FIOS TV and Media Manager turn themselves off

Every night our TV and the Media Manager box to which it is connected switch themselves off at random times..  This happens once or twice an evening, as well as during the day if the TV has been on for a couple of hours.   I  then hit the "Tv" and "STB" buttons on the remote, followed by  "Power."  (Usually after that a message flashes on the black screen telling us to press "menu" if we want to watch TV (as we had been doing before the screen went black).

Is the TV power cord plugging into the Verizon box?
If your TV is plugged into the power outlet in the Verizon box and this is happening, please plug the TV in elsewhere. There could be too much power draw for the box causing it to restart.
If the TV power cord is plugged anywhere else other than the Verizon box, theres nothing the box can do to power off your TV. There would be something else going on. You would need to investigate your electrical signal thats feeding those devices.

  • All my apps on my iPad keep turn themselves off all the time. I have reset, deleted everything on it, deleted apps, restarted... The works. Nothing helps. Input?

Hi people. I have an iPad. Since I updated to 4 all my apps keep turning themselves off, all the time, ncluding Safari. I now have 5.1. I have done everything on the forums: reinstalled everything, deleted running apps, turned off running apps, turned off properly... I now give up and want to throw the blasted thing away. Any input? Thanks.

Did this start happening recently?  I have seen this too and no idea why it is happening.  I find I am typing away and it just closes, I have to open it up again.  I found this first with Angry Birds, but have also experienced it with Facebook and Safari.  I have iOS 5.01 so not sure if it is related to this or another iPad issue.
I wasn't sure if it was because of the screen or some other touch issue.

  • Netboot clients turns themselves off after globe goes to "wheel"

    Hello
I have 20 G4 machines in a computer lab that I am in charge of (just got this on my list of stuff to do), and I am trying to get them to boot on NetBoot.
It works. They run osX .4.10. MOST of them. Some of them does this:
    1. Press "N" and computer goes to "Network Boot"
    2. Flashing globe appears
    3. Flashing globe gets replace with apple symbol and spinning smaller globe
    4. Spinning globe disappears
    5. --- this is where the "wheel" symbol should come on, but...
    6. Computer gets a "black window" pretty much where the "Starting OS X" splash screen is supposed to go, and then it turns itself off.
The computers do not reboot, they just power down. Bam!
The computers that do boot works beautifully!
After the globe stops spinning on these, the wheel shows for about 30 secs, and then the OS X GUI loads with no hassle...
Any ideas why just some of them refuse to boot?
Is there any way to get the boot to be "verbose" when netbooting?
Can I dump errors etc to file on boot?
    Cheers,
    Tomas

Allright, this is the progress so far:
I cannot, not even on local booted media (FireWire) get the computer to start with MacOS X. The computer next to it, the exact same model, does. I bought an external LACie FW drive and installed OS X 10.4.11 on it. Booted, used NetRestore to create an image of the local HD, moved the FW to the computer next to it, booted off the FW, restored drive. Works perfectly! Moved the FW drive to next computer. Tried to boot, and computer shuts itself down.
At boot, the grey apple appears in the middle of the screen for a short while, and then a "wheel" starts spinning under it. After a while it boots into OSx. This is on machines that work. The machines that does not work, powers down when the "wheel" is going to appear. BAM! Power down. No reboot, lockup, sounds, text, no nothing - just plain power off, as if someone pulled the power chord.
Any ideas? What can be wrong? Hardware is manufactured at the same time. Same size harddrive, same graphix card, same memory config, same memory capsules, same peripherals, same everything... but it just simply powers down, while the other works flawlessly. I have 20 machines and about half of them boot fine, and the other half powers down when I try.
Next try will be to buy (yet again buy stuff... sigh...) an external firewire DVD (the G4 machines only have CD-readers and OS x is on DVD-Media), and try to boot and install from that.
Would be nice if any of you can tell me what's wrong before I have to buy new stuff
    Cheers!

    Hi jonnarink,
    Try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    In short:
    1) Make sure the iPhone is not connected to USB and, if it is on, turn it off by holding the power button and the home button together(takes about 6 seconds)
    2) Once it's completely off, hold down the home button
    3) While holding home, connect the USB cable and keep holding home until iTunes recognises the iPhone
It will force the iPhone into recovery mode, then you can connect to iTunes and restore your backup. Bear in mind that it will likely need to be updated to 5.0.1 anyway.

Sorry, just saw Ralph Landry1's post above mine(typed mine a while ago, only posted now!) with the same link

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Try rebooting while holding down the Command and R keys (two keys).
If you see an icon for Recovery, select it and continue.
Then select Disk Utiltiy and press Return.
Now select the hard drive and the Repair Disk.
Quit DU when that is done and restart.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Dropped my phone in water and did not turn it off, what do i do?

I knocked my phone of the sink and into the toilet. the water was only halfway up the screen vertically and fell upside down on the power button side. it barely touched the speakers and the charger part but when i pulled it out and dried it off, i did not turn it off because I thought it was fine - the sreen was fine and everything worked perfectly until the grey screen and the black apple logo came up and had a bunch of code at the top of the screen? i dried it out even more and tried to turn it off, and it wouldn't. then it started changes screens a lot until it came to the restart screen and i thought it was okay but now it's blacks out in an airtight bag of rice..what do I do? is there no hope now and just replace? if I have apple care, how much would it cost to replace an iphone 5?

    shusha29 wrote:
But I would also like to now if there's anything else I can do before having to get a new phone?
There is nothing more that you can do...turning the iPhone on and off does not help and can cause further damage if there is still moisture inside...moisture and electronics are not compatible.
At this point the best option is a visit to an Apple store genius bar for help.

You most likely have zoom on. Double tap with THREE fingers to turn zoom off, if it is on, then: Settings>General>Accessibility...turn it off for good.

    Go to /Library/Preferences/System Configuration
Move all the files from the System Configuration folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference.

Is your iPhone a Factory Unlocked iPhone or Locked to a Service Provider ?
Have you tried Restoring your iPhone by taking your device in Recovery Mode ?

  • I no longer have my iphone and need to turn imessage off

i no longer own an iphone and need to turn imessage off but i no longer have the phone at all so i cant turn it off myself

If youv'e ever called them they should have it on file. If you haven't call your carrier first and tell them that you need imessage turned off but don't have the imei number for the old iphone and ask if they still have it. Once you get it you can call apple and give them that number or have your carrier just route you straight to them.

  • Equium beeps 5-6 sec and then it turns itself off

    Hi,
I've had my laptop for about a year and it has started to mess up.
When i turn it on all i get it a continous beep sound for about 5-6 seconds and then it turns itself off.
Does anyone know what is wrong with it and how i can fix it?
    Thanks

Hehe.. I would be a clairvoyant if I would know whats wrong with the notebook without checking it firstly ;)
I think nobody would be able to say whats wrong exactly but most of us can provide some suggestions and could suppose whats wrong
For me it sounds a little bit like a RAM issue.
I think you should firstly check the RAM modules use only one Ram or if possible try to boot up the notebook with new RAMs which are working for sure
    Good luck
