. Does anyone have any info? Thank you in advance for any help.

Sorry, none of us users here have any info.
Verizon keeps info on FiOS rollouts internal until they are ready to sell service.
Good Luck.

    Please help me.Dear Vivek. If you have used DBMS_REPAIR package, it means that you've marked those blocks corrupted and ORacle will bypass those blocks in I/O
    Why you haven't used RMAN Block Media Recovery? You can watch my video tutorial on this: http://kamranagayev.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/rman-video-tutorial-series-performing-block-media-recovery-with-rman/
    (And please don't tell me that you haven't taken RMAN backup if it's not a production database)
    It's just a informatino written to the trace files that Oracle bypasses those data blocks

  • FIOS Skipping recordings

    I recently upgraded to the new FIOS QUANTUM and everything was fine until the new fall TV season started. It’s missing and/or skipping some of the new recording. The new DVR is 6 recording at a time the max I am using is 3 maybe 4 on some days. But just on Monday with only two recording at a time it missed one.
    Why is the DVR skipping rocordings for no apparent reason?

    Common problem with new seasons.  I think some shows  get new codes.  They don't match words they match against a series code.

  • VOIP has stopped working -- FIOS Internet -- Verizon blocking ports?

    Background:
    I have two VOIP device, one is from VOIP.com (HT-286) and the other is my Blackberry 8220 wifi-enabled phone.
    Until December, I had Cox Internet for the last two years -- ZERO problems with the above devices.  I made and received phone calls just fine.
    FIOS internet installed early december.  Both devices worked fine on install.  I made and recevieved VOIP phone calls with both the VOIP.com device (Home phone) and my wifi Blackberry.
    I've taken my VOIP box over to the neighbor's to test it -- works fine.  I plug into their router and have no problems.  My wifi Blackberry works just fine when I go to to the bookstore or coffee shop (Free wifi).
    Internet (as defined by using PC web browser) and TV work fine.  We have VOIP service with VOIP.com.
    Problem:
    About two weeks ago, I noticed that I would occasionally get phone calls on the blackberry and there would be no one there. I didn't think anything of it until my wife finally asked me why she couldn't make outgoing calls on the house phone.
    I tested it, and this is what I found:
    BOTH PHONES:
    Phone rings.  "Dead" call.  However, the caller can hear ME but I cannot hear them
    I make outgoing call on VOIP/house phone:  I get dial tone, and dial as normal, but once I've dialed, SILENCE.  No ring, nothing.  The called phone will ring but I will not hear it, nor hear the other party answering.  I can call my wife's cel phone (Tmobile) or work phone and it rings.  She can hear me, but I cannot hear her.
    I make outgoing calls on wifi Blackberry:  Enter number and press send as normal, but SILENCE.  Same symptoms as above.
    As I said, I've taken both devices to other networks and they work fine.  NOTHING was changed on the router in the time frame EXCEPT the name of the SSID, which I changed the very first day --both devices were working for several weeks after.
    I have powered off and restarted the router a dozen times and I just did a "hard" reset to return it to the factory settings :: my voip service still is not working properly.
    WHAT I HAVE DONE:
    I called Verizon FIOS Internet support.  They say since I can watch TV and access the web, that nothing is wrong.
    I called VOIP.com and they say they see the device coming into their network, but they cannot see if Verizon is blocking ports 5060-5070.
    Blackberry support flat-out says that Verizon is blocking ports.
    Can someone help?

    VZ isn't blocking those ports.  they only have restrictions on port 25, and in some areas port 80.  all other ports are open.
    I would reach back out to voip.com and see if you can escelate it with them.    you can also go to portforward.com and see if they have any walkthrough guides for your particular device.    if you have a friend with fios you can try switching routers to see if that is the culprit, but there is nothing in your description that suggests to me that it would be a router issue.     Also look into QOS if your VOIP people can give you any information on that,   it may also be an avenue you would want to explore if you have VOIP transpiring over there.

  • Skip Block in navigation?

    I have a window that contains one canvas and two blocks. These block contains buttons, text items and display items. The window is basically a calendar pop-up that allows the user to select a date from a calendar. There are no db items at all.
    I want this window/canvas to only be shown when the user clicks a button. The problem that I am having is that we have a toolbar with a "Next" button that uses "next_block" to show the next block, when this button is clicked the calendar shows up.
    I have made all the settings necessary to make the block non-enterable but the next_block built-in still shows the calendar. Is there a way to exclude the calendar from block-level navigation?
    Thanks!

    I'm also interested in this topic. Presented solution is good when there's only need for stopping block i.e. last block in a sequence that should be navigable. Setting the next block property of a block to itself will stop navigation to succeeding blocks in a sequence. But what if I want just to skip a block? Let there be three blocks: A, B, C, and I want to skip B. We could do that by setting Nxt Nav Block of A to be C, and Prev Nav Block of C to be A. Of course, we could rearrange block sequence into A, C, B and set only prop of C. But I'm looking for a more general solution.
    Specifically, throughout application we have blocks that should be skipped, and they all have known names. So, I'm looking for a solution where the block that should be skipped is, in some way, marked, not the preceding nor the following block.

  • FiOS IPS server suspected of blocking emails from Constant Contact

    My homeowners assocation cannot get emails through to me at {edited for privacy}, but they do get emails through to my wife at {edited for privacy}. These emails are administered by Constant Contact, who suspect the FiOS servers of blocking emails to me. They suggest that I send you the following information:
    To: Verizon ISP Customer Support
    Subject: Remove Constant Contact Block
    Hello. My name is {edited for privacy} and I understand that you employ filters and/or blacklists to protect customers like myself from unsolicited email; however, this might have made it impossible for me to receive certain information that I have solicited. I value these communications and would like to receive them using my AOL email address.
    The sender of these emails uses an email marketing service called Constant Contact. Constant Contact is not an open relay and has strict anti-spam policies in place. Possibly because your filters block emails from Constant Contact I am unable to receive these communications.
    I ask that you please help me determine why these emails are being blocked. For further information about Constant Contact or to request more information from them such as log files, the Operations team can be reached at - {edited for privacy}.

  • MB1C Upload Program Coding Block Screen

    Dear Experts,
                       I have created an upload recording of mb1c transaction. After adding header data I have created it's classification entries. Recording has been created successfully. But; when I execute this recording to upload tab-delimited text file data, it shows a CODING BLOCK screen before the classification window opening. and return to header screen. Why this CODING BLOCK screen is appears; while during recording creation this screen does't appears.
    Can Someone please suggests me a solution to skip CODING BLOCK screen.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sohail

    Coding Block Screen; that could be a Configuration problem. Me solved this problem through two uploads using MB1C and MSC1N.

  • Alternative Block Problems

    Hi
    I have created a process which contains an alternative block. Inside this block there are two sequential blocks which should be entered depending on the result of a decision action. It looks like this:
    1. Alternative Block:
    1. 1. Decision Action
    1. 2. 1 Callable Object 0
    1. 2. Sequential Block 1
    1. 2. 1.Action 1
    1. 2. 1. 1.  Callable Object 1
    1. 3.  Sequential Block 2
    1. 3. 1. Action 2
    1. 3. 1. 1. Callable Object 2
    Ok, I did everything as described here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4848c8d1-0c01-0010-33b9-87a6488c48a7
    Sequential Block 1 should be called, if the result of Callable Object 0 is true and Sequential Block 2 should be called if it is false. Very simple, isn't it? In fact it is not working. At first, it seems if the process worked correctly as it skips Sequential Block 1 if the result is false. But then, it the result is true, BOTH blocks are entered, at first Block 1 and then Block 2.
    It would be really really nice and there will be lots of points if you could help me!!
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best regards
    Bettina Hepp

    Hi Dipankar and Sumangala,
    thank you very much for your quick response. Yes, I have set one resultstate target to Sequential Block 1 and the other one to Sequential Block 2:
    1. Alternative Block:
    1. 1. Decision Action
    1. 2. 1 Callable Object 0
          Result State true-----target Sequential Block 1
          Result State false----target Sequential Block 2
    1. 2. Sequential Block 1
    1. 2. 1.Action 1
    1. 2. 1. 1. Callable Object 1
    1. 3. Sequential Block 2
    1. 3. 1. Action 2
    1. 3. 1. 1. Callable Object 2
    In fact, if the result state of the decision action is false, everything works fine, as Sequential Block 1 is skipped. But if it is true, both blocks are entered, at first Block 1 and then Block 2.
    Do I need to set anything else?
    Thank you very much for helping me.
    Best regards
    Bettina Hepp

  • ORA-01578 - bad blocks.

    Hello,
    We had a SAN crash last month and with all the confusion I missed that we had some bad blocks after the crash. Our RMAN backups have now aged out so we don't have a RMAN backup. What I do have is a datapump backup from before the event. This is table corruption. Is there a way to either restore the table to a stage location, catalog the table or datafile somehow, then restore the bad block? Otherwise, somehow determine the bad data and get the data from the backed up table and insert it back into the bad table after I re-recreate it without the bad blocks?
    Oracle support is just saying recreate the table skipping the bad blocks but there has to be some way here if the data is on that datapump backup that I can determin what it is then restore it.
    Thanks

    The fix blocks procedure did not work and I have not attempted the skip blocks. If I run the skip corrupt blocks will my query work? Is that worth a shot next?

  • Does Import/Export Utility check for Block corruption?

    Hi All,
    Just a quick question I have is does Import/Export Utiligy check for any block corruption while importing or exporting?
    If yes then does it do automatically or we have do set some parameter explicitly.
    I am using oracel version 9.2.0.6.
    Thx in advance.

    Hi yingkuan/kanchan
    Thx for your prompt reply. Still I am not clear as you said that export check for the block corruption error and if there is any it will display the error message in log file. But does it copy corrupted block or skip that block or mark that block as corrupted?
    Thx in advance.

  • Block corrupt questıon

    If there is a block corruptıon ın the database, can I export/ımport entıre database or take full RMAN backup?

    There is a startup parameter which will allow corrupt block skipping I have set this in the past to skip a corrupt block to retrieve data in a customers database (a much as possible) and pump into a new database when there were no other options for recovery. I did this back in v7 with help from support so I can't remember the block skip parameter. Perhaps another in the forum will know about the parameter that I'm recalling from my dim and distant past.
    If your in this position and this is your only option then its valid to try to recover as much data as possible I suppose. Is this the reason for your question?
    I hope this helps.
    Just found this in a google search for "skip corrupt block oracle" :-
    Set event 10231 in the init.ora file to cause Oracle to skip software- and media-corrupted blocks when performing full table scans:
    Event="10231 trace name context forever, level 10"
    Most events are only recomended to be used after speaking to support.

    scn이 scn: 0x0000.00000000 가 아닌
    0x0000.98b00394 인 것으로 봐서는 physical corrupt 가 아닌
    soft corrupt인 것 같습니다.
    그렇다면 버그일 가능성이 높아서 찾아보니
    Bug 4411228 - Block corruption with mixture of file system and RAW files
    The Export Utility
    # Use a full export to check database consistency
    # Export performs a full scan for all tables
    # Export only reads:
    - User data below the high-water mark
    - Parts of the data dictionary, while looking up information concerning the objects being exported
    # Export does not detect the following:
    - Disk corruptions above the high-water mark
    - Index corruptions
    - Free or temporary extent corruptions
    - Column data corruption (like invalid date values)
    Handling Corruptions
    Check the alert file and system log file
    Use diagnostic tools to determine the type of corruption
    Dump blocks to find out what is wrong
    Determine whether the error persists by running checks multiple times
    Recover data from the corrupted object if necessary
    Preferred resolution method: media recovery
    Handling Corruptions
    Always try to find out if the error is permanent. Run the analyze command multiple times or, if possible, perform a shutdown and a startup and try again to perform the operation that failed earlier.
    Find out whether there are more corruptions. If you encounter one, there may be other corrupted blocks, as well. Use tools like DBVERIFY for this.
    Before you try to salvage the data, perform a block dump as evidence to identify the actual cause of the corruption.
    Make a hex dump of the bad block, using UNIX dd and od -x.
    Consider performing a redo log dump to check all the changes that were made to the block so that you can discover when the corruption occurred.
    Note: Remember that when you have a block corruption, performing media recovery is the recommended process after the hardware is verified.
    Resolve any hardware issues:
    - Memory boards
    - Disk controllers
    - Disks
    Recover or restore data from the corrupt object if necessary
    Handling Corruptions (continued)
    There is no point in continuing to work if there are hardware failures. When you encounter hardware problems, the vendor should be contacted and the machine should be checked and fixed before continuing. A full hardware diagnostics should be run.
    Many types of hardware failures are possible:
    Bad I/O hardware or firmware
    Operating system I/O or caching problem
    Memory or paging problems
    Disk repair utilities

    All About Data Blocks Corruption in Oracle
    Vijaya R. Dumpa
    Data Block Overview:
    Oracle allocates logical database space for all data in a database. The units of database space allocation are data blocks (also called logical blocks, Oracle blocks, or pages), extents, and segments. The next level of logical database space is an extent. An extent is a specific number of contiguous data blocks allocated for storing a specific type of information. The level of logical database storage above an extent is called a segment. The high water mark is the boundary between used and unused space in a segment.
    The header contains general block information, such as the block address and the type of segment (for example, data, index, or rollback).
    Table Directory, this portion of the data block contains information about the table having rows in this block.
    Row Directory, this portion of the data block contains information about the actual rows in the block (including addresses for each row piece in the row data area).
    Free space is allocated for insertion of new rows and for updates to rows that require additional space.
    Row data, this portion of the data block contains rows in this block.
    Analyze the Table structure to identify block corruption:
    By analyzing the table structure and its associated objects, you can perform a detailed check of data blocks to identify block corruption:
    SQL> analyze table_name/index_name/cluster_name ... validate structure cascade;
    Detecting data block corruption using the DBVERIFY Utility:
    DBVERIFY is an external command-line utility that performs a physical data structure integrity check on an offline database. It can be used against backup files and online files. Integrity checks are significantly faster if you run against an offline database.
    Restrictions:
    DBVERIFY checks are limited to cache-managed blocks. It’s only for use with datafiles, it will not work against control files or redo logs.
    The following example is sample output of verification for the data file system_ts_01.dbf. And its Start block is 9 and end block is 25. Blocksize parameter is required only if the file to be verified has a non-2kb block size. Logfile parameter specifies the file to which logging information should be written. The feedback parameter has been given the value 2 to display one dot on the screen for every 2 blocks processed.
    $ dbv file=system_ts_01.dbf start=9 end=25 blocksize=16384 logfile=dbvsys_ts.log feedback=2

    Detecting and reporting data block corruption using the DBMS_REPAIR package:
    Note: Note that this event can only be used if the block "wrapper" is marked corrupt.
    Eg: If the block reports ORA-1578.
    1. Create DBMS_REPAIR administration tables:
    To Create Repair tables, run the below package.
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR.ADMIN_TABLES(‘REPAIR_ADMIN’, 1,1, ‘REPAIR_TS’);
    Note that table names prefix with ‘REPAIR_’ or ‘ORPAN_’. If the second variable is 1, it will create ‘REAIR_key tables, if it is 2, then it will create ‘ORPAN_key tables.
    If the thread variable is
    1 then package performs ‘create’ operations.
    2 then package performs ‘delete’ operations.
    3 then package performs ‘drop’ operations.
    2. Scanning a specific table or Index using the DBMS_REPAIR.CHECK_OBJECT procedure:
    In the following example we check the table employee for possible corruption’s that belongs to the schema TEST. Let’s assume that we have created our administration tables called REPAIR_ADMIN in schema SYS.
    To check the table block corruption use the following procedure:
    SQL> VARIABLE A NUMBER;
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR.CHECK_OBJECT (‘TEST’,’EMP’, NULL,
    1,’REPAIR_ADMIN’, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,:A);
    SQL> PRINT A;
    To check which block is corrupted, check in the REPAIR_ADMIN table.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM REPAIR_ADMIN;
    3. Fixing corrupt block using the DBMS_REPAIR.FIX_CORRUPT_BLOCK procedure:
    SQL> VARIABLE A NUMBER;
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR.FIX.CORRUPT_BLOCKS (‘TEST’,’EMP’, NULL,
    1,’REPARI_ADMIN’, NULL,:A);
    SQL> SELECT MARKED FROM REPAIR_ADMIN;
    If u select the EMP table now you still get the error ORA-1578.
    4. Skipping corrupt blocks using the DBMS_REPAIR. SKIP_CORRUPT_BLOCK procedure:
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR. SKIP_CORRUPT.BLOCKS (‘TEST’, ‘EMP’, 1,1);
    Notice the verification of running the DBMS_REPAIR tool. You have lost some of data. One main advantage of this tool is that you can retrieve the data past the corrupted block. However we have lost some data in the table.
    5. This procedure is useful in identifying orphan keys in indexes that are pointing to corrupt rows of the table:
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR. DUMP ORPHAN_KEYS (‘TEST’,’IDX_EMP’, NULL,
    2, ‘REPAIR_ADMIN’, ‘ORPHAN_ADMIN’, NULL,:A);
    If u see any records in ORPHAN_ADMIN table you have to drop and re-create the index to avoid any inconsistencies in your queries.
    6. The last thing you need to do while using the DBMS_REPAIR package is to run the DBMS_REPAIR.REBUILD_FREELISTS procedure to reinitialize the free list details in the data dictionary views.
    SQL> EXEC DBMS_REPAIR.REBUILD_FREELISTS (‘TEST’,’EMP’, NULL, 1);
    NOTE
    Setting events 10210, 10211, 10212, and 10225 can be done by adding the following line for each event in the init.ora file:
    Event = "event_number trace name errorstack forever, level 10"
    When event 10210 is set, the data blocks are checked for corruption by checking their integrity. Data blocks that don't match the format are marked as soft corrupt.
    When event 10211 is set, the index blocks are checked for corruption by checking their integrity. Index blocks that don't match the format are marked as soft corrupt.
    When event 10212 is set, the cluster blocks are checked for corruption by checking their integrity. Cluster blocks that don't match the format are marked as soft corrupt.
    When event 10225 is set, the fet$ and uset$ dictionary tables are checked for corruption by checking their integrity. Blocks that don't match the format are marked as soft corrupt.
    Set event 10231 in the init.ora file to cause Oracle to skip software- and media-corrupted blocks when performing full table scans:
    Event="10231 trace name context forever, level 10"
    Set event 10233 in the init.ora file to cause Oracle to skip software- and media-corrupted blocks when performing index range scans:
    Event="10233 trace name context forever, level 10"
    To dump the Oracle block you can use below command from 8.x on words:
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM DUMP DATAFILE 11 block 9;
    This command dumps datablock 9 in datafile11, into USER_DUMP_DEST directory.
    Dumping Redo Logs file blocks:
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM DUMP LOGFILE ‘/usr/oracle8/product/admin/udump/rl. log’;
    Rollback segments block corruption, it will cause problems (ORA-1578) while starting up the database.
    With support of oracle, can use below under source parameter to startup the database.
    CORRUPTEDROLLBACK_SEGMENTS=(RBS_1, RBS_2)
    DB_BLOCK_COMPUTE_CHECKSUM
    This parameter is normally used to debug corruption’s that happen on disk.
    The following V$ views contain information about blocks marked logically corrupt:
    V$ BACKUP_CORRUPTION, V$COPY_CORRUPTION
    When this parameter is set, while reading a block from disk to catch, oracle will compute the checksum again and compares it with the value that is in the block.
    If they differ, it indicates that the block is corrupted on disk. Oracle makes the block as corrupt and signals an error. There is an overhead involved in setting this parameter.
    DB_BLOCK_CACHE_PROTECT=‘TRUE’
    Oracle will catch stray writes made by processes in the buffer catch.
    Oracle 9i new RMAN futures:
    Obtain the datafile numbers and block numbers for the corrupted blocks. Typically, you obtain this output from the standard output, the alert.log, trace files, or a media management interface. For example, you may see the following in a trace file:
    ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 9, block # 13)
    ORA-01110: data file 9: '/oracle/dbs/tbs_91.f'
    ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 2, block # 19)
    ORA-01110: data file 2: '/oracle/dbs/tbs_21.f'
    $rman target =rman/rman@rmanprod
    RMAN> run {
    2> allocate channel ch1 type disk;
    3> blockrecover datafile 9 block 13 datafile 2 block 19;
    4> }
    Recovering Data blocks Using Selected Backups:
    # restore from backupset
    BLOCKRECOVER DATAFILE 9 BLOCK 13 DATAFILE 2 BLOCK 19 FROM BACKUPSET;
    # restore from datafile image copy
    BLOCKRECOVER DATAFILE 9 BLOCK 13 DATAFILE 2 BLOCK 19 FROM DATAFILECOPY;
    # restore from backupset with tag "mondayAM"
    BLOCKRECOVER DATAFILE 9 BLOCK 13 DATAFILE 2 BLOCK 199 FROM TAG = mondayAM;

  • OSB Unused block compression and Undo backup compression

    Dear all.
    I know that osb backup software is faster than other vendor software especially oracle database backup area.
    There are two special method (Unused block compression and Undo backup compression)
    But, normally in case of comparable product using same RMAN API(Veritas/Legato etc...), they only backup used block and skip unused block, right?
    I'm confused, what is different from used block only backup and unused block compression.
    Please explain detail about unused block compression and Undo backup compression.
    Sorry about my poor knowledge.
    Thanks.

    This is explained in detail in the OSB technical white paper:

  • Router Blocking a Website

    So a few days ago my router seems to have blocked me from visiting a website. www.tfaw.com. I have tried everything calling linksys completly reseting my router updating firmware. Making sure everything is set correctly. Changing the MTU to 1400 and lower. Still nothing. Called my service provider who walked through fixes in internet options making sure it wasnt something blocking the site. It looks like this issue is fairly uncommon but I have seen people having the same issues as in this forum posts.
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/webmaster/3781120.htm
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/router-blocking-websites/td-p/293627
    However nobody seems to be able to offer any advice that actually fixes the problem. I feel like im going round and round not finding an actual reason why im having access blocked from the site.
    I tried connecting through a proxy and it let me access the website from this computer. I know it has to have something to do with my network/router, I can access the site on both of my phones and as soon as I turn on my wireless on the phones it does not allow me access to the website.
    Does anyone know why this might be happening?? As I can tell nobody has actually been able to tell anyone why or how to fix this issue
    Please Help!
